Oops we're full up again! Hope it's OK to start a new thread. Come on Jillian devotees, let's keep up the good work and the great results!

Right. Had a rubbish week exercise-wise (and indeed generally) last week. DH away on business, DS settling into school, DD teething, etc etc. Need encouragement to do better this week ladies! Working from home today so should be able to fit in a decent session...

knotty am Grin at the thought of your DP running downstairs to find out if you were ok only to find you grunting doing the jumping lunges! And notyummy also Shock at your version of taking it easy!

notyummy · 19/09/2011 11:45

Go on Jackster - you can do it!! Report back when you have done. Hope this week is better for you in general.

I have slightly sore legs from doing L1 with 5kg weights (apart from side lunge and arm raise where I had to drop down to 3kg) followed by Matt Roberts which involves, amongst other delights, 40 walking lunges. Then did a 7 mile run yesterday, which was actually great because the weather was gorgeous yesterday morning so it was nice to be out in the fresh air. Depending when I get in from work today, I may try and fit in a 6W6P, but I have a stonking headache at the moment and dont feel like doing anything.

knottyhair · 19/09/2011 14:37

. Hope you manage to fit something in today. notyummy, I'm not surprised you have "slightly sore legs" - Jesus, I felt good this morning when I did L1 with 3kg (apart from 2kg on the side lunge thingies). AND you followed it with Matt Roberts Shock. I followed it with a 10 min walk to Waitrose Grin. Hope your headache is better.

Thanks for the encouragement ladies. Have just managed NMTZ all the way through. Woo Hoo! May not be feeling quite so exhilarated tomorrow however! Hope you feel better notyummy. Well done on the shredding all.

chocolateshoes · 19/09/2011 21:03

full of bad cold and anable to muster energy to Shred. Grrrr.

febes · 19/09/2011 21:16

I did my first Jillian in 2 weeks yesterday. The whole of NMTZs. I could really feel the plank work which normally don't bother me so I must have lost a bit of upper body strength with just running and cycling.
I am on week 5 of C25K and cycled 20k over the weekend in 2 sessions. Also swam a few lengths on Sunday and did water aerobics last week. I have missed Jillian though so I'll try to fit her in more frequently. I can't go losing my guns!!

knottyhair · 20/09/2011 14:39

Jackster, how are you feeling today after NMTZ? Hope you're feeling better notyummy. Chocolateshoes, I wouldn't attempt ANYTHING if you're full of cold. Hope you can get some rest, and get back to it when you're better. Febes, you're doing so much at the moment, I wouldn't worry about not having done Jillian in a while! But I know what you mean about missing her . Can't wait for Ripped in 30 in December!

Did just 4 circuits of NMTZ this morning (very short of time today). Managed mostly 3kg but that first circuit, there was no way I would get through it with more than 2kg!

OP posts:
notyummy · 20/09/2011 14:54

I am feeling better thanks Knotty but didn't do anything in the end yesterday as I felt so rough. Managed a 5 mile run this morning and plan to do NMTZ on Thursday. The first circuit is hard isn't it? I use 5KG for the first exercise (squat and press) but then need to drop down for 3kg for the rest. I usually really ache after a combination of those 2 weights, so stand by for me on here on Friday complaining about how sore my legs are!

Jacksterbear · 20/09/2011 20:00

choc hope u feel better soon and don't beat yourself up over a few missed days. febes - great work! knotty, am aching but in a pleasing way! And notyummy, yes circuit 1 NMTZ is a killer! Hate the bit when she says "this is only the first circuit, you should be feeling fresh". Err, no, I'm feeling like I'm about to die, actually.

febes · 20/09/2011 21:19

Haha I'm glad I'm not the only one who grimaces at that line!!! Circuit one is hard. I love the abs in circuit 2 the best. I managaed about 4 real pressups the other day.

knottyhair · 21/09/2011 09:54

Wow notyummy, I can't imagine using 5kg for those moves! I do try a few with 3kg but I end up changing back down to 2 about half way through the first set Blush. Chocolate, hope you're on the mend. Jackster, I know exactly what you mean about "feeling fresh"! febes, congrats on the real press-ups. I can usually manage a few on the first go round but then drop to my knees pretty quickly. I can manage proper ones for the walking & travelling ones in L2 & 3 Shreds, I guess it must be because you move out of the hold in between?? But when I think back to this time last year when I had trouble holding a plank for 30 seconds, there's definitely an improvement in my upper body strength. Managed to fit in 4 circuits of BFBM before the school run this morning. Just as well seeing as I'm about to make a big pear & chocolate crumble - definitely crumble weather here!

threestepsforward · 21/09/2011 13:36

ooo Knotty, pear & choc crumble sounds delicious Grin

Hello all, have fallen off the Jillian wagon a bit recently but have done 2 Shreds over the last few days and all this talk of NMTZ has inspired me to do it today. Agree on the 1st circuit, it's damn hard! I find the triceps circuit hard too, with the surrenders and crescent pose. Wish me luck!

Everyone sounds like they're doing fab Smile

VenetiaLanyon · 21/09/2011 13:54

hello all, lots of good Jiliianing appears to be in progress Grin I am still shredding every day, but have fallen off the healthy eating wagon a bit and weight has plateaued; nag at me / inspire me please, folks Smile

knottyhair · 21/09/2011 14:24

You can do it Venetia! Have you tried/do you use MFP or anything similar? It would give you a daily allowance in order to lose a weekly amount, and really keeps you on the straight & narrow. I'd be useless without it.

OP posts:
chocolateshoes · 21/09/2011 18:15

Thanks for the good wishes! unfortunately still feeling grim. Attempted the warm up for NMTZ and gave up straight away I felt so weak. Knotty - I think we'd all like the pear & choc crumble recipe please! have family coming for tea on Mon could be ideal!

Keep going Venetia!

knottyhair · 21/09/2011 18:50

OK! These amounts are only rough mind, I got it online but to be honest I had slightly less pears than it said, and I ended up freezing a bit of the topping as it seems a bit too much. Put 300g plain flour, 200g cold butter and 150g brown sugar into a food processor and pulse until it makes breadcrumb-like mixture. Add 100g rolled oats and pulse until mixed. Chill the mixture. Peel, core & cube about 2kg pears and put in a pan with the juice of 2 lemons and 50g caster sugar. Cook until the pears start to get a bit soft (depends how ripe they are. Leave to cool (I just left mine for a bit, they were still warm). Put in an ovenproof dish and mix in 50g chopped dark chocolate. Add the topping, and sprinkle with a bit extra brown sugar. Bake for 20-25 mins at 200 (180 fan). I rather anally worked out the calories and I think it's about 500 cals per portion if you get 8 portions. I'm having half a portion with a bit of low fat custard tonight. Can't bloody wait!

OP posts:
knottyhair · 21/09/2011 18:50

Just to add if you haven't got a processor, just rub the butter into the flour and sugar and then mix in the oats.

VenetiaLanyon · 22/09/2011 09:46

I love the fact that I get wonderful diet encouragement from chocolate and knotty, followed by a chocolate crumble recipe Grin

knottyhair · 22/09/2011 10:11

I know! But it's all about balance, and not depriving yourself. That's why I find MFP so helpful, you can see exactly what you can have.

OP posts:
VenetiaLanyon · 22/09/2011 10:43

agree with how good MFP is as well, but am a bit too good at not depriving myself and have lapsed...am about to try to devise a new set of rules that mean I lose half a stone by Xmas...

chocolateshoes · 22/09/2011 19:36

that sounds lovely Knotty = thanks for posting

notyummy · 23/09/2011 09:42

Managed all of NMTZ yesterday with combination of 5 and 3kg. Was hard, but I don't actually ache too much this morning. Find the surrenders with 3 kg hard, and did the crunch with chest press and chest flys with leg raises both with 5kg..... That felt hard core!! Running today.

Pear and choc crumble sounds good but rhurbarb crumble with cream us my undisputed fav!

VenetiaLanyon · 23/09/2011 10:12

rhubarb crumble good, blackberry crumble sublime...Smile

Sounds like you can eat as much crumble as you want with all that exercise, notyummy!

knottyhair · 23/09/2011 10:19

Wow, notyummy, I can only manage a few surrenders with 3kg before I have to drop back down to 2s. And the chest flys with leg raises are hard enough with 3kg for me, I have to grunt to get them done Grin. Just did a L1 6W6P this morning with 3kg which dare I say it felt a bit easy?? Could be a fluke, don't think I'll be ordering my 5kg weights yet!

Crumble-wise, I'm not too fussy, but the pear & chocolate one was very very very nice, although I am partial to a rhubarb one also, particularly with a little bit of stem ginger mixed in. Also apple with a bit of apricot jam mixed in is DS's favourite, but then I also like an apple & blackberry cobbler which is obviously deviating from the crumble theme..... hello? hello? Is anyone there? I can only hear snoring..... I'll get me coat.

Afternoon all!

Knotty thanks for that recipe. Will definitely try that out. I totally hate cooking but love making puddings Grin

Am trying to step back up on the exercise after being lazy resting due to strained arm. It does feel better now. And DP is now Shredding!! I persuaded him to do L1 with me on Sunday and he's now a convert, I think. His only gripe is it's 'all about the ladees'. (How is he going to cope with L2 and all the talk of jeans and bathing suit shopping Grin)

Am off for the weekend to visit my Dad but will be back on the Shredmill next week.

Hope everyone has a great weekend Smile
