I started on Christmas day (stocking filler from dp I had been begging for). I'm going to combine it with running and hope it will replace the gym (as post dd2 I have not the time to go as she bf all the time!)

So I've done 2 days im on level 2 and find it tough but good

oh no, notvery - I have to diet too?! The shred is hard enough without denying myself yummy food too..........
there really is no easy way is there?

notveryinventive · 25/01/2012 21:11

no sorry Sad

ReduceRecycleRegift · 25/01/2012 21:12

I lost 3lbs the first week, had a very naughty weekend (FOOD wise and cocktails! minds out of gutter please Wink) in the middle of that but dieted all other days and also did gym classes

THIS week however I've had 3 days off from shred due to work, a big meal out and just home from a party with loads of unfilling but fattening finger foods Hmm, so god knows what the scales will do to me on friday Hmm

ReduceRecycleRegift · 25/01/2012 21:13

I tried to fill up on healthy food before I went, but kept going back for more nibbley crap Sad

beatofthedrum · 25/01/2012 21:35

Weight doesn't matter so much as what you look like though surely - if you're toning up that is great! Just done my first shred and liked it - am using cans of beans instead of weights though, had better invest! It's the strength bit I find the hardest as well. So pleased to have found this thread :)

ReduceRecycleRegift · 25/01/2012 21:37

yeah yeah I know! but I WANT my weekly kind scales fix as well as loose clothes Grin

Haziedoll · 25/01/2012 21:47

I started yesterday, hoping to combine it with couch25k but haven't started the running yet.

I don't do any exercise so was expecting to find it tough but so far I'm not finding it much of a challenge. Does it step up a gear when you reach level 2?

Haziedoll · 25/01/2012 21:49

Forgot to ask, do I do 10 days on each level?

ReduceRecycleRegift · 25/01/2012 21:58

I'm trying to do 10 of each because if I do less of level 1 and 2 I'll get bored of 3 as the days drag on

ReduceRecycleRegift · 25/01/2012 21:59

with level one I found it got harder as the days went on as I was doing it on muscles that were only worked the day before

Level 2 is harder in that I can't do all the exercises all the way through and I could from day 1 on level 1

Haziedoll · 25/01/2012 22:01

Thanks RRR. I'm not sure I'm doing the press-ups properly, I'm trying to watch the TV whilst doing them which isn't easy!

bigTillyMint · 26/01/2012 07:10

Day 19 - level 3 day 2 done.

RRR, thanks for the link - I can do standing press-upsSmile I am trying ANita-stylie travelling press-ups which seem to be OKish, but am really struggling with the coordination and technique for the arms/legs ones with weights. I guess I will have to get DD to watch and show me what to doBlush

MariaCallous · 26/01/2012 08:50

Hazie, I have moved up and down if my muscles got too sore or if I just couldn't face level 1/2 that day. You move when you feel ready but I would have no issue going to level 2 for a day and then dropping down again if it's too hard.

I find the pendulum lunges impossible and am concerned for my knees - any suggestions?

Oh, and I've ordered a zumba DVD for the post shred world and am thinking of starting a c25k soon.

My energy is just shit though. Virus after bloody virus. Whinge.

rosalux · 26/01/2012 09:18

L2D2 (D10 overall) completed. Still sweating buckets but not aching all over - just my butt! Can't bear the squat front arm raises and am having do these and a couple of other exercises with 2kg weights rather than 3kg. Also doing mostly Anita on the cardio but hoping to move to Natalie by L2D5. Haven't lost any weight I don't think (can't weigh in my house as the floors are so uneven I lose/gain up to 10lb depending on where I put the scales!) but I am trying to modify my eating by cutting out the rubbish food, and not snacking after dinner. I am also aiming to start reducing portion sizes in a week as I wind down breast feeding (SO not the magic weight loss panacea I was promised).

putyourhatonsweetie · 26/01/2012 10:15

l3 day 26 done, but left shoulder starting to ache a bit so will be very happy in four days time when it is all over (well for a couple of days before I decide what to put my body through next)

clare8allthepies · 26/01/2012 12:10

Hi, anybody had a few days off and got back into it? Did 2 weeks only missing one day (evil hangover Blush) but I've been laid low with a horrible cold and have now missed 3 days in a row. I had done 3 days of level 2, would you just go straight back to L2 or try a couple of days of L1 to ease back into it. Really don't want to have undone all my good work so far!

Haziedoll · 26/01/2012 13:24

Anyone finding that is making them hungry? I was doing well on the losing weight front but now really craving sugar.

ReduceRecycleRegift · 26/01/2012 16:48

Clare I went back to day 2 of level 2 after my days off, I find shred EASIER after a break an harder as consecutive days go on and my muscles are tight

bigTillyMint · 26/01/2012 17:05

rosalux I am doing all the exercises (even level 3!) with 1.5kg weights! My next weights up are 2.5kg and feel loads heavier.

Should I be using the heaviest weights now? What is everyone else using?

clare8allthepies · 26/01/2012 18:06

Thanks, will definitely make the effort tomorrow morning!

catsareevil · 26/01/2012 18:24

Has anyone else found that shredding has made their calves bigger? I could hardly get my boots zipped up this evening. Confused

notveryinventive · 26/01/2012 20:26

Ive definately found my jeans and pyjama bottoms feel tighter on the legs, but more in the thighs. Though Ive just had my shower after shredding and my calfs definately felt firm.

I really didnt want to tonight, but didnt want to give in as I am determined to see this one through. Im still doing level 1 as I want to start L2 on a new week, but I also find some of the exercises really difficult to do them all just yet (mainly the ones where I lift my arms above my head and the bicycle crunches at the end) and often miss a couple out. Still finding it much easier than day 1 though. So thats 11 days done so far.

BackToBligg · 26/01/2012 21:06

I'm doing the bloody thing now. Started last week then gave myself the weekend off. Started again Monday. I can do it ok but finding the jumping jacks a killer. I think I'm landing a bit funny on our slippy floor so giving me pain. Can I give myself the day off tomorrow? Also, starting a cold so achey.

Hathall · 26/01/2012 21:24

Have just done L1d5. I'm using 1.5kg as thats all I can handle.

I think its fine to have the odd day off here and there.
