Oops we're full up again! Hope it's OK to start a new thread. Come on Jillian devotees, let's keep up the good work and the great results!

Good luck with 6W6P l2 Bproud - it is tough and I think the cardio aspect in particular is hard work the second time through when you are doing it double speed. It does get easier though, so even if you find find it really tough, keep trying! The first few times, I will be honest, I was slightly nauseous by the end - I think it is the amount of cardio stuff done whilst horizontal that my body finds quite hard to deal with (moguls, side planks with a kick, mountain climbers....) When you are doing them at full speed one after an another I find it really tough, especially as I am so competitive that I have to be going the same speed as the 'hard' level - or faster! I did find after the 4th go it seemed slightly easier. I use a 3kg weight for it.

Paxton - well done for getting back to it!

Just a 45 session on the crosstrainer yesterday. Would have gone for a run but the pavements are still completely covered in snow here. Nothing today and tomorrow because of v long work days. Hope to do NMTZ or Ripped on Friday, as am going away to parents this weekend so will only be able to run Saturday and Sunday.

McPie · 08/02/2012 11:27

Thank you everyone I feel pretty fab today so it must have been a 24 hr bug.
I am back to over planning my workouts again so cut everything in half I will probably benifit from this plan more than over doing it like I was.

notyummy · 08/02/2012 11:58

Glad you are feeling better Mcpie - your plan sounds v sensible.

gingercat12 · 08/02/2012 12:57

Mcpie Glad you are feeling better.

We were at in-laws this weekend, but I took Shred with me and borrowed some weights. (I had to exercise in a community room with the blinds closed.)

Still had to miss 2 days in the past few days, but I did not have a break last week.

Am in two minds whether to start L3 or stay with L2 a little longer. I have done 11 days on L2 so far.

VenetiaLanyon · 08/02/2012 13:22

Pleased to hear that you're back in the saddle, McPie; good luck with your plan.

Paxton, sounds like you're well and truly back in the Jillian zone Smile

Threesteps, I'm a couple of days behind you on Ripped; day 3 of L2 today, and, like you, I hate the plank jacks and mountain climbers with a vengeance, and have to have 2 seconds respite from plank in-between the moves.

I also can't do the sit-ups right at the end of L2; combo of lack of strenght plus lack of co-ordination proving fatal here. I even struggle doing to toe-taps and touch toes things in the warm-up, so bad is my sense of self; feels like patting head and rubbing tummy...Hmm

On a happy note, I hit my pre-baby weight for the first time in 4 years today - hurrah!

CarelessWispa · 08/02/2012 14:39

hello shredding ladies

I've been lurking for a while, and used to post on previous 'shred' conversation under a different name. Smile

Just a quick question. How would you say the new Ripped in 30 dvd compares with Level 3 of the shred, and also to Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism (I did this for the first time on Saturday and it nearly killed me. Can hardly walk).

Thanks, in advance.

RedBlanket · 08/02/2012 14:47

Day 2 level 2 OMFG!!
I could hardly walk up the stairs at work today.
That plank stuff is so hard.

threestepsforward · 08/02/2012 15:50

Afternoon all!

RedBlanket you will survive, promise! Are you doing Shred? The jump from L1 to L2 is a bit of a shock.

Gingercat I'd go up to L3 if you think don't think you're being pushed by L2 any more (mind you all the levels seem to push me when I go back to them!).

Well done for getting back to Shredding thePaxton - I know exactly what you mean about remembering the feel-good factor when you can't be arsed!

McPie great news you're feeling better - take it easy with the exercise until you feel 100% Smile

Notyummy, after reading your description of L2 6W6P, I've tucked it to the back of my Jillian DVDs - it's looking rather dusty!!

Hi Careless! I reckon if you can do Burn Fat you can definitely handle Ripped. I think it's a bit more intense than Shred, maybe cos it's faster, or it feels it! There are quite a few moves that are also in Shred/BFBM etc. so it's not all unfamiliar. Mind you, I've not got past L2 yet and reports on L3 and L4 are quite Shock. So far I'm really enjoying it...

Venetia fab news on the weight loss - well done, you must be really chuffed Smile Good to know I'm not the only person suffering that cardio section, and I'm usually okay with cardio... I actually feel a bit sick by the end of it! I tend to do the cheat version of her abs stuff as my lower back is a bit iffy, I should maybe be a bit braver!

Have finished up work for the day and am procrastinating by writing here...L2 Day 5 will be done by the end of the day!

Will check back in tomorrow ...

RedBlanket · 08/02/2012 17:09

Threestepsforward - yes the shred. I didn't realise how much I've been coasting at level 1 even doing Natalie. I spent the cool down period lying facing down on the carpet the first day. When she said 'see you tomorrow'. I told her to eff off!
I've been off and on with the shred for ages, doing a couple of days then nothing for a few weeks. This time I'm determined to get to Day 30.
For abs, I do them the pilates way which doesn't strain the lower back so much. Im not as fast as Jillian but i don't get the back pain from doing it her way.

Bproud · 08/02/2012 20:25

I've got a bad back today, I'm not sure if it was caused by stepping through the 6w6p L2 moves without properly warming up, or by having to scramble back into my car when it started rolling across the car park at work because I forgot to put the handbreak on Blush
Either way, no exercise for mw today, other than a fairly gentle walk, ibuprofen and hot water bottle for me tonight...

knottyhair · 09/02/2012 08:37

Blimey, this thread has been busy! Hope those of you with injuries are doing OK but great to see so much Jillianing going on. I did Killer Buns L1 again yesterday, and a quick L3 Shred first thing this morning. Might give Killer Buns L2 a go tomorrow - bit scared! Well done to those of you progressing through the Shred - keep going!

OP posts:
McPie · 09/02/2012 10:52

Just done Killer Buns for the second time and as tough and sweat inducing it is I found it a lot easier this time round.
I managed to do most of the surrenders and pop ups without having to push myself up.
I thought burpees were my nemisis untill I met single leg burpees, they aint ever going to happen so I just did a single leg plank hop which was hard enough.
I noticed that Natalie seems to be skiving quite a bit in L2 and I can do a lot more of Anitas moves than I ever thought I would be able to.

Happypiglet · 09/02/2012 11:16

Hope everyone's injuries improve! Well this week have managed a L2 Shred on Monday, BFBM yesterday and NMTZ today. Circuits 3 and 6 in BFBM are a real killer. 'old fashioned callisthenics' as she calls it... I hate hate hate star jumps. And those 180 jump squats ugh
In NMTZ the triceps one is my undoing...surrenders arh...
I am in awe of people who say they do a 'quick L3' I need to psyche myself up for every work out.... But I got in to my skinny jeans this morning without lying on the floor to heave them over my hips so it seems to be paying off!!,

gingercat12 · 09/02/2012 13:38

Threestepsforward Thank for the tip. I tried L3 of the Shred, as I am rubbish at L2 as well, so really nothing to lose. The first day is always easy, because I miss half the action by the time I work out what I am supposed to do...

worldgonecrazy · 09/02/2012 15:09

redblanket what are pilates style sit ups? I have real trouble with doing full sit ups as the lower part of my back doesn't curve properly.

RedBlanket · 09/02/2012 16:11

I can do it but I can't really explain how to. I just know when it feels right and wrong. Really helps my back.

like this

Jacksterbear · 09/02/2012 16:58

knotty snap with you (on the L3 shred today) for the second time this week I think! (Did I remember correctly that we both did L2 6w6p on Mon?)

Nice work everyone. x

Jacksterbear · 09/02/2012 17:03

p.s. happypiglet I totally agree with you re the awfulness of surrenders in NMTZ and 180 jumps in BFBM - they are in my top 5 worst Jillian moves of all time (along with squat thrusts, squats-with-v-raises, and the backwards-lunges-with-side-arm-raises from NMTZ circuit 1). Grin

chocolateshoes · 09/02/2012 17:17

just popping in to say today is my non sport day so will be flopping in front of the TV with a glass of red once I get back from DS's swimming. Well done everyone!

threestepsforward · 09/02/2012 17:53

Enjoy the rest day chocolateshoes Smile + Wine
Hope everyone with injuries and bugs is feeling better today...

Jacksterbear I love (or should that be hate) your list of least-favourite moves! I would add to those the blasted mountain climbers (on the mat or on your feet, take your pick!).

Thanks for the pilates tip redblanket - everything falls into place when I'm doing it right, so I must be using my core, but as soon as I do it slightly wrong my lower back bears the brunt.

Keep going with the Shredding! You'll be amazed how things change if you stick with it for the 30 days...

Day 6 of L2 Ripped done! Annoying I can't get through 7 days before I go away but will have to finish it up next week as I'm off tomorrow til Sunday. Hope everyone has a great weekend whatever they are up to Smile

knottyhair · 09/02/2012 19:26

Happypiglet, when I say "quick Level 3", I'm merely referring to the fact it's 20 mins, and the fact that if I do it immediately, I don't have time to think about it!
Jackster, are you by any chance doing L2 Killer Buns tomorrow Grin??

OP posts:
knottyhair · 09/02/2012 19:27

Cross-posted again! Chocolate, enjoy your wine! Threesteps, well done on 6 days of L2 Ripping!

OP posts:
Pixel · 09/02/2012 23:26

Hi fellow shredders, I was watching 'Don't mess with the Zohan' last night (had forgotten what a great film it is) and when I saw I couldn't help thinking "hope Jillian doesn't see this and get ideas" Grin

McPie · 10/02/2012 08:23

I wouldn't put it past her Pixel Grin

VenetiaLanyon · 10/02/2012 09:40

Threesteps, are you religiously doing 7 days of each week in Ripped? I had a more lazy liberal interpretation of one level a week, and following Jillian's suggestion of only 5-6 days exercise in that week. By that token, you've already finished L2 Smile

Knee slightly painful again today, and am still rubbishly amateur at L2 Ripped moves; my croww push-ups look more like sparrows...
