And need support

This was recommended by TheHumanCatapult and is www.foodfocus.co.uk. you start by registering your weight etc and tell it how much you want to lose. It then tells you when that will be achieved, which for me was some time in 2013 Shock. You then use it day by day to record all the food eaten, and all the exercise you have done. It is working for me so far (only day 5) because:

-Iget instant results (it tells you day by day how much it calculates you have lost, you won't see it on the scales)
-I see how much I am actually eating
-I'm in control. I can see the impact of whatever I am going to eat before I actually eat it which does help the willpower somewhat!
-It's FREE

Sorry to hear about DMIL FoundWanting. I would recommend waiting until the house is empty, close the curtains, grab some water (you'll need it!) and zumba. I haven't tried the games but try to go to one or two classes a week and it is the best thing to put a smile on your face.

SPB I encouraged and participated in the ordering and eating of a take away the other night only to be greeted the next morning by a telling off from DP for it. May I add he didn't complain whilst eating his! If I had to work that long I'd have been eating more than just a pizza. It's just one day, don't dwell on it :)

Keep going MABSyou can do it. Just think of that weekend away (which IIRC was what you were focusing on?)

StealthPolarBear · 31/08/2011 19:48

Oh FW I am so so sorry, what a shock :(

Diet has not been on for me for a while but I am determined to get back into it and will keep bumping this!

TarquinGyrfalcon · 31/08/2011 22:12

So sorry FW.

I've lost 2.25lb this week- I'm back in work next week so it will be a challenge to keep losing weight. While I've been on holiday I've had time to make sure we are eating healthy meals. During term time I'm far more likely to eat junk.

MABS · 01/09/2011 17:58

you arec right Whyistherum, girlie w/e in Dubai 21 Sept. Been good today with food, did hour pt and ran for 20 mins :)

WhyIsTheRumAlwaysGone · 01/09/2011 18:50

Well done on the exercise today MABS. Stay positive :)

Everyone seems to be going to Dubai, not that I'm Envy or anything Hmm

My cousin and her 'D'H to be are going to live out there once they are married. I WILL be going to visit. If he doesn't like it then that's his problem Grin

MABS · 01/09/2011 19:31

you should visit defo, I go out 2 or 3 times per year with dh, this is first time with girlies tho :)

WhyIsTheRumAlwaysGone · 01/09/2011 20:07

Oh wow am I in trouble! I'm going bridesmaid dress shopping in 10 days. Quick someone make me a size 10!

MABS · 02/09/2011 07:35

How much you got to lose now Whyistherumgone? Spanx?!!

WhyIsTheRumAlwaysGone · 02/09/2011 14:47

To get to goal weight I have stones to go but for the wedding I'd be happy with another 6 or 7lbs maybe.

MABS · 02/09/2011 15:55

you will do that no problem Rum, you are doing so well. I did hour spin today, i hurt :(

WhyIsTheRumAlwaysGone · 02/09/2011 17:01

Im not cut out for spinning. I went to a class once but gave up after 45mins and went for a lay down on the changing room bench Blush

MABS · 02/09/2011 19:24

in a weird way i like it!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 04/09/2011 07:19

Foundwanting - I am so sorry to hear about your DMIL, your poor DH Sad

Have been absent this week as have been on holiday in Blackpool and since Mumsnet haven't come up with an Android app, the threads take far too long to load on my phone for me to post!

DH and I carried on food logging on Sunday where we had Sunday lunch at PILs, on Wednesday when we went to an all you can eat pizza buffet at the Pleasure Beach and yesterday when we had tea at PILs - we were staying at their caravan so had to stop at theirs to pick up and drop keys.
We had far less treats (so no waffles/doughnuts/packets and packets of biscuits) like we used to do on holiday and did lots of walking. I actually reset my goal to lose 0.5lb this week as well so I could have more calories so we could have a few treats.
Anyway must have done well as I have lost a 1lb this week! First time ever i have been on holiday and not gained weight Shock

Hope everyone is well, Whyistherum - I would be with you in the bench after the spinning class Grin

MABS · 04/09/2011 10:09

well done kara!

FoundWanting · 04/09/2011 19:17

Thank you all for the kind messages.

Well done to those who are still losing - especially on holiday. Envy

Going to start again tomorrow with the calorie counting, and back doing the school run on Wednesday which should help.

Here's to a good week for all of us. Wine

TarquinGyrfalcon · 04/09/2011 20:52

I've lost 1.75lb this week.

Back to work tomorrow - I' was trying to plan meals for the week so I wouldn't give in to a takeaway but I've only got as far as Wednesday

Do any of you take a packed lunch to work, and if so have you got any inspired ideas?

WhyIsTheRumAlwaysGone · 04/09/2011 21:51

Well done Kara on losing on holiday Envy

I'm also interested in ideas for a packed lunch although thankfully I only need ideas for two days maybe 3 (I finish at lunchtime on the 3rd day). Going to try and force myself to take something with me for lunch as on 1/2 days I have asda over the road and the other day I have m&s, subway, kfc and a pizza place all of which can be seen through the window. Some days its just too tempting!!

MABS · 05/09/2011 07:27

i lost nothing :( not a surprise

FoundWanting · 05/09/2011 08:56

Good morning, everyone. Right, new week and ready for a fresh start.

Weighed myself this morning, and amazingly have stayed the same for the last two weeks. Very happy with that given that we have been reaching for the comfort food (and drink).

I have now got seven weeks to go until DSis' wedding. I think I'd be ok with half a stone off, but more would be better if I can manage it. Smile

DD is nagging me to have a go at Zumba Will post later if I survive!

PinkCustard · 05/09/2011 08:57

Hello All - hoping I can join you? I'm returning to FF after a bit of an absence...have spent the past few days looking into Dukan but then came to my senses and realised I'd soon miss carbs/fruit/veg too much so went back to FF yesterday.

I don't have lots to lose, but I've moaned about the same 10lbs of tummy flubber for years so am determined to shake it off once and for all.

My latest fave diet treat is Del Monte smoothie ice-lollies - they're virtually fat-free and have only 86 cals, and they're really delicious and take a while to eat too. They had them on offer recently in Morrisons (pack of 3 for £1) so I stocked up!

I'm also finding it better to make our evening meal from scratch (entering the ingredients into the meal maker bit of FF) as previously I've tried to stick to things that I knew the calorie count of but soon ran out of good meals.

Whyis I try to save a portion of the previous night's meal to take into work for a packed lunch the next day to avoid eating sandwiches. I also make soups and freeze them into portions so am going to take some of those in too. I only work 2 days though so I only have to think of 2 days worth of lunches - and of course these suggestions rely on you having access to a microwave.

Anyway, you all seem to be doing really well on here and I'm hoping it will keep me motivated as I often start out really keen but then convince myself that I'm not that bad anyway and it's not worth all the effort - not this time though!! (hopefully...)

Also, I have 30 Day Shred - I go through phases of doing it regularly but then something makes me stop and I don't re-start. Will dig it out though as I think exercise will make a big difference.

Oops sorry for super-long ramble Blush

MABS · 05/09/2011 12:55

please do join us :) I off to Zumba in minute first time, will let you know later waht i thought!

MABS · 05/09/2011 21:35

loved Zumba, but i was pretty crap!

WhyIsTheRumAlwaysGone · 05/09/2011 22:22

Welcome to our little world Pink! Hopefully we can keep you motivated and you can help us too. We all seem to have a habit of slacking off now and then but make up for it the rest of the time (life is too short to diet 24/7 right?)

Good idea about saving leftovers for lunch. Unfortunately DP doesn't seem to know the meaning of 'don't eat that i'm saving it'. Also as I am going back to college this year I have no access to microwave or fridge or anything. Could possibly take soup and keep it in a flask in my locker or car til lunch time tho, could be good in winter.

I'm also considering making a packed lunch on a night ready for the next day even when I am going to be at home as I find myself feeding DS but then grabbing something quick and trying to remember later what I had so I can log it. At least then I know already that there is something ready for me to eat and I can just grab it without having to start adding things up and guessing what I'm eating!

MABS I'm so glad you liked zumba, welcome to the club. No one other than my aunty who comes with me seems to understand why I like it. Even my friend who has been with me on occasion doesn't really seem to enjoy it. Was there anyone who seemed to take it/themselves really seriously?

Good luck for this week everyone. I'm getting weighed on wednesday as usual as I like to think I'm individual my cousin gets married on a wednesday. Oh update on the dress shopping by the way, it would seem I am expected to wear fuchia ShockHmmConfused

StealthPolarBear · 05/09/2011 22:28

I am back!! Have been hiding from you lot for a while as I have been stuffing my face :(
Just weighed myself, and am back where I was on 23rd of August, weight has been down and up again since then. Right, diet starts again tomorrow, it really does.

These are my reasons:

  • Health, worry about having a minor/major health scare in 10 years. Heart, joints, diabetes
  • Wedding in October, I promised myself I would
  • I can never find anyhing nice to wear, everything is a compromise
  • I have a wardrobe full of clothes I never wear but won't throw out because I'll be that size again soon
  • When I walk my thighs rub together at the top, so every pair of trousers quickly goes bobbly at the top
  • At this size I don't feel 'normal', I feel like an outsider somehow
  • I worry I sweat and smell more at this size (this is not something I have noticed in others, but am paranoid about it in me)
  • I sat on a garden chair at mum and dad's last summer and broke it
  • I now hve to consider whether something will take my weight before I sit down
  • I generally feel as though I am a successful person and can do what I put my mind to - this makes me feel like a failure
  • I am in denial about how I look. I don't have low self esteem, in general I have high self esteem. This causes me to overlook how I really look and am.
  • DH is worried about me - I can see that he is trying to tell me I am too fat for my own good without offending me
  • A frivolous one - you know those tacky tasteful sorts of events where youre getting a matching group top (think hen nights). And you get asked what size you are. Or worse, Are you S,M,L and you say L cringeing at the thought you'll probably still not squeeze into it
OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 05/09/2011 22:29

plus 2 new ones
We've just been away. They had huge mirrors everywhere. Not a pretty sight.
I no longer fit into my size 18 swimming costume :( Well I did, but felt as though I was being sliced by a cheese slicer :o
