Hope it's OK that I've started this new thread, but the old one is now full! Not sure if my entry went on the old one, but anyhoo - let's keep going people! Here's to eating tasty healthy food, finding and sticking with exercise we enjoy and getting fitter, stronger & hopefully slimmer! xx

Hi all!

Thanks for the birthday wishes last week. I've had such a busy few days, lots going on and lots of lunches etc.

I weighed in at 9st10 on Friday. I went out for my birthday on Friday night and got back at 3am-eek! Can't remember the last time I did that. Was feeling a bit old so was on a sort of mission to prove to myself that I wasn't. However, I definitely felt my age (and more) the next day.

At friends for lunch on Sunday too and by yesterday morning, I felt as if I had eaten so much, it had almost put me off food. It was like I couldn't face eating and it's made me crave, healthy, non-fattening stuff.

Things are still mad busy here, I feel like I'm rushing around a lot so will read through posts more thoroughly soon.

Well done thinbride for coming back-you can do it!!! XX

knottyhair · 21/06/2011 10:32

Morning! BelleEnd, sounds like you had a good day yesterday. Same as Shaxx and LadyBuzz, I weigh stuff I'm not sure about that I know is calorie dense but as they say, you get to know what a proper portion looks like after a bit. BTW, what sort of stuff does your sister sing? Shaxx, well done sticking to your 1000 calories! And a bit of Desperate Housewives always cheers me up! iluv, sounds like you had a fab birthday, and I'm very impressed at the 3am finish. I think I've done well if I last until midnight when I go out Blush.
Well, I've just shocked my system by doing No More Trouble Zones with 3kg weights (well, most of it with 3kg!). I'm definitely Sweaty Betty now. Toast with a bit of peanut butter for breakfast, soup for lunch, and halloumi/chickpea & tomato salsa/couscous for tea. Have a good one xx

Hi Thinbride, Glad you're back in the zone, just stick to the pep talk by Dinky and we'll also keep you in line and you'll be a scrummy, svelte bride Grin.

Knotty good quads, check you out, our fitness guru. I need motiviation on the exercise front. Got a dodgy knee, seeing a physio every week to strengthen it, apparantly the ligament at the side hasn't stiffened as it should after having the baby, so when I was doing all the shred stuff, it caused inflamation and stress on the joint, just my luck, so I now have a run walk programme which is really, really boring. Can't wait to be able to get out running and shredding again.

Shaxx, how do you manage 1000 calories, I would be starving, good luck.

Belle, so where are you gigging? You never know if any of us are local we may pop along??

Had a silly day yesterday, tough deadline at work, didn't look up from my desk until nearly 4pm, wondering why my stomach was groaning away and I had a headache from hell Hmm. Had a good dinner and lots of water, but the headache was a bugger to shift, just goes to show what missing meals does for you. Will not be repeating that today.

Drove past stonehenge this morning on my way to work, (well I do every day), but saw all the summer soltise people there, nutters, it rained here all night.

Hope everyone has a good day. ta ta x

justaminute · 21/06/2011 11:31

Ouch to the knee pain TDW. No words of advice I?m afraid, it sounds like you are doing the right thing by getting it looked at and getting boring suitable exercises to do. My knees click really badly when doing squats so I do the easy (ha ha) versions on the Shred. Yesterday my dd asked ?What?s that noise?? as I creaked my way through level 2. Blush

I stayed in the zone yesterday. Lots of water and healthy food with netball and shred for exercise. I allowed myself the last slither of cherry bakewell cake for a treat. Feeling tired today and need to do the food shop between leaving work and the school run ? could be a bad combo. I have a few strawberries and a bag of Marmite rice cakes to ward off the hunger pangs until I get home. Wish me luck!

Thinbride ? hope you are still in the zone. I think you have become a bit of a thread project. We are all determined to see you waltz down the aisle in your slinky dress with a huge smile on your face.

justaminute · 21/06/2011 11:36

Iluv ? 3 am!!! RESPECT Smile

The only way I see that sort of time these days is when one of the dcs decide to sneak into our bed. As did ds today at 4am. grrr

dinkystinky · 21/06/2011 13:30

Hello all - TDW, ouch re your knees. Swimming, running on the cross trainer (as no impact - but keep resistance low), pilates or weights (for upper body only) are probably good exercises for you. I hurt my knee years ago (before DH and I even got engaged) and ballooned as couldnt exercise at all for a few weeks - those were the exercises I used to ease my knee back into fitness.

Iluv - respect on the 3am finish from em too!

JAM - you're in the zone my friend. Stay in there and ignore all those impulse buys when you're doing the food shop - they're landmines waiting to trip you up...

Shaxx · 21/06/2011 19:08

iluv sounds like you had a great time Smile

Sounds like everyone is in the zone. Well done and keep it up!

I'm trying really hard to stick to my cals today. It is hard for me to stick to 1000 but when I do it, it really helps to get me back to it and when I increase my cals back to 1200, it feels like I'm eating loads more!

Today I ate mostly from pret. I wish I had one near my house. I'd be slim in no time Smile

Yoga bunny breakfast yoghurt
Thai crayfish and noodle salad (amazing and only 180 cals!), yoghurt
banana
lentil soup, a few oven chips, some fresh mango

Don't feel like gym today. Feel pmt and bleurgh.

mg2012 · 21/06/2011 20:41

justaminute · 21/06/2011 20:42

Mmmmm Thai crayfish & noodle salad sounds very good, sadly no Pret near home or work for me. I'm currently cooking up Knotty's (shock, horror not from BBC Good Food) chicken tikka recipe recommendation. I'm salivating waiting for it to cook.

Pretty much stayed in the zone again today. Some mini chocolate shortie biscuits made their way into the trolley but I've only had 5 or 6 which is about the equivalent of 1 normal choccie biscuit.

Had major rumbly tummy as I put the dcs to bed but I remembered Dinky's mantra and had a glass of water which got me through bedtime and the shred. I think I'll treat myself to a G & T (slimline Grin) with my curry, which is now ready, mmmmm.....

BelleEnd · 21/06/2011 20:47

Evening all!
iluvcake I am well impressed with your late night/early morning! I haven't done that for about nine years, which, considering I'm 28, is either impressive or sad. Glad you had a nice birthday.
knotty I continute to be impressed with your fitness regime!
Shame about your knee dogwalker, hope it gets sorted soon. Can't believe you drive past stonehenge most days- I've never been, though am a bit of a hippy so I'd love to! (not enough of a hippy to stand out in the rain in the solstice, though. Oooooh no.) Gigs are in in NE Wales, faaaaaar from the henge :o
Hope the food shopping went okay Justaminute! That always makes or breaks the week for me. I do bloody fancy a cherry bakewell after reading your post, though...
Shaxx I have just checked, and the nearest Pret to us is 95km away :o

Second day on my fitness pal for me today, I really like it. It makes me realize how little I know about calorie content, and the food listing is great... I have managed two days just below 1000 cals with no trouble, not undereating, and not really thinking about it too much. It's amazing to me how some foods I'd deem to be healthy are equivalent to a chocolate bar in calories! Also, the website flags up if I eat too few calories, and it makes me feel more in control, somehow, as if their telling me is warning me against purging.

Tuna salad
breadstick and a few grapes
Leftover veg soup (mushrooms, lentils, onions and broad beans) with some low fat greek yoghurt) with 2 pieces of homemade rye bread.

According to my fitness pal, I have enough calories left over for a dime bar AND a snickers. Well, that's not exactly how they said it, but... :o
Shall behave, still basking in the warm lard of my weekend in Leicester :o

thinbridewaitingtogetout · 21/06/2011 21:02

Iluv - Well done on still going at 3am! I would be asleep in a corner by then i think.

TDW - hope your knee gets better soon, its awfull when you have an injury but your raring to go! Just make sure you let it heal properly so not to relapse.

Shaxx - that noodle salad sounds fab and we sadly do not have a pret here, but i know where i will be heading next time im in newcastle (my town was just voted the best shopping high street in britain, what a joke!)
I also would be starving on 1000 cal a day.

Justaminute - i quite like the idea of being the thread project! Im finding really helpfull to stay in the zone by coming back on hear (i have missed "chatting" with you all!).

I have stuck to my WWpp allowance today and yesterday and have managed to avoid offers of Lemon tart, Millionaire short bread and flap jacks.

I did have a small slice of carrot cake tonight as a treat - and traust me it was small, i worked out the pp and it was 6 for a 6th of the cake (very high) so i had a quarter for less points.

We went to the registry office to give notice today and it has brought home how close the wedding is and how little time i have left so i know i cant fuck this diet up or i will be paying for it for ever in my bloody wedding photos!!!!

Hope everyone else has had a good day and we are staying on track.

Guitargirl · 22/06/2011 07:04

Hi everyone, just checking in quickly before getting the DCs ready to go out. I have been doing ok this week I think. I was very frustrated with my sts the same last Friday so am trying phase 1 of South Beach Diet for 2 weeks as I know that will shift something. It's basically low carb for 2 weeks and then it reverts to more general low GI till you reach target. I have tried it before and was losing weight but gave up after about 10 days. Going to try and stick with it this time though as I think the basic principles are healthy eating.

knottyhair · 22/06/2011 08:44

Morning! TDW, hope your knee gets better soon, there's nothing worse than boring exercise! JAM, I also creak! Feel very old when it happens. Hope you enjoyed your curry. Shaxx, hope your PMT is better today. Sounds like you're doing really well with your 1000 calorie regime! BelleEnd, Grin at you "basking in warm lard"! Thinbride, amazing willpower refusing all those cakes! It must be so exciting that your wedding is getting closer. Guitargirl, good luck with the Southbeach Diet, sounds good!

I did a Shred early this morning as I've got to walk into town after the school run. Cereal & skimmed milk for breakfast, either a low cal option in town or some soup for lunch, and the low fat prawn korma recipe with rice & whatever veg arrives in the box later for tea. Have a good day xx

OP posts:
dinkystinky · 22/06/2011 08:52

Well done JAM at staying in the zone - hope you enjoyed your curry and slimline G&T - you deserved it Grin

Shaxx - I often feel the same re exercise when I have PMT as it all feels so much harder. But its worth pushing yourself to do it as the endorphin hit after the exercise makes you feel miles better.

Good luck with the Southbeach Diet GG. Glad you're in the zone Thinbride. Have a good day in the zone again today everyone.

thedogwalker · 22/06/2011 09:16

Morning everyone, wow it seems everyone is in the zone at the moment, what a great feeling Grin.

Hope you enjoyed the G&T JAM, I always feel better if I can have a little treat, it so stops me from going overboard. I treated myself to a nice Wine, just the one, with my dinner last night. I find it helps me use up any excess calories I have for the day.

Belle You sound like you're really enjoying the fitness pal thing, so glad that it is improving your relationship with food. I was the same as you regarding the calories of some foods, until I used a similar site, quite amazing what you think is healthy when it flippin well isn't.

Thinbride, stay in the zone my girl, we are with you all the way, you are going to look AMAZING in your wedding photos.

I've already had a good start to the day, wearing one of my suits today that I normally cannot get into. Bought it before I got pregnant and only wore it once, as it was already tight and bought it to slim into Hmm. Anyway, thought I'd just have a go and see if it would fit and was suprised to find that the trousers are actually loose Grin, hence I'm wearing them right now and I'm not having to breath in Grin x 2. Made me day, infact my week.

Wishing everyone a brilliant day xx

justaminute · 22/06/2011 09:36

Fab news about the suit TDW. Twirl away and smile.

Curry was good and very filling. Felt a bit giddy on my G & T, I think it was more G than T.

Knotty you are very disciplined to exercise first thing. I?ve tried but I just can?t do it I feel too weak to give it my all. I need to have eaten something to wake me up and then I don?t like exercising straight after eating so I would have to get up when iluv is getting in from her nights out Smile. Hence, I?m an evening exerciser.

Feeling confident about staying zonelike today. Fruit & yogurt for brekkie, I?m armed with celery sticks to fight the munchies at work, cottage cheese salad for lunch, chicken stir fry for dinner. My treat will be a hot chocolate and digestive after what I hope will be an amazing display of athleticism, producing a matching winning performance on the netball court tonight Grin

thinbridewaitingtogetout · 22/06/2011 10:23

Thedogwalker - well done on the suit, you must be feeling great!

Im still in the zone, went for my second run this morning at 6am and it really wakes you up, saw loads of police getting ready for the royal visit.

The Queen is visiting Alnwick today so im going to nip into town this afternoon to have a peep if the rain stops as its absolutly tipping it down out there, my poor dd has had to walk to the Alnwick Gardens with the school they will all be drenched!

Had ready break made with water and a splash of milk with honey and banana for breakfast (no porridge) and have had some oat cakes with cottage cheese for a snack as still hungry.

Shaxx · 22/06/2011 10:57

TDW You must be so thrilled getting into that suit! Well done you!
Guitargirl good luck with the south beach diet. I've heard its one of the better and easier diets to follow (although of course they all need still need tonnes of willpower Smile)
Knotty well done on sticking to your tough exercise regime. Prawn korma sounds yummy.
Thinbride well done on your run. Looks like you're in the zone. Keep going and think of looking great in your wedding dress! Hope you have anice visit with the Queen Grin
JAM stay in the zone! good luck with your game tonight.

I am feeling the zone today too.

yoghurt, fruit
thai soup, ryvita
griddled cajun chicken, green beans, new pots

thedogwalker · 22/06/2011 13:18

Knotty I get an Abel&Cole organic box delivered every Wednesday, are you the same? I like to see what surprise veg I'm getting to replace the veg I've said no to? Is the prawn korma a bbc good food recipe, if it is I'll have to have a look as I'm wanting inspiration? Any other recipe ideas???

JAM good luck for the netball, hope you win.

Shaxx what spices etc do you use to make your chicken cajun? As above I'm always looking for new recipes.

knottyhair · 22/06/2011 13:43

Wow, look at us, all zonetastic!! Smile. Everyone's food sounds lovely. TDW, the recipe isn't on the site, it's from one of the little BBC GF books, 101 Healthy Eats. I'll type it out for later if you haven't got it, it's not a long one! Those little books are brilliant for ideas. And I bet you felt fantastic in your suit! I've just been trying on trousers for holiday in Next and had to put the 12s back and get size 10s Shock! To be fair, I think Next sizes come up a bit big, but I don't care! We used to get A&C boxes a few years ago but we've got a local organic farm now that we use, just happens to be on a Wednesday as well. I love the surprise element - easily pleased, me Smile.

OP posts:
Shaxx · 22/06/2011 14:31

TDW I cheat and use some Schwartz cajun seasoning! Then griddle or pan fry in a tiny bit of oil. It also works really well with salmon.
I usually have it with this
www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/2817/new-potatoes-with-beans-and-cress-
With about 2 new pots for me and loads of veg. The dressing is really nice but I usually only add a tiny bit of oil, take some out for myself the add a couple of spoons of oil for everyone else.
This is also nice with the chicken
www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/4560/runner-beans-with-tomato-garlic-and-chilli

Shaxx · 22/06/2011 14:31

Knotty well done for size 10's! Woohoo!

BelleEnd · 22/06/2011 14:52

Size 10! That is really very slim! Well done knotty!

knottyhair · 22/06/2011 15:01

Thanks ladies! But as I say, I think Next have bigger sizes. Shaxx, when we start getting runner beans, I'm definitely giving that recipe a go .

OP posts:
dinkystinky · 22/06/2011 15:06

Well done on the suit TDW and the size 10s Knotty!

The runner beans recipe looks great Shaxx - will have to give that one a go. I have decided my major problem is eating too late - by the time I get the kids to bed (who are only 2 and 5!) its quarter to 8. I then do some work/housework until DH gets home - which is often around 9/9.30 and we'll eat then - so often or not near 10. I remember my mum and dad used to do this when I was a kid and thinking that was insane but here I am doing the same. I dont like eating without DH as when we eat together in the evenings is often the only time during the day we get to chat and unwind but dont really see any way to remedy the situation. So have turned mostly veggie in the evenings and reducing carb intake to see if that helps budge that last 2 lbs to goal.
