And need support

This was recommended by TheHumanCatapult and is www.foodfocus.co.uk. you start by registering your weight etc and tell it how much you want to lose. It then tells you when that will be achieved, which for me was some time in 2013 Shock. You then use it day by day to record all the food eaten, and all the exercise you have done. It is working for me so far (only day 5) because:

-Iget instant results (it tells you day by day how much it calculates you have lost, you won't see it on the scales)
-I see how much I am actually eating
-I'm in control. I can see the impact of whatever I am going to eat before I actually eat it which does help the willpower somewhat!
-It's FREE

Thank you everyone for your kind words yesterday. I would normally have used one bad day as a reason to ditch the diet altogether, but I have started afresh today and stuck to my calorie limit.

MIL is doing well and, according to DH, enjoying the rest. (If I had to care for FIL he would have been smothered with a pillow years ago.) She's got to stay in for a few days because she has a weird/rare blood condition and her specialist wants to monitor her.

Hope everyone is feeling good today.

TarquinGyrfalcon · 22/08/2011 19:42

Well done FW - I know what you mean about giving up after one bad day.

I'm glad to hear MIL is doing well.

I'm back on track (although I have defected to the myfitnesspal site as it is much easier to use).

I'm a bit worried about when I go back to work (teacher) as it has been easy to plan sensible meals during the holidays. I'm going to have to be super efficient and mealplan.

MABS · 22/08/2011 20:03

so glad MIL is doing well

WhyIsTheRumAlwaysGone · 22/08/2011 22:30

Sorry to hear about MIL and glad she is recovering welll.

Well done on not giving up after one bad day, this is something I am also guilty of, and getting back on it today.

Has anyone lost more than their weekly goal and had their calorie allowance increased?

If so did you stick to your old allowance or eat the extra calories, also do you eat any extra ones you get from exercise?

Most importantly whatever you did/do does it make a difference to your weight loss?

MABS · 23/08/2011 18:40

i interested in the answer to that question too

KaraStarbuckThrace · 23/08/2011 20:16

I lost more than my weekly goal and I readjusted my calorie intake, but my weight loss slowed down so adjusted it back again. I think though it was more to do with having a more sedentary week last week.
And I do eat my exercise calories, though I usually find I am under my calorie goal by about 50-60 cals per day.

StealthPolarBear · 23/08/2011 20:20

I lose over fairly often (won;t this week mind, in fact I'll be lucky if I haven't put the whole stone and a half back on Confused)
It did adjust my cals once, which I asked about, but then it adjusted them down again to what they were, without me doing anything. Don't really understand what was going on there. I'd carry on eating my old cals - if I lose more I dont want it adjustng for me!

I haven't lost more than my weekly goal. I have been eating some of my exercise calories - I wish I had the will power to not log the exercise but I need the extra food

WhyIsTheRumAlwaysGone · 24/08/2011 15:38

The scales say I've lost 7lbs. That can't be right, can it?

StealthPolarBear · 24/08/2011 17:44

oh yes it can :) I have previously lost 6lb in a week. Well done :)

TarquinGyrfalcon · 24/08/2011 18:02

Wow - well done. You must have been really focused this week.

WhyIsTheRumAlwaysGone · 24/08/2011 18:12

Thank you SPB. Been trying not to get too excited as I thought if I had been sticking to my calorie allowance then there was no way I could have lost 5lbs more than my goal.

Looking at this week I am now wondering what I have been doing for the past month. Eating minimal carbs obviously works for me :) but oh how I miss toast!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 25/08/2011 22:26

Why - woohoo"!! That is fab!

I am really struggling this week...

StealthPolarBear · 25/08/2011 22:29

me too Kara :( went to see some friends on Saturday and got quite drunk and ate lots (but also walked for 2hrs in the Dales!) and couldn't be bothered to do my food diary. No problem...had a day off. Then a day off turned into 2, 3, and a couple of half hearted days. Once I lose motivation I find it so difficult to get back. I am back on now, but before I used to have such willpower and eat well under my calories, now I'm doig wll to be only a bit ovr. Never mind...the beauty of it is you can pick it up at any point

KaraStarbuckThrace · 26/08/2011 21:09

SPB that's right you just have to resign yourself to the fact you have delayed your weight loss a few days. I now feel I am back on track after a dodgy couple of days, though although I went over the allowed calories I was still under the calories burnt - and I did log everything.
I still get the urge sometimes to think "oh screw it" and eat and eat until I am sick, I really hope this feeling goes away and never comes back!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 27/08/2011 07:43

Well despite my wobbles I still managed to lose 1.6lbs this week. That is good as I was worried that I had stuck again.
We're off to Blackpool for a week tomorrow, but DH and I are going to continue food logging, but not worry about not losing any weight - we are happy to maintain so we can have a few extra treats while we are on holiday.
But we are staying well away from the fresh doughnuts! TBH we have the kids with us and we tend to indulge more when they aren't. Last year, PILs looked after DS while DH and I went to Blackpool Pleasure beach, and we had doughnuts and waffles (not at the same time) we certainly wouldn't this time as DS doesn't like either and DSS would want them and he could also do with losing a bit weight.
Both the boys love icecream though so we will definitely be getting them ice cream, but the thing is, I prefer a nice fruit lolly and they tend to be lower in calories.

MABS · 29/08/2011 19:34

well done Kara, i am still not doing well :(

WhyIsTheRumAlwaysGone · 31/08/2011 12:29

We all seem to have gone a bit quiet. Is it because we are busy logging those calories and melting away those pounds with some exercise? Or like me have you had a bad week and so are hiding away in hope the world wont notice?

I have had an ok week I suppose. Despite being lazy and not focusing this week by some miracle I have managed to maintain this week.

I've also dared to look at my target date and discovered it is in april 2012 (closer than I thought).

So are we all slowly but surely getting closer to our targets or is that date getting further and further away?

MABS · 31/08/2011 14:58

further and further for me :(

StealthPolarBear · 31/08/2011 16:00

I had a huge pizza last night if that answers your question?
I was at work until after 8pm (from 8.30 am) so went a bit overboard in the "you deserve it" stakes

Dreadful week here. Complete carb overload.

DMIL died last Tuesday, after seeming to rally the day before. It was a huge shock. Funeral is tomorrow. Sad

However, my sister is still getting married at the end of October and I will get back in the zone. Hoping to make a new start Monday, or at the latest Wednesday when DCs go back to school.

DH has been using shopping as his displacement activity of choice - normally he won't go near a shop. He bought wii Zumba. Confused DD has had a go, but I think I'll have to wait until there's no-one else in the house.

MABS · 31/08/2011 16:35

so sorry Foundawanting x
