We will keep running the C25K
Though lack of sleep and time do test us
We wil not let excuses best us
For 2012 will be the year
For weight loss, fitness and good cheer
Nine weeks of running isn't that long
So come on ladies, get those running shoes on!

Welcome to all runners, joggers, speed walkers and waddlers! All levels of fitness are welcome here on the Couch to 5k support thread. For more information see the NHS website

Hey kewcumber and mazzi2fly, I did my w2r2 this morning too Smile

And I'm the same, moneybunny, I NEED the music to drown out the noise of my breathing otherwise I concentrate too mug on it and almost forget how to breathe! Start taking great big gulps, all out of synch.

I get the same if I'm walking up stairs and start thinking about what I'm doing - I start tripping and missing steps. Am obviously a hugely coordinated person! Not

topsmart · 16/01/2012 14:55

Much not mug! Ha

HalleLouja · 16/01/2012 16:13

Week 3 day 1 completed on Saturday. Now I need to do day 2. Thought my mum might be around today but she isn't so will try tomorrow morning.

Maybe I should try Laura though I heart Raw-bert.

MoneyBunny · 16/01/2012 16:37

Where's Raw-bert from? Is he good? Doing Laura now and she's ok.

DorisIsWaiting · 16/01/2012 16:52

Already had my first setback Blush was supposed to do w2r2 on thursday but had a PTA meeting (can't run daytime due to toddler). Really didn't feel up to running Friday and thought sod it i'll do sat and sun instead..... cue cold weather and a treadmill that decides it doesn't like the low temps!!!

Got the machine running finally on Sunday (oil filled radiator in garage!) and I'm now wrapping it up in blankets when I've finshed to put it to bed...

Still w2r2 completed but with the days off it was a bit harder than i'd anticipated (although I did raise the incline too).

Am going to do a bit of wii fit tonight as I quite enjoyed that on Sat when I couldn't run.

DorisIsWaiting · 16/01/2012 16:58

for those wanting a distance on my treadmill, I run at between 8.0 km/hr and 9.0km/h (depending on R1/R2 or R3) and walk at 6.0km/h (I have short legs!) I am covering an average of 3.6k.

HTH

Aseaandthreestars · 16/01/2012 17:00

Thanks for lovely advice, especially Geekmum who is scarily good at this and asks perfect questions. You are all right - it would have been ok to rest or ok to run. I chose to run - it is such a beautiful day that I just couldn't bear to waste it.

W3 R1 done. It is a bit of a tyke of a run, but it is over very quickly. Got a bit of a pain in my calf - posterior shin splints - which is a nuisance as I have no idea how to stretch a muscle that is attached to a bone (without breaking said bone).

The good news for me is that everything else felt fine; cardio system was up to it and my feet were perfectly happy, which is very good news considering that my toes tend to subluxate.

Please come back next week Webminx - we'll be looking out for you to get going again.

LookMaOneHand · 16/01/2012 17:14

Well done Doris (and all) - I fell behind over the weekend too and finished off week 2 today after four days rest.

You're inspiring me to push myself on the treadmill - I've been walking at 5.5 and jogging at 8.0. I'll get w3r1 out of the way on Wednesday, but depending how that feels, for w3r2 on Friday I think I'll try and bump the speed up to 8.5 and 6.0. :)

BettySuarez · 16/01/2012 18:11

Ermm ... I jog at 5.5 on the treadmill Blush Grin

LookMaOneHand · 16/01/2012 18:27

Grin Betty

It's all relative!

Woodlands · 16/01/2012 18:37

W3R1 done today, though with a break half way through to collect DS from nursery. Hope that doesn't mean it doesn't count! I had to run on still-frosty pavements in one place but it didn't seem slippery.

What on earth did RebeccaMumsnet say that she had to withdraw?!

CoolRunnings · 16/01/2012 18:56

Betty I did too, on a good day Blush. It's my day off running today and I haven't done any excercise apart from a walk. I should really go on the Wii fit but I'm curled up on the sofa under a duvet...

cinnamongreyhound · 16/01/2012 19:14

I've done W3R2 today, felt harder than R1 but felt back to normal very quickly afterwards. Was surprised that despite the frosty ground it wasn't slippery at all. The cold air was harsh on the lungs but otherwise didn't feel the cold at all! No idea distance or speed maybe need to look for another app to measure that Grin

Don't remember RebeccaMumsnet saying anything offensive woodlands!

8oreighty · 16/01/2012 19:20

I have just started, on week 2 and have pulled a muscle on the bottom of my right foot...quite badly! How sad is that..,not like I wasn't taking it easy, so giving it a rest

rusmum · 16/01/2012 19:43

Brrrrrrrrr cold! Should be a running night but brrrrrrr. -3 at mo. go I run or have 2 rest days lol. Wonder if it is skippy? Grin

rusmum · 16/01/2012 19:43

Slippy lol

thestringcheesemassacre · 16/01/2012 19:55

Run rusmum go on.
I went at 6.30 this morning and you warm up v quickly when you start to run.

JennyPiccolo · 16/01/2012 20:07

Just completed W2 R1 and it was easier than i thought it would be. I have really sore calves though, what am i doing wrong?

Iloveamerman · 16/01/2012 20:41

Hi, can I join in too please? New to mumsnet too (though been lurking for a while). This is my 2nd attempt at Couch25K, I only got to week 3 last time but determined I will do it this time! Did week2, run 2 this morning and despite not wanting to go out in the frost really enjoyed it, it was beautiful running round a reservoir in the sun and frost, and sort of felt like I'd been cleaned up on the insides after breathing in all that cold air, mmm, sound like a hippy but maybe someone will know what I mean!

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 16/01/2012 20:47

I have been hiding Blush
I missed a whole week last week because I was feeling a bit rubbish.

BUT I didnt week 2 run 1 today and it was fine. The dog tried to kill me by veering towards the park entrance as we were running past Hmm

I thought it was a bit easier than week 1 because you get more walking time.
How is every one doing?

I am still hating the music. OH and my ipod lost all the downloads and I had to find them all again.
Hi Iloveamerman welcome Smile

DorisIsWaiting · 16/01/2012 20:52

Sounds fab ilovemermen.... it's days like that when I feel bad running inside and think what I'm missing, on the other hand when it's pissing it down raining very hard ...

Betty so long as you are jogging it matters not at what speed. I've run before on the treadmill 6 months or so ago til I stopped! We all come from different places so really comparison is futile.

Right off to shift dh off the tv so I can wii Grin

DorisIsWaiting · 16/01/2012 20:53

I love laura but her taste in music SUCKS

cece · 16/01/2012 20:59

w2r2 done Smile

My goodness it was hard though...

rusmum · 16/01/2012 21:01

I wimped out Blush but to make up I. WILL start week 2 tomorrow. I did buy of cardio at home instead! Grin

cece · 16/01/2012 21:09

Oh and to say my MP3 player arrived to day so finally got the lovely Laura to talk me through it. Much easier than trying to keep an eye on a stopwatch. Smile
