I had never been into jelly at all (my poor neglected hard done by kids!) until dastardly mentioned them.
I am addicted to orang....lime and lemon tasted like medicine!
I just get Hartleys sf in supermarket and like it mixed with nat yogurt.think you can have it any day and prob any quantity ,although watch the dairy (someone said you have 1ltr a day max).
I made fish cakes with cod using wait rose frozen Thai herds. Looked like an omelette but tasted great.

foreverondiet · 05/02/2012 11:36

Toysrluv - be careful with lots of dairy and remember not all dairy is equal:

Milk (skimmed) is 3.5% protein and 4.8% carbs (milk sugars) (milk has high% of water). Fat free yoghurt is 5.4% protein and 8.2% carbs (of which 7.9% sugars).

Greek yoghurt and best of all fat free cottage cheese much better choice as higher in protein and lower in milk sugars.

Monitor how much you eat, I started with pulses when I realised that within moderation they didn't affect weight as much as diary.

Mollyfloss · 05/02/2012 19:24

Hi there! I meant to come back on last wk but had a hectic wk. Did pv until Friday and stayed the same weight and then went off the rails at the weekend as usual. Am going on my little trip on Friday so am just going to try this for the next 4 days for a change: www.liveandfeel.com/diets/how_to_lose_5_kilos.html

So am officially not a Dukaner anymore. Well doe to everyone on great weight loses!

ToysRLuv · 05/02/2012 19:40

Ah, yes, I do watch my dairy intake do it does not got go over the 1 kg/1 l rule, but it does come close on most days, since I do not have many other "instant" options and it tastes good. I tend to have ff fromage frais, quark or yoghurt (should make a mental note of getting the Greek stuff since I'm half Greek anyway Grin ), with sweetener and cinnamon or vanilla essence, and cottage cheese. I don't drink milk (if a drop in tea max once a day doesn't count).

Okay, forever, how much/many pulses can I eat? I read somewhere that it's 2 tablespoons, so though I couldn't be bothered for that amount..

Suddenly felt very unwell in the car today going to a country park with DS, so had to stop at a McDonald's to get a double cheeseburger and left the bun (the cheese had melted onto the burgers so "had" to eat that as well). So bad. I really hate eating meat, but the thought of eating the two boiled eggs in my bag made me literally want to vomit. I know that that kind of meat is too fatty for Dukan, but I suppose it's better than, say, a breaded fishburger.. Felt a lot better in a while. I have to be a lot more organised or this is going to happen again. Maybe make gallettes to have read in the fridge (mine always end up looking crappy and breaking, though).

I haven't got a good idea about how much I have lost or if I've lost any since it's my time of the month.. I hope I don't have to scale down the dairy :(

ToysRLuv · 05/02/2012 19:42

Duh, what happened to the first line of my post?! Confused Well, I suppose you lot will know what I meant..

drywhiteplease · 05/02/2012 19:58

Ooh cinnamon in yogurt! Yummy! Will try tomorrow.

drywhiteplease · 05/02/2012 21:35

forever when you say fat free yog does that include nat yog too ?am now wondering whether I am having too much dairy.
On average day I would have 2 activia vanilla fat free,1 nat yogurt low fat and a large dollop of cottage cheese plus enough skimmed milk for maybe 8 teas (I know I know!) what do you think?could have more sf jelly instead of a yogurt.

iwanttogothere how was Sunday lunch cheat?mine was not too bad......almost cracked at cheese board ESP when the oat cakes came out....boy that tiny slice of Stilton was amazing!
Pp for me, maybe for 2 days.

foreverondiet · 05/02/2012 22:48

drywhiteplease Natural fat free yoghurt. Its allowed but the diet isn't "magic" and yoghurt does contain quite a lot of milk sugar. Cottage cheese is much better as it contains a lot less milk sugar and more protein. Greek yoghurt (total) better than normal yoghurt as again less sugar. Trial and error.... different things work for different people.

re: jelly, I guess although I still stick to dukan principles I'm much more into healthy eating these days, wouldn't touch the jelly due to chemicals!

In the end I ended up eating veggies every day as my carb intake was lower than when doing PP due to dairy. Plus I was constipated which IMO was my body's way of telling me protein only not healthy!

toysrluv - everyone is different, I limit myself to 300g of dairy a day, even in consolidation, occasionally 500g - but I do eat meat. Eating more dairy than that slowed down (stopped) weight loss. Dukan says on his website 1kg ok but if your weight loss slows down restrict to 500g.

re: pulses, just buy tin of ready cooked and add a little each day. Def easiest and tesco value kidney beans are v cheap!

And yes have to take food with. In that sort of emergency I'd always go for nuts, small portion has a lot of calories (so wouldn't need much) and low carb.

I used to make dukan tuna / cottage cheese muffins for days out, you could do with those green soya beans instead of the tuna.

Basically tin tuna (so use 130g beans?), tun cottage cheese, oatbran, couple of eggs and cook in silicone muffin cases. Great for picnics / days out.

drywhiteplease · 05/02/2012 23:02

forever that's v interesting.i eat meat .i have lost 11lb so far in 4 weeks doing what I'm doing but the weight loss is slowing down to 1/2 lb a week now.if you were me would you change anything or just keep going as I am steadily?only want to loose 7 lb more.
I love the galettes and not fussy eater at all.could eat meat/ fish all day if i have to.
know what you mean about jelly....before this diet I never made jelly because nutritionally rubbish but find it fills me up and is refreshing/ juicy a bit like fruit which I really miss.
Would welcome your advice.
P.s will try muffin recipe but exactly how much oat bran and cottage cheese ?

IWantToGoToThere · 06/02/2012 13:31

Hi drywhite. My lunch wasn't too bad either - it was roast beef so picked the leanest looking slices on the plate, had carrots, brocolli and peas (I know peas aren't allowed), one small yorkshire pud (OMG , yum!) and 2 small roast potatoes (OMG, double yum!) Had half a glass of champagne and a small glass of red. Pudding was chocolate mousse. I ate enought to keep me satisfied and it really felt like a treat, and refused seconds. I am happy with it - I could potentially have avoided all the carbs, but I had decided in advance this was to be a cheat day and just embraced it.

Re dairy, I have always found that I don't lose weight very well if I have too much dairy. I tend to just have a greek 0% yoghurt for breakfast, and a grande skinny latte from starbucks and that's pretty much all my dairy for the day. I'm not hungry at all so I don't tend to or need to snack on yoghurt.

I think when the body gets used to eating the same things every day, it naturally stops making changes (ie, losing weight) so maybe if you're plateauing, try cutting your dairy down to half for a while and see if that jolts your body in to change. Or try and aim to have one 'new' meal a day that you haven't tried before, rather than sticking to the same menu.

I'm going to try and make a dukan friendly moussaka this week (lean beef, aubergine, tomato puree/tinned tomatoes and cottage cheese) and will let you know how it turns out.

A PP day for me to make up for yesterday and Shred tonight.

drywhiteplease · 06/02/2012 17:25

Does anyone know if we are allowed pesto on Dukan?

foreverondiet · 06/02/2012 19:47

drywhite - I have got inspiration from other diet books too! I love "lean and clean" good for low carb high protein AND healthy eating. Never bought any of his supplements though!

www.amazon.co.uk/Clean-Lean-Diet-Best-ever-Macpherson/dp/1856269329/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1328557433&sr=8-1

1/2 pound weight loss quite low - do you have much to lose? I wouldn't tolerate that level of loss until down to last few pounds.

Also like Tom Venuto's book.... he also recommends high protein, lowish carb healthy eating. I am trying hard to avoid processed foods including aspartame, for me now about being healthy as well as slim as now its for life not just for a diet!

drywhiteplease · 06/02/2012 20:07

forever I would like to loose another half stone but am at my lightest for 15 yrs right now a look ok.just being greedy !
Will look at those books though....dh and I have discovered that low carb eating is the way forward when you hit 40( eek!)
Please please please can I have exact quantities for muffins.have all ingredients and iliac one muffin case ready.....But how much oat bran and c cheese exactly?

foreverondiet · 06/02/2012 20:09

Haven't made the muffins for a while so am going to be guessing!

It was something like 1 tin tuna (130g), 1 tub cottage cheese (300g), 2 eggs, and 1/4 cup oatbran.

Could do add some green veg, eg well drained defrosted frozen spinach?

IWantToGoToThere · 06/02/2012 20:32

Oooh, the muffins sound tasty. Not sure I'm ready to use my oatbran allowance in anything but my yoghurt though. Or meatballs.

As for pesto, I'm going to guess no, it's not allowed. It contains a LOT of oil and pine nuts so obviously high in fat. If you're losing slowly at the moment, I'd avoid it. But maybe a really thin layer on some baked salmon for a special treat might be allowed!

Just did my 4th session of Shred. I found it much harder than normal and think it might be because I had some wine yesterday and was possibly a bit dehydrated as was working out of the office today so not chugging back the water as usual. Must do better tomorrow!

foreverondiet · 06/02/2012 21:34

Try making without oatbran? Or just use less? Gets bound by the egg.

drywhiteplease · 08/02/2012 19:30

Anyone got any news or are we just plodding?
Am definitely noticing clothes are getting looser and am hoping might be in a different stonage this week....it's looking promising.
Found some leftover turkey from Christmas in my freezer!!!!!! Perfect Dukan food....had an amazing turkey and veg curry last night.

IWantToGoToThere · 08/02/2012 21:03

Oooh yum drywhite, how did you prepare the curry

I've just done had a full day at work, come home, bathed 2 year old and put iim to bed, sorted a load of washing and put it on, done the Shred video, prepared and put some meatballs in the oven, folded 2 loads of dry laundry and hung out the wet laundry and now I'm KNACKERED. How many calories do you reckon that lot burnt?!

A PP day for me so it's beef meatballs for dinner (in front of One Born Every Minute so hope it's not too graphic tonight!) and then a sugar free jelly.

drywhiteplease · 08/02/2012 22:09

Blimey iwanttogothere you're unbelievable!that is one heck of a work out ! One born is too graphic for me (have 2 dc.....but how?!) and I cry too much!

The curry,I am afraid, was a bit of a "bung it in" job:

I fried a chopped onion in a teeny weeny bit of veg oil then added a good tbspn med curry powder and extra cumin (I like strong flavours.......would normally use curry paster but was not sure about Dukan - ness of that)

Then I threw in a big chopped carrot,A big chopped courgette and a chopped red pepper.

Added a tin chopped toms and chicken stock(about 1/2 pt )and about 400g cooked, dried out, concrete turkey ( lovely!)

Let it simmer until veg tender and I added chilli flakes to taste then thickened sauce with corn flour (allowed on dukan i think.needed salt ( I know I know !)

My discovery is sauce......I make loads (casseroles too) which fill you up.....so my curry was very saucy ( ooooh er ..........god give me a carb quick!)

I have done this with beef and chicken too.love curries.

drywhiteplease · 08/02/2012 22:11

Btw this was loads for three of us....not just me!!

ToysRLuv · 09/02/2012 23:08

On day 4 of cruise and feeling very sick. Yesterday was PV and I felt so awful, I had to vomit before bed, afterwards was dying for something salty and starchy to make me feel better, but resisted. Woke up this morning with the mother of all headaches. Really could not stand the thought of eating protein only today so decided to have another PV day, and to compensate with two PP days later. However, have felt sick again, and just emptied my stomach down the loo. I would tolerate it a bit better, had I lost any weight, but I haven't. Maybe a pound or 2. That is really crap. Seriously doubting whether this diet is for me after all. Anyone else had a similar experience and pulled through? The thought of another egg in any form or yoghurt makes heave.. :(

pluckingupcourage · 09/02/2012 23:10

I am just beginning the dukan (wave). I've got PCOS and need to avoid carbs I think (though stupidly years ago I lost loads of weight on a high carb low fat diet, which undoubtedly messed up my hormones more, drat). I had kept a lid on things until the last few weeks when I've been caring for a chickenpox ridden household and just eating whatever I could to comfort me (drat!). So I've piled the weight on. Anyway I don't fancy the fattiness of atkins so am going to have a go at dukan. I think I've just done a dukan-friendly shop (low fat greek yogurt, lots of chicken and fish, herbs, spices, eggs, low carb veg and oatbran in the main). What are you favourite recipes/websites?
I am thinking of having two boiled eggs for breakfast, tuna with lettuce for lunch, snack of low fat greek yogurt with a tblsp of oat bran mixed in, dinner of stir fry made with no oil (and dukan-friendly veg) and lean grilled chicken. Perhaps a sugar free jelly for dessert.

pluckingupcourage · 09/02/2012 23:11

ToysRLuv do you think you have a bug? Sounds as if you need to pamper yourself a little bit. Slightly concerned about how I am going to get on with the diet now ...

ToysRLuv · 09/02/2012 23:33

pluckingupcourage: I'm a pescaterian (who doesn't particularly like fish either), so am on quite a restricted regime.. I think I would feel better if I ate meat too, so I don't think you'll necessarily find dukaning hard. I love the simplicity of the diet and not having to count calories or points (WW etc.) or carbs (Atkins). I think it's a case of trying it out for yourself and seeing.

I think I will maybe give it another week, but if I'm still unwell (and not losing enough weight), I have to reconsider.. Confused This morning chose to give breakfast a miss rather than eat the dreaded eggs. In the end I picked on DS's ham pieces (terrible), because the thought of anything else was horrifying. I dream of porridge :(

pluckingupcourage · 10/02/2012 00:52

You poor thing ToysRLuv, I hope you feel better soon. I don't really eat much meat (my shopping tonight for me was mainly cod, salmon etc with one portion of chicken for the week) so I think we'll be folowing a similar plan.

I wonder if the bran upset your stomach? Perhaps you could do just a day of plain basmati rice to see if that improves things. Sorry, I'll stop mothering you now!
