So, here we have our nice new little thread. No food type is banned from being mentioned. It is Xmas afterall Xmas Wink. So pull up a comfy chair, I've put a good film on the telly for you, put some logs on the fire and laid out some snacks. We have stollen, mince pies, chocs, shortbread, smelly cheese and crackers, wine and baileys.

Feel free to add anything else!

This thread will self destruct later in the new year, so don't worry about confessing to eating naughty nibbles, or putting on the odd pound (or 8).

Enjoy, and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Xmas Grin

Good morning/afternoon,
So this is where you are all hiding?
I haven't made it near the scales yet but my jeans were a bit on the tight side yesterday so I am guessing the scales won't be very kind to me so I've decided to steer clear for now. I was not in a good mood yesterday so I skipped lunch and dinner. I know its not the way to lose weight but I seriously need a jump start (that doesn't involve any form of exercise)
It actually feels like I have been in the gym alot as my whole body is aching, particularly my stomach. Maybe its just stretched to its limit after all the food I've been eating.

I'm sorry to hear you're not having a good time at the moment bee
If eating the chocolate will help you feel a bit better, then go for it. You need to look after yourself and do what needs to be done. Hope all works out well.

I suppose I should go and get dressed now, been lazing around all morning but the housework isn't going to do itself and DS needs to come off the Xbox now as I think 4 hours is more than enough!

I'm going to have to plan some meals too, but maybe I'll finish off the chocolates first. Bad idea I know but someone has to eat them Grin

grinningbee · 28/12/2011 12:56

It's ok. On the plus side, if certain behaviour continues, I'll be losing 19 stone Xmas Grin. Of course, I am trying not to think about all the horrible downside bits. That's a bit like looking into a black bottomless pit! Still, not going to go on about it because it's a beautiful sunny day at the moment.

I really shouldn't be feeding my face, and I'll bet next week the gain is about the same, but it'll come off again when the determination kicks in mid next week. I still have 3/4 of the Xmas cake to eat, plus Xmas pud and brandy butter and lots of mince pies (did give away 2 boxes yesterday though). Oh, and we haven't even opened the tin of Celebrations yet.

Anyone else going to join me in the weight fessing up today?

kid · 28/12/2011 13:42

I did WI today to see what all those bottles of wine and endless chocolates and biscuits and cakes had done to my weight and its not as bad as feared.
I've gained 3lb (since I last weighed myself many weeks ago) so I can live with that. Do you know, between 4 of us, we drank 8 bottles of wine over a 2 day period Shock It must have been low alcohol or I just wasn't drinking as fast as the others as I didn't get drunk.

We had the most delicious chocolate cake in the fridge and it would have been such a shame to waste it so I just shared the remainder with it with DC.

Right, last day of binging today and then back to SW 100% like I was in the early days.
I think I'll scrap gym until I am back at work, might dust off the Shred DVD (might).

Bee just focus on the here and now don't worry about too far ahead as you will literally drive yourself bonkers!

SlinkyBells · 28/12/2011 15:00

Hi all,

Dss was still poorly yesterday, so didn't come to Wales with us visiting my family Sad. He was sick again last night when we were home (he'd stayed with PILs during the day) bless him. Think it's norovirus, so am a little paranoid he's passed it on to us, although no symptoms yet (I do keep getting little waves of queesyness, but think it's psychological!). Dp dropped him back home this morning, not that he wanted to go.

Oh bee, I'm so very sorry to hear that Sad. Things haven't been right for a while, have they? Am here if you need me ((hugs)). Agree you must try and take each day as it comes.

Hi kid! Well done only putting 3lbs on in all that time. I too have been enjoying the odd bottle glass of wine lately. Was given two big bottles of amaretto for Xmas, was drinking some last night with ice and cranberry juice and it was lovely!

Just popped on scales:

+1.5lbs this week, so back up to 11st 1lb.

I seem to be playing yo-yo with this 1.5lbs, have been for about six weeks! No doubt will gain a little more before next week. Am with the others in that I have far too much crap in the house, lots of chocolate, sweets and cheese...and Dp's Nana bought us a 900g box of biscuits?! WTAF am I going to do with those? Think dp will be taking them to work, along with all the continental biccies I bought the chocolate and cheese can stay.

CantSleepWontSleep · 28/12/2011 19:15

Just a quickie for now - hopefully back later. Proper WI today, and 1lb off, making 2 stone 2 lbs in total. I think I lost a lot the first half of the week!

Hedgepig · 28/12/2011 21:16

Evening all, back from my parents In the Land on no WiFi and pants data connection Xmas Shock. We've had a great time but I am so looking forward to my own bed tonight. I'm going to RL weigh in Tomorrow and will let you know the damage. Might do a run in the morning if I get up early.
bee sorry DH is being a daft sod, hugs and sorry to everyone else who is not feeling tickety boo

CantSleepWontSleep · 28/12/2011 23:01

Bee - well done remembering that I am prone to ear infections. I am indeed. Ended up doing a 2 hour round trip boxing day morning to go and see an out of hours doctor at a hospital in one town, then get my prescription filled in another town and then get home again! Anyway, am still a bit rubbish, but nowhere near as rubbish as I was.

Am sorry to hear that things are not good between you and your (d)h bee. Mine is a lazy irritating shit a lot of the time, but he doesn't lie (except to say that he'll do things 'in a minute' and then not do them, but that's not the same at all).

Fingers crossed that the rest of you don't catch the bug slinky.

rowingboat - have you ever tried Oxygen shoes? They are only a small company, but their shoes are massively wide. There was a thread on here years ago where very wide footed people measured around their feet to all claim that they had the widest ones. I didn't measure at the time, but made a mental note to do so, and of what the widest measurement anyone else had had was. When I eventually did measure, mine were 2cm wider! So I am definitely qualified in wide feet!

Got the new members pack from rl class today. It confirms that tomato puree is now free, and I think the milk allowances have gone up a bit, but the ww brown danish bread is now only 2 slices for a HEb instead of 3.

rowingboat · 28/12/2011 23:43

Hi all,

Bee I don't really know what has gone on with your and your DH, but I hope it does improve and the maniac man keeps away as well. Poor you, sounds like a nightmare at the moment. On the plus side, as you said possibly 19 stone will drop off (I know that's a bit flippant, but I'm searching for a positive - sorry).

Cantsleep I haven't heard of Oxygen shoes, but I'm googling them now... Still don't have the crocs to try, so starting to worry about them. Have read quite mixed reviews.

Slinky your poor DSS I hope he will be on the mend soon. Usuall with norovirus the worst of it is over quite quickly so he should be on the mend soon. It couldn't be food poisoning could it?
I'm 5'5 and weigh about 11 stone and want to lose a stone. I have a large frame and 10 stone is a good weight for me, but I just can't stop eating!!

Kid it's so hard when there is so much norty food in the house. I felt a bit queasy tonight and was trying to stick to bananas, but then ate two chocolate bars from DS's selection pack instead of dinner - ridiculous and now am munching Ferrero Round Noir - absolutely gorgeous I must say, but I do feel sick now. What a huge surprise!

We did a bit walk today, in the crazy wind and rain so probably covered around 4 or 5 miles, but it's all for nothing with the chocolate frenzy.

I'm finding this on-off tummy things is putting me off proper food and I am tending to eat sweets instead because I'm hungry. Wah!
This has to be the last of the binging!!! Stop.

grinningbee · 29/12/2011 10:03

Morning all,

Thanks everyone, and a big squeezy hug to you Slinky. Just briefly, dh lied to me about being at work when he was actually out drinking with his friend. Again. Just over a week since he did it to me last time and I had him about it. I can't tell you how close I was to telling him to go, but (like a muppet) I've said one more chance. There's more but it'd bore you to tears.

How long are we thinking he'll last?

Back to the jolly old weight loss stuff now. I think I'll be back up over 12st next week, but after that it's downwards all the way.

2012 is going to be an interesting year one way or another! Grin

OP posts:
SlinkyBells · 29/12/2011 13:15

Oh dear, thought that might've been the problem bee. Has he promised to stop drinking, or just to stop lying about it? He's pissing me off and I've never even met him ! Angry

Why is it your babies suddenly get even cuter and funner six days before returning to work full time? Sad Am pre-menstrual too, which can't be helping. Am sure it'll all be fine and the time at work will fly by .

rowing I'm 5ft 7" and around 11st, but 10st 10lbs is my target. In case you didn't know, most of us on here are doing Slimming World, either in RL, using their online service, or cheapskates like me who've done it before are just basing their diet on the basic principles and using this thread for (fantastic) support and recipe ideas. Why did you have to mention Ferrero Rocher Noir?! I had my one and only FR at my sister's the other day, never tried the dark chocolate version but they sound delicious! Grin.

Erm, I'm still in my pj's and haven't even brushed my teeth today yet - it's great! I even went back to bed 9am-11am whilst ds napped - bliss! Have friends coming round for dinner tonight, so will shower before....honest! Wink

grinningbee · 29/12/2011 14:14

Envy of the pj day Slinky.

He's promised to stop lying about it. Not actually doing it though . He's at work all day today (supposedly) and it's all caught me up. I'm feeling very p'd off. He accused me of being a fake over Xmas because I couldn't possibly have been happy, due to knowing what he'd done (found out for sure 2 days later, then confronted him).

Surprisingly enough, I genuinely had a lovely day watching my dc have a fab time and a whirlwind of shredded paper etc. Fake my arse! Angry.

I'm going to be changing a few things (going to try and get added to the secure tenancy - funny how I got left off) and find out some info, just in case it is needed.

Wrong thread for this totally (sorry) but I realise now what a muppet I am (fab dc excepted). I moved away from my home town of 35 years, lost all my friends bar one, sold my house (equity went as he handed in his notice when we got married), no money of my own, family got slightly estranged as he didn't want to go to bbq's/Xmas dinner etc. It's classic isn't it.

Anyway. I should start a different thread (can guess the advice). So that's that on here for now.

I think the FR on top of my wardrobe may be coming down later on! Just eaten pate on toast with a cuppa. Mmmmmmm yummy Smile

OP posts:
kid · 29/12/2011 16:13

bee, definitely get yourself added on the tenency, you need to know you will be homed should anything happen to the home you're in now. I think being lied to is a horrible thing, it takes away any trust that you once had. I am forever telling DC how important it is to always tell the truth even if they have done something bad. They don't always follow my rule but if I say it enough to them, it will eventually sink in. Neither of them are massive liars but I hate even the little white lies.

I have chicken out for dinner tonight, no idea what else to do with it. I think I have some chargrilled potatoes and veg in the freezer which will be lovely. There, dinner sorted even if its not SW. But after McDonalds for lunch, I don't suppose thats going to hurt! Actually, I think I'll get the chocolate gateau out of the freezer to make way for some healthy food to be bought.

Talking of buying, I went out today to let DC spend their Xmas money. It didn't take them long which is no surprise as it was burning a hole in their pocket. I bought myself a tumble dryer and happened to find £50 in my purse, I was well pleased Grin

House is still tidy which is a miracle. Not looking forward to going back to work, would like a couple of more weeks off after the DC go back to school.
I have to take DS to the hospital in a couple of months to get him checked out due to his recurring migraines. Bloody nuisance as I know they will do all the basic height, weight, eyes checks and then just tell which medication they can prescribe. I'm not actually interested in medicating him everyday unless we have no other option. But, I'll worry about that closer to the time.

Can anyone suggest some meals for me please? I'm being super lazy and would love even more than the suggestions if someone wants to pop round and actually cook for me? I can pay you in chocolate, tea and I'll even do your washing so I can use my new tumble dryer!
Any takers????

RiaInExcelsisDeo · 29/12/2011 18:23

kid, the menu in the new mag is pretty appealing, and will be my blueprint for my first week back on-plan. (Lucky me, getting it under the treeHmm)

HUGE bee. Make lots of positive plans and hang on in there. Could you start to build bridges with your family or is it too big a step? (please excuse that as a suggestion if I am being too nosey). Maybe don't start a new thread just yet, wait until we aren't being quite pro-active enoughWink

glad everyone had a good time over christmas, sorry for all poorlinesses. I didn't WI yesterday as I was in bed all morning with lurgy. Bizarrely I have eaten and drank less over christmas than I did for the whole of the rest of December!!! Have been out walking twice too. Shock

Huffpot · 29/12/2011 18:40

Awwww poor Bee
Hang in there and make sure you know where you stand with everything!

I got weighed last night and put on a pound which was pleasantly surprising considering what i munched through! So 2 pounds in total over 2 weeks-goi
ng to try and be decent agaun now

kid · 29/12/2011 21:54

I've got the latest mag, I haven't read it yet though!
I'm working on getting a more recent directory from someone who attends a class as I don't want to go myself. Apparently there is a new one out now so I am hoping to inherit the last version Grin

Hedgepig · 29/12/2011 22:17

Hi kid I got the new directory they seem to have rounded some of the gram values to make them easier to weight and a few new healthy extras so no big change. I'm now 11 st 5 lb so a couple of lbs on but nothing too bad. I need to get back to it though and stop scoffing biscuits.

Hedgepig · 29/12/2011 22:20

Sorry Bee I forgot to say hang in there and a good plan to get things organised but hopefully you can work it out him

RiaInExcelsisDeo · 29/12/2011 22:26

like your style kid. wonder how many of my RL buddies will be joining up again in the NY. (not me, would rather spend my pennies on a dance class as soon as we can spare it)

have done my shopping list. naughty food in moderation until Wednesday for usWink and have shuffled the menus in the mag to fit in with shopping plan and life. Need to plan a couple more walks now to minimise the damage. My boys don't go back to school until 9th January so we have a week of quality family time to fill in Hmm

tonight is the first night I've still been awake/downstairs at this time since xmas eve (and even then I was sober). I had to be persuaded to have wine at xmas lunchXmas ShockXmas Shock Have a stinking cough/cold, and the coughing hurts my back. Also have a painful sore under my arm.Sad and my Mum feels it necessary to tell me all this is so because I am fat. Surely we should have a nagging amnesty at christmas?

rowingboat · 29/12/2011 23:44

Hi all,

Bee I agree with everyone about being added to the tenancy. What about the Citizen's advice, just to see where you stand? Lucky you having lovely DC! Smile

Slinky I should get weighed or something, but don't have scales and don't fancy doing it in Boots. I will buy a pair of scales in the new year. We tend to eat the same food all the time and it isn't high in fat, so I am hoping to reduce my portions and cut out the snacks, and keep going with the exercise bike.

Ria I hope you are feeling better soon. Ignore, ignore, ignore your mum and repeat my friends and family love me for who I am - even the ones who make brainless comments.

Huff well done on the weighing!

Kid we live on pasta and stir fries so not much to share in the way of recipes, sorry!

Hedge good for you on the weight. Are biscuits your weakness?

I have had quite a good day today, nothing Christmassy to eat and walked around town and home which took a couple of hours. The worst thing I had was a hot chocolate (shared with DS) from McDonalds, but it is not exactly luxurious, just needed to warm up, it was very cold and damp today.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 30/12/2011 08:49

A quick message while lurking on crap Internet connection in the Cotswolds! But couldn't read and run after seeing your post bee. Blimey, why a git leave the bastard I haven't got much advice but much sympathy. Could you try and rebuild those family bridges? Def sort out tenancy and get your own bank account. Start saving, even if it's tiny amount!

Got to go, I will be back

tinselstix · 30/12/2011 12:58

Oh Bee Xmas Sad
Another one thinking you should leave the bastard get yourself into the strongest possible position. Get your name on the tenancy and open a secret bank account for any little bits of cash you can salt away. Let any decisions you make be from a position of power.

I seem to have put on a good six pounds Xmas Blush Which added to the 1.5lbs from last week makes it all a bit of a disaster. But we are running out of junk food now and I have a big Tesco shop of healthiness arriving on Tuesday morning so I'm hoping to shift a bit of it before the next DoD. RL weigh in on Thursday - any chance of dropping 8lbs by then? Xmas Hmm

SlinkyBells · 30/12/2011 16:02

Looks like cheese and pixie have guessed the advice other MNers would give you, bee!?! Grin How are things now? Definitely time to start protecting yourself me thinks, good luck.

huffpot Well done only putting on 2lbs in two weeks, am sure you'll shift it again in no time.

rowingboat Do get some scales and join us on our weekly weigh-in every Weds, known as the Day of Doom! There's also a recipe thread if you fancied a change from pasta and stir-fries. How old is your ds?

Hope you're enjoying the Cotswolds cheese! I haven't left the house for two days, it's great.

Anyone got any suggestions as to why 11mo ds has started hating having his nappy changed?! He cries nd kicks every time you go anywhere near the changing table, and makes it as difficult as possible to do the dirty deed. Any helpful hints please? We've tried all the usual distractions and giving him his comforter, which sometimes works. He's happy in all the other ways, no bad tummy, no nappy rash. He went through this phase a few weeks ago, and we thought he'd grown out of it, but its come back with a vengeance Angry.

SlinkyBells · 30/12/2011 16:04

P.S pixie If you manage to drop 8lbs in a week, please share your secret with us! Can I recommend the colonic Lentil Pie?! Grin

tinselstix · 30/12/2011 16:51

Ohhhhh, I can't bloody stop eating! Xmas Angry Xmas Grin

Sympathy Slinky - DD went through a phase of wanting to roll over or get up every time I took her nappy off. It drove me mad. I wrestled with her for a few weeks and gave her the bepanthen or the wipes to play with and she seems to have settled down again. So no real advice to give, sorry. Hope it passes soon.

Hedgepig · 30/12/2011 21:20
