Sorry chaps, my thinking cap is busted. Best title I could manage tonight!

Loads of comfy chairs in here, bowls of fruit, and lots of superfree veggies to snack on Wink

So, settle in, have a natter, and let's show the lard who's boss!

Nope, you don't have to add meat unless you wanted it. Was the jacket spud your HEB?

The new SW magazine arrived yesterday. Must try and grab a chance to read it properly later. I need recipe inspiration!

I'm not sure exactly why, but the only part of breakfast I got today was the banana. So I am a HEA and HEB in hand. At least we got out and got the food shop done though.

Oh, and whoever had the red witch last, she's arrived at my house today. Joy joy.

Last of all, anyone tried those Mikado chocolate biscuit stick things? I bought some for the dc today (soft touch that I am) and I've resisted so far. But they're only 1/2 syn each, and look really nice! The dc certainly both enjoyed a couple. I mustn't have one today though as I want some wine later Grin

The jacket potato was a HEb, I usually have a HEa as milk for breakfast but I had fruit today instead so I am owed that. I think you get 2 HEa on red and green days (1 for ee days) so really I'm due 2 HEa. I'm not sure how to use them up as I don't really drink milk, not a massive cheese person (not on its own anyway) so I don't know how else to use them up.

Looks like it'll be an Indian takeaway tonight although that just seems too good to be true for me to be allowed that on SW. But, if you experts say its okay to order tandoori mixed grill which I know is lovely, then its okay by me. I will steer clear of the rice and naan bread and just have the meat and some salad.

Best get moving, day 2 of shred is about to start Sad

grinningbee · 03/02/2012 16:44

How was the second day of shred Kid or are you still doing it?

I must admit, we had some Chinese last weekend, and I was amazed that you could have a chicken chow mein on the green day for just 7 syns! I did weigh it out mind you, as where we get ours was a larger than average portion.

Just prepared the stew, just got to bung it in to cook once I've done tea for the dc.

I've also bitten the bullet and made a Dr's appointment for next Thursday. You may or may not remember I said about a lump/fibroid/whatever a while ago. Well, when I lay on my back with a full bladder, this "whatever it is" sticks right out. For all I know it may have been like that for ages, but now there is less lard it is very noticeable, and somewhat uncomfortable too. I'm still thinking it's the fibroid from when ds was in there. It was a big bugger. Yes, you can collectively kick my bum for not going before. I'm a bit nervous tbh. And that's an understatement!

OP posts:
kid · 03/02/2012 16:52

Just finished 2nd day of shred and tbh, it was just as hard as day 1.

Glad to hear you've made a drs appt. It could turn out to be something simple that they don't need to do anything about, but thats for them to decide and not for you to guess! Hope you don't spend too much time worrying between now and Thurs (easier said than done), but you can't do anything in the meantime so try and push it to the back of your head.

I think I deserve a lovely cup of tea now seeing as I did the shred as soon as I got in from work

TheScarlettPimpernel · 03/02/2012 17:26

Well done for getting that appt Bee. I know just what it's like to be a perfectly sane and well-educated person who'd send any pal in the same position scuttling off to the Geep, but somehow ... never...quite...go! now that you've made the appt hopefully you can put it out of your mind until then.

on the Shredding Kid! You're a better man than I am.

Luncheon was nice. I had a gin and slimline, and a sort of sweet potato and kidney bean stew thingy. Er. And then I want to the cinema and got some chocolate covered raisins! But I have added them all up and have got enough for a little light supper so that's OK.

As it happens, the pal I was meeting had done very very well on MFP before - a really spectacular transformation! - and she also thought 1200 was far too low. She said when she ate as little as that she found she plateaued. I still think it's a bit odd - I mean when Christian Bale starved himself to be in the Machinist he ate 1 cappuccino and 1 tin of tuna or an apple a day, for 4 months Hmm So obviously outright starvation does work! However, I've no intention of trying it meself, no siree.

pixiestix · 03/02/2012 19:42

Hello, I'm still here, just tres busy and with a shit internet connection.

Glad you have made that appt Bee. I know its scary but its definitely for your long term good.

I agree with everyone else Scarlett - 1200 is much too low. And yes, if you starved yourself for four months you would be thin by the end of that period, but Christ, what the hell would happen if you ever wanted to start eating like a normal person again??

debka · 03/02/2012 21:35

bee well done for making appt, but a good job you know about the fibroid or you'd really be worrying.

Had a rubbish eat-everything-in-sight day yesterday but better today. We're on holiday next week so I'll not be at group or weighing in, and subconsciously I am relaxing. Not good.

Well done on shredding kid, that scares me! I ran 25mins tonight, was hard...

Food for tomorrow:
B- bacon, egg, pear
L- pea, ham and veg soup
D- hmmm....how many syns in a fish finger?? SW chips, mushy peas, fruit salad.

CantSleepWontSleep · 03/02/2012 23:03

Well done for making appointment bee.

debka - standard fish finger about 2 syns.

Food diary for today:
B strawberries, gammon, egg, banana
L salmon, noodles, leek pea and gem lettuce braise. 2 apples
D linguine carbonara stylee with mushrooms, babycorn, sugar snap peas
Snacks: last few vanilla seeds + almonds (2/3 syns). 2 bites flapjack (2/3 syns?) toast (heB) and lemon curd (1/2 syns). mullerlight yogurt.

kid · 03/02/2012 23:07

I had a last minute change of plan for dinner. We still had Indian but i had vegetable biryani as i couldn't imagine eating loads of meat with no rice. Still within syns and I turned down a bar of chocolate and as I was driving, I didn't have any wine.

Let's hope I can keep this up until at least Wednesday.

CantSleepWontSleep · 04/02/2012 06:54

Kid - I hope you realised that you could call it a green day and have rice with your veggie dinner, as you didn't actually have any meat on your red day did you?!

Baby been feeding since 5:40 and now screaming for 'diddy' who is fast asleep with ds1. Joy.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 04/02/2012 07:24

Urgh poor you csws. Hope you are now asleep!

My sister has had her job made permanent. Hooray! She's waited a long time for that. So we had to have a bottle of cava last night Smile I'm so weak willed!

Food today:
B: melon and yog
L: bacon, eggs, toast (heb) mushrooms and tomatoes
D: either roast chicken, new pots and salad or meatballs, spaghetti and salad

Have a good day everyone. Snow is forecast here tonight. I'm hoping for a snow day on Monday Grin

TheScarlettPimpernel · 04/02/2012 08:24

OH gosh CSWS, you poor thing. Hope you can have a toasty-warm restful day today....

Blarsted socialising! We are going out tonight to t'cinema and our pal is a Proper Foodie (like, for-a-living type foodie), and wants to try out a new, 'kewl' (apparently) burger joint place after the film. Which will be at about 9.30pm. So we will have already eaten a meal, presumably.

I was going to not have a Day Off this week, after last week's hysterical weeping mild disappointment. Oh well - I guess learning to have a fairly normal relaxed social life while still losing weight is all part of this!

Hope you all have luffly weekends.

kid · 04/02/2012 08:59

I knew I could change it to a green day, but the biryani isn't free so has to be synned. It was the only syns I'd had all day so I know I didn't go over.

You poor thing being up at that ridiculous hour, shame we can't set DCs body clocks to suit us.
My dear little DS got up about 7:30 and was straight on the xbox. I don't mind that, what I do mind is having to listen to him having conversations very loudly with his friends who are also playing the game.
DD had the right idea. She got up and went downstairs to put the tv on. When I got up, she was snuggled up on the settee under a fleece blanket watching tv.

DH has gone to work, I am meant to be going to get DD's phone fixed, return a pair of boots and I was thinking about getting my hair cut. But, I'm swaying to a day at home instead as its much, much warmer.

Last night was a bit of a nightmare. I went out in the car about 7pm. The window wasn't frosted up so I set off on my short journey. As I pulled on to the first main road, I realised how dirty the windscreen was so I sprayed the water to clean it. The wipers spread the water across the glass and then the whole thing turned to ice meaning I couldn't see anything out of the front window. I tried to stay calm while I drove along to get down a side street (which I couldn't really see the turning for)
I managed to judge it correctly and the second I was on the side street, the hazard lights went on and I wouldn't move until the glass was clear. So lucky that no-one stepped out in front of my car and that there were no cyclists coming as there is no way I would have seen them.

So, for all you drivers, don't make the same mistake I made. I certainly won't ever do it again!

kid · 04/02/2012 09:54

Hmm, decisions, decisions.
Day 3 of shred or get get dressed and go out in this horrible, cold weather?
Neither of those choices are very appealing to me Grin

TheScarlettPimpernel · 04/02/2012 10:22

Well....at least Shredding would be in the warm!

I ain't going out until absolutely forced to do so - going to hole myself up in the study with pints and pints of hot tea.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 04/02/2012 11:12

It's so bloody cold. Reckon we'll get snow? I'm just going to take DD to the library and pop to the butchers today. Other than that, we are staying warm at home. Brrrr!
Dh is desperate for curry tonight. So I'm going to make a load of little sw friendly sides to pick at during the game. We will have vegetable pilau, punjabi lamb chops, sw onion bajis, Tarka Dahl and saag aloo. Checking in at around 5 syns! If the recipes are any good I will post them. Most are from Gordon Ramsay great escapes!

Have a nice evening tsp.

debka · 04/02/2012 11:35

*cheese that sounds lush, can I come to yours forever and ever please?

TheScarlettPimpernel · 04/02/2012 11:59

CAN I COME TOO???

grinningbee · 04/02/2012 12:12

If I offer to babysit (and can bring my dc) can I come too? I'll even wash up!

Howdy do all.

Hope you got a bit more sleep CSWS. Kid I've done that myself with the windscreen. It's not good, is it!

I'm feeling rather glum today and need a kick up the bum. H has gone out for a drinking session with M's husband. He's driven himself over (it's 30ish miles away) and because the poor lamb can't cadge a bed at anyone's house tonight I get to pick him up later. I've told him if he's tiddly, I am leaving him there.

We've still got snow on the ground here, and more forecast for later and overnight!

Both dc are full of cold, but today still seems like such a waste. Grrrr at H. Ooooh, there's so much more I want to moan about, about him, but I'd just bore the pants off you Grin.

Food for the day:

Ready brek, ryvita + jam (1/2 syn), banana - and I did get to eat it today!
Ham and mushroom omelette, fruit and a yogurt
Left over beef and pepper stew with carrot and swede mash
13 syns worth of red wine

On a quick flick through the new Sw mag, there's a whole section of Indian recipes this time. Looks rather nice. I've yet to see what else there is....

pixiestix · 04/02/2012 12:33

Morning all!
I am feeling very nervous. I'm at work and two people have just gone home with the noro virus, having very thoughtfully come to work, spread their germs around, puked in the staff toilets and breathed on everybody Sad After the week I've just had with Small Girl I can't, can't, can't get ill. She is too worn out and ill and little to get something as awful as noro.
Bloody hell Angry

Have a moan about him Bee, g'wan.

grinningbee · 04/02/2012 14:16

Oh Pixie that sounds grim Sad I hope you can avoid it. That "g'wan" reminded me of Father Ted Grin

It is quite tempting to have a rant.... let's just start with the pair of jeans I had to wash today... he doesn't wear pants, and honestly, the inside of them was a bio-hazard. The seam was brown for goodness sake . And money. I have to justify everything. Everything. And yet I have had to give him some money I'd squirreled away for his tax bill. £650. Angry. It took me bloody ages to get that. And it isn't even for me really! He had a go at me last night for asking for some money, seeing as he was peeing some up the wall today. Needless to say, I didn't get anything.

That's just the tip of the H-berg. I'll stop there before I get too wound up Grin Yes dear readers, I know what I should do.

Anyway, I clicked a most amusing thread as it caught my fancy. All about causes of death back in 1665... turns out the author is someone we know who is drinking pints of tea in her study Wink.

Then again, I like gruesome history stuff. I have books about Newgate prison and all sorts.

Hopefully I'll get to read it properly when the dc are in bed. H should be nicely asleep in his dinner by 9pm. Wonder if anyone has ever drowned in a plate of gravy before .

grinningbee · 04/02/2012 14:16

Oh, how naughty do I feel for pressing send on that post Grin

OP posts:
TheScarlettPimpernel · 04/02/2012 14:18

Grin Grin

It's stupidly compelling Bee,and I have so much to do!!!!

Pix that does sound awful. Can you tie a damp hanky over your mouth or something?? Actually ignore me, after what I've been reading about all morning it's best to ignore any medical advice I might have Grin

TheScarlettPimpernel · 04/02/2012 14:19

at brown seam. That's very 1665, that is!

grinningbee · 04/02/2012 14:46

I like to be descriptive where I can TSP Grin.

Hmmm, the more I think about it, the more I may be inclined to start a thread under a new name. It'll have to wait until next week though. I'll probably also get called an idiot quite a lot, but I think I can take it Grin.

Ah, the benefit of hindsight. Still, I have my two lovely dc, and if I'd run when I should have they wouldn't be here. I've had a pretty nice time so far today. Ds had a long nap, and dd and I had Winnie the Pooh on the telly while she kept bringing me books to read to her. And we watched the Muppet Show on youtube. All that was missing really was a nice log fire. I'd have been in heaven then! .

The sky has gone that ominous "I'm going to snow my arse off on you" colour. Ooooh!
