Starting a low carb diet - anyone interested in going for it with me?!

I did this very successfully indeed for about 6 weeks in the run up to the summer break. I have been trying to lose weight for a while and was doing OK but then reached a plateau which was when I decided to try something new. And I easily lost a stone doing this.

It was hard in the beginning, for about the first week, then I sort of settled in to it and it just became how it was. And I like the rules of it, because you just can't cheat on it. But it was sometimes hard juggling what the family were going to eat.

I have been cutting down since Tuesday, but will be going for it completely on Monday 5th. I want to lose a stone. Is anyone interested??!!!

Oh dear. I am drinking wine. This wasn't in the plan! (Although I'm enjoying it).

Will weigh tomorrow and see what damage it has done.

Gincognito · 15/09/2011 23:42

I had lots of bread

Lots :(

goldenbaby · 16/09/2011 06:52

Good morning all. Okay. I have gained 6lb from all the crap I have been eating these past few weeks. I'm a not surprised - I thought it would be about that much.

I'm going to get on and sort it out though.

So far this morning I've had water, nice ham, an egg and a bit of natural greek yoghurt with psyllium husk stirred in.

BecauseImWorthIt · 16/09/2011 08:41

Phew. The wine didn't stop things too much!

I'm 4lbs down now since Monday, which I'm really pleased about. Is today our official weigh-in?

Snapespeare · 16/09/2011 08:43

supplements ( lots! too tedious to list...) decaff, then off to work - bacon and eggs and decaff with double cream. last night had smashing chilli chicken stir-fry with lots of broccoli... there may have been a couple of large jack danielses... with evil diet coke. :( still a new days dawns and all that!

yoga yesterday and gym today for cardio.

Gincognito · 16/09/2011 09:38

Woohoo, down 2lbs despite my loaf moment! For the first time in about two years the scales begin with a 10.

Have had scrambled eggs (3 whole eggs plus an extra yolk) and crispy bacon so far, plus a coffee with cream. I've decided that giving up caffeine AND refined sugar all in one go is too much for me.

Gincognito · 16/09/2011 09:40

Yes BIWI I think it is.

Gincognito -2lbs

Spamspamspam · 16/09/2011 09:51

OMG, OMG I can't believe the scales, they can't be right....they can't be....

71.8 - think that equates to 11.4 and 3/4 I haven't seen that for 8 years Grin Grin

I was 11.10 two weeks ago...

Dancing round the house like a bloody loon here!!! It must be water surely, I can't possibly have lost 5 and 1/4 lb in 2 weeks......

FreeButtonBee · 16/09/2011 09:58

Well done everybody! What a good week we are having.

I am 10st 5.25lb this morning - delighted with that, 2lbs down since last week. The aim is to stay under 10 6 for the next week. I am off on holiday next saturday to the USA which is unlikely to do my diet much good but no reason to blow out before then.

Went to pilates last night - man, he is EVIL but I did get a freebie mini massage at the end for 5 mins as I tweaked my back last week in the class and he was personally affronted that he had injured me so was making up for it. It was amazing; I nearly cried from relief afterwards and had to stop myself from begging him to keep going.

Although someone has brought in a MASSIVE white chocolate toblerone. I didn't think I like toblerone but the white one is LUSH. Just had one block and will resist further temptation as much as I can.

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 16/09/2011 15:07

I just screwed up. marshmallows, I curse you.

alison222 · 16/09/2011 17:52

Just updated mine now.
I'm pleased that despite the pizza on Tuesday and the Cassoulet last night I have managed to loose another 2lb this week.

Never mind, Rather. Tomorrow is another day.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 16/09/2011 20:35

Aw thanks BIWI - find it hard doing stuff for everyone else. And to compound it my DD rows and has to eat loads of carbs! But tomorrow is another day. You are right!

Hi ladies, may I join you? Hi Custy Grin how are you?.

Am trying to lose the last of the baby weight after having dc3 15 months ago. Have about 10lbs to go. Have been working out (a lot!) but my weight loss has stalled so my trainer suggested going low carb.

Love this thread!

I started on Wednesday, will weigh myself next Wednesday. Am really missing wine and chocolate :(

bigkidsdidit · 17/09/2011 10:15

Right, was delayed by Life for a few days but just weighed in. I'm in official Fatty Bum Bum territory :( so am full of motivation! Had good breakfast and have tuna salad and hard boiled egg for lunch, sausages and green veg for tea. Wearing tight trousers which is motivating me!

Gincognito · 17/09/2011 11:29

Hi all, I've started a thread in site stuff asking for a dedicated recipe section/shortcut to try and collect all these fab recipes. Please add your support!

Please nobody tell me we already have one... Blush

RatherBeOnThePiste · 17/09/2011 11:42

Have added my paw print Gin - it would be really helpful, I think at the mo, I'm getting through this, but it would be more positive to actually make proper, albeit low carb meals.

So I also hope there isn't one lurking

Me, too.

I am pigging out today, toast, marshmallows and pitta bread. have made copious amounts of green bean and chicken soup to start low carbing again tomorrow.
