Hi Nolda. I also groan Blush. Venetia, sorry you're in pain! Take care, and it's interesting what your physio told you, never heard that before, something to think about. McPie, wow, you are cracking on through it! Let us know what L4 is like, I've yet to try L3.

Welcome to the new recruits to the thread Grin

Still resting here, grrr!! Venetia, sorry to hear about your knee. I've never heard that either but will be mindful of it in the future! I'm resting my knee for a week too, and think I will probably start Ripped again from the beginning when I'm better as it's been all too stop and start...

Did some very half-hearted pilates yesterday. I need Jillian to shout at me!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend Smile

Happypiglet · 20/01/2012 16:57

I did Day three of level one of Shred today. Had a day off yesterday as had to clean the house in preparation for my in laws arriving today- it had been some time since I last cleaned so after 5 hours I couldn't face the Shred too!
Did Ok today but still find the first cardio bit hard- not sure why but I have never been great at star jumps and after three kids I have to concentrate really hard on holding it all together IYKWIM! I still ache but it is getting less difficult to bend down!

chocolateshoes · 20/01/2012 17:53

hellooooo everyone....haven't called in for ages - glad to see you're all ahrd at it. I too have started RI30 and am finding it v hard. def as hard as level 2 Shred, maybe worse. Am using 5K weights. Have almost done a week and should be moving on to wk 2 on Sunday but must admit I feel a bit scared!!!

notyummy · 20/01/2012 18:23

Hello new recruits! Weather so roten here today I didn't do my long run (which hacks me off because getting out in the fresh air is good in so many ways.) 50 minutes on the crosstrainer followed by 50 tricep dips and 50 lat raises instead.

NMTZ tomorrow and double shred on Sunday!

McPie · 21/01/2012 11:24

Level 4 Ripped in 30 is tough going, so tough you can even see the sweat running down poor Bashira's stomach half way through!!! Plank mobiles WTF!!!
The only thing I really struggled with was the burpees but put them in any workout and I will struggle with them, I do the single leg ones she modifys in BFBM. For my first run through it was not bad but hope to get better as I get used to the flow of the moves.
She gives you a little pep talk after the last ab section with you lying flat on your back, which was quite welcomed but it felt like she then rushed through the cool down so I went and done all the moves again holding each for 20 seconds.

notyummy · 21/01/2012 12:11

Well done Mcpie- something for me to look forward to!

In exciting news here, I just managed all the surrenders with 5kg.

chocolateshoes · 21/01/2012 12:38

eeeek McPie.....should prob start wk 2 tomorrow but today was hard again (although maybe it is getting easier) so will start wk 2 on Monday I think. Which ones are the surrenders Notyummy? I usually do DVD with music playing to help me through and tend to forget the names of the moves

notyummy · 21/01/2012 13:13

Surrenders are in circuit 4 of NMTZ. Holding weights above your head the whole time, you knee down and get back up again. Tough!

gingercat12 · 21/01/2012 13:24

Hello,

My handweights have arrived thanks to your advice. I only dare to use the 1kg ones at the minute. Am quite a wuss, also very unfit. Shred L1 Day 7 today. Maybe I am more enthusiastic, but it is getting harder. However I weighed myself and it did make a huge difference already.
Ripped sounds hard core. I'll get it if I survive the Shred. I would much prefer to do just Pilates, but I need cardio to lose weight.

Hope everyone starts to feel better soon.

knottyhair · 21/01/2012 13:48

Ginger, stick with it, sounds like you're already seeing progress. McPie, I bow down to you. Am torn between feeling scared at the prospect and thinking that I can't wait to give levels 3 & 4 a go. Chocolate, keep going, it will get easier! Notyummy, wow, I can only manage 3kgs for the surrenders and a lot of grunting! Did a L1 6W6P this morning (I tend to do all of them in rotation so I don't get bored, but I am doing the newer ones more often). Used 3kg and added weights for some of the mat work. Still a hard workout!

threestepsforward · 21/01/2012 17:28

ooo I'm so jealous Envy So wish I could get back into it but I obviously didn't rest long enough last time so I'm not risking it! Hopefully I should be back to it late next week, fingers crossed!

Have being doing some pilates in the meantime. Jacksterbear do you find the first lot of arm exercises hard (until you move down to the mat)? I can't remember them being that hard but - wow... had to move down to 1.5 kg to manage them!

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend Smile

gingercat12 · 21/01/2012 19:49

It is amazing how Jillian's motivational crap (sorry) works. I find the 3rd cardio easiest in Shred level 1, when she says "and you're floating up from the floor", and I really am...

And my libido is back Blush. That is why I like exercising.

Today was the hardest as my toddler was desperate to be noticed in the armchair while I was exercising. He was jumping up and down shouting "Mommy, mommy!" Buzz Lightyear going on in the background "I've never done it myself, Commander, and I am not about to start."

Where do you put your toddlers while getting tortured?

Jacksterbear · 21/01/2012 20:25

3steps I did the arms section from the pilates 10mins dvd today too (after u mentioned it the other day it inspired me to give it a go!) , and could only manage it with 1kgs. I don't have 1.5 kgs weights but have tried that section with 2kgs before and not got more than about 30 seconds in before having to drop down to 1! It really burns doesn't it!

Jacksterbear · 21/01/2012 20:31

Oh and gingercat - not a chance of exercising while my 16mo DD is around, have to do it in evenings or weekends or occasionally get a chance if she naps in the day. Can do it with almost 5yo ds around, he just joins in and tells me which bits I'm doing wrong Grin.

chocolateshoes · 21/01/2012 21:51

Ah yes Notyummy, I remember those - they are a nightmare. I def drop down weights for those.
Reading the thread back having missed so much - is Jillian on the Biggest loser then? If so I'll make an effort to watch.

notyummy · 21/01/2012 22:03

Chocolate- get with the beat baggy Grin. The reason Jilluan is famous is that she is 'TVs Toughest Trainer from The Biggest Loser'!
The US one though. It's on Saturday nights at 8pm on Sky Living.

notyummy · 22/01/2012 09:33

Double shred done- Ls 2 and 3 with 5kg except v raises and the squat and pull thing at the beginning of L2 (after walk out pressups.) I struggle to do those with 3kg and even dh can't do then with 5kg! Was aching after I stepped up the weights in NMTZ yesterday! Day off tomorrow and l2 6W6P on Tuesday. Hope you all have good days.

Ouchywawa · 22/01/2012 10:46

All these people doing double shreds...

I have done Killer Buns level 2 this week. Not bad, although I think I spent more time trying to figure out what I was supposed to be doing than actually doing. Not that sore afterwards. That said, I think I am going to do Killer once or twice a week and concentrate more on the cardio dvds - so I did Ripped this morning. In an ideal world I would now do a big Ripped in 30 month...how can I motivate myself to get up in the morning and do it every day?!!

Nolda · 22/01/2012 11:22

Double shred? Is that shred in the morning and again in the evening [hopeful emotion] or is it one level straight after another Shock?

DH shredded for the first time last night. He has always been supportive of my doing these DVDs but has been very much of the it's only for women camp. However, he loved it, though it was a bit of a shock that he was so unfit - he has been working extremely hard and chained to his office desk for the last few months. He can't wait to shred again today Grin.

Ginger, DH did the shred with both DCs watching and encouraging/distracting him. DS 3 kept calling out "this is great!" Not sure if it was the novelty of daddy exercising or Jillian that was great. I find I need complete peace and quiet for my torture and wait until they are both in bed.

Continuing with Ripped in 30 and enjoying it in a masochistic kind of way.

notyummy · 22/01/2012 11:31

One straight after another Nolda- that way you don't have to shower twice Grin.

Whitershadeofpale · 22/01/2012 14:39

I haven't done anything since Tuesday as I've had a cold and just generally felt achey. I'm really annoyed as was just starting to get into the swing of it again. I am going to to start again later this afternoon. Not sure what to do probably L1 ripped or shred.

chocolateshoes · 22/01/2012 17:14

I am totally in awe of double shredders - respect!!!!

Ah, Yes I knew Jillian did the US Biggest Loser, Not Yummy....for a moment thought she'd come to the UK to sort us all out. Might try to see it though - don't know if I have 'Living'.

Tomorrow I start wk2 RI30 - eeek!

McPie · 22/01/2012 21:03

Ooooh double shred, not done that for about 6 months! I'm doing 6w6p L1 or killer buns L1 followed by Ripped in 30 6 days a week and NMTZ or BFBM 3 afternoons but I think I might do double shred instead in the afternoons for a couple of weeks Grin
