Through rain and snow and skies of grey
We will keep running the C25K
Though lack of sleep and time do test us
We wil not let excuses best us
For 2012 will be the year
For weight loss, fitness and good cheer
Nine weeks of running isn't that long
So come on ladies, get those running shoes on!

Welcome to all runners, joggers, speed walkers and waddlers! All levels of fitness are welcome here on the Couch to 5k support thread. For more information see the NHS website

Shred day 2. Doing shred between runs which is ok but not possible to do on the same day unless I want to die in Worthing agony on the local streets

Looking forward to running tomorrow, w3r3. Not sure if I will make it, out from 7am until 10pm, so early up if I want to do it. Any tips to get me out of bed?? Think I might lay my clothes out and write myself a note...get out of bed you lazy cow or something similar!!Grin

OneLieIn · 16/01/2012 21:24

Writhing agony....not Worthing and didn't mean to offend anyone who lives there

Jnice · 16/01/2012 21:28

OneLieIn lol at worthing in agony Grin

I'm doing w3r3 tomorrow too, am pretty excited to finish this set. I have an idea for you, sleep in your running gear, have a bottle of water and a banana by your bed to eat/drink first thing and get straight out there - quick shower and change at home and you're all set.

I might be the only person in the world to think its ok to sleep in your gear and not totally gross Blush

Jnice · 16/01/2012 21:29

Yay cece - so much easier isn't it? Well done for being so committed, I would likely have put off starting until I had the mp3 player.

Jnice · 16/01/2012 21:33

I'm happy to report a 2.5lb weight loss over the past week! Have been tracking diet on mfp and running plus the mom & baby fit class and walking. Basically doing some exercise every day. Last night I tried out a new app - Nike training club, which has a load of exercise routines that you can set to your own playlist. I did it in the lounge with headphones on much to dh's amusement! Even on beginner it was really hard though and I had to modify a lot.

It's a good app, and free Wink

OneLieIn · 16/01/2012 21:36

jnice do you think dh might think its some weird role play? You trainer, me massively unfit mother GrinGrin

Vajazzler · 16/01/2012 21:48

W3R1 completed this evening. It was much tougher than w2 i think. Going from 1.3 to 3 mins at a time is a big jump but i managed it. I surprise myself with every run :)

QueenRunningGeekMum · 16/01/2012 22:34

Welcome 8oreighty and iloveamerman

'Twas my day of rest today, but did 40 walking which included a steep hill whilst pushing pram. Tomorrow evening is marked for my next run... It's gonna be bracing! Grin

QueenRunningGeekMum · 16/01/2012 22:35

Vajazzler I surprise myself too! What a lovely feeling though Smile

cece · 16/01/2012 23:06

Jnice - it so cold here, that my DD wanted to sleep in her school uniform tonight! Not really helped by the fact that my heating is broken. The plumber was here 3 hours today and it still doesn't work! Shock Bah!

ln1981 · 17/01/2012 00:52

Hi all. Haven't been able to get online this past week-getting back into routine now kids are back at school!I have kept up the running though! Finished wk2 on sun night, goodness it wasd hard!was -4 and freezing fog! My chest was aching! Starting wk 3 tomorrow-can't wait.get a proper catch up on this thread in the morning!

Jnice · 17/01/2012 01:22

OneLieIn fun in the sack just one added perk Wink

cece that sucks - hope the boiler is fixed soon. We have more snow forecast which might put a spanner in the works for tomorrow.

VelmaKelly · 17/01/2012 03:25

Second attempt at Wk4R2 this morning. Better than first attempt but still not fully complete. The 5 mins run are knocking me for six. Has anyone else found the step from Wk4 R1 to R2 hard?

Oh - and can I be really NASTY and comment that at 6.30am this morning it was 25 degrees........ Grin

OneLieIn · 17/01/2012 07:00

W3r3 done before 7am. Didn't have to sleep in my running gear either.

It is lovely out there, chilled out quiet music, birds tweeting, icy cold and so pretty.

If I can do it, anyone can. Come on!

thederkinsdame · 17/01/2012 08:36

Morning all! Brrr! It's freezing here! I may have 2 rest days in the vain hope it might be 15º warmer tomorrow Grin Will see what it's like at lunchtime.

BettySuarez · 17/01/2012 09:00

velmakelly it was 25 degrees here too UNDER MY DUVET!!! Wink

Just completed wK2r2 on treadmill - was a bit worried as not much of a morning person and struggled to manage a bit of toast - but it was (ish)

Well done to everyone else on their runs this week especially those of you freezing your lollies off in the UK Grin

dotty2 · 17/01/2012 09:24

Did W3R1 last night and surprised myself by finding the 3 min runs OK - especially the second one. And the frost sparkling in the lamplight was so pretty...

Panadbois · 17/01/2012 09:40

just checking in to say that I'm not running again until my foot's better.

Hope to catch up with you all soon, go go go!

CoolRunnings · 17/01/2012 10:19

W3r1 completed, ran 3k (had the buggy again) and I'm pleased with that. Week three on my programme is six three minute runs with a minute walk in between each one. Is that similar to the Nhs one?

arabellacaterpillar · 17/01/2012 10:25

Did w3r1 last night, I thought it was quite a step up but I was able to manage it. Was very pleased with myself after! Rest day today but I'll take the dog out at lunchtime.

toxtethogrady · 17/01/2012 10:44

hi there
am about to embark on 1st run of week 3 with the robert ullrey couch to 5k. can anyone enlighten me as to what horrors await me tonight? am fearful!

BettySuarez · 17/01/2012 11:14

On my version week 3 look as follows:

jog 90 seconds/walk 90 seconds
jog 3 minutes/walk 3 minutes
jog 90 seconds/walk 90 seconds
jog 3 minutes/walk 3 minutes

With warm up/cool down

Dont fancy your version mucho coolrunnings Grin

Jnice · 17/01/2012 11:27

OneLieIn - yay! Good for you!

I am slightly concerned about today's run (also w3r3) - it has been snowing and I have to push the buggy round the running track. Hope it's not too deep.

WinterGoddess · 17/01/2012 11:37

W2R3 completed this morning. It was freezing though on walk to school and I nearly went home for a cup of hot tea but I braved the pavements and within second I'd warmed up and was enjoying the frosted surroundings. Looking forward to starting my next run - I find the stopping and starting tricky...looking forward to the weeks with the longer runs, they are easier - I just need to get a little fitter. Practicing breathing this morning - big breaths in - fast short breaths out, makes a difference to energy levels when you get it right.

weblette · 17/01/2012 11:59

Another w3r1-er

Found it much easier than I expected and ran an extra 3 mins at the end :)

Good luck to everyone else going out today!
