Oops we're full up again! Hope it's OK to start a new thread. Come on Jillian devotees, let's keep up the good work and the great results!

Thanks for the early birthday wishes! I was going to go for a run today but I was feeling quite out of sorts and just could not force myself to do it (most unlike me.) Ended up doing my Yoga dvd, which I haven't done in ages, which really perked me up. Then did a tabata session on the crosstrainer and nearly threw up! Intend to go for a run before work tomorrow instead, then NMTZ on Saturday and Ripped on Sunday. Day off on Monday.

Hope injuries heal soon threesteps, Venetia and Paxton.

threestepsforward · 26/01/2012 21:49

Quick hello to say yay I managed L1 Ripped. Took it quite gently and so far all feels okay (mind you this happened last time - knee threw a hissy fit the next day!).

Will try again gently tomorrow and hopefully I can slowly get back into the swing of it.

Yoga sounds great notyummy. Paxton, I did a lot of pilates over the past week and got really quite into it but glad to be back in Jillian territory Smile

Well done Fauxfox and hello to everyone else, onwards we go!

knottyhair · 27/01/2012 10:16

Venetia, how did you get on at the physio? Threesteps, hope your knee feels OK this morning. Fauxfox, well done for keeping on with the Shred, as well as running! Paxton, have a lovely weekend away, where are you off to? Notyummy, hope you're feeling better today, and what is a tabata session??

Went out for dinner last night for a friend's birthday and I bought her NMTZ as a present (at her request I hasten to add!). Everyone around the table was looking at it and asking lots of questions about Jillian. There were 3 of us there who already do her workouts and it turned into a proper Q&A session! I really should charge commission Grin. One of my friends told me she gets up at 5am in order to Shred before leaving for work!

Did L1 Killer Buns again this morning - added some extra weights for some of the moves, but I still tip over whenever I attempt the advanced sumo bridge things. Either a L2 Shred (still my nemesis) or a Ripped tomorrow, and the other one on Sunday. Hope you all have a good weekend x

FauxFox · 27/01/2012 10:44

Done day 5 L1 shred and a 5k run this morn...daily shred and three 5k runs this week together with avoiding obvious carbs (bread/pots/alcohol/rice/pasta) and junk food and I have lost 5lb and an inch off my waist since monday Grin

Happy weekend all!

notyummy · 27/01/2012 10:53

Tabata training. The article describes doing it with light weights but I have only ever done the cardio version, either on a cross trainer or sprints. It is tough but effective and obviously very short. Word of warning - don't try doing it like I did once in the middle of a 5 mile run, as when I finished I was still 2 miles from home and literally finished - spent. Had to sit on the pavement for a few minutes Blush.

Well done on weight and inch loss Faux!

Feeling still a bit 'meh' but think it is hormonal. I can feel my muscles from the big stretches yesterday during the yoga! Have just got back from 5 mile run in the sunshine that I think has helped my mood.

threestepsforward · 27/01/2012 12:46

Morning all Smile

Knotty you should e-mail Jillian and ask if you can be an official spokesperson, on commission of course Wink

Notyummy Tabata sounds really interesting. Do you think you could do it on a mat so to speak, so doing high-intensity but 'all in one place' for the sprint equivalent? In L1 of Ripped, Jillian does butt-kicks but really goes fast at the end, wondered whether something like that would work? With the weights, I'm not sure I've got anything heavy enough to be effective Confused (I can't run as I really hate it and have the technique flapping arms of Phoebe in Friends!!)

Such a gorgeous day here, was a treat to be out with the dog today!

threestepsforward · 27/01/2012 12:51

p.s. I totally get the 'meh' feeling! I often get it with PMT and you can't put your finger on what's wrong but you just feel, well, meh! Hope you get your va va voom back in time for your birthday Smile

McPie · 27/01/2012 16:27

Woo hoo I am at the end of Ripped in 30 Grin I have done 6 of each level since the 1st and am pretty chuffed with myself. Back to level 1 in the morning to start it all over again.
Well done to everyone who has lost weight/inches, I wont know until the morning but will report back. I hope everyone who is out with injury has a speedy recovery and notyummy enjoy your birthday Ripped on sunday (as well as the rest of the day).

notyummy · 27/01/2012 16:32

Threesteps- because you are working so fast in tabata I doubt whether you need much weight at all tbh. It really doesnt sound that much, but the burn builds over the 8 reps and by about 2 minutes in and onwards I am dying. You could do sprints on the spot (or jumping jacks etc I guess.)

threestepsforward · 27/01/2012 17:42

Thanks notyummy, will definitely give that a go! I found a 'tabbata timer' on line, which counts down your 20/10/20 etc. seconds, let me know if anyone wants me to post a link, I may not be able to as I am a bit crap with stuff like that!

McPie well done!!! Oh my goodness, back to the start and all over again Shock - your dedication and sheer-mindedness is amazing!

Fauxfox I completely missed your inch and weight loss - bloody fantastic Grin, seriously well done...Once you see the first results it really gives you the incentive to carry on doesn't it?

Well I managed day 2 of Ripped post-knee. So far it seems all right. I'll be so relieved when it's a distant memory as all the time I'm exercising I'm almost waiting for it to ping, nightmare!

All things good, I will be doing some form of Rippage / Tabbata'ing / Pilating this weekend, have a good one all Smile

nettie · 27/01/2012 19:45

Oh wise JM followers help me please. I did nmtz for first time today, on those blooming windmill things where are my legs suppose to goGrin do I lift them and aim them towards each arm in turn or do i just lift them centrally like in a normal reverse curl, not that I could do more than 3 of them in any way but just for future referenceSmile. Apart from that problem, I thought it was an ok workout, only called her a bitch onceGrin

worldgonecrazy · 28/01/2012 08:26

Today I did Level 4 of Ripped, OMG it is hard, but surprisingly I found it less hard than Level 3. I have lost over an inch of my waist in less than a week :)

McPie · 28/01/2012 09:34

Right the scales are being an arse as usual, I weighed the same this morning as I did last night before tea but had hoped for a reduction on that. l have lost 4lb since the 1st of the month which is better than nowt considering how reluctant my body is to let me lose anything.
I have dropped 2 inches off my bust, 1 3/4 off my waist, 5 1/2 of my belly flab and 2 1/2 of my bum which I am more than happy with, I can get my jeans on now without having to wear my flexees vests Grin.
I have major dents in places I can't measure, shoulders, shins and below the knee to name just a few and am going to keep working at it in the hope that some of my dents start joining together.

notyummy · 28/01/2012 09:57

AMAZING inch loss ladies. Wow!

Nettie - in the windmills you are supposed to aim for each shoulder I think. That is what I do, anyway!

NMTZ this morning. By myself I think as DH isn't feeling too well.

knottyhair · 28/01/2012 10:08

Great weight loss and inch loss Fauxfox and McPie! 4lb in just under a month is good going, a healthy rate of weight loss. Nettie, are you talking about the "windshield wipers"? If so, then same as notyummy, I aim for each shoulder. Hope your DH gets better soon, notyummy.
Did L3 Ripped again this morning - it doesn't get any easier! Still struggle with those duck walk things but enjoyed it though. L2 Shred tomorrow. Have a good weekend x

nettie · 28/01/2012 10:18

Thanks, meant windshield wipers, must have been in too much pain to think straight.

chocolateshoes · 28/01/2012 14:57

wow McPie that's brilliant!

am still on wk 2 of RI30 which I'm finding easier than wk 1 Confused

that tabata thing sounds interesting - ['off to research' emoticon needed]

threestepsforward · 28/01/2012 22:19

Well done everyone who's creeping up the levels in Ripped, and well done McPie, all the effort is paying off, that's brilliant!!

Knee area felt a bit funny today so didn't dare risk a Ripped with the lunging and squatting, it's so frustrating! I did though have a go at a 4-minute Tibata (nearly wrote ciabatta!)...

I did a mix of jumping jacks and jump ropes as they cause my knee no trouble. Wow! That was hard, and fun! I think I could go a bit faster for the sprint bits, but was a really interesting introduction. Used the tabata counter I found on line. I was really puffed by the end of the 4 minutes Grin

Have a good rest of weekend all

notyummy · 28/01/2012 22:22

Well done threesteps- perhaps try it with something like high knees. If you did proper high knee sprints using your arms hard as well then it would be a killer!

threestepsforward · 29/01/2012 10:32

I can definitely imagine that would be a killer notyummy! Happy Birthday, hope you have a great day Smile

Hoping to do another Ripped today as knee feels okay...

notyummy · 29/01/2012 10:49

Well I did L3 and the first half of L4 Ripped this morning as a 'welcome to your 40s' present. I found some of the exercises slightly hard to pick up but the plus side was that it wizard by as I was trying to concentrate on what to do. I only used 3kg- but swiftly discovered that I can't use even that for the weighted shoulder press and superman in the first strength bit in L4! It felt hard on my legs as I had worked hard on NMTZ yesterday and gone running the day before. Agree that the duck walks are hard, and also thought those ones where you sit down, roll up to reverse curl and then get up to a jump without using your hands was pretty tough. Overall I didn't find much of it tricky cardio wise (except perhaps the jumping jacks with front kicks) but thought there was some good innovative strength moves in there where you really had to concentrate. Not sure how DH will like it- his balance isn't that great and this tests it more than the shred. He is still not well so didn't accompany me this morning.

notyummy · 29/01/2012 10:50

Wizard- wizzed

FauxFox · 29/01/2012 10:58

Happy Birthday Notyummy!

Done L1D7 shred and my plan for the week is to run 5k on Mon Weds and Fri and shred every day (finishing L1 Weds and starting L2 on Thursday)...bit scared of L2 but will be brave!

knottyhair · 29/01/2012 12:20

Happy Birthday notyummy! Have a lovely day, sorry your DH is still under the weather. Hope he gets better soon. Glad your knee is on the mend threesteps. Fauxfox, personally I'd be more scared of running 5k 3 times than of L2! I did L2 Shred this morning - still my least favourite but not as bad as it used to be. I think I'll be doing a Ripped in 30 tomorrow, maybe Killer Buns on Tuesday, 4 circuits of NMTZ on Weds, rest day Thursday.

chocolateshoes · 29/01/2012 14:12

happy Birthday NY! Enjoy your day.

Am really keen to give this Tabata thing a go. Was wondering about doing mountain climbers for it. This is a really busy week for me and I'm going to struggle to do anything before 8pm most evenings so might have a go at a Tabata on an evening where I'm short of time.

since starting the JM torture my shoulders & upper arms have really toned up and someone at work even commented on my 'sculpted arms'! However my tummy flab is mega resistant and I probably should make less lemon drizzle cake.
