Totally agree knotty, it's a miracle to squeeze any exercise in at this time of year! Well done for doing a Shred this morning. I would have had time too were it not for the fact I am very hungover (fenvy)

threestepsforward · 17/12/2011 11:00

he he that didn't work...try again....

Hellooooooo !!! Grin

Anyone remember me?

I was on the original thread, and I came on to Mumsnet this morning to start a thread called "Re-starting 30 Day Shred" and saw that the ole thread was still going.

So I thought I'd re-join instead.

I was doing really well, shredding or 6W6P-ing 3-4 times a week, then I got a new job which cut it down to about 3, then I redecorated DD's bedroom, which meant I didn't have time to do much exercise, then I hurt my back, and THEN there was Christmas shopping which seemed to take up all the time I used to do my shredding in. So all in all my exercising had dwindled to nothing. I haven't put any weight back on but I don't want to lose my improved shape, so I thought: Right. Start again. From the beginning.

I didn't want to wait till January as that's such a cliche . . . Hmm

So this morning - Day 1 - DONE!

< groans >

< bloody hell >

< basks in glow of having actually done something >

Jacksterbear · 19/12/2011 09:21

Hey Balloonslayer welcome back and well done for getting back on it! Bet it feels good to re-discover that aching feeling Xmas Grin.

Will try to fit something in later after xmas shopping hell...

threestepsforward · 19/12/2011 12:17

Good luck with the christmas shopping Jacksterbear

Hello Balloonslayer Smile
Well done on getting back into it! I've recently done similar to you and went back and did Shred from the beginning and it's had a positive effect. I upped the weights where I could and boy it felt as bloody hard challenging as it did first time round!

I'm going to do as much as I can over the Christmas period, which won't be much, but I'm really marking time until Ripped in 30 drops through the door Grin

Hope everyone has a good and not too stressful week Smile

notyummy · 19/12/2011 19:53

Good to see you back Balloon!

DH and I double shredded yesterday, and I managed a run on Saturday morning after nearly a whole day in the pub on Friuday Blush. I hate to think how many G and slimline Ts I put away.....

Nothing today due to work, but L2 of 6w6p tomorrow.

Am eating mince pies but determined to burn them off Grin.

knottyhohohohair · 20/12/2011 06:09

Hi Balloonslayer ! Good on you for re-starting the Shred! I managed a L1 6W6P yesterday but similar to notyummy, then ate a slice of pork & cranberry pie, drank some mulled cider, followed by shepherd's pie for dinner Blush. Twas nice though Xmas Smile. Can't do any Jillian today (early docs appointment then last trip to town) but will walk into town. Nothing tomorrow either but if I'm not too hungover on Thursday, I may do 4 circuits of BFBM. Threesteps, I also can't wait for Ripped in 30!

MadameCastafiore · 20/12/2011 06:12

I have to tart shredding again soon - am getting wobbbly.

Just popped in guys to say I have Ripped in 30 and it works on our bluray player thingy!

knottyhohohohair · 20/12/2011 08:06

Xmas Grin at you "tarting" Shredding Madame - does that involve pimping Jillian out? Have you tried/watched Ripped in 30 yet??

threestepsforward · 20/12/2011 10:06

You can pimp Jillian out to me, I love her Grin

Oo yes Madame, have you tried Ripped in 30 yet?

knotty I am currently working my way through a panetone (sp?) someone brought round. It's not really cake as it's so airy, which means (in my mind) I can eat 3 times as much! It's a difficult job, but someone has got to do it or it will go off

Have good days all Smile

BalloonSlayer · 20/12/2011 11:18

Hi again!

Thanks for all the Welcome Backs! Grin

Day 2 Level 1 Com. Pleted.

< sigh >

I STILL think that the first two parts of Level 1 are the hardest in the whole Shred Confused . . . at least now I know once those are done I'm pedalling downhill in comparison.

And on the plus side, I had been doing 6W6P for so long though that the Shred feels fabulously short!

lizardqueenie · 20/12/2011 14:50

Hello - may I join you lovely ladies?
Have been on the shred threads a couple of time before but not really stuck it out- ballonslayer I remember you too!

I started shredding again yesterday & honestly had to take 2 Nurofen last night as my knees were killing me! Seriously out of shape Blush & plan to do an hour of Davina this evening rather than back on shred otherwise I fear I might not be able to walk!

knottyhohohohair · 20/12/2011 15:25

Threesteps, well done for rescuing the poor panettone! We usually have it for Christmas breakfast (DP is half Italian), but unfortunately the one I bought appears to have been eaten by the fairies, ahem. I will attempt to buy another tomorrow when I brave the Waitrose stampede. Hi lizardqueenie! I know how you feel, I did NMTZ and then a Shred the following day and could barely squat low enough to sit on the loo!

BalloonSlayer · 21/12/2011 09:08

Hello lizardqueenie Grin

I am just starting to get the aches and pains back now (Day 3 Level 1 done, yay!!) but not too bad YET. As knottyhair says, I remember getting up in the night to go to the loo and being in agony just sitting down on it. I am hoping it won't get this bad this time.

notyummy · 21/12/2011 09:35

Come on Lizard - you can do it!!

L2 6W6P last night, which was hard work but not as bad as I remember it from a few weeks ago. Out for a run today, and NMTZ tomorrow.

threestepsforward · 21/12/2011 12:49

Hello Lizardqueenie Smile Hope the aches and pains have subsided a bit! Well done on getting back into it...

Just a quick check-in to say goodbye as I'm away this afternoon until after Christmas. I can safely say Jillian will not be part of the festivities, but I am looking forward to getting stuck back in in the New Year!

Hope everyone has a really great Christmas Smile

bye bye for now
Threesteps x

lizardqueenie · 21/12/2011 17:50

hi everyone & thanks for your welcome and encouragement :). The aches subsided enough to give it another go today and I gave it my all but was a lot more careful and not feeling too bad now.

Wondered if anyone else started off (or restarted) doing every other day rather than every day? Im going to be joining a gym soon, so hope to mix it up with swimming and classes and actually really looking forward to it. Home with my DD FT at the moment which I am enjoying but am also relishing the thought of swimming alone, letting my mind wander & having some time to myself.

Jacksterbear · 22/12/2011 12:33

Just back from a dismally-paced jog run. Not normally my thing, running, but the beautiful sunshine enticed me out. Disaster. 10/15mins in (after a big uphill bit) got the most awful stitch, carried on for about 5 more mins then had to stop in agony, stretched for a couple of mins then re-started, the stitch died down on one side then started on the other so limped home almost doubled over!! How pathetic! Any advice from you seasoned runners on how to avoid/cope (other than not running, that is Xmas Grin)?

lizard, I did the shred in 30 days straight to start with but now do it/other exercise about 3 times a week as that's all I can fit in. I don't think you have to do it every day for it to be really beneficial! But on the other hand if you do do it every day the aches do subside hugely after about day 3.

Jacksterbear · 22/12/2011 12:39

That last bit wasn't very well explained - I meant that it's worth pushing on through the pain and doing it every day because the aching will go away!

knottyhohohohair · 22/12/2011 12:48

Ugh. Wanted to do Jillian this morning but although the heart was willing.... Cava, Kingfisher beer, tandoori prawns & Baileys last night means I didn't Blush. Tomorrow, back to normal.

Jacksterbear · 22/12/2011 12:54

knotty I feel your pain, was in same place myself yest after work drinks Tues night!

knottyhohohohair · 23/12/2011 09:26

That's better! 4 circuits of BFBM done, including horrible circuit 6. Planning on a L2 Shred tomorrow, then a 2 day break. Did actually contemplate doing a quick Shred on Christmas morning but the look on my DP's face ("are you completely MAD!") changed my mind. Better get on with booking tickets for Sherlock Holmes tonight so I can perve over RDJ.
Jackster, hope you get some advice about the running - I'm afraid I don't can't do running so am of no help whatsover!

notyummy · 23/12/2011 11:26

Knotty- glad you are feeling better! Dh and are off to see Sherlock tomorrow whilst my mum and dad make mince pies with Dd.

Am feeling well and truly worked out this week. 6w6p on Tuesday. 7 mile run on Wednesday. NMTZ yesterday and a double shred today. Going for a run tomorrow and having Christmas day off.

Jackster- The running takes a combination of persistence (going out 3 times a week at least , ideally, and just grimly plugging away at longer and longer distances- mixed up with efforts that will really make a difference to your aerobic endurance. You could try tabata sprints. Jog v gently for 5 mins to warm up. Then do 20 secs sprinting as fast as poss. 10 secs recovery whilst walking. Repeat 8 times. It doesn't sound much- but it is really tough. Very effective fat burner and improves endurance. You can download a tabata music session that times it all for you so you can stick it on an iPod and not need to faff around with watches etc.

ThePaxton · 23/12/2011 17:29

Haven't been on in a few weeks. Not been Jillianing but eagerly anticipating the new DVD's (sort of) Xmas Grin

So just dropping in to say a Merry Christmas to everyone and looking forward to spending more time on here, if not next week, then in the new year. xxx Xmas Smile
