knottyhair · 24/04/2011 07:31

Hope it's OK that I've started this new thread, but the old one is now full! Not sure if my entry went on the old one, but anyhoo - let's keep going people! Here's to eating tasty healthy food, finding and sticking with exercise we enjoy and getting fitter, stronger & hopefully slimmer! xx

Just got to laugh Belle at sniffing cheese, oh the things we do Grin

Me too Dinky I've never been a lover of crisps or sweet biscuits, so cheese and savoury biscuits is defo the better treat. My DH would eat cheese for brekkie, lunch and dinner if I let him Hmm.

I have a Davina DVD workout that is still in the wrapper, me thinks I will investigate it tonight.

All of this cook yourself thin stuff, is it from a book or website as the turkey tacos sound good. I feel that I am forever stealing recipe ideas, but I honestly get fed up of the same food. I still cook the mince, spinach, potato curry that Knotty supplied and I will defo cook the meal from yesterday again supplied by Knotty, but the tacos also sound v interesting. and now that I have an au pair to cook for, I don't want her thinking I'm boring or for her to get fed up of the food.

So all recipe ideas always gratefully recieved.

knottyhair · 05/07/2011 12:43

TDW, I watched the Cook Yourself Thin series on TV when it was on a few years ago, and liked a lot of their ideas. Then Dinky mentioned the book on here a little while ago, and I managed to get a second hand copy cheaply on E-bay. I've had a good look through and would probably make most of the things in there Grin! So I'd recommend it, and will definitely be giving the turkey tacos a go. Also planning the lebanese chicken kebabs, the mexican burgers, ho fan beef noodles, spaghetti carbonara, crispy chicken with home-made slaw.... I think I need some lunch!

I'm having a bad day today. Felt tired all day, dashing from one thing to another and have mainlined sugar - counter productive I know. I need to stop eating marshmallows and shred later in order to be within my allowance. Now I've said it I've got to do it. Early to bed tonight so I don't blow it again tomorrow. Hope everyone else is fairing better.

BelleEnd · 05/07/2011 18:56

Have been the same as you JAM- Just got the munchies this afternoon, and snacked a lot. This is where MFP comes in useful for me- I knew that if I stopped now, I could still come in under my 1200 cals by having salad for dinner. And I did snack on low-fat stuff, but only 'cause that's what was in the house. I had one of those cadbury brunch bars, bloody hell it was nice.

So I had two quorn salads, a load of chocolate snack-a-jacks, ryvitas, crispbreads and a shape yogurt. I am something like 6 calories under my limit, so I'm going to have to behave tonight! :o

knottyhair · 05/07/2011 19:37

JAM, don't get disheartened! We all have bad days. Hope you manage to Shred, it'll make you feel better. Can you have anything healthy & tasty before bed? Hope you have a better day tomorrow.
Can I just say, the Cook Yourself Thin Chicken & Prawn Rice was absolutely bloody lovely. Will be a regular feature for dinner I think Smile.

knottyhair · 05/07/2011 19:39

Sorry BelleEnd, didn't refresh the page before I posted! I've also had the nibbles but have managed to stay within my allowance, with 78 to spare which I'm not going to have. I've already planned in 100 calories for a bit of chocolate or something later. As you say, that's where MFP comes in handy, on days like this!

OP posts:
justaminute · 05/07/2011 21:58

Well done Belle & Knotty. I did the Shred - Level 3, the one which makes me feel like a sweaty frog. I made a spicy sausage, pepper & pasta dish for dinner which was lovely and fairly low cal so I'm kicking myself for blowing it today. I'm way over my calorie allowance which is already very generous. Now that I've eaten something nutritious I feel awake - doh! I fear I'm becoming a night owl. I'll try harder to be more organised tomorrow morning

Shaxx · 05/07/2011 22:25

Hi everyone. Just a quick one today as I'm really tired. Its been a hectic few days.
I've not been logging cals so think I'm way over. I'll have to do my 1000cal stint again for the rest of the week!

Sorry I can't remember everyones comments but hell o to new myfitnesspal people. I'll look up your names and send requests tomorrow. Nice to have more people to answer too.

TDW look here for some cook yourself thin recipes. Thanks for giving me the idea to follow them too! They look very good.

JAM don't feel too bad. I'm joining you tomorrow in being more organised!

Dinky I like the list of exercises you submitted. I am aiming to do those every night in front of the tv.

Belle and knotty you two seem to be doing really well at the moment. Keep us drifters on the straight and narrow please Smile

Off to bed now with my book so I don't end up munching.

LadyBuzz · 06/07/2011 08:31

Ah I'm going to have to bite the bullet and find a photo now Grin

You all look fab ladies!

Job interview this morning on top of sleepless night and
PMT - Great Grin

knottyhair · 06/07/2011 08:33

Morning! JAM, well done on Shredding and hope you got some sleep and have a better day today. That pasta dish sounds lovely - how many calories was it? Shaxx, look forward to being friends on MFP! I'm on as "lucasmum".

Just done a L1 Shred with weights in the cardio sections. Managed most of the strength with 3kg but not quite all yet. Had cereal & skimmed milk for breakfast, soup for lunch, and pork steak, potatoes & salad for tea. Hope you all have a good one xx

knottyhair · 06/07/2011 08:34

Cross-posted again! Good luck for the job interview LadyBuzz ! Let us know how you get on Smile.

LadyBuzz · 06/07/2011 11:16

thanks knotty I got it, i'm completely stunned Shock i'm not in the slightest bit qualified for it (there was only 1 other applicant).
And they are willing to wait until October and let me phase back in 1 day a week until January. Shock

Sorry i'm a little excited Grin now to get that weight off for a fab new work wardrobe Grin

knottyhair · 06/07/2011 11:23

Yay!!!! Well done LadyBuzz!!! That's fantastic!!! Bet you feel great Smile Smile Smile !!

Shaxx · 06/07/2011 11:30

Ladybuzz well done! Whats the job? [nosey]

Knotty wow thats early for exercise! Its nice to get it out of the way. Thanks for mfp name. Ill send a request when I next log on later today.

I need to go shopping as I dont have much in. I baked cookies at 7.30 this morning as I had nothing apart from a sandwich to put in ds1's lunch! He's got his sports day this afternoon so I thought he could do with a bit sugar.
They smelled yummy but I've put them away in a tin so I don't keep seeing them and wanting one.

food for t oday

toast with butter and marmite
chick pea salad
chicken chow mein from that cook yourself thin website

gym if dh gets back from work on time.

BelleEnd · 06/07/2011 11:35

LadyBuzz That's fantastic! Well done! :)

Respect to Shaxx for not eating home-baked cookies...

It is not yet lunchtime and I am more than halfway to reaching my daily calorie limit. It's going to take a vat of diet coke to get me through today on target...

LadyBuzz · 06/07/2011 11:37

Its a Clinical Research Data Assistant in Oncology, more hours and money then my current job - and probably much less boring Grin it sounds really interesting, can take blood samples from trial patients Hmm Shock not sure how I feel about that!

Cookies at 7:30 thats impressive, I was up at 5 and still didn't manage anything remotely constructive in my extra hour!

I might go and check out this website it sounds interesting.

LadyBuzz · 06/07/2011 11:38

belleend me too, i've already had my lunch (leftover chilli) its going to be a long afternoon!

thedogwalker · 06/07/2011 13:06

Hi all

Well done Ladybuzz, that's fantastic news, so happy for you.

Wow Shaxx that's some super Mum call of duty there, I love baking but don't think I could do it that early, it would end up a mess.

Had another power session with the physio this morning, my knee is defo improving. Going to try Davina and gentle jog this weekend, hope I can fit it in.

My lunch of smoked mackerel, fresh spinach and green pepper salad with 1 x dark rye ryvita just hasn't hit the spot today. I'm already thinking about dinner Hmm

Ladybuzz Belle* we have to keep each other in the zone this afternoon.

LadyBuzz · 06/07/2011 13:28

TDW we CAN do it!
Glad the knee is improving.

knottyhair · 06/07/2011 13:52

LadyBuzz, that's a beautiful photo on MFP!! You look fab!!
Shaxx, we're now friends! Friend, friend!! Apologies if you didn't watch the Inbetweeners, you'll think I've lost the plot Blush.

dinkystinky · 06/07/2011 15:54

Hello all - fab news on the job Ladybuzz, well done! Glad your knee is better TDW and Knotty, wow at doing cardio with 3kg weights. You are definitely hardcore!

No gym for me today as was DS1's sports day (only found out last night, grr, so had to come into work too late to go to the gym at lunchtime) - may try to squeeze in a work out dvd tonight though. Not had a zoning day - porridge for breakfast then delicious (but non zone like) halloumi wrap for lunch. Will have to pull back with a virtuous dinner -was thinking of maybe having wasabi prawn salad...

BelleEnd · 06/07/2011 16:53

LadyBuzz That sounds like a really rewarding and important job. It's a subject close to my heart, as it is to most people, so huge respect...
You are so pretty! Girl, you are gonna rock that labcoat! (Must. Stop. Speaking. Like. Gok. Wan.)

Have kept on the staight and narrow since breakfast, but I do suffer from The Apprentice Munchies- The contestants are such arseholes, I can only stuff my face to console myself regarding their stupidity... :o

knottyhair · 06/07/2011 17:30

Oh yes, with you there BelleEnd re: the Apprentice. I've planned in 100 cals worth of Twiglets for that very purpose. I like to live on the edge Grin. Oh and Dinky, no no no, I managed most of the strength with 3kg, not the cardio! Had to use 2kg for that, apart from the punching one where I'm too slow with 2kg so reverted to 1.5kg. Nothing hardcore about it! And drooling at thought of wasabi prawns....

OP posts:
justaminute · 06/07/2011 17:45

Lovely to see you looking gorgeous on MFP Ladybuzz. I was nervous about adding a photo but it is great to put faces to names. Shaxx I've added you too- where's your photo?! Well done on the job front Ladybuzz, fantastic that they are willing to accept your terms too - you must have really wowed them -very well done.

Dinky - did you storm it in the mothers' race? Grin. They only have a toddler race at my dd's school but I remember in the first year an uber competitive mum turned up wearing running trainers.

Knotty - the sausage pasta thing was a throw together dish to use up some cocktail sausages I had. Apparently it was 360 calories. What sort of weights do you use, are they dumb bells? I bought a box set of 1kg, 1.5 and 2.5kg weights but mainly use the 2.5kg ones now. I'm tinkering with the idea of getting heavier weights but not sure what sort to get.

I've been slightly more organised today. I managed breakfast at home but dashed straight from nursery pick up to shops to school run so lunch was delayed and involved a jaffa cake binge Blush. Intending to shred in a bit, dinner of beef, green pepper & black bean sauce stir fry and a game of netball to finish me off.

Good luck fending off the Apprentice munchies Belle. I'm a fan too, sometimes I have to leave the room, I'm cringing so much. It reminds me of some of the group interviews and training days I encountered after Uni. I love the You're fired programme on BBC 2 too.

LadyBuzz · 06/07/2011 18:05

ha i picked a good photo from DDs christening, i'm usually a hair scraped back no makeup kind of gal but thank you, you are all very kind Grin

I purposely wore flip flops to DS1s sports day so i couldn't run!

We are having an indian takeaway tonight to celebrate but i have the calories saved for it, giving the gym a miss until tomorrow!

I just love the slating in the boardroom that they all get on the apprentice, classy!
