So, here we have our nice new little thread. No food type is banned from being mentioned. It is Xmas afterall Xmas Wink. So pull up a comfy chair, I've put a good film on the telly for you, put some logs on the fire and laid out some snacks. We have stollen, mince pies, chocs, shortbread, smelly cheese and crackers, wine and baileys.

Feel free to add anything else!

This thread will self destruct later in the new year, so don't worry about confessing to eating naughty nibbles, or putting on the odd pound (or 8).

Enjoy, and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Xmas Grin

You're meant to count syns?! Blush Grin.

Hedgepig · 30/12/2011 21:39

Apparently!

SlinkyBells · 30/12/2011 21:48

I never was much good at maths, and I'm not about to dig out any GCSE text books, either Grin

Hedgepig · 30/12/2011 22:18

I'm so old GCSEs were invented when I was a lass Grin

pixiestix · 31/12/2011 16:17

So very very glad that none of my family read the article linked to on this thread before Christmas. Xmas Hmm

kid · 31/12/2011 16:52

what a silly question Hedge, the answer should have been Chocolate and wine of course! How can you have one without the other? Grin

I have actually looked through the new SW mag and have done a menu plan for the whole week - starting from Monday. I have decided that everyone in the house will either eat what I'm eating or they will have to go without. I don't see why I should have to do everything (washing, ironing, cleaning, dog walking, cooking, washing up and go to work full time) and also have to worry about if x, y or z will eat what I have to eat. So, I reckon DD is going to be pretty hungry this week as she is a little fuss pot!

I'm off to a party tonight and will be sleeping over. DH is dogsitting which I think is hilarious as he pretends not to like the dog (but I know he loves him really)
I have absolutely no idea where this party is but I'm hoping I find it okay. Opps, was meant to find my inflatable matress. Nevermind, if I drink enough I'll sleep anywhere.

Hope you all have a lovely night, lets all stick to our new years resolutions. Mine is to stick to sw, completely do-able, I think.

SlinkyBells · 31/12/2011 22:28

Happy New Year DoDers! Hope you're all having lovely New Years Eves...I'm struggling to keep my eyes open after a long day sales shopping Blush.

May 2012 bring us health, wealth, and happiness ... and skinny bodies Grin.

grinningbee · 01/01/2012 00:15

Happy New Year everyone!

Onwards and downwards,

Happy New Year!!!! Its going to be a cracking one for us all, I just know. Grin

So, I had a weigh this morning and (predictably) I am hugely heavier than two weeks ago BUT lots less than this time last year. Hooray!
1st Jan 2010 13 st 9
1st Jan 2011 12 st 12
1st Jan 2012 10 st 5

Not too bad! This is the year I will hit my target and be beautifully sylph-like forevermore. So there. Wink Grin

grinningbee · 01/01/2012 09:48

Good morning!

Yay Pixie that's fab Grin. Yep, this is the year we will reach our targets. I'm doing my post Xmas weigh in on Tuesday morning . The tin of celebrations never did get opened, so I'll put them away for Easter I think.

We were given a box of shortbread (large) and a box of M+S biscuits yesterday. Those'll get given away hopefully.

Hope you're all feeling chipper, and not too hungover! Wink

Morning Happy New Year Doomers here's to a good year of dieting for us all .

I joined SW on 24th Feb last year and my target is to be at target weight by that time this year, 2 months to loose a stone perfectly doable so long as I stay focused (wipes nutella from around her gob, it was on wholemeal toast Grin)

Had a nice New Years Eve with DH who cooked steak and chips for us. My youngest was up at about 11 and wouldn't settle until I went to bed with him, so missed midnight.

Have a good day all, we are hopefully going for a walk if the rain holds off

pixiestix · 01/01/2012 15:25

Wow, a will of iron to stay away from the Celebrations Bee! I ploughed my way through all the orange and strawberry cremes in our Quality Street tin Blush No hangover for me today as I ended up going to bed at ten thirty after a blazing row with DH. The year can only get better from here I suppose!

You can definitely make target in two months Hedge! You have done so well. I really hoped to get down to my target in a year as well, but the year is up on the 10th Jan and I still have at least a stone to go, if not a stone and a half Sad Can't quite decide on my final target - I still feel much too big and its been so long since I have been within a normal weight range that I don't know what is realistic to aim for. The weight I first had in mind when I joined SW I actually haven't been since I was about 18 so its probably a bit pie-in-the-sky. Mmmmmm, pie! Grin

kid · 01/01/2012 17:54

Happy New year DoDers.
I went to a friends house last night. We all drank LOADS. We played kinect against eachother which is always hilarious after a few drinks. I know their is.video evidence, god help anyone who puts it on Fb!

I went to bed at 4am, was woken by my very drunk sister at 5am, alarm clock went off at 6am, drunk sister woke me again at 7am and ds woke me at 8:30am so i decided to get up.

I'm totally exhausted now but am going to stay up as normal as I'm back to work on tues so need to get ny body clock back to normal.

pixiestix · 02/01/2012 16:58

Back on plan from yesterday and, oh boy, am I getting withdrawal symptoms from all that fat and sugar over Christmas. I feel starving and cross and miserable! Angry Sad And I know its only because I want to eat something hideous and filthy.

Please tell me you haven't all gone seamlessly back into hobbit bread and colonic pies?? I haven't cheated yet, mind you, only mentally tortured myself!

happynewRia · 02/01/2012 18:34

hi all. Happy New Year Xmas Grin

gawd I am sick of foodShock My mother (yes, the very same one who keeps going on about my weight and diets etc) has spent the last 2 days force-feeding us all buffet food! (we didn't eat enough last night so she invited us all round for lunch today to finish off the leftovers.)

we went to Knaresborough yesterday to the annual duck race. it poured down and we got soaked. we did walk up the huge hill though. and I fell asleep in the car on the way home so we didn't even sneak in some sale shopping.

Spent NYE coughing and spluttering sat in a friend's barn, hoping no-one would kiss me (they did), the kids had a ball climbing on the stack of bales watching the grown-ups (except me - ill and DH - driving) getting trollied.

is there a low/no-syn SW kedgeree recipe?

DH has found out via a message someone else posted on FB today that there is a big family party coming up (we will be expected to attend if they remember to invite us). So, we have 16 weeks to complete a transformation.

Not sure when we will get started TBH, still have stuff to eat up, plus planning a big day out later in the week with McD's as we the kids haven't been in ages, then it's DS2s birthday at the weekend. Maybe it would be better to start on Weds as planned, and stay on plan as much as possible, allowing exceptions for Thursday and Sunday? Might go for a bit of a brisk walk later.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 02/01/2012 18:40

Happy New Year!!

I am back from my travels and full of snot! We had a fab fab Christmas and New Year. I have eaten a truly hideous amount of food. From tomorrow, I am back on plan. I just weighed myself and I am disgusted. I might as well be back to square one. I only have myself to blame - I haven't really stuck to plan since Nov.

Anyway, it is now 2012 and I am determined to start as I mean to go on. So from tomorrow I will be back to food listing and exercise! I will let you know about withdrawl pixie

bee how are things with DH now?
slinks any news on the move? Did you make it to Wales? Are you back to work this week?
pixie sorry about NYE being a blow out, can you have a night out to make up?
hedge Booo about missing midnight but hopefully you had a lovely snuggle with DS instead.

kid · 02/01/2012 18:51

I'm back at work tomorrow so have waited until today to get ill. I also let dd invite 2 friends round for some stupid reason. I am very easily irritated, I threatened to send ds to bed if he comes anywhere near me (not quite but I'm thinking it)

I can't be bothered with dinner tonight, might have some savoury rice just to keep the hunger at bay. I was meant to cook cabonara out of sw mag but really can't be bothered now. I got everyone else fish and chips instead.

Had a good last day off work. Back on plan, bloated belly going down already and i got loads done at home today. I'm looking forward to dropping dc off at their nans tomorrow, just wish i was able to go back home afterwards instead of to work.

happynewRia · 02/01/2012 22:37

do any of you run? am considering C25k, and am wondering if I started that next week(-ish) would I be able to run the sport relief mile (1 or 3) by the sport relief date, without looking like a sweaty beetroot and passing out?

also, if anyone has good tips for undectectable murder of bastard ex-BILs, they would be well-received!

CantSleepWontSleep · 02/01/2012 22:40

hello all. seems ages since i last posted, and am only going to be brief now I'm afraid.

ria - I have a recipe for sw kedgeree - free on green (uses eggs instead of fish, though you can obv add fish if on ee) and EE, though you'll need to add your 1/3 superfree somehow. I will dig it out and post it tomorrow. If you are shopping then I know it needs eggs, orange lentils, cinnamon stick, fresh coriander, onion, basmati rice.

kid · 02/01/2012 23:09

Ria, I tried C25K but didn't get very far with it as I hated running in the street. I managed to do the run, it was just the location which was a problem for me. Give it a try, its free to download and you are meant to run 3 times a week. If you hate it by the end of the 2nd week, give it up. I didn't actually make it to the 2nd week so I failed miserably!

I am being all organised and very good with SW, well today I have been anyway.

I am not confident I am able to do it properly as I haven't been to class ever and my books are antique.
Today, I used this months magazine to help me with my meals but I don't really know syn value.

I had:
2 weetabix, mild, tea
2x white bread(only bread I had) with baked beans
pack of batchelors savoury rice with chicken, peppers and spring onions
2 chocolate digestive biscuits.

Thats not much food actually but its all I've had today. Think I need to bulk it up a little bit more.

Tomorrows menu looks a bit more interesting, providing I can stick to it.

B: 2 rashers bacon, grilled tomatoes and mushrooms, 2 x wholemeal bread (400g loaf), banana
L: tuna, new potatoes, boiled egg, shredded lettuce, cherry tomatoes, lemon juice
D: Spaghetti Carbonara (from this weeks magazine)

Plus fruit throughout the day

I love having my meals planned, it makes me feel so much more in control.
Unfortunately, DH threw our scales away so I can't WI, hopefully he'll get some decent ones soon. By decent, I mean ones that tell me I weigh less Grin

kid · 03/01/2012 07:27

Good morning, I'm actually up, dressed, hair straightened, breakfast cooked and ate and now I have about an hour before I have to leave.

I can highly recommend the grilled bacon and mushroom sarnie, even this early in the morning. Just need some tea to wash it down I think.

Guess I should wake dc up soon, but its so peaceful I'm not sure u want to shatter that silence.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 03/01/2012 08:03

Well done kid that sounds yum!

Dd and I have filthy colds. Bleurgh! Food looks like:
B: weetabix with skim milk (heb and a)
L: omelette and salad
D: pork stirfry with rice

Sainsburys delivery at 9pm so I have to stick to plan - there is literally nothing else to eat.

grinningbee · 03/01/2012 08:18

Morning all!

That sarnie sounds lovely Kid. Good luck back at work today, and anyone else going back today too. Tis a nasty old day out there.

Cheese it can't be that bad, but if it was you know what you're doing so it won't be long before it's off again.

Ria undetected murder ideas....? Let me know if you get any Wink. Sorry you're having grief though.

Pixie I'm starting back today. Yes, it will be back to hobbit bread, but I need to shop before I make a colonic pie. We have no fruit or yogurt in the house, so as much as I don't want to go out in the yucky weather with the dc, I'm going to have to Sad.

Things here are just ok. I've had a very very long chat with his knibs. I uncovered yet another fib two days after Xmas that was a corker. He'd sent someone an email pretending to be from me, delaying paying a bill by saying he was in a pyschiatric unit because of a loss we'd had. I was slightly gobsmacked as you can imagine. Turns out that last car accident he had did have a cost involved, but he claims he didn't want to worry me.

It's all fun and games, isn't it!

Food for the day:

Weetabix
Cheese triangles on toast (with fruit and yogurt if I go out)
Quorn chilli and rice

Time to weigh in shortly and I'm dreading it. I'll be up over the 12st mark again I'm sure. I need to get losing again as I've got to buy a dress - been asked to be a godmother!

OP posts:
Cheeseandbiscuits · 03/01/2012 08:45

bee that's awful Angry. And a bit screwed up. Is there a reason he feels he can't be honest?
I'm also over 12stone Sad

happynewRia · 03/01/2012 10:26

morning all. thanks CSWS, that would be fab - I made kedgeree for NYD brekkie, I don't like it but DH does, and it will be handy to have an extra breakfast to keep him amused.

bee. I don't know what to say to that one. My DH went through a very unfortunate period of not being completely honest about money when I was first depressed, he thought he was helping me by keeping it from me. He came to realise that was not a good thing to do, but it made trust hard for a whileSad. If you have started talking that's a good thing. Take care (and get to the the CAB when you can - that's where my sis is today. Hopefully they will advise her to stab him with a toasting fork, break his knuckles with a toffee hammer, chuck his clothes out of the window and change the locks...)

just had my new year weigh in (because I needed to know the damage and couldn't wait until tomorrow) ...
