Another thread!

dig What brand of scales did you buy? Are they decent quality? The only explanation is that either these scales are wrong or the ones you used before.

My mum had some cheap scales that weighed me at 8 1/2 stone, when I was 10 stone. She wasn't too impressed when I informed her they were a teensy bit inaccurate, as you can imagine! Grin

4 mile run done.

FjorGynAndHotWater · 09/03/2012 12:22

Dig I bought some decent scales which I think my DS broke so I got some more and weighed a few lb different. You prob should take your new scales to the gym and weigh on yours and theirs to see if there is a difference!

mychild enjoy your night out! And don't worry too much about the calories - you are super-slim now and definitely have a bit of leeway! Remember that you need to scoff an extra 3500 cals to put on a pound of lard so anything over that will just be water.

Re what I used to do before, well I wasn't low carbing! I tried to be good, eat lots of fruit and veg, plenty of exercise but I was v often cheating at the weekend & Monday / Tuesday (don't work then) so trying to fit all my being good into Wednesday and Thursday was not really a recipe for success! I am now managing to be good most of the time which is definitely helping.

onanightlikethis · 09/03/2012 12:26

Weight watchers ones for 20 quid. The scales at the gym are those balance ones with weights. So maybe I read them wrong. I dont think they are very easy to get an accurate reading.
6k run done.

OctopusSting · 09/03/2012 14:54

Oh Digbert, i know what you mean Sad. I feel good but FF says i should have lost 2lb this week so 0.5 feels a bit rubbish. Onward and downward though......

MyChild - 9.2 is fab. Enjoy your night out and i am sure you won't 'overstuff' yourself as you have been so good for so long, you will 'automatically' eat less i think?

Walked about 3 miles this morning. Far less activity than my normal Friday routine, but have been very good with food again. DC's off to a party this avo and i will stay so I need to keep away from the crisp bowls

MyChildDoesntNeedSleep · 10/03/2012 11:56

Logged my calories from the night out. Yikes, this accountability thing is scary! If I ate/drank like that once a week for a year, I'd put on something like 10lb....and I'd say that's quite a normal thing to do, isn't it: go out, have a starter, main, poppadoms on the side and some wine? I didn't go too mad. Didn't have any dessert. Okay, so the wine was over the government's recommendations Blush....

Dig Did you take your measurements when you started this process? That will give you a good idea of the progress you've made.

Octo Did you manage to swerve the crisps? Don't feel down that FF says you should have lost X and you've only lost Y. FF goes off a computer algorithm....our bodies do not!

Fjorn I can't remember what you're using to log your food. Does it work out how many grams of carbs you're having in a day?

MyChildDoesntNeedSleep · 10/03/2012 12:00

Trying to decide whether to do extra exercise this weekend to counteract last night, or whether to just stick to my 10K training schedule which says rest Sat Sun. Think I might stick to the routine...I don't want to get into the mindset of punishing myself after eating something. I haven't been out in ages, and the next time I'm out will be in about a month, so it's not like it's a regular thing. But I don't know....I hate seeing red on my food diary, and it looks like a bloodbath at the moment! What do you guys think?

onanightlikethis · 10/03/2012 12:35

I'd run. :) back later just flying through.

OctopusSting · 10/03/2012 14:01

I wouldn't lol! A night out is a rare treat, not something you have to punish yourself for afterwards Smile

I had a few crisps and a couple of mini saysages but ff'd them and stayed within calories yesterday.

7.5k run, 10 mins powerplate/TRX and took girls swimming.

Off out tonight to Bil/SIL's so will probably not adhere to the government's wine guidelines either Grin. Should have enough 'free' cals to pull today in on target Smile

onanightlikethis · 10/03/2012 16:27

Good run that shark.

BenderBendingRodriguez · 10/03/2012 19:44

I agree with Octopus, a night out should be enjoyed without qualification. You may not want to take my advice though as I'm far too free with the dispensation to enjoy myself Grin

Did one hour body balance class this morning. It was great! :) Now that we know we're staying in this area instead of moving away, I feel like it's worth registering with the local leisure ctrs etc. so signed up at the start of the week and discovered that there is a cool online planner where you can log all your activity, book and pay for things online and so forth. Book and pay in advance is genius for me, it removes the necessity of having to motivate myself out the door because the thing is already in the calendar. Not sure why this works, but it does. Anyway, I really enjoyed it and will be going again. Also went for a lovely walk en famille this afternoon

onanightlikethis · 11/03/2012 19:10

Arghhh too much food and wine and not enough exercise.......
On the plus side on sat am the scales said 10.6. Who am I too argue? But negatively- dh away all weekend so no time to run or cycle.....feeling horrid . Hope you have all had better weekends. Green salad all next week.

OctopusSting · 11/03/2012 19:58

Yesterday I was doing ok until ambushed by some choco-nuts. I probably kept within burn though.

Today I have been rather delicate but have not succumbed to my desire to eat everything in sight and should be within cals . Went for a 3 mile walk too, so a small amount of exercise.

10.6 is fab Digbert - you will be scooting past me soon!

OctopusSting · 12/03/2012 07:25

+0.75. Grrrrrr

FjorGynAndHotWater · 12/03/2012 10:04

Oops I ate loads of chocolate this weekend Blush this morning was fairly horrifying on the scales but not fessing up till tomorrow. Have been a lot bunged up due to not much fibre in this low-carb business but seems like the large amount of things with chilli in that I ate over the weekend are finally working...

Had a lovely busy weekend. SAturday was in the garden, chopping and sawing again, then we went to Nostell Priory yesterday and had a lovely walk in the sunshine. WAlked to school again today but it's a bit nippier!

Yay for -2 on the new scales dig Grin

mychild sounds like you had a good time on Friday, as long as you adjust what you eat the rest of the week / do a bit of running there's no reason why you couldn't do it every week- once you are in maintenance anyway! Btw I am not officially counting my carbs, just trying to avoid them in the obvious stuff - mainly bread. Am dreaming about birthday brekker of marmalade on toast Blush

bender yay for staying and getting on with the exercise. Online thingy sounds v useful to make you go if you've already paid!

octopus +0.75? Pah! You'll have weed that out by tomorrow Grin

onanightlikethis · 12/03/2012 17:31

Grr full of a cold. Wanting to eat junk and unable to exercise...:((((

OctopusSting · 12/03/2012 18:32

Oh dear for horrifying scales Fjorn, but i am sure you are back on the wagon today and the chilli will have performed Grin

Boo to a cold Digbert. Can you go and soak in a hot bath? I always find that averts the hunger temporarily

Despite some delicious cakes tempting me at playgroup and lunch at a friends, i have just about swung in on target today. I also walked 2.5 mile round trip to school this afternoon in the sunshine which was lovely Smile

What is your timetable for the week looking like Bender?

MyChildDoesntNeedSleep · 12/03/2012 22:05

Octopus you made me LOL with the 'oh dear for horrifying scales' Grin...that is such a good description for when the scales are playing silly buggers! So motivating that you described a 3 mile walk as 'a little exercise'! I'm going to try to get into that mindset.

Fjorn one breakfast of marmalade on toast won't hurt the diet as long as you FF it! I think it's important when on a diet to have a little of what you fancy sometimes, or (for me, anyway) it's not sustainable. Though, having said that, I do avoid stuff like that as much as possible because once I have a bit I just want more! I think it's true that they're addictive. So, when's your birthday?

Oh dear, Dig Sad Don't worry about the exercise for now....you need to concentrate on recuperating.

Hi Bender, what classes have you signed up for this week? I took your advice btw and I've drawn a line under Friday night and am not going to knock myself out doing penance for it!

4.29 mile run completed tonight. Smile

OctopusSting · 13/03/2012 13:25

On a stoooooooopid plateau. Buggering bollocks.

How are the scales behaving this morning Fjorn? Perhaps they could be put on the naughty step with mine and have a think about how they are behaving? Grin

Nice running MyChild. I guess my 3 mile walked seemed like a 'little exercise' as we were going at toddler pace! 2.5 mile walk this avo and shredding if i can be arsed.

FjorGynAndHotWater · 13/03/2012 14:33

Back to within 1 of Friday Grin

Bugger re your plateau octopus but you will prob stay evensish for a couple of weeks then suddenly drop 3. It's happened before! Have you got a new goal? 9-something or even more than that???

OctopusSting · 13/03/2012 14:58

Not really fjorn, will be happy to stay between 10 and 10.5 but still have the urge to see a 9 something on the scales even if just fleetingly so!

Glad to hear you have had swift damage reversal ......

OctopusSting · 13/03/2012 18:07

Gah. My freezer has now broken, forcing consumption of some hot cross buns. So much for low carbing HmmGrin

MyChildDoesntNeedSleep · 13/03/2012 18:41

Don't eat any more hot cross buns, Octopus! Better in the bin than on your hips...unless you're within cals, in which case obviously enjoy! I know what you mean about plateaus....it's very, very frustrating Angry! You're a slinky size 10 now anyway, so what's your plan going forward?

OctopusSting · 13/03/2012 18:49

MyChild, luckily I had only eaten 250 cals up to that point, so actually was fine (and delicious - Yum). Dinner is steak and salad so i will be fine. I have even managed to squeeze a couple of glasses of Wine in too as today has been rather stressful!

I am going to carry on being as good as i can until Easter, when we are away, and then enjoy my holiday and back to maintenance once we get home. I know after losing the weight 2 years ago, that i have to be incredibly careful most of the time and i am ok with that as long as i can have 'free' weekends and holidays when i want them Smile

OctopusSting · 13/03/2012 18:52

I should clarify - the Wine has yet to be drunk. Just logged!

I rather sound like a lush otherwise Blush

MyChildDoesntNeedSleep · 13/03/2012 19:02

I'm so jealous... I never have enough calories for wine! Envy
