Through rain and snow and skies of grey
We will keep running the C25K
Though lack of sleep and time do test us
We wil not let excuses best us
For 2012 will be the year
For weight loss, fitness and good cheer
Nine weeks of running isn't that long
So come on ladies, get those running shoes on!

Welcome to all runners, joggers, speed walkers and waddlers! All levels of fitness are welcome here on the Couch to 5k support thread. For more information see the NHS website

I'm bricking it at the idea of 3min run! Last week 2 run tomorrow.

yehudiwho · 17/01/2012 12:21

meant to do r3w3 yesterday - didnt- this morning - didnt- having read this will definitely go tonight when ds at football training. thank you all for preventing my procrastination

very nervous at week 4 - anyone with any advice

cinnamongreyhound · 17/01/2012 13:26

I found it easier than I though to do 3 mins Kewcumber!

I am quite chuffed today as someone finally noticed I've lost weight! I have now lost 11Kg in 10 weeks and can fit into a lot of old clothes but it's always nice to be told you look better! I think the running is speeding up my weight loss and my fitness pal is really handy as it gives you a calorie limit depending how much you want to lose and has most foods already on it.

CoolRunnings · 17/01/2012 15:37

Well done on your weight loss Connamon! I've lost 7lb since last Sunday but still have 28 to go. Got a pretty strong feeling I won't be losing another 7 this week sadly. Wink

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 17/01/2012 16:00

I can definately confirm that short fat dog is looking a lot less fat than he was so it must be working

I cant say he is that keen and he keeps trying to veer off homewards but I am mean and make him do the whole thing.

He really is a very cute doggie

CoolRunnings · 17/01/2012 16:01

Connamon?! Bloody phone, apologies Cinnamon! Blush

thestringcheesemassacre · 17/01/2012 16:13

Getting myself psyched up for 8 bloody minute runs tomorrow.
Shitting hell!

Well done on the weight losses all, it's great to hear.

Kewcumber · 17/01/2012 16:52

have "popped" something in my calf today - no, not running - walking home form school!

Have physio in the morning so hopefully she will say its OK to do my last W2 run tomorrow.

MetalSian · 17/01/2012 17:02

Just completed W3R1. I managed it but it was a terrible run today. For the first time my legs felt like lead all the way round and now they are hurting Sad.
I hope the next run is better. Feeling very down after that.

Well done everyone who keeps getting out there and running.

delilahbelle · 17/01/2012 17:23

Just finished W4R1 - my god it nearly killed me. My legs are aching now, not looking forward to tomorrow.

On the plus side I can now spend the rest of the evening on the sofa guilt free.

Not losing any weight though - probably because this running is making me stupidly hungry. I've stopped eating the unhealthy snacks at break at work and have switched to fruit, hopefully that will make a difference.

yehudiwho · 17/01/2012 18:27

just done week3 run 3 [eyes Thursday week 4 warily] my breathing is much better but my poor legs - they feel so weak - dead chuffed that I feel so much fitter

QueenRunningGeekMum · 17/01/2012 18:52

Off out now for w3r2. If I don't post within two hours I've died of hypothermia.

Well done everyone who ran today and have successfully guilted me into going tonight

rusmum · 17/01/2012 19:45

W2r1 what a joke- I hobbled around half my normal route. My calves were cramping, my knees clicking and my shins aching. All I could do to put I leg in front of the other Sad . Will try again tomorrow Wink

rusmum · 17/01/2012 19:51

Anyone want to buy my wave inspire 7 shoes lol Wink

RebeccaMumsnet · 17/01/2012 19:59

yay, W3R1 done.
My ankle is a bit wibbly atm but hoping it is a minor niggle and I will be back to normal on Thurs for run 2?

QueenRunningGeekMum · 17/01/2012 20:02

Ah rusmum you have to try again, you can't quit on me, we're wave shoe buddies!

Plus after dreading going out tonight, I enjoyed it! Like others I am finding that my breathing is really good now, the only thing stopping me is the leaden legs (is that a word?) which prevent me going faster.

Looking forward to next run on Thursday! Grin

jchocchip · 17/01/2012 20:02

week 4 run 1 done :) Ran very slowly by the river and saw a heron. Very pleased with myself for surviving. And I went for a swim straight after and managed my 40 lengths this time. At some point I am going to have to speed up, but impressed that I can now slow jog for 5 mins without my lungs imploding!

QueenRunningGeekMum · 17/01/2012 20:03
QueenRunningGeekMum · 17/01/2012 20:04

A heron! Wow, that's one for the spreadsheet, well done Jo

QueenRunningGeekMum · 17/01/2012 20:04

Sorry Jc

Jnice · 17/01/2012 20:45

Finished and survived week 3 despite the snow on the running track making a very bumpy ride for DS.

I think wk 4 r 1 on Friday as I have stroller fit tomorrow and a full day Thurs.

CoolRunnings · 17/01/2012 20:51

Just ordered the shred, I don't have time for my Wii fit at the moment as ds has decided naps are for the weak. Hoping I can stick him in his baby cage play pen for twenty minutes a day and get on. Looking forward to w3r2 tomorrow, anyone else running?

MoneyBunny · 17/01/2012 21:02

Just finished w1r2 and it actually felt good considering i'm overweight . 30 mins, 3.6 km and 276 kcal.

I've ordered shred too! Can't wait!

cinnamongreyhound · 17/01/2012 21:10

My dog is a greyhound so already skinny OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere but she is also heading for home regularly!!

Thanks CoolRunnings, still need to lose 2kg to be overweight rather than obese based on bmi. Aiming for 25kg total loss, so getting on for halfway! I'm on W3R3 tomorrow so will be with you tomorrow, about 6pm.

That's rubbish rusmum but keep trying, none of us are at the peak of fitness Grin

Jnice I should be running W4R1 Friday too, bit worried about it but I managed W3 despite my apprehension so I think a PMA is required!

ManyMomentsOfMadness · 17/01/2012 22:13

Hi All :)

W2R3 done tonight. Week 3 begins on Thursday, bit worried about the 3 min runs but hearing so many of you enjoying it is spurring me on.

Keep going everyone.
