Thought I'd come back and post here.....

Did dukan last year and following my own version of consolidation since then.

Still don't eat grains or bread, maybe occasionally at weekend. I do eat pulses though.
Eat fruit and veg every day, no protein only day (as it constipates me).
Eat proper protein (ie eggs, meat, fish, quorn) at each meal.
Have oatbran in my yoghurt each morning.
Eat 1 or 2 squares of 85% choc each day (but don't eat other choc).

Weight is staying off!

cutteduppear · 31/01/2012 08:44

Sorry to sound stupid, but do oats count as a grain? I guess they do Blush. So no granola for breakfast then?
Having difficulty finding enough veggie answers on here.

drywhiteplease · 31/01/2012 13:19

cutter upper I think forever meant the oat bran you are allowed on Dukan (2tbsp a day on cruise).there are. Loads of non meat proteins you can have on Dukan. I would not rule it out.it is a fantastic diet.
foreverondietthanks for your encouraging post and really well done.i was hoping to hear from someone who was maintaining their loss.

cutteduppear · 31/01/2012 14:20

Hi, I am eating oat bran galettes with smoked salmon (yum but can't afford every day).
I bought crab sticks today but reading the ingredients they contain potato starch! Surely this isn't allowed?

I did a 'version' (mine had fruit in it) of Dukan last spring/summer and lost a stone over two months.

Now I'm trying lose a few pounds before important engagement next week...what are the loads of non meat proteins that I can eat drywhiteplease?

drywhiteplease · 31/01/2012 14:28

Didn't you see my list for you on Sunday ?

drywhiteplease · 31/01/2012 14:31

Add omelettes to that

Mollyfloss · 31/01/2012 22:16

drywhite: you're right and I have no plans to do this diet on my holidays regardless of whether I lose the last 4lbs or not. It's no big deal if I don't. I realise I'm being a perfectionist trying to lose those last 4. I fit in all my clothes now, am a comfortable size 8 (normal for me, small frame) So I'm doing pv as best as I can until Friday and then I am going to aim to consolidate as best as I can for a week and then enjoy my holiday. I guess I'm not really a Dukaner anymore though

minceorotherwise · 01/02/2012 11:42

Hello all. Wow Molly, what I would give to be a size 8, can't see that ever happening even if I Dukan for the rest of my life...!!! Have been a bit bad this week, on and off but have been to the gym loads, so not too bad. Back on the wagon...

drywhiteplease · 01/02/2012 13:52

Chicken for lunch.......JUST bloody chicken!!!!pp for me hurray!

Even though you have done it,keep in touch molly

IWantToGoToThere · 01/02/2012 19:53

Sashimi for lunch for me today. Was really nice but an eye watering £7.95 for 4 slivers of salmon and 2 of tuna. Needed another one after that but couldn't afford it. Looking forward to my turkey meatballs tonight though annoyingly I forgot the cottage cheese so will have to substitute yoghurt. Hope it still works.

Congratulations on achieving a size 8 Molly, that's great. What did you start at and how long did it take?

I did Shred the other night and my muscles are still sore so had last night and tonight off but will do it again tomorrow night. I find if I exercise on sore muscles I end up in a lot of pain and it takes ages to be able to move nomally again, and then I give up. So I'm easing myself in gently!

Weight-wise, I nearly hit the 3kg off mark yesterday (100g off) but ended up weighing in at 200g heavier this morning. So I'm hanging in there and hoping for a loss tomorrow and a 'whoosh' when I go to put my jeans on this weekend (secretly hoping they won't fit at all, but will settle for delightfully baggy)

drywhiteplease · 02/02/2012 09:02

Pv today.week 4. Can't believe it! Diet becomes a habit after a while doesn't it ?
Hope to drop 2lb this week then I would reach a benchmark.
How is everyone doing ?

IWantToGoToThere · 02/02/2012 20:28

I had a 'whoosh' on the scales this morning and dropped down 600g so nearly 1kg down since Monday! I'd like to think it was all fat, but sadly I suspect it was because I didn't have my usual 2 litres of water yesterday (though I did have a lot of other liquid). I was also busy at work so didn't eat much and as I was not working in the office, I didn't have my usual breakfast on hand. Tried to find a low fat yoghurt in a shop near where I was but couldn't find anything so only had a starbucks skinny latte (naturally I was working out of the same place today and upon walking back from a 10 minute walk to get something reasonable for lunch, I saw a fricking tescos RIGHT NEXT DOOR to the building. Idiot. Still, at least I got a walk in)

I have a planned 'cheat' meal coming up on Sunday. We're going to a friend's house for Sunday lunch and rather than stress about what I can and can't eat (and look awkward), I'm just going to eat what she is serving and enjoy it. I will drive so at least that means that I can't drink. However, a tiny voice inside my head is trying to convince the rest of me that maybe, just maybe, I could also have a glass of wine or two in the evening once we're home. I miss wine so much and my reasoning is 'in for a penny' etc and if I'm already going to be off plan anyway...

I don't know. I don't think one meal or one day is going to be enough to knock me off course as I truly am committed to doing this, but I need to make this diet work for me and my lifestyle because if I'm too strict with myself I will just get fed up of the whole thing and probably binge my way back up to my starting weight.

Any thoughts on my dilemma?

WentworthMillerMad · 02/02/2012 21:15

Hi I wanttogothere

Have finished my Dukan journey (see start of thread) and am 2 stones lighter.
I am a big fan of planned cheats - whatever your preference is BUT you have to get back on the wagon the very next day and be ultra strict. Chuck in an extra walk / gym session and an extra protein day.
It's making it work for you and if you in it for the long haul then you may need the odd treat!
Am still sticking to Dukan by and large - still have my yogs for brekkie, had a beef stir fry for lunch without the rice, chicken casseroled with garlic, tomatoes, paprika and carrots for tea - no spuds! Still read from time to time to get fresh ideas - keep going. It's a lovely thread!

IWantToGoToThere · 02/02/2012 22:26

Thanks Wentworth and congratulations again on your achievement. I was planning on having a PP day on the Saturday (should be a PV day) and again on the Monday instead of PV. I'll also make sure I do the Shred DVD twice over the next 3 days.

I have a couple of other planned cheats coming up to, so I guess I just need to make sure I am 100% on plan when I can be.

Is everyone else factoring in cheat days, or are you sticking to the diet 100% regardless of whether it's convenient or not?

foreverondiet · 02/02/2012 23:50

Yes, I meant the oatbran you are allowed, I still have most days although sometimes have ground omega seed mix in yoghurt instead.

re: vegetarian if no fish or meat - I think you need to eat pulses every day. Also tofu, quorn, dairy, eggs. Also I don't think the protein only days every 2nd dayare going to work, so if I was veggie and wanted to do dukan I'd adapt cruise it as follows:

  • every 2nd day protein, pulses and green veggies (ie those low in carbs).
  • every 2nd day protein, pulses and all veggies
  • one day a week protein only

Veggie meals:
Protein and veg day
Breakfast - omelette, yoghurt and oatbran
Lunch - cottage cheese salad with some pulses - sprouted pulses would be great
Dinner - quorn bolognaise poured over cauliflower

Protein and green veg day
Breakfast as above
Lunch Tofu and pak choy stir fry or lentil and green veg soup or cottage cheese and leaves
Dinner Quorn fillet and broccoli
Snacks - greek yoghurt

Protein only day (once a week only)
Breakfast as above
Lunch - Pulses and fat free fromage frais
Dinner - tofu, quorn, edamene beans

drywhiteplease · 03/02/2012 15:10

iwanttogothere I am having exactly the same dilemma as you!we are also going to friends for Sunday lunch.so far sticking to the diet has been easy because we have had v quiet post Christmas social life so I have not been in a position to be tempted. A month in and events are coming up.going to someone's house I think is more difficult because you have no control over the menu ( unlike in a restaurant) and you don't want to appear rude when someone has gone to the effort of cooking you something.
My plan is to enjoy it, not drink because I have to drive (drinking has always been a night time activity for me) and have a little pud then go back to pp as usual on Monday.
I Think about it this way; it's taken me a month to loose 10lb it will surely take more than one meal to undo all my hard work.
Let's enjoy our Sunday roasts and be really good mon...........

Btw my saddlebags are almost gone! Incredible!!

IWantToGoToThere · 03/02/2012 20:18

Fantastic drywhite. I'm finding I'm losing weight most noticeably around my thighs and butt too - my trousers are definitely feeling looser. Mind you, I'm a classic pear shape (mmmm, pears....) so that's where I carry the most weight anyway.

I had talked myself out of doing the Shred video tonight (had a shocking night with my 2 year old last night - wanted to go downstairs and watch the Wiggles and have a muesli bar at 2.30am and the tantrumming went on for hours when I wouldn't let him) but then I just thought, no, I'll do it. And I'm really glad I did. Am knackered now and will feel it tomorrow as I did it last night too so my muscles are doubly sore. But YAY, I did it!

Beef steak and eggs for dinner tonight. Looking forward to a sugar free jelly for dessert too. Friday nights are so rock and roll for me these days

drywhiteplease · 03/02/2012 20:37

iwanttogothere lol.......agree about fri nights.pp for me today.cray fish tails in yogurt lime and ginger sauce.actually now know that I don't like cray fish! And going to treat myself to a sf orange jelly too in a min.

I might go mad next week and buy myself a whole crab which I adore!

Not only are we sharing Sunday roast dilemma but I am also a pear...little top and waist but a booty and thighs that I almost always hide with a longish top.Makes buying straight shift dresses impossible.

Poor you....tantruming child at 2 am......I don't know how you functioned today, let alone do a shred DVD.

drywhiteplease · 03/02/2012 20:38

Weigh in day tomorrow....eek

drywhiteplease · 04/02/2012 09:27

Have only lost 1lb last week.bit disappointed.
The problem with this diet (and there is only one because for me it is fantastic) is that you loose lots of weight (water) in the first week which raises your expectations for the following weeks. I know Dukan says not fixate about scales and that I have lost 10 lb so far and must continue with a steady weight loss because I am sticking to the diet as well as Seeing visible results. Still it's disappointing when you loose only 1 or 2 lb in a week.

ToysRLuv · 04/02/2012 21:26

I wonder whether I can join? I'm on my 4th day of attack. I'm a pescaterian (eat fish), so not doing the pulses, but probably eating more dairy than the average "ducanian". Need to lose around 1.5 stone and so far seem to have lost a few pounds (in water, I know :)). Need to move onto cruise phase on Mon, so need to think about PP PV rhythm. What is everyone doing? Alternate days or 5/5? I'd like to do alternate days, but apparently this might not be as effective?

drywhiteplease · 04/02/2012 21:47

I am doing alternate days and am hoping to loose 17lb......10lb in 4 weeks ....so seems to be working. I fact I do pv on sat and sun so I can kind of join normal meals.good luck.this thread is great and has kept me going.
Check back for the amazing salmon fish cake recipe.

IWantToGoToThere · 04/02/2012 21:59

drywhite I'm having the opposite problem to you! I started off losing very slowly (not sure how given the amount I need to lose and the massive change to my diet) but now I'm losing quite quickly - this week 1.5kg so far. I think different times of the month will influence what we lose and we will go through good phases and bad phases. We know the diet definitely works, and it's just a matter of sticking to it. Also, if you are only weighing once a week, you might be a victim of normal daily fluctuations, and had you weighed yesterday, you may have actually lost more. But, for all this, I know exactly how disappointing it is when the scales don't reflect a good loss! Here, have a Wine - that is sugar free strawberry jelly in a wine glass!

Welcome Toys. I'm doing alternate days but tomorrow I'm having a cheat meal as we're out at friends' for lunch, so instead of having a PV day today, I'm doing PP and will do PP again on Monday to mitigate any damage. I hadn't realised that 5 on 5 off was supposed to make you lose weight more quickly. I might keep that in mind if I need a quick win!

drywhiteplease · 04/02/2012 22:33

Thanks iwantto and a cheers Wine to you too.....and here's to our Sunday lunch cheats.lets compare notes on the menus tomorrow!!!

had my sf jelly tonight...almost as addictive as crab sticks.

and time of the month definitely effected my weight loss.

ToysRLuv · 04/02/2012 22:39

Thanks DWT and IWTGTT!

Will try alternate days first as I think 5/5 would be a bit of a killer when you don't eat meat. I hardly eat any fish either, now that I think about it, just white fish (cod, haddock, plaice) and prawns (unfortunately hate salmon, so fishcakes not an option for me, but thanks for the tip! I wonder whether they could be made out of cod.. ? :) ) I think 5/5 is said to be more effective (at least short term) because it gives PP more of a chance to "work".

So, this sugar free jelly. Is it "normal" i.e. Hartley's type supermarket stuff? And can you eat it both on PP and PV days or just PV? And can you eat lost of it or just a bit? Love, love, love jelly, so quite excited about this.. Grin
