hello!

haven't weighed myself yet but will do soon

I'm not expecting anything special although I have been good.

I've had another good day today, handed out pringles and only nicked 4 1 or 2 - Which in itself deserves 1/2 stone loss!

very well done smalline for getting so low in numbers. and tortoise excellent job in staying on track.

here's hoping for another good week for all Smile

and who turned the sunshine off?

Tortoise · 07/05/2011 22:17

Why are evenings so hard?
Just had another Snickers flapjack and 2 mint choc bars.Sad

Can I join in?

I'm 40 in March and decided a couple of weeks ago that I was going to slim and fabulous at 40.

This means losing 2st 9lbs ideally, which is less than 4lbs per month. Weighed in today at 12st 9lbs.

However, because it's such a long way off I can't get motivated. So I think I need to have a hellish 3 months to get the weight off then just stop myself putting it back on again. This will also mean I'm slimmer for summer.

So, starting tomorrow, I'm cutting down and exercising more. I have the Shred DVD so I'm going to get up half an hour earlier and do that every morning. Might also try to run/cycle every day too.

Tortoise · 07/05/2011 22:49

you are welcome to join us Marion. I think we are all aiming for 12st as a target at the moment which should work well for you too. Race you! Grin

That's a good challenge, 12st is definitely within sight. Race on!

Furball · 08/05/2011 13:10

Hello and welcome marion -

I will say tortoise you need to join me on the pringles high blood pressure diet. I'm 12st 6 this morning. Crikes knows how that happened, but I'm not moaning Grin

Tortoise · 08/05/2011 22:16

That's good furball.Smile
I would say I have been pretty good today. Dinner was probably bigger portion than I should have but it was yummy! Cottage pie.
Barely sat down all day which is good. Been to a duck race for school and been painting. Just sat down!

I know you've been good tortoise but I haven't as in the pringles, so hence my jest.

Shepherds pie sounds good. My ds is turned into a right ole fuss pot and won't eat that anymore or spag bol and now he's umm and arring about chilli. [i give up] emoticon. He doesn't like sausages and thats now gone onto my lovely homemade pork burgers.........

MarionCole · 09/05/2011 08:39

1,007 calories yesterday which is fine - trying to keep within 1,000 but I did go for a stumble run. Decided to start couch to 5k again. I got up early to do Shred but DH decided to get up too and I'm too embarrassed to do it when he's around! 'Mummy Day' with DS today so not sure I'll get much chance for exercise.

Stomach not feeling up to breakfast so just had a cup of tea.

Smalline · 09/05/2011 10:21

Hello Ladies, welcome Marion it's nice to have you on board, you are being very sensible aiming for 1lb a week, but I think 1000 calories is a bit low, especially at the beginning, if I were you I would start at say 1500 (that is a good 300-500 per day less than you should be having), then when the weight loss starts levelling off then cut down by say 100-150, if you start off too low your body goes into starvation mode and will become very efficient at holding onto the fat, I also find that having 1 day off a week were I eat anything I want works for me, it boosts the metabolism which helps to burn off the fat. Have you heard of Foodfocus? it is a free website (foodfocus.co.uk) where you enter your height, weight, how much you want to lose each week, it will then work out for you how many calories you should be consuming each day to achieve your goal, you can also log the food you eat, and see how many calories you are actually eating each day, try it it's very handy.

Breakfast : porridge with hemp seeds and raisins, 1 cup green tea

Hope everyone is having a good day so farSmile

Smalline · 09/05/2011 17:14

Lunch today was homemade guacamole on ryvitas, apricot yogurt.

snacks
2 teaspoons peanut butter,
grapes & a pear

Dinner will be pasta with mackeral.

I have a 90min fit2fite class tonight which burns approx 800 calories per hour

I'll treat myself to a large glass of Wine after thatGrin.

MarionCole · 09/05/2011 18:09

I know what you mean Smalline, it's just that last time I lost a couple of stone (pre children) this is the way I did it. I find that limiting myself to 1,200 calories (plus say 200-300 cals burned in exercise) works. I do tend to let myself relax a bit at the weekend, it's hard cutting down when everyone around you is eating crisps and chocolate! I'm also trying not to restrict what I can eat, just how much. Saying that, we have had vegetable tagine for tea which I have stuffed myself with because there are bugger all calories in it.

MarionCole · 09/05/2011 18:12

Will look at Foodfocus. I was using Boots Diets website, which is good, but I can't see the point in paying. I'm using a iPhone app which seems OK, but I will look at Foodfucus. Thanks.

MarionCole · 09/05/2011 20:29

Am liking foodfocus, it's just like Boots diets but free :)

Tortoise · 09/05/2011 20:38

Arrrgghhh! I was doing so well then had a snack attack Sad. I have been trying to look at calories today and was on about 1300 then ate kinder bueno, crisps and yog. Hopefully not taken me too far over 1500 cals.

OP posts:
MarionCole · 09/05/2011 21:02

I've just eaten approx 300 cals worth of chocolate cake. It was fresh from the oven. But now I feel ill.

MarionCole · 11/05/2011 08:11

Yay 12st 5lbs

Furball · 11/05/2011 08:15

well done marion - thats brilliant Smile

How are things going all

I've picked a few naughty things the last few days. Need to re-focus (again!)

must start writing it all down again to remind me what has actually passed my lips

MarionCole · 11/05/2011 08:31

I have to say Furball, that's the only way it works for me - writing it down. It also helps me snack sensibly. For example, yesterday, we had lasagne for tea. My head tells me this is mucho calorific and I'm bound to have gone over my limit. When I go over my limit I tend to think "bugger it" and go massively over. When I counted up the calories though in what I had made, I realised there were only 400 calories in my portion, which meant I still had space for some chocolate cake. So I had my guilt-free snack :)

MarionCole · 11/05/2011 14:10

Been for my run.

Am meeting a friend at a pub for tea tonight. Likely to be a challenge! I'll happily have a vegetable risotto, but the puddings could be calling me.

Smalline · 11/05/2011 14:23

Well done Marion 3lbs is great!

Have been doing okay (not great) last couple of days, today so far have had porridge & raisins for breakfast
4 digestives with cheese spread and a bit of chicken salad for lunch
will probably have spicy lentil & bacon soup for dinner
going to the gym tonight.

Smalline · 11/05/2011 14:25

4lbs is even better MarionBlushGrin

Tortoise · 11/05/2011 20:03

Well done Marion.
Slipped back a bit the last 2 days. Need to give myself a slap and get back into it! Hasn't helped that I've had no Money the last 3 days so nothing to have for dinner. Kids have cooked at school. Money tomorrow so will get some veg in and make soup.
