Doh! Just realised you'd done Ripped in 30 ThePaxton - for some reason I thought you'd done Killer Buns!

Jacksterbear · 05/01/2012 18:16

I feel I am missing out so am going to order ripped in 30 I think!

40 mins on cross-trainer at work today.

Excellent new year's efforts going on people! Smile

knottyhair · 06/01/2012 08:46

Oh well. I was all set to try out Killer Buns this morning (inspired by McPie ) but somehow managed to hurt my back yesterday and couldn't really move last night. Tis better this morning but definitely not OK Sad. Going to try and dig out a yoga/stretch type routine from somewhere and give that a go. Hope everyone else is OK and still going great guns! x

notyummy · 06/01/2012 09:10

Fingers crossed you feel better soon Knotty! I am off for a run in the sunshine this morning before it disappears, and will be double shredding with DH tomorrow.

Jacksterbear · 06/01/2012 11:23

Oh dear knotty Sad hope it eases up soon.

threestepsforward · 06/01/2012 13:38

Knotty, snap Sad I bent over to put shoes on this morning and my lower back pinged out of place. It seems okay now, but I'm going to take it very easy today and see how it feels later. Hope you feel better soon.

Hope everyone's having a good day, it's FRIDAY, thank goodness, it's been a hard week back at work!

knottyhair · 06/01/2012 14:12

Oh no threesteps! Hope you get better soon as well. I gave Davina's Core Stablility a go this morning, and it was OK - my back feels better, just a bit of a stitch type pain on one side, but a lot easier than last night! Fingers crossed for tomorrow. Thanks notyummy & jackster - hope you enjoyed your run notyummy.

VenetiaLanyon · 06/01/2012 14:20

Hello, HNY all! I'm inspired by all your "Ripped" talk, and am plucking up courage to start - need to shift the Xmas poundage and quickly...

Does anyone have any views on what weights would be good to start with? I'm currently using 2kg for the Shred; should I keep on with these?

Hope your back recovers quickly, Threesteps.

threestepsforward · 06/01/2012 16:15

Thanks Venetia and Knotty Smile. I've been out on my bike and it seems okay so fingers crossed...!

Venetia I use a mix of 1.5 kg and 2.5 kg for Ripped in 30. If you're using 2 kg for the shred I'd continue to use those and see how you go. There's a strength bit in the last circuit that seems horribly familiar to the V-raises in L2 Shred, and I can't manage those with 2.5 kg but definitely give it a go with 2 kg Smile. Having said that, there are some strength bits in circuit 2 where you might want to up your weights, if you have heavier ones...

ThePaxton · 06/01/2012 19:42

Hope your back is feeling better threesteps I haven't noticed what she says at the end will listen out tomorrow. I have watched Killer Buns and it looks scary!

Venetia I started yesterday with 1kg and it was too easy for a most of it although I did ache today, and I used 2kg today. In fact the 2nd circuit I could go up to 3kg, never thought I'd hear myself say that Grin

McPie · 06/01/2012 20:53

Have done 6 of week one Ripped in 30 this week as well as two 6w6p and two Killer buns and thighs (makes me feel sick by the end of it) which I think is good going considering I have been out of it for so long. This afternoon I done 6w6p then had a 15 min break before doing Ripped and was really happy I managed it. Kids go back monday and my plan is to get it done in the morning but that may not be possible with Killer!
Have watched week 2 properly and recognised quite a lot of the moves from her other workouts but a couple look like they will be tough going, will see in the morning how it goes.

notyummy · 06/01/2012 21:02

Bloody hell Mcpie- there must be nothing left of you. You will have sweated away to a twig!

Managed a 7 mile run in the sunshine this morning, which was great.

McPie · 06/01/2012 21:18

I wish notyummy Sad I weigh a stone more than I did 6 months ago, am now 15 st 6lb and am pretty desperate to do something about it.
Things kinda went crazy in my life and dairy now bloats me and causes pain, hormones went into overdrive and I ended up on anti depressants, which are strangely helping to control the hormones.
I enjoy doing the workouts and have more energy than I have had for a while and am going to continue this way for as long as I can but if all else fails I am keeping a food/workout diary incase I need the Drs help.

Ouchywawa · 07/01/2012 12:03

Wow McPie I am impressed with all your exercise! Have you looked at the Clean & Lean diet? That really helped sort out my bloating and energy issues.

I have been really slack this week since getting back from holiday, starting work etc. I blame jet lag.

However, kicked things off again yesterday with Level 1 Killer Buns & Thighs - OW! Dread to think what Level 2 and 3 are like. Then Level 3 30DS this morning - could really feel my bum muscles after yesterdays effort. Have to get out running again tomorrow morning but expect that will be a struggle.

I am trying to figure out what my weekly regime should be like. In theory I do two short runs and 1 long run. That leaves me 4 days that should be filled with Jillian...so 1 each of 30DS, 6W6P and Killer...and maybe a day rest? Or maybe I should just go all out on Killer for a month or so as that is really where I need the most help?!

Any thoughts?! Anyway, really must get out and enjoy the sunshine after the miserable week we have had.

Have a great weekend everyone.

threestepsforward · 07/01/2012 15:35

Afternoon all Smile

Hope everyone's doing well. McPie are you still with us or just a sweat puddle!!

Ouchy I'm not sure what would be best. A month of Killer sounds good if you say you want to target that particular area. I like having these 1 month challenges (Shred, Ripped etc.) as it gives me a real focus.

Having said that, I'm gutted. My back is still twinging and last night something went very wrong with my knee. I've pulled something on the side of my knee, kind of going down the top side of my calf. It really hurts when I raise it Sad I'm okay walking but there's no way I could do the lunging/bending in the workouts.

Once again my best laid plans etc. etc. I'm crossing everything that it will only take a few days to right itself, and when I'm better I'll pick up where I left off, which was day 5 of Ripped.

Hope you're on the mend with your back knotty...

Will be back when I'm on the mend again. Gah!

notyummy · 07/01/2012 18:20

So sorry about your knee Threesteps.

Mcpie- perhaps the ADs have made you gain weight? I have heard that they can have potential side effects like that. Well done on all the exercise! The Clean and Lean thing sounds interesting. Its a bit predictable, but I find cutting back a lot on carbs and cutting out booze have a definite effect on my weight.

Double shred done this morning. Felt ok actually. Run tomorrow if not too windy.

McPie · 07/01/2012 20:38

Thank you for your concern guys. The weight went on before I went on my ADs and the Dr made sure she picked them carefully for me. It happened around the time dairy started bothering me, around summer, and energy levels dipped sharply so could hardly drag myself out of bed never mind shred!

I didn't feel like I was going to be sick after Killer this morning so I must be getting used to it. I then done my first week 2 of Ripped which went quite well, apart from the ab raises to table thingys as I have quite bad upper body/wrists strength and it was murder but will work on them as the week goes on.

knottyhair · 08/01/2012 09:49

Morning all! Everyone's really going for it, brilliant! Hope your knee is better threesteps, you're doing the right thing in resting it for a few days.
Back still a bit sore when I got up, but decided to give Killer Buns L1 a go and just take it slowly. Found the first 2 circuits the hardest, although I was very wobbly on the last one! Decided to go down to 2kg in case I did any damage but it did feel a bit too light so I think I'll go back up to 3kg next time. A lot of the moves actually felt like they were doing my back some good, like the bridge things when you reach over to the other side - I enjoyed it!

notyummy · 08/01/2012 10:36

Think I may have to order Killer Buns! It has been on my wishlist at Amazon but not disappeared so I don't think it is coming for my birthday... Ripped in 30 has disappeared which I suspect is courtesy of DH- he had said he liked the sound of it more than Killer Buns Wink.

We double shredded yesterday- Ls 2 and 3 and it felt good. 5 mile run before breakfast this morning and I feel all set for the day!

Ouchywawa · 08/01/2012 17:30

I like Killer Buns too. Although after running this morning I am struggling to even walk tonight! I think I am going to do it a couple of times a week for a month and see if it makes any difference. There are a couple of moves in Level 1 where I had to do the 'beginner' version so will not go up to Level 2 until I can do them properly...although I am curious about the use of a chair...

knottyhair · 09/01/2012 08:09

Ouchy, I had to resort to the beginners version for the chair squat thing where you have your foot off the floor - could only manage a few seconds of the proper one! I really find the chair squat position uncomfortable for some reason.
Plan for this week is Ripped in 30 this morning, 6W6P L2 tomorrow, 4 circuits of BFBM on Wednesday, rest day Thursday, 4 circuits of NMTZ on Friday, Killer Buns on Sat, not sure about Sunday yet. If I write it down, I feel more likely to stick to it! Have a good Monday everyone x

OP posts:
ThePaxton · 09/01/2012 10:46

Wow everyone is doing great. knotty I also have to have a plan of what I'm doing, if it's not planned out I won't do it! Hope your knee feels better 3steps.
Didn't do Ripped in 30 over the weekend, but did play Just Dance 3 on the wii with the booys, blimey I was sweating by the end. Ripped in 30 day 3 done today, used 2kgs. Will have to get some 3kgs soon. !! Have a good day everyone.

notyummy · 09/01/2012 10:52

We have Just Dance as well Paxton - it certainly does warm you up. Really good fun! DD loses interest after about 4 dances but I always want to carry on. DH wont play it with me. Grr!

Nothing for me today, but plan L2 6W6P tomorrow, either a run or NMTZ on Wednesday and then depending what I did on WEdnesday, I will do something else on Friday. No time at all today or Thursday. Staying with friends at the weekend but might manage to get out for a run on Saturday.

Whitershadeofpale · 09/01/2012 12:40

Hi, just getting back into the shred after a threemonths break. I didn't find it too bad at the time but am a bit stiff today. I did L1 ripped in 30 on Saturday and, L1 30DS yesterday, planning on Killer B&T tonight. I'm planning on keeping it up for good so alternate between her various DVDs. Just ordered Exreme Shred and wating for it to arrive. She's also got a new kickboxing one due out in March in the US.

Hi all

Can I join? Just started Ripped in 30 - am on Day 4. Am loving it but it would be good to keep the motivation going by chatting to other victims fans of JM. I'm trying to get my butt back into excercise after being a complete lardarse over Christmas. Am vaguely thinking about running every other lunchtime and Ripping it in the evening, but that keenness will probably wear off pretty soon!

Am determined to get to the end of my 30 days though (am planning 7 days for each level) - will no doubt be on here complaining at regular intervals. BTW I accidentally looked at Level 3. My God - even the warmup looked a killer!
