Sorry chaps, my thinking cap is busted. Best title I could manage tonight!

Loads of comfy chairs in here, bowls of fruit, and lots of superfree veggies to snack on Wink

So, settle in, have a natter, and let's show the lard who's boss!

So, how is everyone today?
I've been out in the snow with the dog, came home, watched a film, had a nap, put some washing on, cooked and ate dinner and am now sitting here for the rest of the evening.

Bet all the schools are open tomorrow Sad

Hedgepig · 05/02/2012 16:46

Sounds like a nice day Kid we have had a good one too except it is now getting DS1 to do his homework time. We were soft and let him play in the snow this morning when he should really have been doing it. He basically has to copy out 8 lines of text and add punctuation, if he just put as much energy into the work as he does the moaning it would be done by now. I've had to walk away as I will go ballistic soon. He's 8 and in yr4 it should be a doddle for him to do, we have the fake crying now Grin, sorry ladies this is nothing to do with diets at all but I need to rant somewhere and FB is not the place for this

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/02/2012 21:18

Am I going to have to go searching for all these threads you are talking about Hmm.
I had a DOTD once about 4 years ago. It was a support thread for those with gestational diabetes, and had several hundred posts and only half of them were from me. But I don't browse/post much on MN these days, except a handful of specific threads, whereas I used to be fairly prolific in the olden days back when I were a lass.

We have had a busy day today. It was supposed to be dd's birthday party at a soft play centre this morning, but the snow meant that most of her guests couldn't come. I phoned them to try and postpone it this morning, but they wouldn't let me, so we tried to get as many there as we could, but over half of dd's friends were missing :(. Those that were there did enjoy it though, thankfully. Dd and ds1 also managed to fit in playing in the snow first thing, some sledging with dh after the party, and we all went to messy church over teatime. Hoping they all sleep well tonight as a result yeah like that's ever going to happen .

Food for today (GREEN day)
B toast (HEb), poached eggs, baked beans
S couple of chips, bite of fish finger, teaspoon of non-dairy ice cream, banana (!!)
L easy bean moroccan tagine and cous cous. Slice of flake celebration cake (14 syns if myfitnesspal is to be believed Shock).

D butternut squash risotto and parmesan (HEa). mullerlight new york cheesecake yogurt (1/2 syn iirc)

kid · 05/02/2012 21:41

I'm making a banana loaf (non SW) and am going to attempt to work out syn value. Wish me luck Grin

kid · 05/02/2012 21:44

I think I'll give up already. Just the flour I used works out to 28syns!

Hedgepig · 05/02/2012 22:01

Yeh but you get more than 1 slice out of it unless you go into a total feeding frenzy Grin

Huffpot · 05/02/2012 22:11

Howdy all.
Just checking in as have been terrible at keeping up with everything and have finally gotten on the laptop which is so much easier than my phone.
Loved the brown seam description Bee and may I suggest some itching powder lightly sprinkled upon them when it just all gets too much? Wink
Oh dear! I really am evil aren't I? I hate pigs of men

My dearest darling MIL has again moved back into the house and is on her best behaviour however had a fall on her way to church yesterday(before the snow even started) and was taken away in an ambulance but unfortunately no lasting damage. Oh I'm so going to hell aren't I?

On the food front haven't been all that wonderful so DoD results will be a complete surprise....I am liking the mushy pea curry though - as disgusting as it looks it doesn't taste that bad and is quick, easy and superspeed

Loving the snow here but dreading the ice that will come tomorrow!

Ok looooooong post but just wanted everyone to know that I hadn't forgotten them waves

kid · 05/02/2012 22:18

If you are going to hell huff, at least you made us laugh with your descriptions.

I suppose I should go and get the uniforms ready (they are still in the washing machine) as I am guessing the schools will be open tomorrow despite the snow. I am so not looking forward to the journey in the morning. Its going to mean I have to walk a lot further than normal as I daren't drive in the snow.

Night all, I'll work out my menu plan in the morning.

grinningbee · 06/02/2012 08:01

Good morning everyone!

Congrats on the successful thread TSP it's really fascinating, and I've ended up with a couple of new books on the kindle Grin

Kid I do hope the banana loaf was nice, and that the dc's uniforms are done now Wink

Huffpot You're not going to Hell. You're too funny! And you put up with a heck of a lot. Hope she behaves herself.

Cheese You're a darling. Nah, I don't need whisking away just yet. After I picked him up from his drinking session we went to a supermarket to get nappies. He ended up crying and saying he could never live without me and the dc Hmm. And he handed me £30 and said "here, that's what I spent on beer". I probably have the consumption of beer to thank for that whole debacle!

I'm having a real logistics problem this morning. We had a good few inches of snow, and it hasn't melted. Playgroup is only a few minutes walk from here, but just too far to carry ds while holding dd's hand (plus it will take waaaay longer as she dilly dallies), and I don't think the double buggy will make it on the paths. Might have to chance walking in the road...

Food for the day:

Ready brek, ryvita and 1 tsp jam (1/2 syn), banana
Omelette with mushrooms and baked beans, fruit and a yogurt
Quorn chilli and rice (1 1/2 syns for the chilli mix), 2 slices hobbit bread

Hellooooooo?

OP posts:
Hedgepig · 06/02/2012 11:12

cooeee! I'm working and trying not to eat bad stuff but I'm tired and cold so it is a struggle today. Sad
Think of all the calories you have burnt shoving the buggy through the snow Bee
Must get back to it

TheScarlettPimpernel · 06/02/2012 11:29

Wotcha everyone!

Bee your DH does sound as though he's finding it hard to deal with Sad. I do think the beer money gesture is rather sweet though!

I do think snow is good for weight loss. Yesterday we went out trudging in the park, built a snowman (we went to say goodbye to him on the way home and some ARSEHOLE had stolen his carroty nose Angry), had a snowball fight, played snowball catch, and practised bowling and shot-put with snowballs. My arms and back are actually quite achy which just goes to show how weak I am !

Did a sneaky weigh-in this morning. Guess what, children! GUESS what Auntie Scarlett has achieved in another week of dedicated calorie counting, water-guzzling and exercise? That's right! NOTHING!

Angry Sad

If on DoD I still am not losing weight then I'm going to have to have a serious THINK about this, and about why it's not working. But I shall defer thinking about that until then.

Food today:

B - Belvita, coffee
L - grilled chicken and puy lentil salad, yogurt
D - Butterbean and veg stew with flatbread, a bit of ice cream.

CantSleepWontSleep · 06/02/2012 12:11

I'm guessing that you have had your thyroid checked at some point TSP?

TheScarlettPimpernel · 06/02/2012 12:19

Yar CWSW - years ago, like (I've been fat since forever, so had tests on and off in my youth). Am fine and don't have any of the other symptoms of rubbishy thyroid. I think I'm just doomed

Mind you as DH said this morning, when he managed to find a pause in my despairing screeching, I am unquestionably looking trimmer. OH I DON'T BLOODY KNOW.

kid · 06/02/2012 12:52

Take measurements tap, its the only way to know for sure.

I hate having to walk everywhere, it meant I was out of my house by 7:15 this morning. I was exhausted by the time I got to work 95 minutes later! I've got to do it again at hometime too, boo!

Hedgepig · 06/02/2012 13:25

TSP I look at your food plan and it always looks so yummy and healthy so I am a bit nonplused by your lack of a loss. I'm wondering if your Belvita is a good choice? would it be better to have something more filling like a shredded wheat some fruit and low fat natural yog? My breakfast is one of the big changes have made on this diet I have melon and low fat yog pretty much every day. I could be talking crap if course

grinningbee · 06/02/2012 13:33

TSP It's very puzzling and must be so disheartening (understatement I'm sure). Are you sure you're eating enough? If you're not (I think Cheese mentioned before) you'll hang on to weight as your body thinks it's starving. Or something like that.

Kid boo for all the walking.

Hedge I do hope the naughty food isn't still calling you!

TSP H was tiddly when he handed over the money. I was most surprised. It's been duly squirreled. I'm trying to save up to improve our housing situation, even if it takes me 15 years!. Still haven't heard what's going on with the empty house in the village...

Speaking of H, he cooked me dinner last night Shock. We had roast beef, and I had cauliflower, broccoli and baby carrots with it. Had a smidge of gravy (1.5 syns) and horseradish (1 syn) too. He had roasted and mashed potatoes and yorkshires along with his veg, but I didn't miss them actually. So there's at least 1 brownie point Grin.

Just eaten my omelette, so now I can go back to reading about people's tummies exploding on TSP's other thread GrinGrin, oh, and play with the dc too Wink.

TheScarlettPimpernel · 06/02/2012 13:49

Thanks you fellows :)

I suppose there is a chance I can drop 2lb in 48 hours and have my weekly loss on the DoD! I realise that's blindly optimistic but still...

Kid you're right re. measurements. I have been taking them and there was an initial loss but that seems to have stopped too....And also, a 95 minute walk?!?! There's me thinking my 1 hour there, 1 hour back made me a badass Shock

Hedge I'm glad in a weird way that it puzzles you too. I mean if you looked at my food plans/diary and it was all cakes and ale then at least we'd know why, right?! I do wonder about the Bevita. DH is shovelling ALl-Bran down himself at a rate of knots and losing weight effectively. But I am HOPELESS with breakfasts. Cereals make me feel sick (I really can't stand sloppy cold food) and I simply don't have the time for anything imaginative. Belvita is not ideal but I'd've thought better than toast as it's high fibre, low fat, fortified with vits etc.? but yes, the thought did occur to me too...

Bee I have upped my calorie intake a bit. It might take a while for that to show I guess. What with everything else (fertility failures, lack of funding for studies, lack of jobs, etc.) I do feel quite a lot like I have been put under some kind of gypsy curse!

kid · 06/02/2012 16:20

I am home now and my feet are hurting. The walk home wasn't quite as long, only 50 minutes but that was after being at work all day.

I am taking the car tomorrow, I don't care what the roads are like (I know they'll be clear anyway) I tried to top up my Oyster card out so I didn't have to walk quite so far in future but the stupid thing don't work. I took it the local ticket office station but they said I need to go to an underground station to get it fixed. So, they expect me to pay the fare (which is more expensive if you don't have an oyster card) or walk which isn't going to happen.

I'm going to phone them up and hope they can do it through the post because I am not walking there and you can't park there.

I'm having a green day but have used up both HEb choices so looks likes its a rice or pasta dinner tonight. Any suggestions?

kid · 06/02/2012 17:14

Stupid Oyster card, I might as well throw it in the bin! Oh well, I do have a spare one, wonder if that one works? Shame I can't get to view my online account for it as I have no idea what the security question is and the phone line is busy.
Car or walking it is then Grin

Hedgepig · 06/02/2012 20:22

Oh dear kid sounds like a transport nightmare.
TSP I tend to make up my melon, other fruit and yog in a plastic pot the night before and just take it to work with me (frozen berries work really well as they defrost overnight), on the cereal front I'm with you on slimey cereal as I cant abide milk. could you bear to eat something like mini weetabixs or shreddie dry? I quite like to nibble on them deluding myself they are a little treat

kid · 06/02/2012 20:57

I thought I'd used both HEb, but as I was having a green day, I realised that I didn't need to count the jacket potato as a HEb after all. So easily pleased Grin
I had 2 alpen light bars instead which are always welcome.

TheScarlettPimpernel · 06/02/2012 21:14

Those are very good ideas Hedge, thanks. I have a houseful of Belvita having seen them on offer, mind Hmm

Also - they are high fibre, low fat, low GI breakfast foods. Basically, like eating cereal, except it doesn't make me . So although I agree that breakfast is tres important, I can't really see it can be making that much of a difference? If I were having black coffee and a Marlboro red, maybe....Grin

I dunno. It's all most odd. I honestly don't see how I can be doing a calorie controlled diet and not lose weight unless I am actually some strange and peculiar new species. I mean I know I'm an eccentric and all that, but really....

Tomorrow, I will be Eating Out (theatre again), so food is thusly (still adding up to my 1330 calorie allowance):

B - The Inevitable Belvita
L - not sure yet, but probably black rice and prawn salad
D - Pizza express light pizza (you know, the one with the hole in the middle with the salad in), cappuccino

Not ideal, but within calories, which is supposed to bloody well sodding work

Cheese hope your week is going well mate.

Hedgepig · 06/02/2012 21:20

Ooo I've not tried one of those pizzas, wonder if you can get extra cheese to fill up the hole Grin
I'm off to sleep as I feel pants and if I'm asleep I can't raid the cupboards, sweet dreams oh skinny ones xx

FriendofDorothy · 06/02/2012 22:03

My MFP daily calories are 1400. Any less than that and I stop losing weight!
