I WILL lose weight now. Anyone up for doing this with me and having a nice safe threat to bore the pants off everyone share our progress?

:) Vicar

gravitydefier I am doing it through Weightwatchers online. I really couldn't be bothered with going to the meetings Grin. You can sign up for 3 months for nothing if you go through Quidco, then only around £10pm

Ben10HasFinallyLeftTheBuilding · 21/01/2012 11:27

BTW I am also in the healthy range and was when I started but want to get to around 21 or 22 BMI as that is where I feel healthiest.

I haven't used any of my weeklies yet, just my 26 per day but we are going for an Indian tonight so will use a few then. However I've decided that I'll just have two veggie side dishes (as I really like them more than the meat dishes) and split a nan and rice with DH. That will only be 28 points. Dinner is normally around 12 so not too many into the weeklies. I'm really enjoying houmous with raw crudites for lunch at only 2PP and it really fills me up :) I grated an apple into my porridge before I made it and put in a few raisins and some cinnamon. With 1tsp of golde syrup and 1tbsp of 0% greek yoghurt it was very tasty and v v filling. It was a massive bowl!

GravityDefier · 21/01/2012 11:36

Oh that's interesting Ben10, I will check that out. DO I basically just take the code to the weight watchers check out and then pay nothing? That seems weird, but online would be good.

That sounds like a great night out.
I have been craving some proper Italian food for a while and think I might go for it on Valentines Day as DP wants to go out.

If you sign up online, can you see how many points restaurant food has?

I love porridge for breakfast. I have been mixing in a bot of diet chocolate powder and a banana, and it's so lovely!

Ben10HasFinallyLeftTheBuilding · 21/01/2012 11:53

You need to sign up for a Quidco account if you don't have one. You paste the code in at the checkout and pay around £30 for the three months (the code gets you a free signup). Then in around 3 months you get paid £30 cashback from Quidco. If you have an ipod/iphone/ipad, there is a WW app which you can use as well as on the PC. DH loves it on his ipad. If you signup online there are loads of foods on there but I have found this thread here to be very helpful at pointing our dinner for tonight :)

Grin Diet choc powder in my porridge tomorrow. Actually no, not sure that my mint choc one would be so good with fruit in it. Need to get more stocks in :)

Ben10HasFinallyLeftTheBuilding · 21/01/2012 12:42

Found this linked on another site. Loads of PP values :)

DashingRedhead · 21/01/2012 13:16

It's not the cheapest Sal, but you save so much time and you're much less likely to lose the run of yourself and snack while eating if you know it's going to be ready in a few minutes. I really do think it's worth it.

I'm not having a good week, am using up a lot of my weeklies but have also got out for a couple of power walks, so am not going to beat myself up. I haven't lost much this week so far, but if I sharpen up my act and drink less, I'm pretty sure it'll all be ok. It's just hard because I don't want to make the whole family eat penitentially! So the mushroom soup we're making for lunch is going to be 7 points, when I know I could shed 3 of those if I were just making it for myself.

And as for supper... Perhaps if I just STOP DRINKING, but this is actually impossible for me. No will power Sad

Despite my post-car-crash pizza, I've done OK this week. I've had at least a couple of leftover points at the end of everyday and I have 34 weeklies left! But what I'm most impressed with has been my ability to give up coke. I usually have at least a couple of glasses of the full fat variety a day and really miss it when I don't but I don't even seem to think about it any more. Its in the fridge and I've just poured a glass for DH but I'm happy with my squash.

Good job I get a fresh set of weekly points tomorrow as I'm taking DS to a birthday party at McDonalds and I know all of the adults are going to be eating too. Not what I need the day before weigh in! I'm still considering treating myself though Blush

My ribs are better now so I'll be back on the shred next week - it looks like I'm going to need it!

ThatVikRinA22 · 21/01/2012 23:15

ive fallen off the wagon with wine again tonight....and id lost a pound i think this morning - ill have put it back on i reckon.

still. off for another run tomorrow. not buying any more wine this week cos i just drink the bloody stuff! i will have to settle for my G&T and im on nights from Tuesday anyway so wont touch a drop....

IF i lose something for next thurs i am booking a meal out for me and DH on Sat. just got to think whats not massively points laden - i guess that means the indian is out then.

Ben10HasFinallyLeftTheBuilding · 22/01/2012 08:03

Vicar we were out last night for an indian. I resisted the starter and poppadums (sp?). I had 2/3 of a chicken balti and half a nan. I also had all the salad that came with my husbands starter and my sons main. I was absolutely full and it came to 18 PP. I had 12 left for dinner so only 6 off the weekly. I realised how stuffed I normally am after an Indian as I was still stuffed without the extras. We have the remainders of our curries in the freezer (we love a doggy bag Blush ) to have for another treat with microwave rice. You might be able to do it if you plan the rest of your week right ie no wine Grin

My exercise bike should come next week. It is being set up in the living room like they do on that Sky 1 Fat Families programme and I will do it twice a day. I have very poor stamina still after my operations so short bursts are best at the moment. Am going to ask my physio if I can do the pilates classes that the adult learning do for people with health problems. It won't help me lose weight but might help with toning the muffin tops

GravityDefier · 22/01/2012 12:18

Thanks for everyone's welcome and the great tips Ben10! Those sites look great.

I had indian takeout yesterday too, felt so sorry for myself with my cold that I didn't want to cook and DP was busy with work.
I had chicken Korma, and saw online they say it has 24 in a restaurant. So I think it's a bit more for a takeout? That's all my weekly points gone. And naan bread, Oops.

Ben10, you did much better than me! Well done for having so much self-control.

Dashi · 22/01/2012 14:05

Hi Ladies,

I was on a WW thread this time last year, lost 21 lbs and got to goal in Feb, which I am pleased to say I have roughly maintained by loosely sticking to the points since.

Currently about 5 lbs more than I wanna be (after Christmas) so trying to be a bit stricter to get back to goal, and maybe a couple of lbs lower.

The link that Ben10 posted was useful, however, I was a bit gutted to see only 3 things from the Prezzo menu! It's one of my favourite restaurants and is always really hard to point when I go. Going this week (to Prezzo), so wondered if any of you have any other hidden websites that may have Prezzo menu points on??

Thanks, will now have a read back thru thread (haven't been on MN for about a year....Shock)

Dashi

Dashi · 22/01/2012 14:07

Have just realised that Dashi and Dashing could get confusing.....what can I say, I have 2 massive Octonauts fans and I take a lot of photos.....

Dashi · 22/01/2012 14:09

Sorry, me again, just wanted to add that last year, when I was on the other WW thread (not actually sure if it's still active or not tbh??) I definitely found the support of the MN thread useful and really helped keep me motivated and on track.

Good Luck everyone!

Ben10HasFinallyLeftTheBuilding · 22/01/2012 19:13

Here you go Dashi Prezzo

Dashi · 22/01/2012 19:24

WOW Ben10....thanks!! Will take a proper look in a minute, feel I should really be upstairs helping DH put the kids to bed instead of checking MN Wink

Blatherskite · 22/01/2012 20:07

Well, points were well and truly blown today but lunch was late enough at least that I haven't felt the need for any Dinner tonight. I still feel bloated and actually quite sore from what I ate earlier! Guess my stomach has shrunk.

I have a feeling whatever I ate today will have cancelled any weight loss out for tomorrow though. Going to have to be extra strict next week to get back on track.

Ben10HasFinallyLeftTheBuilding · 22/01/2012 20:40

Sorry for TMI but does anyone have any problems with constipation since starting WW? I am definitely having loads more fruit and veg, mostly raw in the last week as well as a curry Blush. Might resort to my lactulose Blush

Blatherskite · 22/01/2012 21:02

Definitely Ben Blush I guess it'll get better as our bodies get used to the new diet?

My tummy is still really sore and uncomfortable. I'm really regretting that McDonalds earlier and not just for the calories any more Sad

Dashi · 22/01/2012 21:02

Ben10, Yes, yes and ohhhh yes! I started Propoints Nov 2010, and I definitely was quite 'bunged up' for a while. I couldn't work it out as I was eating more fruit and veg than ever before! I put it down to having literally less food 'to come out' Blush...sorry, but you get what I mean??!!

I can't remember how long it lasted, but I am back to 'normal' now...and still eat plenty of fruit (probably 10 plus a day)

GravityDefier · 22/01/2012 21:47

I am glad everyone else is saying this! I am not in pain or anything but I don't go every day anymore, sometimes several days in between. I wonder why because I do eat so much more in regards to fruit and vegetables!

Ben10HasFinallyLeftTheBuilding · 22/01/2012 21:50

Oh good. Sorry. I'm not really pleased that you are all constipated. Well just a bit :)

I have industrial volumes of lactulose so have downed some tonight as although I'm not in pain, it is definitely uncomfortable. As I type the dulcolax advert is on TV Grin

I think that I am meant to be drinking loads more than I do. I have about a cup of tea an hour :) and about 3-4 more glasses of tonic/lemonade/water. Will try and up it tomorrow. I'm not a good water drinker though.

Dashi · 22/01/2012 22:05

Hi again, just had a read through the first few pages of the thread, and just wanted to say, for anyone doing WW old system, I would highly recommend trying propoints. I did WW on and off for 10 years, by myself, stuck to it very rigidly, and did lose weight, but found it hard to maintain. I never went to meetings, just had all the books at home.
In Nov 2010 I joined WW officially, with some of the other schoolmums. It was when Propoints first came out. In my personal experience: Propoints, once you get used to it, is much eaiser to stick to, and the 49 bonus points are great. The fruit being zero points is great too, as all I have to do is count points for 3 main meals a day as long as I only eat fruit in between, which I do mostly.
I also found going to a meeting helped, well, tbh, I didn't often stay for the meeting as I felt motivated enough, but the public weigh in, and even just wanting to please your leader, is a big motivational factor.

I was 10st 7lbs in most of 20's, crept up to 12st 7lbs after birth of DD1, managed to get back to 11st 4lbs after DD1 and then DD2, but just got stuck at the 11 stone mark. Since starting propoints, I got to 9st 11lbs after 5 months of doing it (my goal). Got Gold membership, which is also a massive incentive to keep the weight off, cos you get free lifetime membership.

I go to WI's about once a month, to keep me on track, and at times like just before christmas, I go weekly, to keep me even more on track.

Anyway, sorry to harp on, just trying to be a bit motivational if I can be Blush.

Blatherskite · 22/01/2012 22:18

I've been trying Senokot to unbung but it doesn't seem to be doing much. In a past job, I did the point of sale displays for Dulcolax oh the glamour Maybe I'll give them a go instead.

Dashi · 22/01/2012 22:28

always a senna the night before WI day Wink
