Brazilian, sounds interesting and a great deal better than Chinese for someone who is following the plan. Let us know what it is like!

drywhiteplease · 17/02/2012 17:02

Wow Brailian was Dukan heaven!!!rather over did it! Sadly not a chain but for anyone near Leeds it's called Fazendas at Granary Wharf.fab salad bar...loads Dukan friendly stuff. On your table you have a card that is red one side, green the other to tell waiters (gouchos no less!!) you need more meat !they come round with gammon (no)spicy sausages (no no sadly) Parmesan pork(no) but chicken, the most tender garlic rump steak, salted sirloin......and as much as you want.in the eve they have salmon and more too.
Fab!

IWantToGoToThere · 17/02/2012 20:10

Wow drywhite that sounds amazing.

I am having a carb-y dinner tonight and toast for breakfast tomorrow as I'm at an all day wine tasting tomorrow and I fear for the consequences if I don't have any sort of lining to my stomach to soak up the alcohol! I'm looking forward to it but I know the carby food is going to make me feel ill so my enjoyment is tempered. Oh how things have changed!

I had the most delicious sashimi from Itsu today. It was so so so good but so freaking expensive! Back to packaged deli meat next week.

On that topic, has anyone found a good low fat ham which is salt free? I usually shop at Sainsburys but I can't find anything salt-free there and it tastes too salty for my liking.

Oh and has anyone noticed that there is now a Dukan online shop selling muesli-bar type things, food flavourings etc? I'm tempted to try out the oat bars but they apparently count as 'tolerated' foods and to maximise weightloss I'm trying to stick to the plan as closely as possible and I worry that introducing 'tolerated' foods will slow me down even more...

drywhiteplease · 17/02/2012 20:36

Ooooh iwantto I forgot about your wine tasting! I am also having cheat tomorrow.....invited round for take away, difficult!

Sorry....love salt and I know Dukan says no but he's taken all other treats away he's bloody not having my SALT!!!

Haven't tried bars.still on jelly!

ToysRLuv · 17/02/2012 23:02

Hi everyone! I' m back here to moan Grin

But seriously, in the last week NADA. No weightloss at all. And I've been pretty good. I've even watched the dairy. Although I have been having a handful of Brazil nuts every day (slightly naughty I know, but thought it'd be ok.. kind of restricted on PP days otherwise, with being a veggie and all), large splash of soy sauce (to make tofu and prawns edible) and a tablespoon of goji berries a day (as tolerated by Dukan). Crap. Could it be those things? Or do I have to start cutting down on aspartame, diet coke, etc. as well? Really did not expect this to happen. :(

Not hungry most of the time, but also bloody sick of eggs, prawns and tofu. I've been having 4 eggs a day and wondering whether that's too many.. Just don't really have much choice! Just discovered soy protein shake powder in Holland and Barrett. It's v. low in fat and carbs, so have been having a shake for breakfast instead of the damn eggs.

I'm wondering whether this is just getting too complicated, and maybe I should just go back to WW, if I have to do counting/restriction anyway Confused
Anyway, bought a new iPod Nano, so can start running again. Maybe that'll get things going, since the daily walks with DS don't seem to be enough.

Sorry for moaning, but it's just a bit unfair.. At least on WW I could have beer! Wink

drywhiteplease · 18/02/2012 09:04

toys the running will help.i think 2 eggs a day is the limit.
Maybe you don't want to hear this but.....we all choose diets that suit us, whether it's because it's one that fits in with our lifestyle, doesnt make us starving, let's us eat food we like etc.
Perhaps Dukan just isn't the one for you and there are plenty of sensible diets out there.just do another diet......you do have the discipline to stick to it because you've done this one and you will loose weight.
Good luck Smile

ToysRLuv · 18/02/2012 23:02

Drywhite: Yes, you're right. I thought I might do well on this diet, but the lack of success is probably just down to lack of exercise (Dukan's half an hour walk does nothing for me). Will have to start running. I think my body's just very resistant to diets in general. Wants to stay at this weight.. :(

MerlinFromCamelot · 20/02/2012 08:58

Toys,

Maybe you have just hit a plateau. I started the diet about 2 weeks ago and have done ok so far but I have lost nothing over the last 3 days, despite sticking to the rules. To make matters worse tonight is Chinese takeaway night because this is what DD wants for her birthday. I think the difficulty is to keep going when the weight doesn't seem to want to shift. I really believe that it will go if you stick with it and keep going.

Agree on the 1/2 hour walking though, doesn't seem a lot. However, if you power walk for 1/2 hour on top of running around after the kids and/or hubby all day, perhaps it is not too bad. I guess it depends on overall activity level.

ToysRLuv · 20/02/2012 13:35

Merlin: I think it's a definite issue with exercise. I will try to increase it, although have always hated any sports (apart from horse riding and drunkenly dancing in clubs - have been known to do 24h non-stop dancing during raves Grin ). Heading to soft play today, and as DS (2) always wants to go on the big over 4 year old bit I have to go with him, and THAT is like an army obstacle course. Smile

Feeling a bit more positive now, although noticing that the amounts I'm eating are going down, since I'd rather not eat than eat an egg or tofu (restricting dairy to my morning shake and a bit of yoghurt late at night). I wait until I'm practically famished. However, I've made a gallette to take to soft play together with some emergency nuts and sugar free sweets.

I really like Dukan, because I'm hardly ever hungry and it's so strict and regimented that I like sticking to it, although I do miss beer (found WW a bit too vague and easy to cheat on - also the new pro points are a pain to count, as they do not correspond to calories - I just don't have the level of time and organization that goes with doing WW properly), so I really want it to work for me.

I'll try to stick with it and moan a bit less.. I just thought you could not reach a plateau quite so soon (this is my 4th week).. Confused

drywhiteplease · 20/02/2012 15:34

toys look back and see all my moaning!i plateaued a lot but it really does eventually fall off!

drywhiteplease · 20/02/2012 15:34

Sorry that was for merlin too !

MadameBoolala · 21/02/2012 09:23

Hello Dukan thread. I've been lurking. I've just ordered the book. Please to answer my question? I've been doing weight watchers but I have slacked off and don't seem to care any more. Is there any way that I can combine the two, or is it a case of Dukan only until the end?

MerlinFromCamelot · 21/02/2012 09:56

I'm getting back on the wagon today. Chinese last night was very very nice but also very very naughty. See how we go over the next few weeks. I'm considering taking out a 3 month membership next month see if I can speed things up and do something about the bat wings. Very motivated to lose as much as I can before summer.

I don't think there is a problem with following the Dukan rules, whilst staying within your points limit. I can not see how low fat protein would not be allowed on WW. The only thing is that you may struggle to eat your daily points allowance. I found that after a few days on the diet I started to eat less. Interesting to hearing how you get on.

MadameBoolala · 21/02/2012 18:20

Groovy, well I'll give it a go then Merlin. Just waiting for the book to come from Amazon.

IWantToGoToThere · 21/02/2012 20:46

Hi all. Am still hanging in there, it's just life is so boring so I don't have much to say. I have to go away for work tomorrow and will be staying over night and the other office have organised cocktails after work. Excellent.

MadamBoo I subconsciously think about pointing my food as I've lost weight successfully a few times using the old points programme (note, the weight did not STAY off. Dammit.) I find that the most I seem to hit is about 14 old style points a day so I figure I can't possibly NOT lose weight on this diet. It's kind of reassuring.

Haven't weighed myself for a while as I keep having cheat days so I know the bloating will add pounds to the scale. I actually wore the next size down trousers today and they were wearable bit a tad thrush inducing tight. Pleased to hit that target but at the same time slightly horrified that I am now down to a size which would was my 'scary size' before I had a child.

Prawn salad for dinner tonight. Meh.

MerlinFromCamelot · 22/02/2012 09:56

I love prawn salad...

I only get on the scales every 2 weeks. I find the feeling of trousers getting looser more rewarding than the scales...

Summer is coming!!!

IWantToGoToThere · 23/02/2012 20:48

Well, I've been off the wagon for a few days and I feel absolutely vile so looking forward to getting back on the wagon tomorrow. I've been away for work and having to do a lot of socialising which has meant Dukaning has been awkward but I'm doing this diet knowing that every now and then it's going to have to take a back seat to other things and I'm not going to miss out on things which I don't get to do often, just for the sake of the diet. So it's been nice to have a break but I am going to go hard for the next month when I have a dinner out planned.

How is everyone doing?

ToysRLuv · 23/02/2012 20:57

Still having problems losing any weight, I'm afraid. Now had 3 pp days and haven't really lost anything. Went out to get sports bras and plan to start jogging half an hour when DS is napping (DH works at home, so DS is not home alone). Started counting calories as well, as I'm not convinced that the "eat as you much as you like" works for me Confused . Trying to stick to 1400. So not strictly Dukan now, I guess..

MerlinFromCamelot · 23/02/2012 21:50

My calorie intake has gone down a lot. I try not to eat in between meals and when I start eating I quickly get bored with my food and stop eating when I'm not hungry anymore, especially when on PP days. Normally I would have finished all the food on my plate.

IWantToGoToThere · 24/02/2012 09:11

I actually found stopping snacking easy on Dukan as I really don't feel like snacking on meat! What I like about Dukan is that it is so restrictive and the meals get so repetitive that I actually stop thinking about food. When I've done WW in the past, whilst it did work, I was ALWAYS thinking about food. How many points have I got left, should I have 2 portions of X or 1 portion and a glass of wine, etc etc. I find this much easier as I'm not obsessing about it. Well, apart from the scales but I'm staying away from them for a while I think.

Just had my 0% yoghurt and skinny latte for breakfast, have salmon sashimi for lunch and chicken for dinner. I'm really looking forward to eating simply again after having a few days off.

MerlinFromCamelot · 24/02/2012 10:00

Agree with what you are saying, also when I was on WW I kept craving sweet. On Dukan I don't crave anything at all.

Me too, I like the Greek 0% fat yogurt for breakfast.

ToysRLuv · 24/02/2012 12:47

I totally agree with you all about WW. That's why trying to stay at least partially Dukan. But, v. disheartened about lack of weight loss. So that's why have resorted to calorie counting, as well.. Have noticed a rising obsession with food & snacking again, but apart from starting some horrid exercise regime, I don't know what else to do. Also, I think my situation is a bit different from the rest of you because of the vegetarian thing. So sick to my back teeth of tofu, eggs and yoghurt (genuinely repulsed). At least meat eaters can have a bit more variety.. Confused I know I used to love mince, ham and chicken..

drywhiteplease · 24/02/2012 17:20

Ok Dukan ladies.i wanted to loose 18lb overall(4 lb to go) and a stone by this weekend when I go for annual trip to health(!!) farm with group of girlfriends.have fake tanned and bought a lovely lbd which is the closest fitting thing I've worn in years.7 wks of no carbs and v little booze has definitely paid off.feel bloody brilliant.
This thread ,a bit like ww meetings, has kept me so motivated,so thank you.
Will let you know how I get on....ironically I will prob eat and drink more at a health farm than I have over the last few weeks!

cornishclottedcream · 26/02/2012 20:47

Hello Ladies, just trying to get going on the Dukan diet after getting nowhere with SW. I have done 2 days of attack and I'm still motivated although not much seems to be happening :-( I'm actually looking forward to Monday morning so that I can weigh myself :-) You all seem to have done so well. I have a holiday in 6 weeks time and it was the thought of stripping off on the beach that made me get my act together. I would really like to lose a stone before we go, although I need to actually lose about 2. Anway I just wanted to stop lurking and just say hello :-)

drywhiteplease · 27/02/2012 16:50

Go for it cornish you will loose a stone easily if you stick religiously to it.
