Ditsydotty · 03/01/2012 16:23

So whether you have a little or a lot to lose, join me for a weekly weigh in - we could even have a slimmer of the week.

Just add your stats (don't be scared) - but I think it works if you're really honest.

Ditsydotty
Joining Date: 3rd Jan
Starting weight: 11st 1lb
Target weight: 10st 4lb
Why: Just want to be more comfortable in my clothes that are a bit tight & I'm going to be 40 later this year.
Method: Mainly low fat with a vague eye on carbs

I hope there are some others out there, who are up for a weekly weigh in & some mutual support & tips.

Oh no! Bought new scales which are certainly uniform i.e. same reading every time but they make me 3 kg heavier than the others!!! :( I got my son to weigh himself (used him as my "standard" as he was weighed at school last week) and they also showed a discrepancy. Then got my DH to jump on - again a discrepancy. Then we weighed his dumbbells (a definite weight) and guess what - they were exactly the same on both scales.Confused Feeling very dejected and topped it off by trying on my last years ski wear which I can't now do up. Now sobbing in the bath and contemplating the last of the chocolate cake. I really need to get a grip on this and lose some weight somehow - starting to feel quite down. My DH says my obsession with it isn't helping and that I need to chill out a bit and maybe that'll help. Come on folks, inspire me. :(

Tyson86 · 17/01/2012 19:45

AfternoonNap, dont let the scales win! My scales change depending on which tile I put them on Hmm
I obviously choose the lower weight Wink
I am measuring my body and going by that more then the scales :)

Ditsydotty · 17/01/2012 19:57

Hi everyone, well done for reporting those fab weightlosses ! Well I did 1lb off, which I was actually quite relieved about given very poor Thurs-Sat. Posting back on here has definitely made me be more rigid about getting back on it otherwise I would have done my ususal and undone all the good work from one week. Welcome to the new joiners also, I'll update the stats list later & add everyone new in & all the updated losses.

Me and you then afternoonnap. No change hear either. Sad

Minimammoth · 17/01/2012 20:06

Here dammit

LifeIsSweeeet · 17/01/2012 21:16

Evening all! I am also -1lb this week. Not particularly surprised, haven't been trying my hardest so will do much better this week! Well done to everyone who has lost :)

JugglingWithSnowballs · 17/01/2012 22:47

Losing a pound a week is good though Sweet - especially if you can do the same next week !

Ditsydotty · 18/01/2012 08:56

AfternoonNap - How frustrating, but don't let other people get you down or push you towards the cake ! Start again from today, with the new scales, and just go with whatever they say. But make sure they are on a solid flat surface, same position each week - and don't let anyone else near them. (mine gave me 3 different measure this morning as they were on slightly wonky tiles.) Keep on the thread though, and keep posting. Go buy some more skiwear in a bigger size, and flog it next year when its too big !

OP posts:
JugglingWithSnowballs · 18/01/2012 09:01

I'm thinking our scales are probably buggered now as DH was weighing his check-in bag on them last night as off to India this morning !
So, if they don't accurately show my amazing weight loss, you'll all know why Grin

TobyLeWolef · 18/01/2012 09:52

What Ditsydotty said, AfternoonNap.

The new scales aren't the enemy for reading your correct weight. They're just telling the truth. So now you can start again, knowing that your weight loss is being accurately recorded and there's no ambiguity. In the back of your mind, using the old scales, you must have been wondering how much of an accurate picture they were really painting.

The scales are just to help measure your progress, that's all. The real measure is when last year's ski-wear is too big and you have to buy new stuff!

Ditsydotty · 18/01/2012 10:22

Here's the list - shout up if I've got anything wrong ! AfternoonNap - haven't changed anything for you, as not sure what your final declaration was. Have a think about what you feel comfortable with - but do stick with us won't you.

Just to keep it manageable I'm going to be ruthless & trim down the list if people haven't posted in weights after three weeks. A bit like a proper class, where you have to rejoin if you miss classes. But of course rejoining the TUESDAY weigh in club is absolutely free Smile

And Slimmer of the week is GetorfmoiiLand with an amazing 4lbs, taking her total weight loss to 9lbs. An imaginary calorie free takeaway is the prize this week. Well done, any tips for the rest of us ??

Okay deep breath considering the enormous Indian last Thurs and being I'll past 2 days I find I am....
10st11

At least I have t put any on though. Roll on next week!

YourCallIsImportant · 18/01/2012 22:41

SW this morning and have lost 2lb, which isn't too bad considering it was my birthday a few days ago and I had lots of Prosecco and cake.

I'm back to my pre Christmas weight of 11st 5lbs.

I've broken my target into half stone chunks. Do you think it's reasonable/doable to lose 7lbs a month?

AfternoonNap · 19/01/2012 05:35

Hello. Thanks for the words of advice and, no, I haven't fallen off the wagon :). I am still confused though as the new scales still seem to be giving inconsistent readings. Both my DH and DS have had medicals at school/work which are pretty much the same as the old scales while the new scales have told them they are heavier. What to believe - my old scales which weigh the same as 2 independent sets or my new ones which have added another 1.5 kg (so 3 in total) to my weight Confused No need for new ski wear just yet - I still have 5 weeks to go and should be back in the trousers by then. They really are my most reliable friends when I can't trust my stupid scales. Think I'll throw them out of the bloody window and record my weight on a "wishful thinking" basis :).

GetOrfMoiiLand · 19/01/2012 10:11

OOh I am such a saddo because I am ridiculously pleased that I have won the slimmer of the week award, and can have a virtual kung po chicken and fried rice!

I am pleased with the weight loss, but think it is because I have been really rigid, I eat three times a day and have little or no snacks in between, and have very boring things (porridge or scrambled eggs in the morning, soup and yoghurt for lunch, carb-free dinner in the evening). I am also not drinking and exercising every day. Luckily DP is following the same diet as me, so we chivvy each other along.

afternoon that must be so annoying, instead of weighing yourself at home, do you have a Boots or some pharmacy near you with a weighing scale in? You can measure yourself there once a week (weighing the same clothes). That is what I used to do before I owned scales, it was better actually as it stopped you hopping on every day and getting disenheartened with the natural fluctuation of weight.

yourcall well done for your loss, I think half stone chunks (losing half a stone a month) is a great idea. They say that average of 2lb loss a week is optimum, so that would fit in, and also it breaks the diet up into mini goals. You can treat yourself to something at the end of every month if you have achieved your weightloss.

Someone on another thread said that 2lb is the maximum of fat you can lose in a week, anything above that is likely to be muscle or water.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 19/01/2012 10:12

By the way my DP has lost bloody 1 stone 2 lbs in the same timescale as me!

Admittedly he had more to lose anyway, and has been exercising a lot more, and plus he is out of doors all day (is a stonemason) so burns off a lot more calories than me.

Minimammoth · 19/01/2012 18:42

Woohoo Getorf. Well done you.

FaffTastic · 19/01/2012 20:37

Bit late checking in but another 2lb off this week bringing it to 4lb in total so far. Better than nowt I suppose!

GeekLove · 19/01/2012 21:46

I use my Wii fit as it is the most accurate set of scales in the house. However it must be on a hard surface otherwise it will underweight you.

MonsterBookOfTysons · 20/01/2012 19:32

Hi its Tyson86

I have bought a 1kg bag of sugar and am planning on testing my scale with it!!! Grin
