Hope it's OK that I've started this new thread, but the old one is now full! Not sure if my entry went on the old one, but anyhoo - let's keep going people! Here's to eating tasty healthy food, finding and sticking with exercise we enjoy and getting fitter, stronger & hopefully slimmer! xx

Morning! BelleEnd, try to stick to just weighing yourself once a week if you can, what they show can fluctuate so much during the week for all sorts of reasons, and if you're anything like me, the results really affect your mood, and therefore your eating. Did you say yesterday you were going to have a weigh-in day on a Friday? That's the day most of us on here weigh-in as well Smile. LadyBuzz, hope you have a better day food-wise today, and your new tattoo sounds beautiful!

I fancied a change this morning so did Billy Blanks Tae Bo Active. Quite liked it, wasn't particularly out of breath, but did build up a sweat. Still prefer Jillian though {sad girl crush emoticon}. Had a slice of apple fruit bread for breakfast, soup for lunch, and not sure what tonight. DS has to eat early as he starts Beavers tonight (when am I going to stop smirking when I say that?), and DP has a meeting this evening, so I'm going to see what takes my fancy in Waitrose this morning! Might be really lazy and get an Innocent Veg Pot or something. Hope you all have a good day xx

Have been very industrious this morning and started making soup at 8 o clock, so it will be ready in time for lunch. Have had boiled eggs and ryvitas for breakfast and intend to just eat my soup and a fry's choc creme for the rest of the day.

LadyBuzz your tattoo sounds lovely. I would quite like to get one but I am a wuss and worried about the pain. My sister has a beautiful one with flowers and leaves on her wrist, and I like the idea of getting something similar, but incorporating my children's names.

BelleEnd, it's horrible when you put on a couple of pounds. Hopefully your body will adjust soon and you will start to lose weight again. I eat quite a lot of carbs - most of them are healthy (fruit and veg) but I do also eat a bar of choc every day and account for it in my calorie allowance. I avoid bread, pasta and rice though and try to make breakfast more protein based because it is more filling. I am losing on average a pound per week, which is slow but steady progress, so it is possible to lose weight and not give up carbs. I am also the laziest person on the face of the planet when it comes to exercise, so I think if I could be arsed to use my cross trainer (which is glaring at me in the corner) on a regular basis, I would lose more.

Shaxx · 26/05/2011 11:03

BelleEnd don't worry about a few lbs. They'll come off again when your body adjusts. You're doing all the reight things for being healthy again Smile

Knotty I find Tae Bo a total doddle compared to Jillian! I do like it though I can never imagine the lovely Billy shouting 'I want you to feel like you're going to die!'

Karma well done on making soup so early! Organisation is the key to weight loss, I think.

LadyBuzz good luck with a strict 3 days. If you stick to it, it can really work. I sometimes do a strict 1000 cals 3 days and I know that I'll get a loss.

Today I am bloated and have pmt. Pains and grogginess due to lack of sleep. I just want to stay in bed reading with chocolates or soemthing.

I had a generous bowl of yoghurt and muesli for breakfast. Soup for lunch and leftover lentils and rice for dinner for me but have to think of something to cook for the family. Might just do a quick one pot stew or something.
I need to go supermarket as we've not got much in and tidy up the boys room as I've got their cousins coming to stay for the weekend.

BelleEnd · 26/05/2011 19:23

Thanks all for being kind and inspiring me :)

Finding that I'm ravenous after going back on the carbs... I think this is normal for a while, especially after being on a stupid starvation diet. Makes perfect sense really. But I have been good, snacking only on fruit, though there has been a lot of that. Also, having breakfast (small bowl of all bran with watered down milk) seems to make me even hungrier, whereas when I was just having coffee and water before lunchtime I wasn't hungry for anything.

You're right that weighing myself every day is a bad idea. Every Friday it is. I am really trying not to obsess. I had a bit of a crappy start this morning, but things got better (grandfather got the all-clear after chemo and radiotherapy :) ) and I found me some perspective!

small bowl of all-bran
1/2 wholemeal pitta with salad, houmous and Quorn sausages
1/2 baked potato with Quorn mince bolognaise, with three thousand vegetables :)
An apple, a peach, a tangarine and a few dried apple rings as snacks

Looks okay written down. God, these threads are bloody brilliant :o

knottyhair · 26/05/2011 19:38

Glad your grandfather got the all-clear BelleEnd - you must be so relieved Smile x

Was quite good yesterday, as I had today's weigh in on my mind and was scared. Am now 10st 6.2lbs, which is a loss of between 1 - 2lbs this week and puts me at just over the halfway mark in this diet. So I am quite happy today.

Of course, today is the day my MIL comes round with her suitcase full of chocolate, so will have to exercise iron will later on.

Hope the weigh in goes well for everyone today

BelleEnd · 27/05/2011 08:39

11st1. Am surprisingly okay with it. Realizing whilst writing down what I've eaten on here that I'm not buggering everything up, it just takes mental as well as physical adjustment to think that having a few carbs ain't the end of the world.

Good luck, y'all! :)

justaminute · 27/05/2011 09:36

My yo yo 2lb is back on plus another one for good measure Angry

I need to sort myself out. I'm hoping everyone's positivity rubs off on me.

LadyBuzz · 27/05/2011 09:55

Well done karma
BelleEnd i'm glad you are happy with where you are. You will be back on track in no time.

JAM i'll join the queue with you for the positivity! 1lb on here, which considering the crap week I have had is no real surprise.
Back on track for me this week, I am out tomorrow night for tapas and drinks so will just have to make up for that over the rest of the week!

Good luck everyone else!

knottyhair · 27/05/2011 10:13

Morning! Karma, great loss and well done on being over halfway! Good luck resisting your Willie Wonka MIL later Smile. BelleEnd, is that a STS? JAM, you'll be back in the zone in no time - here's the key for the gate, or would you prefer a leg up over the fence Grin? LadyBuzz, only a small gain and it sounds like you know why. Enjoy your tapas - yum. I've got a STS this week. Not surprised with a weekend of no exercise, cake, ice-cream, chinese takeaway! Also no exercise on Weds apart from a bit of walking. It really is the key for me, I don't get as good a result if I don't keep it up, even if I stick to my allowance. Just did Level 1 of 6W6P - I do like that one Smile. Fruit bread for breakfast again, prawn salad wrap for lunch and ham & olive lasagne for tea (sounds weird but is nice!). Good luck to anyone who hasn't posted yet!

OP posts:
BelleEnd · 27/05/2011 10:24

What's an STS please?

knottyhair · 27/05/2011 10:32

Sorry! Stay The Same.

OP posts:
BelleEnd · 27/05/2011 11:01

Aaaaaah right, thanks. Yes, it is really. Only I was weighed by the GP on Monday and his scales had me at 11st fully clothed, which is irrelevant, but has wrongfooted me. Very happy to be STS after re-introduction of carbs.

Guitargirl · 27/05/2011 11:32

2lbs off for me. Am ok with that, have had some really bad food days this week but have tried to compensate each time with a really good day immediately after. Have been doing lots of walking but no other exercise. I need to make friends with Jillian again .

We are away over half-term so won't be posting or doing WI next week. Must stay motivated!!

BelleEnd · 27/05/2011 18:33

Balls. Had a good day up to suppertime, and then made some bulghur wheat to go with a bit of veg quorn mince and salad. Forgot that bulghur wheat swells a lot more than cous cous and made far too much- enough for two portions, really- and it was so nice, I ate the lot. Lost control a bit, which is a bit of a step back, but am trying not to beat myself up about it too much- At least it wasn't pizza or hotdogs (the rest of the family's suppers!)

Today I had
half an apple, some grapes and a tangarine
ham salad with 1 slice of rye bread
aforementioned bulghur wheat, salad and quorn veg mince

knottyhair · 27/05/2011 18:50

Guitargirl, great loss Smile! BelleEnd, don't beat yourself up, it's not the end of the world. Were you really hungry though? Looking at your food intake, it doesn't look like a lot. What did you have for breakfast, if you don't mind me asking?

OP posts:
BelleEnd · 27/05/2011 18:58

Nothing Blush I get so hungry if I've had breakfast, but after today I will make the effort again. I wasn't eating the bulghur wheat because of hunger, though... I am trying to overcome compulsive overeating which I have left unchecked throughout my adult life, and it's far more difficult to control with carbs for some reason. I knew whilst filling up my cowl for the second time that I wasn't hungry, but it's almost trance-like- I need to always take that time to think before I eat, because I do it automatically, without thinking.

knottyhair · 27/05/2011 19:06

That sounds really hard to deal with. Like you say it's doing it without thinking, and taking time to check if you're hungry or not. Not that simple and easy Blush, but it's great that you're aware of it and that you can spot danger signs. What sorts of things could you have for breakfast? What do you like?

OP posts:
fedupofnamechanging · 27/05/2011 19:34

Balls from me too - have just eaten my body weight in minstrels. I have no excuse, just piss poor will power.

Will try not to make things worse by opening a bottle of wine and attacking the home made bread.

Sorry you are having a bad day too Belle.

BelleEnd · 27/05/2011 19:58

I have been having, and loving, a small bowl of all bran. I am surprised at how much I love it as it's what my grandfather has Blush Someone upthread says they usually have protein in the morning to keep them going, and I think that's a good idea: I think I need to look up what's protein-heavy without having a steak with my morning coffee :o

The compulsive overeating is a bastard, but as it's only been about a month since I faced up to it, I am doing okay. This is only my third lapse, and I am trying to keep it in perspective... Two bowls of veg, quorn and bulghur wheat is nothing to compare with the bowls and bowls of cheesy pasta I used to plough through without thinking.

fedupofnamechanging · 27/05/2011 20:11

Bran is nice. nothing like being on a diet to make you appreciate any food Grin

Guitargirl · 27/05/2011 20:12

I have bran flakes but am looking for something with a bit more fibre Blush.

Maybe all bran will do the trick?

knottyhair · 27/05/2011 22:09

I love a poached egg on wholemeal toast, spread with marmite but no butter. Bit of chilli salt ground on top. Yum. Could eat it now! Off to bed...

OP posts:
knottyhair · 28/05/2011 12:39

Morning! Hope everyone's having a good day. I've had the aforementioned poached egg on toast for breakfast, pea & ham soup for lunch, and we're off to a children's party this afternoon, so will try to resist the lure of the Walkers. (Other potato based snacks are available.) I did a Level 2 Shred this morning, very sulkily, I still really dislike it. Pork steaks with potatoes & salad for tea later. Have a great weekend x

OP posts:
fedupofnamechanging · 28/05/2011 15:37

I think this weekend is going to be write off. Have to go to ikea tomorrow (as , for some reason, I cannot buy billy bookcases on line). Ikea sell marabou chocolate, which I have been missing since the decline of woolworths.

Today, I have convinced myself that weight watchers cakes are a diet food and therefore it is okay to eat a whole box!

Hope everyone else is doing better x
