Day 2 of Ripped done! Wow, it is hard actually. I was aching a fair bit this morning and found today really challenging. Probably a lot of that is due to the Christmas feasting but it does seem to be a lot faster than Shred.

That's it for me now until the new year!

Hope you all have a fab time whatever you are up to... see you in 2012 Grin
Threesteps x

notyummy · 30/12/2011 18:26

Thanks for the Ripped feedback! Sounds good.

Dh and I did a double shred yesterday (although I was rather half hearted if truth be told, and dropped down to lower weights for a couple of the strength bits.). Short run today. Will either do some yoga or something not too hardcore tomorrow I think. Off to London on New Years Day and intend to do a lot of walking and a swim at the hotel so nothing then- and then a long run by the Thames on the 2nd hopefully.

McPie · 31/12/2011 10:01

Back of the Ripped in 30 dvd says its a 24 min workout, all in its about 33 mins. Mine arrived yesterday and I had a watch of the whole thing and I can't wait to start tomorrow.

threestepsforward · 02/01/2012 17:56

Happy New Year all Smile

Well normality and reality have brought me back down to earth with a definitely heavier thud Grin

Did my 3rd day of level 1 of Ripped just now, but am going to count it as day 1 and take my 7 days from today.

One of my New Year resolutions is to kick the booze for the foreseeable, certainly a few months, so if I stick to it I should be a lean ish, mean, fighting machine ... at some point ...

Hope everyone enjoyed the Christmas and New Year and is looking forward to 2012 Smile

threestepsforward · 02/01/2012 17:57

p.s. How did you go with Ripped in 30 McPie? Did you do it?

notyummy · 02/01/2012 18:06

Hi all! Until yesterday morning I had no weight gain at all over the festive season....however have just been to London for a couple of days and enjoyed lots of food, so am not sure if that is still the case! Managed a gorgeous run along the Thames at 8 30 this morning as the sun rose. DH and I plan to do NMTZ tomorrow. Sounds like Ripped in 30 is good!

threestepsforward · 02/01/2012 19:33

London sounds like it was great notyummy Smile

Ripped in 30 is really good so far, I'm enjoying it. It definitely moves along faster than the Shred and muscles have ached the next day which has to be a good sign. I have to keep remembering to 'squeeze my booty' in a couple of the strength bits as I don't automatically do it and then she mentions it!

I've cut out my 10 min pilates warm down with Ripped as it's a little longer and the warm down is better than Shred I think. But I may add that back in if I don't feel stretched enough at the end. Will see how it goes!

Good luck with NMTZ tomorrow!

knottyhohohohair · 02/01/2012 19:51

Hi all! I did Ripped in 30 this morning again - I do like it! Managed the advanced versions of everything except push-ups Blush, and used 3kg weights. Hard for me but I enjoyed it! Went on a 3 mile walk (quite steep in parts) with DS & DP afterwards so felt very virtuous until ham, egg & chips in the pub for lunch, then popped in to DP's sisters on the way home and ended up staying for tea - and she did ham, egg & chips! Oh well.

McPie · 02/01/2012 21:07

I love Ripped in 30. I feel I could up the weights though, because you are only doing each for 30 seconds I have found some of them too easy. I am going to give the killer buns and thighs a go as well tomorrow and see how I get on with that.
Kids go back on the 9th and I would love for my trousers to feel a little bit more comfortable, I am not expecting miracles but have decided to drop sugar, snacks and booze (though dh is trying to tempt me into joining him for a few tomorrow) in the hope that it helps. I have also reduced my caffine and upped my water intake.

knottyhohohohair · 02/01/2012 22:16

You sound very motivated McPie, good on you! Meant to say that the second strength circuit in Ripped in 30 is quite "easy" and I could do with heavier weights for that, but only that!

Jacksterbear · 03/01/2012 09:37

HNY everyone. Sounds like everyone is doing really well. Ripped in 30 sounds good but kind of feel like I ought to give 6W6P a proper go first (have done L1 a few times and that's it).

New Year status report: have gone up to 9st 0.5lbs, from 8st11.5 - 8st12.5. Not too bad, but have crossed the all-important 9st threshold that I want to be below, and more importantly feel a bit flabby/wobbly, so need to step up the exercise for a bit! And think I will also re-start MFP logging.

Do you 6W6P veterans think I need to master L1 properly (e.g. I struggle with the spider planks and the side plank knee raises) before moving onto L2 or is it worth just moving on anyway? L1 just feels a bit... nothing-y somehow, not that easy but not that hard and doesn't feel a very rounded workout.

notyummy · 03/01/2012 09:59

Re 6W6P. I dont think the spider planks are a major issue, however there are more of the 'side plank with leg' thingies in L2.....and you are already knackered as they are towards the end of the circuit! You could give it a try and see how you get on, but ideally having have strong transverse abs (think that is the right term but could be wrong....) is really helpful in L2.

Jacksterbear · 03/01/2012 10:34

Thanks notyummy, think I will give L1 another few goes and then move on to L2 and see how I get on.

BalloonSlayer · 03/01/2012 11:24

Jackster I never managed to do the side plant knee raises. My trainers are old and I do it in a carpeted room and my foot just slides away. I used to just do those side things from Shred Level 3 or some normal stomach crunches instead. It's never bothered me. That said, I couldn't get on with Level 2 of 6W6P at all. I only did it once. I found it too fast and too hard and it made me cry! Aaaah! Grin

Have done Shred Level 1 Day 7 - awful, felt knackered the whole way through. Only 3 more goes and I can go to Level 2 which, bizarrely, I find much easier.

McPie · 03/01/2012 11:44

Killer is a killer!
Had to have a little sit after each section but I managed to do almost all of the moves, plank to squat will probably never be acheived. I should have guessed it would be tough after being a bit puffed on finishing the warm up. I am going to do my Ripped L1 after lunch, if the power stays on with this wind.

knottyhohohohair · 03/01/2012 13:01

Thanks for the feedback McPie, I've only got as far as watching it!

Did Ripped in 30 again this morning - found it VERY hard to hold the hollow man for 30 seconds! Timed it as half an hour including the warm up but not the cool down. Will have to Shred tomorrow morning as I need to do it quickly before the school run.

Jacksterbear · 03/01/2012 15:48

L1 6W6P done; toyed briefly with the idea of attempting L2 but chickened out! Balloon yes I too find my feet slip, and that it's really hard to balance on the one leg, in those side thingys, although did them ok today.

Keep going with L1 shred Balloon only 3 more days!

notyummy · 03/01/2012 18:26

NMTZ done today with the usual mixture of 3 and 5kg. It felt harder than usual - NY blues perhaps?? Am thinking of trying BFBM tomorrow, as I haven't done it in ages and I don't fancy running in all this wind. Day off on Thursday as I am back to work for a looonnngg day (but only one day this week - hurray!) Will try and run on Friday. Feeling podgy, pre-menstrual and unhealthy at the moment. Scales say I am the same as ever - but it doesn't feel like it!

In a sick way I am quite looking forward to Killer Buns after Macpies feedback. Grin

threestepsforward · 03/01/2012 20:29

Evening all Smile

Day 2 of Ripped done! I can't possibly manage all the strength with 2.5 kg (especially circuit 3), but I have 5 more days left to manage it!

Balloon you are a crazy woman one-of-a-kind in preferring L2 Shred to the other levels Grin

Out of interest how long is Killer Buns?

Great going everyone with the NY Jillian'ing, running, pilates etc.

McPie · 03/01/2012 21:09

Killer buns is around the 40 min mark threestepsforward.

threestepsforward · 04/01/2012 09:27

Thanks Mcpie, think I will get that for after I've finished this month of Ripped in 30...

knottyhohohohair · 04/01/2012 10:54

notyummy, hope you're feeling better today. I'm also weirdly looking forward to giving Killer Buns a go. Might do it on Friday. I'm not going to do Ripped in 30 exclusively for 30 days, going to just mix it in with the others I think. Did L3 Shred this morning at 7.30 - that woke me up! Rest day tomorrow. Balloon, keep going, you weird L2 lover Grin!

notyummy · 04/01/2012 15:50

L3 at 0730 - hard core Smile. I don't think I have attempted to do anything Jillian related before 745 in case I just keel over! My thighs are still feeling my efforts in NMTZ yesterday. Did 20 minutes on the crosstrainer followed by a 40 minute Matt Roberts workout today. He has a good book called 'Fit for your Shape' that has a few challenging workouts in. Kind of Jillian-esque but slightly easier. I used to do them a lot before I discovered her! It is good to change things every so often though - and I did 80 walking lunges in total in the course of it, so was not phoning it in Grin.

ThePaxton · 05/01/2012 11:13

Well day 1 Ripped in 30 done! Wasn't too bad, but I stuck with 1kg weights and I hated the cardio, but thats because I've done no exercise since the week before Christmas. That will get better in a few days. Still can't do push ups and that 'fast feet' makes me feel ridiculous, I'm wobbling all over the place. Smile Feel great now though.

threestepsforward · 05/01/2012 12:56

Oh my god notyummy, 80 walking lunges is most definitely not phoning it in!!

Well done thePaxton! Ripped in 30 has 'fast feet' too, it's really hard to get my feet to move fast enough. I find it's the strength stuff that wipes me out far more than the cardio, I continue to be a literal 'lightweight'! I can manage 2.5 kg on level 1 apart from the flies in the chair pose and the lunge one after that - I have to drop down to 1.5 kg for those.

Jillian says something in the warm down along the lines of 'most people don't realise they are an egg'. I'm sure she doesn't, but after doing it 4 times, I still haven't worked out what it is she says, no doubt an Americanism I haven't heard of despite being half american

Hope everyone is having a good day Smile
