Through rain and snow and skies of grey
We will keep running the C25K
Though lack of sleep and time do test us
We wil not let excuses best us
For 2012 will be the year
For weight loss, fitness and good cheer
Nine weeks of running isn't that long
So come on ladies, get those running shoes on!

Welcome to all runners, joggers, speed walkers and waddlers! All levels of fitness are welcome here on the Couch to 5k support thread. For more information see the NHS website

Definitely not running today, been sick twice so will have to hope I am better tomorrow.

Sad

I suppose I did quite well to get 4 weeks in and not have a day missed.

QueenRunningGeekMum · 26/01/2012 19:17

Right, let's get this sorted.

Metal take a few days off and then repeat the last week you did once you're better. You can't run when sick but it's not an excuse to stop long term. Report back to us in two days with how you're feeling.

Asea you're trying to do too much too soon. I am expecting you to report back on the long walks and swimming you'll be doing rather than the running. Once your course is over, we'll still be here to cheer you on with the c25k.

And QRGM, get running already! You may be depressed today but you will feel better afterwards (yes, I have just given myself an asswhooping) [determinedemoticon]

OneLieIn · 26/01/2012 19:38

qrgm have you home out yet?

cinnamongreyhound · 26/01/2012 19:52

Oh no MetalSian, hope you're feeling better soon! The joys of having children, hey!

Don't worry about the cake QueenRunningGeekMum, you'll soon run that off Grin

I have done W5R1 today and I really enjoyed myself, made a longer route rather than running three time are the same one as usual. Covered 2.6k but only started it a minute into the first run so add on the warm up!

People have started to notice my weight loss now, 12.5kg Grin plus my legs are starting to have a bit of definition!

cinnamongreyhound · 26/01/2012 19:53

Are we still together Jnice?

Aseaandthreestars · 26/01/2012 20:12

I am trying to do too much too soon, but I hate being left behind. Thank you for big dose of grip up. Chin has lifted a little higher.

I shall work hard on the course - I think I might need to listen more to the presentations on pacing.

(swimming knackers my back, but I'm not telling Geekmum)

Kewcumber · 26/01/2012 20:19

asea - have you tried pool running? if your local pool has a pool thats all one length and you go when its quiet so you feel less of a tit. I started when I had a stress fracture of my foot many years ago and I swear by it as a great fill in when you're slightly injured. And its slightly but not fully weight bearing.

QueenRunningGeekMum · 26/01/2012 20:22

I'm back! Did 3.61k and that's week 4 over. Glad I went out, was running into the wind at one point, strangely quite fun!

Thanks OneLieIn for checking up on me!

Didn't quite work off all the cake from today, but am looking at today as a temporary blip as far as calories are concerned - back to normal tomorrow.

Asea I'll let you off the swimming! Wink but seriously stay with us and encourage us to keep going, I'm sure it will help motivate you to start up again when you're ready.

Cinnamon so glad you're getting comments on your weight loss, well done! Grin

yehudiwho · 26/01/2012 20:23

missed all runs this week - too much to do- too little time- will have to get to Saturday to do wk4 r2 Blush whole week in between - resolve to do better next week
its that weak point in the plan - we need a burst of week 2 enthusiasm

dotty2 · 26/01/2012 20:36

Well done everyone who's keeping on keeping on. And don't get downhearted if you've had a set back - busyness and sickness is bound to get in the way every now and again. That's why we're on MN and not some scary ultra runners forum!

Aseaandthreestars · 26/01/2012 20:40

Thanks Kewcumber. I did a whole year of aqua aerobics and I don't think I'd be running if I hadn't. I'm trying to come up with reasons why I stopped, but everything I've come up with (backs spasms and some knee pain) could easily be explained by other things. I'm going to have a think about this.

Yep, Geekmum, I'm going to take some official time off instead of planning on running and having to cancel at the last minute. Which means I can keep an eye on you lot and do any necessary bum kicking (but not tonight as I'm so tired I'm trying to stay up until 9, but not a minute longer).

Woodlands · 26/01/2012 21:44

I also ran 3.61km this evening and finished Week 4! Hooray. On to Week 5...

jchocchip · 26/01/2012 22:12

dh did his first week 2 run on his own v proud of him to do it when I was away :)

Jnice · 26/01/2012 23:45

C25k on hold for me now as my baby is sick with a fever, cold and ear infection. He is permanently attached to my boob. Will be back soon though.

Jnice · 26/01/2012 23:47

cinnamon - no, you are leaving me behind Sad

Well done though, hopefully I will get out for a run tomorrow. We had a rare sunny day today which meant I feel extra bad at not going.

nomorecake · 27/01/2012 00:32

hi everyone!
i feel amazing. so proud of myself.
after days of putting it off, i gave myself a big kick up the butt and got out there.
i didnt believe i could run 5 mins.
but wk4 run1 done.
wow, amazing feeling after.
I was ridiculously ungraceful and even grunted and yelped in the last 5 min run.
but jusy kept telling my legs not to stop!!
a proper runner waved at me too Blush

QueenRunningGeekMum · 27/01/2012 07:48

Yay Nomorecake! Well done on getting back out there! And completing the 5 minute run Grin

Mr Jchoc excellent effort on your w2 run, keep it going! Smile

Am actually annoyed that I have no opportunity for a walk today, this fitness malarkey is addictive!

noseynoonoo · 27/01/2012 10:31

nomorecake you sound like me - i was shouting c'mon, c'mon during the last 5 minutes of Wk4 R1. It feels great to finish it though.

This morning I did Wk4 R2. I am finding the 5 minute run tricky but I'm keeping going. I can't believe I am running that far to be honest. Am a bit nervous about week 5.

arabellacaterpillar · 27/01/2012 10:39

I haven't logged in this week - Internet problems, but I did w4 r1 on mon and run 2 last night. Was tough and the 5 mins felt like forever but I did it! Planning to finish week 4 on sat morning.
Come on runners we can do this, keep going!

feralgirl · 27/01/2012 11:21

I am NOT loving week 4, I have to say. I repeated W4R3 today as I've found it so difficult this week. Today was easier, perhaps because I was back going slowly in order to dodge the puddles and the dog shit on my normal route instead of running along nice flat pavements elsewhere.

I tend to do a big groooooaaaaannnn of relief when I get to the end of the last run.

I am feeling terribly unmotivated about it atm, it's a real effort to drag myself out of the door.

HalleLouja · 27/01/2012 12:57

Just checking in. We have all been ill this week. Hopefully by the weekend I can start week 3 again.

I hate the winter - roll on spring time.

strawberrypie · 27/01/2012 13:09

Hi everyone, I have read through the thread and you have all motivated me to get my trainers on! Is it too late for me to join in? I've done W1 runs 1 and 2 and plan on doing 3 over the weekend.

Jnice I think I am in a similar position to you in that I'm doing the runs with my 14 week old LO in her buggy- I'm sure she wonders what on earth is going on!

MoneyBunny · 27/01/2012 13:14

MetalSian Hope you're feeling a lot better today and Jnice I hope baby feels better.

Oh wait, just noticed a lot of people jave been poorly. Hope you ALL feel better.

cinnamon that is an amazing weightloss!

I'm getting ready for W2R3 tonight, really looking forward to it! ! I actually prefer winter cause there is no pollen coming up my nose ruining my life.

MetalSian · 27/01/2012 13:40

Thanks money, feeling a bit better, not been sick today and have stomached two pieces of plain toast.

Have got the day off work tomorrow as DP started being sick last nigh so no chance he will be well enough to look after DS.

Hoping to run Sunday when I have got my strength back.

LookMaOneHand · 27/01/2012 13:57

Welcome strawberrypie, not too late to join in at all! Well done getting started, it's the hardest part :)
