Through rain and snow and skies of grey
We will keep running the C25K
Though lack of sleep and time do test us
We wil not let excuses best us
For 2012 will be the year
For weight loss, fitness and good cheer
Nine weeks of running isn't that long
So come on ladies, get those running shoes on!

Welcome to all runners, joggers, speed walkers and waddlers! All levels of fitness are welcome here on the Couch to 5k support thread. For more information see the NHS website

For sale wave inspire 7 light support shoe. Size 8. Worn 4 times, cost me £90 Blush but think they went to 80 on sale, £50 ? Smile

QueenRunningGeekMum · 29/01/2012 21:00

Well done Debka!

Just to plug Rusmum's trainers, I have those ones and I really like them, shame Rusmum didn't get on with them. Rusmum have you tried putting them on the selling forum bit of mn?

QueenRunningGeekMum · 29/01/2012 21:02

For some reason that deleted a huge chunk of my post...

So glad you made the 20 minutes, I've got that coming up the run after next, am getting nervous Confused

ManyMomentsOfMadness · 29/01/2012 21:07

Well done Debka :) Thats another week away for me.

rusmum · 29/01/2012 21:07

Thanks I will pop them on! Just thought I might find some runners on here lol. X did w2 r 2 today

DorisIsWaiting · 29/01/2012 21:22

Was supposed to do w4r2 tonight but not feeling 100% dd1 threw up earlier and I'm so so Hmm.

Feeling guilty now I've seen you all log in with progress.

Well done!

So many of us are half way through. Ace. Am Envy about all the impressive wieght loss going on. Like others, I can already feel the benefits but weight loss sadly not so much. I've decided I'm not going to sweat about it yet, but I will Sweat. I've ordered the Shred, invested in a couple of weights (1.5 kg - is that very wimpy?) and from tomorrow will alternate with running. Luckily, DD1, who has just turned 8, asked for a gym mat for her birthday (which felt so much better than getting her a nintendo type gizmo like last year) so I'll be able to do the shred on that. I'm intending to go running and shred on alternate days.

This month, my PMT, which is usually brutal, was much less conspicuous than normal - do you think that's a side benefit of the exercise? DH has started coming with me once or twice a week, which - once I'm fit enough to talk and run at the same time - could be another side benefit ('couple quality time').

I'm doing W5R3 on Tuesday, assuming it doesn't snow, and am actually really looking forward to proving to myself I can do it.

Finally, someone asked about run tunes a few dozen posts ago. My favorite this week is 'Love today' (Mika).

jchocchip · 29/01/2012 21:50

Well done debka you've caught me up. I may go out tomorrow and edge ahead again, though I have to go to work so it would have to be later. Laura is so encouraging, isn't she? Week 6 is split into 3 runs again and the first one is three shorter runs so not scary at all! ;)

cinnamongreyhound · 29/01/2012 21:54

My feet are too small for your trainers rusmum.

I am limiting calories as well turningitaround hence the weight loss. I think running has evened my mood generally.

debka · 29/01/2012 21:58

I don't have Laura jchocchip, it's a podcast on my sister's iphone, just a woman saying 'run now' and 'half way' then 'one minute left' then 'cool down'. I'll not be out again till Wednesday now (I run Weds, Fri, Sun) so you'll definitely get ahead. I feel all happy about wk6 r1 too!

jchocchip · 29/01/2012 22:17

No Laura! Do you have some music ? I remember someone saId they were tuned in to radio 4!

Kewcumber · 30/01/2012 00:26

My feet are too big for your trainers rusmum!

And at 17 stone I'm hardly a featherweight myself (though as I was nearly 24 stone so I feel like a featherweight!)

acqua class tomorrow then back to week 1 run2 on Tuesday (if that goes OK I may skip to week 2.

thestringcheesemassacre · 30/01/2012 07:09

Morning all!
Such great progress everyone. We're all really advancing now.
geekmum are there still lots of us regularly posting. Any more stats?

I'm just in from week 7 run 1. Bloody hard going at 25mins. But done.

Well done on all your great weightlosses, keep going all

strawberrypie · 30/01/2012 09:01

Well done everyone and thanks for all the people who have mentioned that the longer runs are achievable
even if they seem daunting!

Week one completed here- w2r1 tomorrow after today's rest day (well no running but I am going to buggy fit for the first time!)

QueenRunningGeekMum · 30/01/2012 09:09

In total, including the first thread, we have had 118 people join.

I hesitate to give stats for the regulars for three reasons:

  1. Some people post maybe once a week at most and so aren't 'regulars', but I don't want to discourage them
  2. The decision on what counts as a 'regular' poster is a bit arbitrary
  3. I can't work out an easy way to calculate it on my iPad!

Maybe RebeccaMN could get some thread analyser at MNHQ to do some proper analysis!

Off out on a walk today that I would have considered too far to walk before Christmas!

QueenRunningGeekMum · 30/01/2012 09:24

New thread is here as I'm going out today and might not be able to create it later!

Mark your places please!

Jnice · 30/01/2012 20:01

Argh! Can't find the new thread on my iPhone Sad

What should I search for?

Jnice · 30/01/2012 20:05

Ignore, I found it by searching for threads with you on Wink

Kewcumber · 30/01/2012 20:26

I'm just in from week 7 Shock week 7 seems a distant dream at the moment!

Kewcumber · 30/01/2012 20:27

obviously that should be "I'm just in from week 7" as I'm obviously not just in from week 7 having started again at week 1...

QueenRunningGeekMum · 30/01/2012 20:33

Kew we've moved, search for couch to 5k to find new thread, or look up thread to get my link

Llinosbengoch · 29/02/2012 14:37

Have done a little running before I had my third baby 4 months ago, but have had very little motivation to start again until today. Am going to give C25K a go!! Pretty tired at the mo, but all the messages have inspired me to start rynning again. Thankyou all!

BettyBathroom · 29/02/2012 14:56

W7R1 done yesterday - very slow though, didn't really get into a good pace...but kept going till the end! Next time will be better.
