I'm having a glass of wine...

drywhiteplease · 28/02/2012 21:15

So glad you new ladies have joined.was feeling bit lonely.have been doing Dukan since Jan 8 and this thread kept me going....bit like a WW meeting.i got loads of advice which I am happy to pass on.i have about 4 lb to get to my target weight .
I think wine contains sugar which is the big Dukan enemy.

SheKnittedHimAJumper · 28/02/2012 21:27

Im drinking a pint of Robinsons sugar free. Stupid question but, how many pints in 1.5 litres?

I think a small gin/vodka just passes as been ok. I guess it could slow the process down.

I have tinned sardines for lunch tomorrow!! Smile

foreverondiet · 28/02/2012 21:37

I haven't discovered any flavoured yoghurts that have no added sugar, (he only allows ones without any sugar) and anyway I don't want to eat aspartame so I stick to natural yoghurt which I now really enjoy and can taste the milk sugars.

I did dukan last year (although PV, only 1 PP day a week), and managed only to gain 3 pounds - doing a 2 week blast to get the 3 pounds off - protein thursday (started last week) and PV all week. Hate PP days and refuse to do more that one a week.

pluckingupcourage · 29/02/2012 01:14

my first day went OK, though I also can't find non-sweetened flavoured yogurts (I looked at the Muller lights but they seem to be quite added-sugar heavy, though why they add sugar to sweeteners, grrrr?!) so I am having 0 per cent greek yogurt with some splenda sprinkled on top.

I find breakfast and lunch easy but find dinner really really hard. Tonight I had tuna on a bed of shredded spring greens. Desperately craving pasta or rice now!

SheKnittedHimAJumper glad to hear that it improved your fibroid situation, I am hoping that the dukan diet will have positive effects for me!

I am aiming to lose a stone. I need to lose more, but this would be a great start and don't want to put myself off with over ambitious goals.

I've made the Dukan pancake, it's OK but has a slightly funny taste to me. I hope I get used to it.

Isaidhangonamin · 29/02/2012 14:23

Hey there! I started Dukan on 13th Feb and have lost half a stone in just over 2 weeks so I'm very happy. I started with the e-book which I've loaded on my phone, pc and Kindle so it goes everywhere with me! Didn't know the website course thingy existed until I was a few days in and as I'd done fine without them I didn't join. I would probably get grouchy with someone telling me off for lapsing anyway Blush

I have had cast iron will-power (not something I'm usually blessed with but desperate to lose weight) and have not eaten DS or DstepS or DH's birthday cakes which have all taken place since I started!

I can't seem to do PP days since the attack phase so I am on PV every day but heavily biased towards protein.

So far today:-
Ham & eggs for breakfast
Diet fizz for snack mid morning
Chicken Salad for lunch (balsamic vinegar as dressing) + Mint/choc Muller yog

For dinner I think I'll wrap some chicken in proscuitto (its been in the fridge for ages and can't think what else to with it Hmm and dry pan 'fry' with low fat cheese for dipping + more salad

I make a sort of porridge with skimmed milk, oat bran and Splenda during the afternoon if/when I get the fidgets for something to eat. I hate porridge but this is nice!

Giving up vino has been hard and did lapse at the weekend when we went away for DH's birthday but stuck with the food. Thank heavens for ready-cooked chicken off the supermarket shelf!

Be strong fellow Dukan-ers!! You are not alone xx

cornishclottedcream · 29/02/2012 19:52

Evening everyone :) well I jumped on the scales this morning, thinking that my halo would be shining and the scales didn't move from yesterdays 3.3 pounds, sooo disappointed :( but I just had today to go until I can PV and when I told my husband tonight what I had lost, he said don't be silly that is an awesome amount so now I feel :o again.
Not missing wine but I can feel chocolate haunting me ! Keep repeating to myself and yourself 'Be Strong'

drywhiteplease · 29/02/2012 20:26

cornish be strong!!!!!!! I found scales got stuck from time to time,v frustrating, but eventually they work again!

winkle2 · 29/02/2012 21:22

I went to GBK and had grilled chicken salad while my mate had a burger!! Go me!!

PP tomorrow!!

IWantToGoToThere · 29/02/2012 22:34

Hi everyone, sorry I've been so slack in posting but really have nothing to say! Haven't weighed in lately as I had a run of 'cheat days' in the last few weeks due to various social and work events I had on, and didn't want to depress myself and risk not going back on the diet at all! So I'm not sure how much I've lost but I can certainly feel it in my clothes and my tummy is much less bloated, so it's working for me.

Welcome to the new recruits, hope it's all going well with you.

Re fruit flavoured yoghurts, I think wentworth who started this thread used to recommend the Weightwatchers citrus flavoured yoghurts which most of the big supermarkets stock. I haven't had them on this diet as I like the 0% yoghurt and thanks to my Starbucks skinny latte habit, I have to minimise my dairy intake to just one yoghurt a day.

Re alcohol not being allowed, it's because most alcohol contains carbs in the form of sugar, so it will slow down your weight loss if you over-indulge. I think Atkins allows gin and slimline tonic at a certain phase in the diet, but then Atkins doesn't allow dairy so I guess we can't have it all (wow, who would have guessed when it comes to dieting?!) Again, I find that total abstinence is easier than restricting myself to one or two every couple of days as that's when I start obsessing about it and making 'deals' with myself which only end up in total abandonment of the diet.

drywhite, you are going great guns, you must be so pleased with yourself. I'm on the straight and narrow now until a family weekend in 2 weeks time which will involve a restaurant meal out one night, and a brunch the following day to celebrate birthdays and Mother's Day. I will be on damage control as far as possible, but there will be slippage. After that, I have nothing social coming up to derail me until my holiday in May so I'm looking forward to really going for it in that period.

BrightnessFalls · 29/02/2012 22:54

Today we had a delivery of a tray of Krispy Kremes. I drank black coffee whilst everyone tucked in and, felt very pleased with myself.

Im day three of the attack tomorrow and my cupboards are literally bare, appart from Greek yoghurt and a tin of mackerel. Tomorrow, will be interesting....

cornishclottedcream · 01/03/2012 08:43

Morning Everyone :) late start today so able to post this morning's results- 4 pounds in 5 days of attack so I am feeling chuffed with myself and re-motivated.
Really looking forward to my salad lunch as it is the first green thing i've eaten and I'm going to have a steak and some yummy veg for tea.

Brightness that was a huge test of will power and Winkle that was too. Well done fellow Dukaners :)

winkle2 · 01/03/2012 13:17

10st 6.5 today! The lightest I've been this year :)

drywhiteplease · 01/03/2012 16:06

I'm on a pv day and had;

B. Total mixed with oat bran and sweetener and cinnamon.
L. Salad with chicken breast and prawns with yogurt and lemon juice dressing
Just now for a snack some total with marmite (I know...I'm disgusting!)
Dinner will be roasted veg with chicken and no more yogurt but maybe some jelly.....woo woo !

Have you got weight bot on your I phones ? I love mine .quite satisfying to see it all plotted out.

Isaidhangonamin · 01/03/2012 17:56

Well done Cornish & Winkle!!

Just had to have a peep at weightbot app Drywhite. I had been squirrelling notes of weight loss onto my phone notes pg but was terrified DH would see just how tubby I really had got! I'll lock this app!!

I'm still stuck on 11st 3 - shouldn't moan it's only been 2.5 weeks.... And half a stone is half a stone!! Grin

So glad I know you're all out there xx

drywhiteplease · 01/03/2012 20:23

I've been here since 8jan ....saddo!

olijackmum · 02/03/2012 10:44

Hi I am considering doing the dukan diet but looking for ideas for food as i dont really have time to cook anything for breakfast so that concerns me what i could have .
I dont eat fish either but I really want to do it

BrightnessFalls · 02/03/2012 11:41

Eggs or yoghurt for breaksfast in the beginning. It gets boring after awhile though.

Im terrified as I am going out tonight and Im on the third day of attatck? Any advice? I would normally drink cider or lager and lime --or cocktails-

Also, the pub food situation. Should I eat before I go out? whats the best thing to line my stomach? I do find on this low carb diets that the drink goes straight to my head.

olijackmum · 02/03/2012 12:00

When ur in the attack period what things do you take to work for lunch

winkle2 · 02/03/2012 14:47

olijackmum I eat cooked chicken from the packet mostly for lunch.

miso soup is allowed.

roast beef slices from M&S.

winkle2 · 02/03/2012 14:47

yoghurt with a spoon of oat bran

drywhiteplease · 02/03/2012 15:27

brightness going out to pub/restaurant not too bad as you can control what you eat.i would order a steak or roast chicken with salad. Say you don't want chips because if they are in front of me I can't resist!if you are being v strict about attack then leave the salad but my view is a slice of tomato and some lettuce is not going to harm you.

Drink diet drinks or sparkling water....boring but worth it.

olijackmum make some galettes and leave in fridge piled up for breakfast. Also I cook job lots of chicken breasts and take one sliced and a pack of prawn sticks and a yogurt for lunch. Or do a roast beef and take some slices.

BrightnessFalls · 02/03/2012 16:03

Its a hen night and Ive had a hard week. I have to drink.

olijackmum · 02/03/2012 17:19

Brill thanks for the ideas,
I am going to give it a try . My only concern is missing my fruit as I snack on that .

drywhiteplease · 02/03/2012 17:50

If its a hen night....forget Dukan until tomorrow! Good luck (hope it's better than the one in the hotel I was at last week where they all fell out,hen fell over, and went to bed at 11 in strops!)
