well done on losses blondes and bartlet
blondes If you have the time you could make quite a difference to your shape in two weeks by doing the shred every day, and make sure you drink enough water to flush everything out Smile

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/07/2011 11:29

i have the shred - just havnt done it for ages Blush

Collision · 17/07/2011 11:46

Vanimal - what sort of things are you eating? Give me a typical day of food and we can judge look at it.

JennyPiccolo · 17/07/2011 11:49

lost 6lbs this morning! I'm so pleased. Think i must've been hoarding water weight last week

Well done Blondes! i'm glad someone else weighs in on a sunday, good for the moral support.

vnmum · 17/07/2011 13:06

wow, good loss jenny

JoJoBaldwin · 17/07/2011 15:48

Fabulous loss Jenny well done!

Do you have lovely smug leg-ache fairenhuff?

Finally over cold today and looking forward to a week where I will have the energy to work out and track properly. I bought some psyllium husk today too, should encourage a clear-out, and I seem to remember from years ago when I took it that it was a bit of an appetite suppressant so worth taking for a couple of weeks and seeing if it has the same effect!

Done mega-shop in Sainsburies and have a fully-stocked fridge freezer with lots of healthy things and tons of veg. Now to make sure I don't eat it all at once!

JoJoBaldwin · 17/07/2011 15:51

lol @ Blondes camel toe. I took a pair of white linen trousers with me on holiday which fitted perfectly the day I was packing. Didn't get chance to wear them until last day of the holiday and ...... you've guessed it - all the wine came back to haunt me with serious muffin top and said camel toe. So annoying!

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/07/2011 16:03

well done jenny - fab weight loss!!

spudulika · 17/07/2011 21:51

Hi all, can I join this thread? Just started ww this week - today was day 4 and I'll be weighing in for the first time. Already getting anxious that it's not going to work - I've never dieted properly before ( except a couple of weeks of pig to twig which made me feel ill).

I've been very strict with myself so far. Can't believe how teeny tiny the portions are or how many points anything containing with fat in it have.

But maybe it's because Im a bit of a piggy wiggy who loves fried food. Shock

Have got 2 and a half stone to lose.

All beginners tips gladly received!

spudulika · 17/07/2011 21:54

Yikes - sorry terrible grammar. Am typing on phone.

JoJoBaldwin · 17/07/2011 22:17

Welcome spudulika, fry-lite is your friend if you like fried stuff :-)

froot · 17/07/2011 22:40

Well I am off on hols next week too hmc what are you doing for yours ? I am planning on lots of stair climbing to try and counteract almost inevitable mega weight gain from cruise ship yummy food ! Luckily I have the advantage of being in the cheapest cabin in the bowels of the ship so many many steps to climb .

My body has been a temple for past week have been sticking to around 29 Pp by having egg White ommelette and ketchup for breakfast, salad baby toms and cottage cheese of various flavours for lunch, ww yogs, and various veg soups for tea . Plus a bit of gin n slim and of course lindt sea salt chocolate as needed. And grapefruit juice plus lots fruit. Seems to be doing the trick for a pre holiday blast . And shred every other day .Need to lose 1.5 lb this week to meet my summer challenge which I think (can't quite remember!)

froot · 17/07/2011 22:47

Welcome spud . There is a help list - am on phone so can't do link but if you google :

"weightwatchers propoints survival guide" mumsnet

With the inverted commas it should come up near top . Scroll down thread and you will find some handy tips - hope they help !!

HattiFattner · 18/07/2011 11:31

stayed the same this week - not surprised as mega BBQ on friday night and wedding on Saturday when FAR too much wine was consumed!! So happy with the result and Must Try Harder this week.

spudulika · 18/07/2011 14:51

Just been approached in the street by elderly neighbour who sad 'hope you don't mind me saying but you really don't want to put on any more weight' . Followed by her telling me that she'd done ww, lost 5lbs in the first week but then nothing more, despite her best efforts.

Sad

Jeeze

What is it with some people?

Whitershadeofpale · 18/07/2011 16:27

That's horrible spud I always remember going to a family party and having agreat time. Later on when dropping my Nan home she decided to tell me that I'd put on lots of weight and everyone had been talking about it all night. These things really stay with you and far from inspiring me make me want to hide under the duvet with a big bar of chocolate.

My advice would be that until you're really ready to change then you won't. I've tried to loose weight before because I felt like I ought to of felt that everyone else was looking down at me but I'd never suceeded until I was ready to change for me. Now I'm ready and know I can do it.

spudulika · 18/07/2011 16:42

Oh I'm ready!

I'm 45 and up to 2 years ago had never been bigger than a size 12.

I bloody hate being fat. Angry

Fairenuff · 18/07/2011 17:13

Hi spudulika I hate being fat too. What a thoughtless comment from your neighbour Shock !! Some people are so rude.

A good starting tip is to make a chart and record your weight loss/gain each week because sometimes over a short period you can stay the same or even gain a little even when you are doing everything right and it can be disheartening.

This always used to make me 'give up' but now I put it on the chart and I can see the big picture. It's a little like two steps forward, one step back. If you keep chipping away it will work.

I've been doing OK so far this week but have now got a rotten cold so really don't feel like exercising. Going to have some vegetable soup and an early night instead.

NorkyButNice · 18/07/2011 21:57

Well done Jenny on awesome weight loss! I look back longingly to the first time I ever joined WW when I lost 11.5lb in the first week! I was v overweight and had been living on ready meals and wine so my body must have gone into some kind of shock being given fruit, vegetables and water. That and having a 20 year old's metabolism!

I've been entertaining the in-laws this weekend and it was my littlest's first birthday so I've used my weeklies for the first time on birthday cake, a takeaway and more wine than usual.

If I STS I'll be happy as I don't plan to eat like this every week!

spud I can't believe that anyone could be so rude - how dare she? I worry that people talk about me behind my back but we shouldn't have to put up with it.

SummerLeaps · 19/07/2011 09:29

people are terribly rude spud. Weight is something so personal, and when people comment it makes you feel like your only value as a person is tied up with your weight. I dislike that very much. I do not like people commenting I have lost weight either though- it implies that somehow i was disapproved of before, if you know what mean.

On another note- i got my WW monthly pass membership card in the mail. I was utterly mortified- it comes in a weightwatchers branded envelope. WW is a secret for me, it is something deeply private and I feel very embarrassed that now our house guests know, and the postperson, and anyone else who happens to see the mail on the communal hall floor.

vnmum · 19/07/2011 10:11

hi all, spud it is horrible how people can make you feel about your weight with their comments but it seems that people think it is ok to comment on someones weight but they wouldn't dream of commenting on a disability for example, if you get what i mean.

I have just discovered low fat houmus (tesco) and it is only 3pp for 50g, so with carrot sticks is a great snack that is much more filling than a chocoltae biscuit for the same points

hmc · 19/07/2011 10:27

Well done to blondes, JennyP, Bartlett and Monahue on losses, and commiserations on your gain vanimal - wonder what is going on there? - have you discussed it with your leader? (do you go to classes?). Oh and Blondes - since you have Shred definitely do the dvd over the next fortnight to tone up, you might enjoy the endorphins too!

Spud - re the portion sizes seeming small...initially they do but it is suprising how quickly they seem fine and you adjust and are satisfied with them. You also learn how to eek your points out for going for lower fat / lower carb stuff

Froot - we are off to Costa Rica. Looking forward to it but not the travelling since there is no direct flight from London, we have to go via Miami. Where will you cruise be taking you?

Well go off on holiday as of tomorrow evening so I might not get back on the thread before I go.....a little nervous that not only will I have 12 days eating out on holiday but when I return, due to my kitchen renovation I will have a further 14 days of eating out Shock - it is going to be one heck of a challenge to remain at goal!

JoJoBaldwin · 19/07/2011 11:24

Very jealous of froot and hmc*, have a truly fab holiday both of you.

Spud How unbelievably f*ing rude of your neighbour! People are so horrible. Can't believe she said "I hope you don't mind me saying" before insulting you. God I just hate it when people comment on weight like that, as if you haven't noticed the weight-gain yourself and they feel duty-bound to tell you.

Grrrrrrr, I'm so cross for you!

About the portion sizes too - well they will be for fried food if that's what you really like. The trick is to start making "fried" food as healthy as possible. I had 2 fried eggs, butternut squash chips and loads of fried mushrooms this morning - a big plate of food for 4pp because I used frylight instead of oil.
If you like chips it is worth trying butternut squash chips (again using frylight) as these are 0pp!

Also try having a large amount of salad with most meals - I'm trying to have at least half my plate full of salad and veg and then add what I really feel like (pasta or fish etc). That way you have a nice big plate to eat but the majority is low point value.

JoJoBaldwin · 19/07/2011 11:30

Oh, and happy to report that I finally weighed myself this morning (though on the wii fit rather than Boots as it's still raining).

Wii fit said I had gained one pound since my last WI which was a week before my holiday - so am very pleased that the gain is not as catastrophic as I thought. Feel much brighter today as a result!

Agree with Fairenuff about having some sort of chart of progress. I just had a look at my wii fit chart and it's good to see a general downward trend even though there are the odd hiccups! My heaviest a year ago was 13st 8lb and now the wii reports 12st 2lb. So it's slow-going but a good reminder that things could be a lot worse.

Will I ever break that pesky 12st barrier though?!!

hmc · 19/07/2011 13:29

You'll break that 12 stone barrier soon JoJo - glad it was only a teeny tiny 1lb gain after your holiday, well done.

Am famished atm - ate lunch at 11.20 (well I have been up since 5 a.m.). Pondering whether I should eat something - already used quite a few pps!
