Morning! And thanks to those who suggested adding them on MFP, sadly my mum is my 'friend' on there as she's also on a diet and if I suddenly get a load of mumsnet friends she'll start getting nosy and track me down on here - the horror Shock.

I weighed in this morning and I've lost 5lb this week, another Shock. Not quite sure how I've managed that but I do seem to lose big the first couple of weeks then slow right down. Total weight loss is now 7lb which I'm really chuffed with. Previous experience tells me that now I'm at 11 stone it'll come off a lot slower.

Anyone else weigh in this morning? And does anyone else measure themselves? If you do, how often do you do it? I measured myself last Thursday on the basis I'm more interested in dropping a dress size than reaching a particular weight.

BadBuddha · 16/01/2012 13:30

Afternoon all

I'm a Monday weigher LingDiLong (though a few people have suggested I should switch to Friday morning so that I have Monday-Friday to make up for any weekend naughtiness - Monday suits me tho') Well done on the 5lb loss BTW..

Have lost 2lb - very pleased with that... though I'm beginning to realize what a poor diet I have generally when I see it all down in black and white.
Oh well, the awareness is part of the battle I suppose. Now I need to work on doing more exercise

LingDiLong · 16/01/2012 13:54

Well done to you too, I always think 2lb is the perfect loss. I get impatient at 1lb but more than 2lb and I'm in danger of getting lulled into a false sense of security and reaching for the chocolate! Like you, I need to improve my diet a fair bit, I keep using up spare calories on junk instead of good stuff.

RGPargy · 16/01/2012 21:07

Well done on the 2lb off!!

My weigh day is Friday (i think) but i haven't weighed myself "officially" for so long that i've kind of lost track of my official weigh in day Blush

bexsybooboo · 16/01/2012 21:26

Well done to everyone on the weight losses Smile it's great to read and proper motivation for us Smile

Well done 3.5 miles tonight my god it was frickin freezing but done it. Out again Wednesday where I will work on speed rather than distance Smile

mrswoodentop · 16/01/2012 21:54

2.5 pounds offGrin!

bexsybooboo · 17/01/2012 06:46

Wow Mrswoodentop great loss, well done Smile

ditavonteesed · 17/01/2012 07:43

well done on all the losses everyone. I dont have an official weigh in day, I tend to weigh myself every couple of days. still feeling really good, had a bit of a naughty weekend but tracked everything and still managed to lose a pound. Smile I never get big losses and always get a bit defeated, but then even at a pund a week it gets there in the end.

GeekLove · 17/01/2012 13:09

Hoping that its true that bfing does slow weight loss
I'm ill again with a cold so have the day off. I'm trying to gently do some exercise on the wii and some housework. Got home and went to bed last night!
Time for weigh in today...

magentastardust · 17/01/2012 21:01

I lost 3lbs today Smile so now 8lbs lighter in total -long way to go but a positive start!
Taking a note of what I was actually shovelling in my mouth without realising has been an eye opener. I was doing a lot of snacking !

jchocchip · 17/01/2012 22:19

well done magenta :)

I've done quite well today and have't eaten many of my exercise cals but now I want a snack before bed. Aargh!

bucketbetty · 17/01/2012 22:58

I downloaded mfp today - I love it! I've eaten over 200 cals under my goal today so I think I may be making an error somewhere and how on earth can coffee take up so many calories? I downloaded it to my android and now I'm obsessed. Here's hoping I lose some bloody weight!

TheScarlettPimpernel · 18/01/2012 12:40

Hello! Can I please pop my head round the door for a minute? Blush

I am in my second week of MFPing and despite having stuck religiously to my 1200 cal limit, and done lots of walking, I have lost nada (1st week was 4lb off).

Now I know that this does happen - I lost 3.5 stone 3 years ago with SW - but I am having a wibble. I felt so confident that MFP would work (I have lost 10lb on it before in very short time and with ease) and I just can't for the life of me see what went wrong.

So I guess in a slightly childlike way I want to know if there's anyone here who has lost a significant amount - 2 stone at least - doing cal counting?

Thanks and sorry to butt in!

bucketbetty · 18/01/2012 18:01

Butt away, its an open forum. Ive only used NFL for a couple of days so I'm no expert. It sounds Luke you're doing all the right things. I would imagine calorie counting does the job but maybe its about what you're eating if what you ate was different from usual. Sorry, I'm a bit useless.

jchocchip · 18/01/2012 22:22

scarlett - just an idea, I've found that eating more fruit and veg and drinking more water really make a difference.

bexsybooboo · 19/01/2012 07:52

scarlett - I've lost 32ib and with another 32 to go so in for long haul.

This happened to me when I started MFP. What I did was when I exercised I ate some of my exercise calories as well as daily allowance, as you can stay the same weight if you also don't eat enough as you body will start using it's starvation fat to feed off if it thinks you are not eating enough.

I ensure I leave anything from 150-300 calories still in the green if I can. I also make sure I monitor my carbs and fat intake as I was only looking at the calorie column.

I also make sure I drink water first thing in the morning then throughout the day. Am sticking to my 3 meals per day and not eating after 7/8pm at night.

This is working for me I wouldn't guarantee for anyone else as are bodies are all so different Wink.

I do think my body went in to shock me introducing a healthy lifestyle and went on strike for 2-3 weeks that I didn't lose weight Grin at the beginning especially ith the exercise Grin

I would keep going this week with how you are doing it and if nothing happens again then look at possibly changing a few things as it could just be your body adjusting Smile

Good luck and hope it does come good for you which I reckon it will Smile

Well done to all that have had great losses this week Smile my weigh in is tomorrow so will be able to see the damage from my very very bad weekend last week Wink

TheScarlettPimpernel · 19/01/2012 08:28

Thanks so much jchochip and bexsy - and bexsy so many congrats on the loss, you must feel amazing :)

I'm finding it difficult to work out whether I should a) eat my exercise calories so I don't make my body panic, or b) leave 100-200 cals left over at the end of the day to make sure that I am erring on the side of caution. ARGH! The whole thing i loved about MFP was that it was the logic of cals in versus cals out, but i think there is more to it than that...

Thanks again: I am going to carry on as I am for another week and see what gives, and make sure i am eating lots of fresh fruit/veg and drinking litres of water...I might pop in again sometime!

Wifezilla · 19/01/2012 20:54

Hi everyone - I hope it's ok to crawl back after a few months of overindulgence and half a stone heavier?? I've kept up the exercise to a degree but my eating is out of control (again) and I'm gutted about the weight gain as I was starting to feel happy (almost) with my weight.
GeekLove - I have really struggled to lose weight, which I blamed partially on breastfeeding. DS2 is down to 1 feed a day now as I'm back at work, but I'm fairly sure my supply is dwindling and my breastfeeding days are limited (ds is 12 months). I will let you know if I find any difference once he stops completely - so far I haven't seen any!

Please feel free to "friend" me on mfp -my username is sloth45. I'd appreciate any kicks up the backside when I go on an eating rampage :0)

renaldo · 19/01/2012 21:23

bexsybooboo · 20/01/2012 07:04
