Sorry chaps, my thinking cap is busted. Best title I could manage tonight!

Loads of comfy chairs in here, bowls of fruit, and lots of superfree veggies to snack on Wink

So, settle in, have a natter, and let's show the lard who's boss!

I haven't forgotten y'all, im a bit swamped with a new hospital / new team / new speciality but will be back tonight to catch up on all the news!

Oh and I gained 2lbs Sad

kid · 02/02/2012 13:06

Hope its going well cheese, I guess you've had a lot on your mind so we'll let you off the small gain.

Tsp, you shouldn't be feeling faint, that's a sign of not enough food/low sugar levels.

There was free lunch at work today, complete with pudding. I've resisted though and thoroughly enjoyed my chicken curry and jacket potato.
I also enjoyed my mushroom omelette but managed to smoke the whole house!

CantSleepWontSleep · 02/02/2012 13:40

hmm interesting discussion. i have now found a site that lets you tell it how much you want to lose over what time period, and it tells you how many cals to have. for me to lose 4 stone by the end of this year it says about 1600 cals now, gradually dropping to around 1300. i have no idea how many i have, but i do eat a lot!

TheScarlettPimpernel · 02/02/2012 13:55

Cheese!

Hope it's going well, matey.

Kid yeah, it was feeling a bit floaty-headed that made me check guidelines on cal restriction - just didn't seem right!

CSWS I think I looked at that site a while back - did it give a week-by-week reduction in calories so you were gradually eating less as you got lighter?? That did make sense and is partly why I've slightly upped my allowance, because if I stick on 1200 now and then lose 2 stone whatever would my cal allowance be to lose the next 1.5 stone?! Confused

DH has just said, "At least you're not on twelve peanuts a day like the Korean prisoners of war" Hmm. Annoyingly, DH is losing 3lb a week

SlinkyB · 02/02/2012 15:29

I've never calorie-counted, am rubbish at maths (poor excuse, I realise). Also, even if I did try it, I would never actually count fresh/raw fruit and veg, as I'm so used to them being 'free' on SW, and can't see how it can be 'bad' for you. Granted, I wouldn't then trough two trays of grapes and a bunch of bananas in one day (I know they're high in natural sugar) as it would probably make me sick and not lose weight.

Fair play to you doing all your research tsp sounds like you've definitely got the knowledge now, it's just finding the right balance for you and your weight-loss programme. Feeling light-headed is obviously Not Right, in fact, I don't think I've ever eaten too little as...erm...I think I kinda have a fear of being hungry?! I eat literally every 2-3 hours, as am orally fixated (oi, minds outta the gutter) and if I ever feel slightly hungry, it makes me nervous/anxious so I usually carry some fruit chocolate bar or a cereal bar on me. Weird, moi? Wink.

Another lovely day off for me, so ds and I have been chilling. We were meant to go to a 1st birthday party this afternoon; got us both ready and in the car and the bloomin' thing wouldn't start. FIL came round and declared dead battery, then promptly drove to the garage to get me a new one, and fitted it; I really do have the best in-laws ever. But it was too late to go to the party so I stuck ds back in bed for a nap and put the kettle and lappy on Grin.

Hope all is well with you cheese bet you're looking forward to the weekend?! Presuming that is you get the w/e off? Hope you're ok.

SlinkyB · 02/02/2012 15:31

Forgot to say Well Done everyone for the fab weight losses this week! I did read The List first thing, then forgot to mention it Blush.

Oh, and tsp don't even get me started on how the men lose it so much easier and quicker; it got to the point in this household where I had to start fattening MrSlinky back up as he was looking scrawny ! Angry. So unfair.

kid · 02/02/2012 17:05

I'm going to pass on going gym tonight for 2 reasons. One, I have to collect DH from work so it would be a rush to get back in time, secondly, its too cold!

But, I'm not giving up on exercise completely. I'm just about to do day1 of shred. Lets hope I get a bit further this time as I don't think I've ever made it past day 7 previously!

Cheeseandbiscuits · 02/02/2012 18:58

I have just lost a huge fucking post. I will try again.

Work is fine, to be expected really. Part time doesn't mean part time admin so bit of work to get done this weekend. DD seems really settled with her nanny and the nanny share is going well. So all in all, it has been successful.

Food wise I have been pretty good. The 2lb gain was booze related and takeaway related last week. Todays food
B: weetabix
L: Beef salad and bread
D: ham and artichoke pasta, salad

TSP you need more calories, girlfried! Otherwise your body stores everything you eat as emergency fat supplies! And you don't want that,do you?! And PMT is a bitch, you will have a good loss next week. Don't be disheartened.

bee Well done on yet another loss. How are things? Hope you now have clean hair! I admire your determination on this diet. Even in the face of adversity, you are still eating cheese triangles and consistently losing each week.

Slinky Congratulations, you old romantic! Do we need new hats Grin. Lets have all the deets about the wedding planning then, I love planning weddings. OOh our first big fat list wedding!

kid you are cracking me up with your food lists for CSWS to check! CSWS is definately the headmistress of the thread now!

Well done to all on fabulous losses this week Envy

kid · 02/02/2012 20:00

If I don't have a good loss this week after having my food scrutinised by csws, I don't stand a chance of ever being slim and I'm going to throw all my toys out of the pram!

I'd forgotten how hard shred was, hate, hate, hate it.

TheScarlettPimpernel · 02/02/2012 21:09

Cheese I'm glad work was fine and the Cheeselet is OK with her Nanny. Boo to admin! You should all have PAs!

Kid if you throw your toys out of the pram Pix will sit on you and give you a pep talk and you don't want that Grin except it's kinda fun

Cheeseandbiscuits · 02/02/2012 21:28

Oh that would be nice tsp.thanks muchly!

Jeez it's cold tonight. Brrrr. I hope everyone is cosy at home

What did I miss about pixie sitting on people?!Grin

TheScarlettPimpernel · 02/02/2012 21:31

She sat on me when I was having a gigantic childish strop a moment of elegant French existential unease Grin

I got in about 40 minutes ago - I'm telling, it's so cold down by the Embankment I thought my ears would drop off and shatter on the pavements. I hope Mr Pimpernel is inside, poor mite...

Cheeseandbiscuits · 02/02/2012 21:46

Oh god poor mr pimpy, bless him. I hope he is somewhere warm!

How did I miss you being sat on? Har Har! I'd better not moan then in fear of pixie. Though she's so skinny now I wouldn't feel a thing Grin

kid · 02/02/2012 21:47

I was in agony walking to work this morning because it was so cold. I don't think I can handle it if it gets any colder. It was -2, thats cold enough for me.

I've just had a roasting hot bath so I'm not cold anymore. I was worried DS had used all the hot water but it seems he saved me some. Speaking of DS and baths. How on earth does a child manage to have a bath and still get out of it with a dirty face?! I'll threaten to supervise him in the bath soon (he is 9).

Guess what I need to do in a minute?
Plan tomorrows food Grin

If I want a takeaway tomorrow night but want a red day, what would people recommend? I have virtually all takeaway options around here, one of the perks to living centrally.

TheScarlettPimpernel · 02/02/2012 22:02

For a red day takeaway could you opt for Indian and have something like a chicken tandoori or shaslick (sp?!)? It'd be lean, skinless chicken with no sauce, but a dry rib. The shaslick would come with griddled veg too...

TheScarlettPimpernel · 02/02/2012 22:03

*rub not rib!

kid · 02/02/2012 22:08

thats an option, will see if I can find out syn value so I don't go over. Thanks Smile

SlinkyB · 02/02/2012 22:30

So glad work and nanny situ has gone well this week cheese, must be a massive relief for you all. No wedding planning to speak of, as too busy getting ready for house move in three weeks time! But we're aiming for a small, intimate do towards the end of the year. Would love it to be very personal and kinda home-made (it'll be a tight budget), maybe even just have a few peeps back to ours after a registry office? I just wanna get married, not have a big/white wedding...so sorry no call to Philip Treacy for you!

kid bloody well done on re-starting the shred, am very impressed, you're so motivated right now. Great that CSWS is helping you too, loving her new Head Mistress title.

Have had two days off, but back at work tomorrow for a day. Then going straight to a mate's for dinner, drinks and a Bluebella party. Am staying over, so a baby-free 24hrs, lovely.

Surely by shivering in the cold we're all going to lose weight? .

CantSleepWontSleep · 02/02/2012 22:58

Evening ladies. It is indeed cold out (-5 on morning school run), but we have our first open fire of the season, so it is nice and warm indoors :).

We live too remotely for takeaways, so I can't really help on that front, but sounds like good advice from the Pimp.

I bought yogurts today. Proper dairy yogurts. Mullerlight ones to be precise. I do so hope that they don't affect the boys, because I ate one tonight and it was lush! Had coconut with dark choc sprinkles. Omm nom nom. I'm going to get addicted aren't I? Have just ordered a pack of cheesecake ones to come on Sat night.

Just done menu planning for the next few days too, as my current plan runs out after tomorrow. I'm going to have a few more red and green days this week and see what effect (if any) that has.

Today's food was:
B wholewheat spaghetti. meant to have a banana but dashed out on school run and forgot it - doh!
S banana (well, better late than never eh?)
L that soup I linked to the other day, with bacon and lentils and orzo pasta. Def recommend it. Melon.
S almonds, dried cherries, vanilla seeds (from graze box. About 8 or 9 syns worth, but I did burn 669 calories at the gym this morning, so I can live with going a little over my allowance today)
D 5 spice slow cooked pork (2 syns, though they were prob mostly in the sauce that was left in the slow cooker!), noodles, pak choi. Pear, grapes, passionfruit, apricot.
S mullerlight yog.

kid · 02/02/2012 23:07

Slinky, I can't believe I restarted Shred, it was 'orrible. I can't believe how painful it is to do. I'm hoping to do it again for the next 2 days and then take Sunday off. I really want to give SW my best shot as I am 1lb above the stone mark. Not the stone bracket I want to be in but better than the one I'm currently in now.

Glad work went well cheese, I remember the feeling of having to go back after maternity leave, it was hard but made me enjoy my days off more. Hope you enjoy your days off too.

I'm expecting it to be even colder tomorrow than it was today, I think I'll be wearing a few more layers as the journey to work was unbearable. Roll on hometime so I can have a rest. One more week till half term, perfect!

Cheeseandbiscuits · 03/02/2012 07:14

Well done for shred kid. I never get past day 1-2. A tandoori mixed grill is prob the way to go with a red day! Or a shashlik.

slinky that sounds lovely, perfect really. How's the move going?

Got to go into work this morning for bloody IT training. Annoying!
B: weetabix
L: ham salad
D: sausage and root veg casserole

Cheeseandbiscuits · 03/02/2012 07:15

csws those ML are delicious! Just be careful as some of them are more syns than you might think. Yum yum though!

TheScarlettPimpernel · 03/02/2012 08:25

ooo yeah thumbs up for Shredding Kid - I have it in mind for later in the year when I'm approaching the Day of Terror (aka Being a Bridesmaid). That Jillian Michaels woman is fecking terrifying looking - I saw her once on Biggest Loser USA shrieking at this poor 20 stone woman who wasn't putting enough effort in "I PROMISE YOU I WILL RUIN YOUR LIFE IN HERE!" Grin Shock

Now then, I am meeting a pal for lunch and the place we're meeting does healthy food, but none of the nutritional information is available online, so it's going to be slight guesswork. Makes me a bit anxious because I don't like feeling out of control, but ne'er mind.

Have a good day y'all. Keep warm! I have just put the heating on and it's pretty rare for us to put it on in the daytime (or, indeed, at all).

grinningbee · 03/02/2012 09:35

Good morning everyone!

Kid Oooh, I bet you're achey this morning Grin well done though.

Poo to training on a day off Cheese. Boo hiss and all that Wink

TSP I hope the lunch out is nice. Don't worry too much though, you know what sort of things to avoid.

We've had more snow during the night. It looks lovely outside with the sun on it. I have to brave the cold though and go and food shop. Woohoo.

Food for the day will be something like this:

Ready brek with 1 x ryvita dark, 1 tsp jam (1/2 syn), banana
Ham and mushroom omelette, fruit and a yogurt
Beef and red pepper stew with carrot and swede mash, 2 slices hobbit bread
1/2 bottle red wine (13 syns)

OP posts:
kid · 03/02/2012 12:51

Yes, I am really aching this morning. Only my stomach and just below my shoulders hurt which are two muscles I clearly use a lot judging by how many times I've noticed the pain today.

Just finished a jacket potato and cottage cheese with cheese and chives for lunch. It makes a nice change to have something different for lunch. I do hope I wasn't meant to add some meat to it for a red day.
