Hi All,

Hope you don't mind me joining in here.

I'm currently on day 3 of the attack phase. My diet is rather restricted as I don't know much about the plan.. All I know is what I have found on the web. my book is still in the post.

I try not to weigh myself until next week and hopefully will get a nice surprise. In terms of the attack phase of what I have seen on the web this would be between 1 and 10 days. I would like to loose about 30 pounds which is an awful lot of weight. How long should I stick to phase one? I'm not finding it easy as I normally do not eat meat, only fish.

I'm really exited about this plan, my trousers are getting more comfy already and perhaps I'm lucky but the only side effect I seem to have is a very bad taste in my mouth which doesn't go away whatever I try. No headaches, no lack of energy etc.

My breakfast was a boiled egg and some fat free Greek yogurt.
Lunch is a tin of Marcel in brine, another egg and more fat free yogurt.
Dinner: no idea at the moment.

I wish mister postman would hurry up with my book. I'm running out of tinned Marcel.

Hello merlin and pluck great to have new posters it had all gone a bit quiet.

toys I think you have a bug....you can't get better if you don't eat properly...I would concentrate on recovering...I know you don't eat meat but chicken broth has miracle properties I believe.

Ok merlin and pluck . This is what you want to hear.
I started the diet on jan 8 ( ingrained in memory because had my last carb ....not a big deal....and last DRINK ...look at my name !!! Then) I wanted to loose 17lb ( needed really to loose only 11 but got greedy). I did 6 days attack and am now doing alternate pp/ pv days will start the next phase when I get to target (and when Ive read chapter!)
So far (5 wks) I have lost 13 lb and am at my lightest since I got married 15yrs(!!)ago.will try on wedding dress soon lol!

For me it has been a great diet because it's easy ( no counting) and its effective (fast initial weight loss which I found encouraging) and I don't have a sweet tooth and love meat.its not a diet for everyone though.

Look back through thread for recipes.there is a fantastic salmon fish cake one.
I have mastered the galette which I pretend Is toast ( so I have poached egg on toast, cottage cheese, smoked salmon 'pâté' ,sliced chicken with minty yog dressing etc for lunch or breakfast)
I make casseroles, curries, meatballs and have eaten quite well overall.

I miss cheese.and wine.

It has been easy over jan because we have had a quiet social life after Christmas.that is changing tonight with my first big night out and half term with kids will be hard.

Bit of a ramble .....to say though that I think for me this is a brilliant diet and has worked exactly as Dukan says .

Good luck....keep going

Hi - I am just checking in. I started the thread way back in November. I am 28 lb lighter than I was on nov 1st. Reason for post is that I am keeping the weight off. I basically do PV days all week and eat as I like over weekend. Also power walk about 4 hours a week.
I still weigh every other day and will do attack if weight creeps up!
Last night I made a chicken korma with patax paste and 0% Greek yog. Ditched the rice and had wine instead, no pud. Hope this encourages!
Started at 12 stones 6 lb, now 10lb 5 today . Am 5 ft 8 and this weight suits me!

wentworth good to hear you! Glad you checked in because I was wondering about maintaining the weight loss....I suppose it is a permanent eating plan isnt it?

ToysRLuv · 12/02/2012 00:43

I'm back. Had a PP day yesterday, but had a PV day today. I don't think I could do two PP days one after the other. I think the PP days are really making me feel quite ill (it wasn't a bug), so I'm thinking of ways how to, maybe, slightly modify the plan. Maybe have v. small amounts of carbs to avoid feeling sick, but try to eat loads of protein.. hmm..

Did some cheating today, because was feeling miserable and tired. Handful of nuts. some tomato dip (which I noticed contained a bit of sugar), and tbsp of cocoa powder (for a drink with water, milk and sweetener) also had a packet of sugar free Werther's originals, which contain butter. Oh well. I think I've done ok. Seem to have lost some weight no, which is good. Nowehere as good as what some people have achieved. I think it's purely down to meat eating, as I think Dukan is more tolerable if you can get energy from red meat..

drywhiteplease · 12/02/2012 14:47

Cheat last night....out to restaurant......was good with food...but MY GOD the dry white was soooooooooo good ! Back to it today.

catrin · 12/02/2012 16:28

Well, after lurking for ages, gathering courage to start Dukaning, started last Sunday. Start weight, 11 stone 3, today... 10 stone 8!! So 9lb in a week. Hoped it would be good, but am gobsmacked.
Have to say all the advice posted from others was invaluable, as in addition to following the book, I also did everything everyone suggested. So thank you for all the tips!

drywhiteplease · 12/02/2012 17:37

Well done! It's amazing isn't it ?i am thrilled !

catrin · 12/02/2012 17:45

I'm not surprised - you've done so well! It's the keeping it off that's always my problem. I know how to do it, but my will power always wavers. Hopefully, if I am as good as you lot with sticking to it, it may be the first time I don't do the yo-yoing that is so demoralising.

ToysRLuv · 12/02/2012 19:27

Having another PV day.. maybe going to do PP tomorrow (but dreading it :( ) My total weight loss in two weeks 4.4 lb. So Envy of that 9 lb! I guess it's all the dairy I'm eating. Anyone else had a crappy start, or is it just me? First week of WW had me losing 3.5 lb a year ago, so I'm not that impressed with Dukan, especially since PP days make me feel soo sick. However, haven't really been hungry or bingey, so that's great. Maybe I'm just going to do this really slowly and lose the 1.5 stones in time for summer rather than in two months..

treetroppo · 12/02/2012 20:58

Hello. A question for all you expert dukaners..

My mid cycle water retention is so unbelievably bad ( for about 10 days) that there has to be a way of getting rid of it. I just want to stop feeling so so bloated through days 14-20 of my cycle. Been checked out by doctor and it is just a PMS symptom, there isn't anything wrong with me. Would eating only protein work ? I do eat too many carbs anyway, which can't be good for me. Any thoughts?

drywhiteplease · 13/02/2012 09:59

Ooooh am about to divulge gruesome personal details!
I have suffered from bloating for years, worse during cycle, but embarrassingly frequent at other times.also terrible heart burn and (wait for it ) gas embarrassed.i always put it down to excessive fibre but now I am wondering whether it is the carbs because since doing this diet I have had none of those embarrassing symptoms .
Worth a try treetroppo

drywhiteplease · 13/02/2012 09:59

[embarrassed]

drywhiteplease · 13/02/2012 10:00

I WILL GET THAT SMILEYON!
Blush

MerlinFromCamelot · 13/02/2012 10:12

Hi All,

Just done my first 5 protein days... it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I will be sticking to P only for 2 more days, and have my first PV day on Wednesday (all going well). I have not weighted myself but my clothes are feeling very loose, while I week ago I was struggling doing up buttons. Side effects have not been to bad either, apart from the metal taste in my mouth which doesn't seem to want to disappear. What a difference a week makes.

IWantToGoToThere · 13/02/2012 20:57

Hi to everyone, and a special hi to all the newbies. I had a planned cheat day yesterday (yes, another one!!) as had my husband's parents, brother and his girlfriend over for lunch and they're a super picky bunch food-wise, so just decided to make something I knew they'd all eat rather than something I could try and modify and then face all the questions.

So had a lovely lunch (I won't flout the food porn on here as we're all dieting, but it also involved a few glasses of wine) but by 8pm I was absolutely shattered and felt really sick. So I ended up going to bed at 8.30pm and felt much better this morning. It's making me wonder if carbs have a lot to answer for in terms of my general energy levels.

In terms of slow results on the scales, a quick look back at my previous posts will show that I'm not an obvious Dukan success story (and a bit of a whinger!). But, I've stuck at it for 4 weeks and have lost a whisker short of 5kg (10.8lb) so I can't really complain. But I should add that I started at just over 13 stone and at 5'2, it should really be flying off me. I'm definitely noticing a difference in my clothes but haven't gone down a clothes size yet. My stomach is about as flat as I can ever remember it though, so that's been a real bonus. I do tend to retain water and going carb-free has really helped.

I'm going to do PP all week this week to make up for yesterday, and also to bank some good-will as I have yet ANOTHER cheat weekend this weekend - last one for a while though. My husband is in the wine trade and we've been invited to a professional tasting on Saturday and I'm going, dammit! It means leaving my 2 year old with my mother in law during the day and we'll end up staying over at hers to avoid having to drive home, so we'll also have dinner out. And I'll probably need more than a chicken breast to soak up all the booze. Am regretting the hangover already

ToysRLuv · 13/02/2012 21:24

PP day today and feeling ok. Lost a tiny bit more weight, so overall weight loss something like 5 pounds now. Hmm. I'm 5' 7 and weigh a bit over 13 stones, so not absolutely massive, but not tiny either, so I guess it's not going to be melting away at a crazy speed (especially as I've yoyo dieted up and down quite a bit in the past and I tend to eat quite healthily anyway).

IWTGTT: Glad to hear I'm not alone! :) Did you eat the Atkin's bar you mentioned earlier in the thread? They'd be so good as snacks (I'm not worried about healthy either, as only drink diet cola and consume quite a lot of other stuff with sweeteners)!

drywhiteplease · 14/02/2012 08:04

Iwanttogothere proffessional wine tasting.........how exciting!!!!!!tonight, being valentines, dh and I have decided to avoid rip off restaurant prices and get a seafood platter from an amazinng fishmonger in our town ,and have a decent bottle of bubbly.cant wait.

In the gym last week the ladies were commenting on my weight loss and I said "my dh is away tonigh so I've just been to (said) fishmonger and got myself a crab for a treat"!!!!!!you should have seen their faces!!! 'Treat' takes on a new meaning on this diet .......but I do actually love crab LOL !!!Grin

MerlinFromCamelot · 14/02/2012 09:31

Drywhite, where do you get the energy for the gym from? I noticed this morning that I'm starting to struggle a bit with the stairs at work, only 4 floors!! I think that whatever carbs reserve was floating around in my body has now all gone.

Still have a strong metal taste though.

drywhiteplease · 14/02/2012 11:21

merlin don't know really.but I think in book it says you might feel tired in first week but "by the third day, your tiredness will disappear, and is usually replaced by a sense of euphoria and dynamic energy"!!!!!i only felt euphoric when I got on scales.....that spurred me on to do the gym stuff which is a complete pain but Zumba classes make me laugh! Lol!Grin

IWantToGoToThere · 14/02/2012 19:43

Nope, the atkins bar is still in my drawer at work. Upon closer inspection, the bar was crazy high in FAT so clearly un-Dukan.

I should be doing the Shred right now. I am on the sofa with a rug on my knees, a glass of diet lemonade and American sitcoms on the box. I won't be able to do it tomorrow night either as have a work event. So will have to have to HAVE to do it both Thursday and Friday. God I hate exercise

MerlinFromCamelot · 15/02/2012 10:54

First PV day today. Can not decide if I should do 5 pv days and 5 pp days or alternate them. Any advice is very much appreciated. Also would be interested to hear if in your experiences the addition of veg has an effect on weight loss. I would assume this would slow down after the first week or so anyway, as it does with most diets?

Anyway, hopefully the addition of veg will help with to get rid of the metal taste.

drywhiteplease · 15/02/2012 16:46

I do alternate and pv sat and sun.seems to work

MerlinFromCamelot · 16/02/2012 09:08

I have decided to alternate, see how it goes.

On monday my daughter has decided she wants a Chinese take away to celebrate her birthday. Not sure what to go for. I may just eat normal but try to stay as close to the diet as I can and have 2 PP days to compensate.

At the moment I find the diet easier to stick to then I thought it would be, not craving anything at the moment.

drywhiteplease · 16/02/2012 16:08

Just do 2pp days like you said.
Half term has been hard to alternate.....have only managed to do 2 pp days but suppose if I do pv on other days it will be ok.Smile
Am going to a Brazilian restaurant tomorrow where they serve unlimited steak/chicken and salads .......sound like the perfect Dukan eaterie ...will feedback ( not for veggies though)
