Nice to see you furball. I love making millionaires shortbread! Not tried making banoffee pie before. probably best that I dont!

Thanks tortoise. I have tried so many times to lose weight but after a couple of weeks I give up! This time, rather than trying to lose weight and start exercising atthe same time I decided to do it the long way but it's working for me. I started by eating the things I usually ate ( roasts, fish and chips) but reduced the portion size. After a couple of weeks I then started to replace the meals with healthier ones. This worked for about ten weeks then icame to a standstill. The last couple of weeks introduced 20 mins exercise a day. Going through a phase where all I want is chocolate and chips but my sons christening is in 5 weeks and as an incentive I bought a dress a size smaller than I currently am. Hope it pays off!
Will be good to have people to keep me on track! How are you finding it at the moment?

Tortoise · 26/05/2011 10:15

At the moment I am struggling after having an ok week a few weeks ago. Seems to be a constant cycle. Can't seem to maintain eating well. Being short on money doesn't help nor being home alone all day bored! Hoping if I get this job I will be able to lose weight as I won't be sat at home everyday snacking.
Exercise wise, I walk around 6 miles a day doing school runs. Other than that I do nothing although i have done the shred with success last year.

Have just looked up the recipe for millionaires shortbread, think I had better stay away from thatSmile. The only thing I don't like about banoffee pie is the bananas, reminds me of my least favourite pudding in primary school bananas in custard yuk!!!

Sorry to hear that you are struggling Tortoise and Marion

I stayed the same last week, walk went well, finished it in 4 hours, beautiful surroundings made it less of a chore, our team raised just over £1000Grin.

Right Tortoise if you give up the chocolate/snack bars during the week, I'll give up the wine during the weekGrin

Welcome lovechocolate fabulous weight lossSmile what have you been doing?

Good luck with the job application Tortoise

Smalline · 26/05/2011 10:21

xposted with lovechocolate who has already answered my questionBlush

Furball · 26/05/2011 11:03

lets all post everyday what we are actually eating - no lies, no hiding - an honest account. so we can all see (including ourselves, when we may need to type 4 bags of crisps) where we are?

Breakfast - bowl of all bran and 1/2 teaspoon of sugar
snack - apple and banana - it aint gonna cut it though, may need to take early lunch Hmm

Furball · 26/05/2011 11:04

smalline - really well done for your walk! excellent stuff Smile

Smalline · 26/05/2011 11:37

Yes! excellent idea Furball, I find that it makes me think twice about eating it, if I know that I have to put it down in writingSmile

1 cup of tea with 2 sugars
porridge with hemp seeds & raisins
green tea & 5 litres of water.

Tortoise · 26/05/2011 11:39

Small Thanks. I am willing to give it a go! I managed about 5 wks of lent. Which proves I can do it! Well done on walk. I love bananas in custard!

Good idea furball. Although my list will already look bad for today so far. Just scoffed 2 bags of sweet chilli crinkles!

Just walked 2 miles and spent £88! Both dogs had booster jabs done at vets plus worming tablet for one.

Smalline · 26/05/2011 11:39

sorry missed the . off, .5 litres of waters not 5 litresBlush, makes a big difference doesn't itGrin

MarionCole · 26/05/2011 11:44

Good idea furball. So far:

  • white bread roll and butter for breakfast
  • Graze box of rice crackers (about 80 cals)
  • on my third cup of tea.

Desperately trying to ignore all the chocolate biscuits, left over Easter eggs and packets of crisps lying around the kitchen.

Not sure what I'm going to have for lunch.

MarionCole · 26/05/2011 11:45

It's absolutely chucking down with rain here, don't think I'll be going out for a walk

Smalline · 26/05/2011 11:45

I didn't realise dogs are so expensive, (got 2 now) I spend more on the dogs than I do myself, over £150 per month, wouldn't be without them thoughSmile.

Lets start on Tuesday TortoiseGrin, anyone else want to give up something during the week?

Tortoise · 26/05/2011 11:47

Marion I have no choice but to walk, I can't drive! Got soaked! Probably done about 4 miles walking already today.

Tortoise · 26/05/2011 11:54

Sorry xpost. Yes very expensive. But very lovely! I will try and start before Tuesday. School hols are always harder though.

Tortoise, sorry you are finding it hard at the moment, good luck with your interview :)
Great idea to write what we eat.
Today: half cup of special k, 1 slice wholeal toast with peanut butter, lunch was salad with feta cheese and a chocolate sponge cake (oops!), afternoon snack of special k and dinner is noodles with steamed vegetables. 4 cups of tea with a sweetner
Should let you know I live in Singapore so dinnertime for me already :)

Furball · 26/05/2011 12:25

2 slices of toast with 2 poached eggs (no butter - or salt!)

a few spoons of fruit salad and an alpen light bar.

Furball · 26/05/2011 12:26

and walked just under 5k this morning

MarionCole · 26/05/2011 12:39

Just got myself a plate of cheese and biscuits for lunch and then put it back again. I've got NOTHING in for lunch. Well, nothing that isn't horrifically calorific. Sigh.

Furball · 26/05/2011 13:08

Marion - you must eat something

hows about omelette? do you have any eggs?
jacket pot in the microwave with beans?
marmite on toast
ham sandwich
bowl of cereal?

Smalline · 26/05/2011 14:35

lunch
10 almonds, (whilst making lunch)
mashed tinned mackerel with lemon, red onion & black pepper on top 2 sesame ryvitas with sliced tomato & basil, (was still hungry so had)
1 heaped teaspoon of peanut butter.
Coffee.

Will snack later on apple, satsuma & yogurt, .5 litre water

I'm thinking of doing a beef curry type thing for dinner, I'll have cauliflower with it instead of rice.

MarionCole · 26/05/2011 16:30

There were no eggs, no bread, no potatoes - Ocado are coming at 7am tomorrow morning! In the end I had an apple and a slice of Soreen. We are having an Indian takeaway tonight so every spare calorie counts!

Tortoise · 26/05/2011 19:58

I will start food list as of tomorrow. Can't remember everything I had earlier. Had a sandwich around 5pm but don't know if I need/want anything else. Making soup tomorrow.

OP posts:
MarionCole · 27/05/2011 07:32

Had a curry last night but I had a veg side dish and a bit of rice rather than a full meal. And a bit of naan. And a poppadum. Still, better than it could have been and hopefully it won't have put any weight on.

Ocado has now delivered and I have a fridge full of salad.

Smalline · 27/05/2011 07:40

Had 3/4 bottle of red wine last nightBlush and 1.5 hobnobs.
