Oops we're full up again! Hope it's OK to start a new thread. Come on Jillian devotees, let's keep up the good work and the great results!

My DH is a Jillian fan too! He shreds regularly and does 6W6P and NMTZ too.

knottyhair · 24/09/2011 14:13

Threesteps, hope you have a good weekend with your dad. Did L2 6W6P with 3kg this morning - let's just say I was certainly "marinating in what I had just done" by the time I'd finished Grin.

notyummy · 25/09/2011 19:01

That L2 6W6P kills me everytime!

Managed a 5 mile run Friday, then a LOT of sparkling wine on Friday night meant that Saturday I was only up for a 3.5 mile run and some gymball exercises I had found in Zest magazine and wanted to try. One of the core ones was a KILLER and my mid section was sore this morning. Which was bad timing as I had agreed to do a double shred with DH. Levels 2 and 3 with a mixture of 3kg and 5kg. Hard.

My plan is short run tomorrow, nothing on Tuesday and then NMTZ on Wednesday.

Hope you all managed something this weekend!

febes · 26/09/2011 06:24

Sounds great notyummy!!
I did my 20min run on friday night (run 3 week 5 c25k) then a 10k bike followed by a 15min run on sat morning. Sunday I did a 10 min fast swim while DD was having her lesson and then run 1 week 6 later on. Tonight I think I'll do L26w6p as DH is going out to watch the formula 1 at my folks place so I can't leave the DCs.

knottyhair · 26/09/2011 08:09

Wow, notyummy and febes, you're "aspirational" Wink. Seriously, I feel quite exhausted just reading what you've both been doing. Did 4 circuits of NMTZ with 3 cardio circuits inbetween yesterday, used mostly 3kg but some 2s (tricep circuit). Going to do a L2 Shred this morning, and having a rest day tomorrow as I'm meeting a friend straight from the school run in the morning. Hope everyone has a good day.

notyummy · 26/09/2011 09:37

Ladies, if you are looking to be seriously 'challenged' in your core using an exercise that you can do whilst watching TV, I recommend the gymball/swissball stuff I was doing on Saturday. As I say, I saw it in Zest magazine and just wanted to give it a try.....and my core is aching. It must be effective Wink.

Go into a plank on your elbows on a gymball. Then push your elbows forward slowly as far as you can and then pull them back into a plank position. Do 3 sets of 10. I do a lot of core work and thought I was pretty strong, but this is HARD.

Jacksterbear · 26/09/2011 09:42

Thanks for the tip notyummy might give it a try later!

L3 shred yesterday, hoping to be able to fit in a NMTZ later today (Monday = wfh day!).

Always amazed at people's running abilities... am relatively fit but running/jogging kills me... I can just about do the 1 mile jog from the station to work and that's it.

Jacksterbear · 26/09/2011 14:40

NMTZ done. Smile

notyummy · 26/09/2011 14:44

Well done!

practicallyimperfect · 26/09/2011 18:39

Hello! I have started 30day shred, am on day 2. I love the fact it is short and intense- means I have no excuse. I find the cardio ok, but the arm weight stuff is killing me! My biceps hurt so much! I am only using 1kg weights- pathetic!

It will get easier right?

knottyhair · 26/09/2011 19:06

Hi practically! Well done on starting the Shred - if you stick with it, you won't regret it! It does get easier honestly - I started in January with 1.5kg and now do a mix of 2kg and 3kg but some people use heavier weights (yes, you, notyummy!), so we're all improving. Personally, I found the move up to Level 2 from Level 1 much harder than going from Level 2 to Level 3. Good luck!

OP posts:
Jacksterbear · 26/09/2011 20:14

practically, day 2 was the low point for me when I first started - gets easier from day 3 on!

threestepsforward · 26/09/2011 21:19

Evening all and welcome practically Smile

Well done on getting day 2 out the way...you'll be amazed how soon you'll be seeing / feeling the results...

Am reading through and trying to catch some motivational vibes from all of you. Just haven't been in the "Jillian zone" this last week or so. Nothing at all today as I just couldn't be bothered! Have promised I will get back onto it tomorrow...

DP on the other hand is Shredding every other day Smile. Am so chuffed he's getting into it as I know how much better it's made me feel, and know it will do the same for him...Go DP!!! (notyummy I mentioned other MNers' DPs were Jillianing, but didn't mention the use of 5kg weights at this point Grin)

Hope everyone's having a good evening
Threesteps

notyummy · 27/09/2011 18:41

Hi practically! Yes, it does get easier and then you can start upping the weights etc. At the moment just concentrate on getting through it - and I agree that the step from L1 to 2 is worse than 2 to 3. If you perservere then it will make a difference to your body shape and tone - it has for me anyway. I would also recommend trying some of her other stuff after a while to stave off boredom and keep challenging your body.

practicallyimperfect · 27/09/2011 21:03

Thanks. I think it is quite addictive! So felt a bit better today, the bicep curls were ok, but the squatt presses kill me. My arms shook so much I dropped the weight!

knottyhair · 28/09/2011 13:38

Threesteps, will you manage to fit in anything today? And well done to your DP! And practically, I've managed to donk myself with my weight several times.
Did 4 circuits of BFBM this morning before it got too hot (love the "this is not your mother's workout" Grin). Planning on a L3 Shred tomorrow, and maybe 4 circuits of NMTZ on Friday. Hope everyone's having a good day!

OP posts:
threestepsforward · 28/09/2011 17:05

Afternoon everyone Smile

Hey Knotty, I just did NMTZ all the way through (no cardio), boy it was hard. I was using 2.5 kg weights but had to drop down for some of the triceps stuff, and the press outs in circuit 1, which I bizarrely find really hard - they look like they should be easy!

Well done on BFBM. I haven't ventured near that since going off the boil for a while, perhaps because I can remember just what a sweaty mess I ended up! Might try a few circuits tomorrow if I'm brave enough.

Yay practically at getting addicted Grin It draws you in and before you know it you're hooked!

Off topic I know (sorry Blush) - but I accidentally killed one of our two goldfish today Sad Sad We have a click in and press down filter which I changed and he was under it. When I found him eventually his innards were outside and he was still alive Sad. Put him in a tub of water and put him in the freezer, which I've heard is a good way for them to go. We've had him 5 years so I was really upset, especially as he didn't just die, as they do, I did it. Threesteps the fish killer Sad

Jacksterbear · 28/09/2011 19:33

Oh no 3steps what a horrible thing to happen. Sad

threestepsforward · 28/09/2011 19:57

I know Jackster. I was undone about it. I know people might say he was only a goldfish, but he was such a dude :(

Anyway, big apologies for derailing the thread, just couldn't get it out my mind. How are you doing? Are you keeping on with the Jillian madness? Did I remember right you had a bit more time at home at the mo? Is that helping to fit Shred etc. in?

I shall check back in tomorrow with tales of Shredding or BFBM and no further tales of goldfish woe!

Hope everyone has a great evening...

practicallyimperfect · 28/09/2011 20:23

Oh no, that must have been awful :(

I came home today in between school (I'm a teacher) and parents evening to fit it in! I al finding some things easier, but the push ups and squat thrusts really hard.

notyummy · 28/09/2011 22:40

Sorry to hear about the goldfish incident. I had 2 that I kept for years as a child and I was gutted as a teenager when they finally died.

Did NMTZ today and it was hard although I think getting very slightly easier so perhaps my body is finally adapting to this weight combination. I find the plank bit in circuit 4 (or is it 5?) really hard, and in circuit 2 I use 5kg weights to by the time I get to the full press ups at the end of the circuit my shoulders and arms are screaming and it is sheer bloody mindedness that stops me dropping to my knees. I think I could probably step up on some if the exercises from 3 kg (not surrenders though!) My next weights up are 5kg though and 3 to 5 seems a big jump. May buy some 4kg.

notyummy · 29/09/2011 07:52

I am not aching much at all today, so I think my assessment of my body adapting must be right (the first couple of time I did NMTZ using 5kg and 3kg I was mincing around afterwards for days!!) Perhaps it is time for some 4kgs. We also have 7.5kgs that I use for the squat and clean thing in L3 shred, but they are a bit scary to contemplate using for NMTZ. Perhaps I need 4kg and 6kg? Hmm......

knottyhair · 29/09/2011 14:27

Threesteps, sorry about your goldfish, not surprised you were upset. Hope you're feeling better today. And I totally agree about the press-outs, I find them a struggle with 2kg. Notyummy, bow down to you using 7.5kg for anything! I did a L3 Shred this morning and managed 3kg for all the strength apart from the dumb bell cleans - I tried 4kg (held my 3s and 1s together) and they do still feel quite easy. Can't bring myself to order any heavier weights yet though, it's only the odd thing and I struggle to use 3kg for some stuff still. Practically, have you managed anything today? Good on you for coming home to get it done!

threestepsforward · 29/09/2011 16:28

Hello all

thanks for all your kind words about poor fishie. Bit better today but still feel awful about it... Will do my best not to kill the other one now...

Knotty and Notyummy I'm really impressed with all the weights going on. I reckon it's a good idea to get 4 kg ones, then you'll have a whole buffet of weights to choose from Notyummy!

Sometimes I have my 1.5 / 2 / 2.5 kgs all laid out to choose from in one session. My 3kg ones from the tip are too big in size to use easily...but they'd be too heavy for me anyway. I'm really impressed with you guys using 3 kg upwards...

Did a L3 shred this afternoon. Was considering 2 levels back to back today but I was a bit meh...I blame it on the heat!

Determined to keep on so will be checking in tomorrow, have a great rest of day Smile

practicallyimperfect · 29/09/2011 18:06

Rubbish. I do slimming world too and just been to be weighed. Despite eating ok, and doing 4 days of shred I have gained 1lb! I feel so demoralised. :(
