No-one else Dukanning any more?

Grin

Another 1.5 pounds down today. I know it's mostly water, but it's so goddamn heartening to see those scales move after months of them sticking, with me faffing around with low-carbing. Now down 8 3/4 pounds since Monday. Bonkers.

foad · 22/06/2012 13:04

I am Dukanning. Just had tandoori chicken fillets and cottage cheese for lunch Hmm. Already done 20 min fast walk.

I'm on day 3/4 (started at lunchtime Tuesday) and as of this morning had lost 3lbs. How the hell did you manage 8 3/4?! Envy. Maybe I'm doing too much 0% dairy...

Anyway, I've got 40lbs 37lbs to lose so we are on a pretty similar timescale I suspect.

ladymuckbeth · 22/06/2012 13:12

I'll tell you how I've lost so much so quickly. I had been eating like a complete piglet prior to starting. The day I started I weighed 3 pounds more than the day before (Hmm) so the fact that I lost those three pounds straight away came as no surprise - it was entirely water and I had felt really bloated.

Have you been peeing more than normal? It's been ridiculous here!

Yes, my goal weight is going to be about 11st - 11st 6. When I did Dukan before he estimated my goal weight to be 11st 6 but I got 5 pounds away from that and definitely felt as though I could have been thinner. The problem before was that I wasn't exercising - and that's what I want to do differently this time.

Congrats on your 3 pounds down, it's all good.

foad · 22/06/2012 13:35

My goal weight is 11st 2lb and yes was up at 1.30am, 5.30am and then 7.30 to pee! Am scared to go on the school run for to long in case i have to go behind a bush!!

Am doing walks with friend who is also Dukanning, she's much more into exercise than me so will push me to do more as we go on I suspect. I'm due to end the Attack phase on Sunday, but am tempted to carry it on for a bit because I've got to go to a wedding on 7th July and don't fit into the dress I want to wear! Mind you, there's always Spanx Grin.

Hi to the new people on this thread,

I had been posting here for a couple of months, but defected to the Bootcamp threads when this one got very quiet :)

So I am sort of doing bootcamp at the moment, a bit like continuous Dukan protein+veg days. If this thread is going to get busier again though I'd be tempted to come back to Dukan.

ladymuckbeth · 22/06/2012 14:59

It's interesting isn't it, it's nice to have a 'home' online when you're dieting. I tried the Bootcamp threads but was a bit all over the place. Problem with me was that for some reason I was a bit loathe to go back to Dukan, even though it worked, so I resisted. But then couldn't, just couldn't be motivated enough to low-carb effectively.

I don't know why but the restrictiveness of Dukan suits me. The rapid results are a very big part in this.... my big big big issue is going to be managing my weight loss because I'm becoming increasingly aware as I get older that losing the weight is less than half the battle - it's seeing myself as a person of that size, of staying that size, that is the problem. Somehow being the 'smaller me' never feels permanent.

foad · 22/06/2012 19:50

I agree - love the whole business of being restricted (that sounds pervy - sorry!) because it means you don't have to count calories and weigh stuff. I'm far too lazy for that.

I have been too frightened to look at Bootcamp threads - thought someone might shout OH MY GOD LOOK AT THAT HIPPO at me...

Drywhiteplease · 22/06/2012 22:10

I really like this thread and started on it in January. Reached my goal but miss the support of this thread which was such a motivator for me.
I loved the restriction of Dukan and can't quite believe that I can eat normally again (having a pp once a week) so am being v careful

ladymuckbeth · 22/06/2012 22:33

I've had a bit of a rubbish evening after 5 days of near perfect Dukanning. Had an Indian takeaway and had a mixed Tandoori grill which was ridiculously big but ate the lot along with an aubergine side dish. So - wasn't 'bad' in the sense of having rice but still feeling a bit guilty!

Also had 2 glasses of fizz Blush

Drywhite - so you reached your goal? Congratulations!! I can imagine you missing the thread; it's a shame there isn't the same level of support once you reach goal - the trials/tribulations are still there in a way, aren't they?

Gah, am annoyed the scales probably won't be as kind to me tomorrow, but hey ho.

Can anyone tell me what Dukan says about alcohol? I can't remember from when I did it before but imagine it's pretty restrictive?

foad · 23/06/2012 16:36

ladymuckbeth - the alcohol is one glass of wine a week when you reach phase 3!!

Did 3 mile walk this morning, so am counting that as my 20min fast walk. Am heartily sick of chicken - I never thought I'd be pining for lettuce!

Lost another 2lbs this morning so am now 5lb down in total Grin.

ladymuckbeth · 23/06/2012 19:17

Hey well done that's brilliant! I so need to start implementing some sort of exercise on a daily basis....

Hmm re. the one glass of wine per week in phase 3!! I'm finding cutting out booze so much more difficult since moving back to London (we were in Switzerland for past two years) and try to restrict it to social nights out now, but not sure I'm ever going to want to knock it on the head completely...

ladymuckbeth · 23/06/2012 19:18

PS: net results of my indulgence last night was a gain of 1.75lb on the blob-o-meter this morning.

foad · 24/06/2012 16:40

Up 2lbs today. I can't believe it - I didn't even indulge. It makes me want to go and eat a large chocolate cake Angry.

ladymuckbeth · 24/06/2012 16:47

Oh no! Don't!

I was up nearly 2lb and then was 2lb down again the next day. BUT - I feel your pain. Could you be retaining water due to imminent period, or too much salt?

It's my birthday today. I've already eaten some chocolate but been otherwise relatively good (considering normally I would have been indulgent just for the sake of it)

foad · 24/06/2012 17:05

Maybe salt. Against better judgement had lean ham yesterday (and today) just for a bit of variety...

I am tempted to stay on Attack for another couple of days (s'posed to finish tomorrow) what do you think?

WineFlowers Happy Birthday FlowersWine I think you can be forgiven the chocolate today!

foad · 24/06/2012 17:06

ThanksThanks that should have been Confused

ladymuckbeth · 24/06/2012 17:09

Thank you Grin

I'm sure lean ham is fine. Just keep on keeping on... see what news the scales bring tomorrow.

Drywhiteplease · 24/06/2012 21:58

ladymuckbeth giving up alcohol was huge for me! (fruit bad too). But not having a hangover on Sunday has been such a revelation that I have become v good at pacing myself since starting the diet. Wine is bad but I think if you " need" a drink ( I did a lot) g and slimline t is the least bad.

If you need a bit of chocolate Lindt 70% or higher is the least bad (is there a word for that?!) but if you love milk choc it doesn't really do the job.

Drywhiteplease · 24/06/2012 21:59

And happy birthday lady

foad · 25/06/2012 08:21

Can't bloody believe it. I'm up another 1lb Shock. MFP says I'm down on calories. What the hell is going on? Another protein day me then.

ladymuckbeth · 25/06/2012 09:19

Sorry to hear that foad; must have been a disheartening start to the day. The only response is the one you've given though, isn't it - just onwards onwards onwards... well done for not letting it get to you - the scales WILL start to play ball.

Any advice for a pathetic hungover person who actually just feels like eating giant bowls of pasta and ice cream all day? Confused I can't bring myself to weigh as no doubt I'd be stupidly UP if I did. I too have to just get back on the wagon but not sure my constitution can take nothing but meat all day!

ladymuckbeth · 25/06/2012 09:19

Thanks Drywhite too - you're so right about alcohol, life is sweeter without it and I need to manoeuvre my head into that position.

foad · 25/06/2012 12:30

Thanks lady. Have been for a cup of tea with a friend and she suggested I separate my dairy and protein (like food combining) because the dairy has sugar and the protein has fat. TBH I do feel slightly slimmer...

Breakfast was roast beef slices (bizarre) because I bought greek 0% yoghurt and have found that I don't like it - too rich.

Hope you've kept off the ice cream and pasta lady! In your position I'd have coffee (with loads of sweeteners) and go for a bracing walk in the fresh air! And loads of water. You might still feel crap, but at least you'd be away from the fridge!

Ah well onwards (and upwards in my case Confused). Have a Dukan day Grin

Drywhiteplease · 25/06/2012 20:50

lady diet coke and sugar free jelly, lots of paracetamol!!!

foad · 25/06/2012 21:20

Oooh Drywhite sugarfree jelly - my mouth is watering. What a fab idea Grin
