Through rain and snow and skies of grey
We will keep running the C25K
Though lack of sleep and time do test us
We wil not let excuses best us
For 2012 will be the year
For weight loss, fitness and good cheer
Nine weeks of running isn't that long
So come on ladies, get those running shoes on!

Welcome to all runners, joggers, speed walkers and waddlers! All levels of fitness are welcome here on the Couch to 5k support thread. For more information see the NHS website

I have been brave and gone back to the beginning and done W1R1 again and its pretty obvious I am going to have to do at least one more W1 run and possibly all 3 of them again. My calf burns like hell and the last two runs were really more of a speed walk than a run (which was worse than the first time I did them) but it was due to my calf problems not the inabilty to do it which I suppose is promising. On the other hand I stretched properly before and after, warmed up well and it felt really good to be back outside running again Shock. I'm going to have a rest day tomorrow as calf is really sore tonight then acqua on Monday then try W1R2 on Tuesday.

Pleased to be back on the wagon even if its back at the beginning. I may not be fit but I'm pigheaded determined.

cinnamongreyhound · 28/01/2012 20:59

I can't run if I've eaten anything mazzi2fly! I had a few bites of ds1's pizza and 3 forks of ice cream cake (possibly the most delicious food I have ever tasted!) at the birthday party we went to about an hour before I ran today and I actually thought I might throw up :(. The best time for me is when I'm hungry, so I run at 5-6pm and mostly dh has dinner ready when I get home as I'm starving by then!

cinnamongreyhound · 28/01/2012 21:00

Welcome back to the wagon Kewcucmber Wink, x-posts.

Are we having a competition for the new thread title again QueenRunningGeekMum?

rusmum · 28/01/2012 21:01

Tell me why I need to get my arse in gear, quit putting it off and get out for a run! Struggling to get going again after illness' Angry I week tomorrow since last run. Sad

QueenRunningGeekMum · 28/01/2012 21:04

Yep, all suggestions for thread titles welcome!

I'm re-entering thighs a-slapping, boobs a-flapping Grin

QueenRunningGeekMum · 28/01/2012 21:06

Rusmum you will feel soooo good when you actually get out there. Don't be a quitter! This is my motivational face Angry going grrrrr get out there!

Kewcumber · 28/01/2012 21:08

rusmum - I haven't run for nearly 2 weeks due to injury but you know once I got out there (very slowly and gingerly) I really enjoyed it.

Watch this for motivation... www.c25k.com/ben_video.html

cinnamongreyhound · 28/01/2012 21:38

You feel sooooo good when you've finished a run rusmum! Think about a few weeks down the road when you can run further and for longer and all the health benefits posted earlier Grin

MetalSian · 28/01/2012 21:41

I'm hoping I will be good to run tomorrow.
Just going to start W4 again I think and hope the 5 days off with sickness won't mean I can't do it.

Jnice · 29/01/2012 00:45

cinnamon I did wk5r2 today, no rest day, bad I know - but I won't get another chance until Tuesday. So I think we are synced again Grin

I think the last 2 runs, whilst not improving time worked on endurance in preparation for the 20 minute run.

ru go into automatic, get your gear on and walk out the door, you won't regret itWink

jchocchip · 29/01/2012 08:23

Rest day today for me. Good luck to everyone going out :) This thread has kept me going and it is helping with the myfitnesspal which I am doing to lose weight. When I started the c25k I had already started losing and was just under 20 stone for the first time in years at 19st 10. I'm now down to 19st 2 at half way through! Also my belt is looser so I must have lost inches. I've a long way to go, but have failed to keep it quiet as I intended because of the sheer number of comments on my weight and clothes...

MetalSian · 29/01/2012 08:49

Okay today is out of the window as well.
DS just been sick again Sad.

Bloody bug.

debka · 29/01/2012 10:03

jchocchip I thought I was the only, how shall I put it, properly generously proportioned lass doing this! I am 20st 10 atm, and when I Hit The Wall in the runs I think doggedly about how great I'll feel when I get under that 20st mark. Huge huge well done to you, hope you're very proud of yourself. I've noticed my clothes getting looser since doing this, especially trouser legs Hmm- i think my legs are toning up.

metalsian that's grim, hope you're all better soon,

20 minute fecker tonight, I'm weirdly looking forward to it...

QRGM can I add belly a-swinging to the title please? Grin

jchocchip · 29/01/2012 11:38

Debka, I was 20st 6 in September just after I had an operation, had managed to get down from 21st 6 which I was in September 2010. I've got no excuse that its baby weight, I lost a bit after my first 2, but after my 3rd it never really shifted and I put even more on Blush after a change of office cut out a bike ride to work and lunchtime swims. I'm just so pleased to feel in control for the first time. How often do you weigh in? It will be a big boost to see the back of 20. :) I'm just one day ahead of you in this. Go for it!

MoneyBunny · 29/01/2012 12:37

W1R3 is out of the way! I am starting to see a pattern here. R1 each week I feel like dying but by R3 it's easy peasy.

Was dying today but now I know it actually will get easier, just like Laura says it will.

MoneyBunny · 29/01/2012 12:37

Haha, I meant W3R1. Didn't see any patterns during w1.

debka · 29/01/2012 13:03

I'm a Slimming World member so once a week weigh ins. I've lost 3.5st so far, since October. I think that is all the baby weight- I'm now a little lighter than I was when I got pg with DD1 (she was born March 2009). I also love feeling in control, and embracing the New Fit and Slimmer Me!

moneybunny I'm the same, the weeks get easier.

ManyMomentsOfMadness · 29/01/2012 14:49

W4r2 done Grin That went much better than R1, PHEW.

Thread title suggestion: C25K: Ouch ouch but get off that couch! :)

Good work everyone.

100years · 29/01/2012 15:18

Thread title suggestion
Big pats on the back because we're all on our way from the Couch to 5K

Debka and jchocchip, I'm another generously proportioned lass :) Although I'm now down to 16st11 or thereabouts, I was once 22 stone, got a long way to go, but I'm getting there, although the weight has been stable since I had my LO in Sept, I'm now thinking I need to start doing something weight wise. Well done to both of you and great weight loss so far, long may it continue.

QueenRunningGeekMum · 29/01/2012 16:34

I'm back from my w5r1 and still Grining! I can't believe how I'm able to handle the 5 minute runs now - when I think back to week 1 and I couldn't quite hang on for 60 seconds!

For anyone that's struggling, with illness, time constraints or motivation, all I can say is just get out there! I would never have thought this possible 5 weeks ago. And Laura's bit where she said "That's you getting fitter" made me Grin

And as for you 'larger ladies', you are inspirational. I'm so glad to be a part of your journey, thanks for sharing

Keep on running!

cinnamongreyhound · 29/01/2012 16:38

Weird I posted earlier but it's not here! Just said Debka and jchocchip I was 18st 7lb 7 years ago when I started aerobics and I thought I was going to die! I really got into it but I did feel self conscious, you've both done well to get this far it's hard enough at 13ish st! I've stayed between 13st and 16st since then but will be so glad to be lighter. Dh insisted on measuring me two weeks ago and I'm sure or dropped inches, will let you know a bit later!

Jnice I will be a day ahead as I'm due to do W5r3 tomorrow Grin will let you know how it goes! The first 8 mins yesterday I could have gone on for longer but the second was harder. Didn't need the 5min walk to recover though which is a good sign!

arabellacaterpillar · 29/01/2012 16:46

Finished week 4 on sat yeah! I'm feeling sooooo much better in myself - exercise makes a huge difference to your life :) TMI but I'm pooing every day, sometimes twice a day and before I started this I'd be lucky if it was once a week (blush). Feels great to not be bloated and my tummy actually feels flat! AMAZING!!!

MoneyBunny · 29/01/2012 17:56

I went for a job interview early January and wore my smart trousers, they felt soooo tight. I tried them on again today (as I got the job and am starting wednesday!!!Grin) and they felt loose!!! So chuffed. Smile

debka · 29/01/2012 20:02

Listen to us all getting healthy and gorgeous!

arabella I was thinking just the same about the poo- I nearly had to stop half way round for one today Grin

Well I just did the monumental wk5 r3 AKA torture AKA The Twenty Minute Run and I bloody did it. It was hard but I got round and feel fantastic! Keep at it ladies- 5 weeks ago I couldn't do the 1 minute jogs and tonight I jogged for 20 minutes straight.

thestringcheesemassacre · 29/01/2012 20:17

debka well done, fan bloody tastic
