Yes Jelli - my DH is military (like yours maybe?) and does physical stuff regularly. Ran a 10k in 41 mins last week, so pretty fit, and he found it quite tough.

flatmouse · 14/04/2011 15:42

Well notyummy i shall take heart and not feel such a failure :)

Saw on another thread about zumba on the wii, whilst i was looking (as that sounded top fun) found a wii "Biggest Loser" with none other than our lovely JM!!! Tempting ! Wink

Woohoo D3L1 done and actually really enjoyed it (and kept up with Natalie for everything except the push ups) - think I am getting addicted!

Scared and impressed by those of you doing what sound like much harder DVDs! (And doing 30DS with 2kg weights - ouch!)

JelliBelli · 14/04/2011 22:15

Ooh! Notyummy that does make me feel better about finding L2 hard. 10k in 41mins is seriously good. Thanks for the info, will give me an added boost tomorrow morning as I sweat my way through it!

febes · 15/04/2011 02:01

Am now up to day 9 of level 1 30DS on my second round. I have done it everyday except monday when I ran completely out of time. I have lost 2 kgs this week after a 2 week stall so its working. I'm not looking forward to level 2 as I didn't love it much the first time round. I now use 2kg weights for everything except the last set of side lunge shoulder lift thingys and I follow Natalie for everything except the press ups. Big improvements on the first round.

notyummy · 15/04/2011 07:24

Febes, that sounds great- well done!

knottyhair · 15/04/2011 07:47

Great results Febes, and fantastic progress Jacksterbear! Going to do 6W6P again this morning, although I think I might go back to Level 1, then maybe try Level 2 again tomorrow.

febes · 15/04/2011 08:01

I just got my 6W6P dvd today. Shall I keep going on round 2 30DS or start 6W6P??? It sound hard so maybe keep shredding to get some more weight off??

stringbean · 15/04/2011 10:26

I started 6W6P yesterday, having worked through the 30DS. I must admit I don't like it as well as 30DS - the moves are a bit more complicated - and it's all a bit fast. I suffer from a funny sort of vertigo too, which makes me dizzy with all the constant changes of position. I suggest that anyone new to it watches a couple of times to get familiar with the moves, and then has a go. I don't feel it's as good a cardio workout as 30DS, but will stick with it and see where it takes me Smile.

gracelesslady · 15/04/2011 11:46

febes - really impressive! well done! and jacksterbear it is really wierdly good fun isn't it?!

my knees feel a lot better from a few days rest from shredding. have still done a good 30-40 min walk every day, and did a davina dvd too. hope to squeeze that in again, but it takes so long - 10 min warm up, 20 mins for legs, 15 for arms, 10 for abs... who's got 55 minutes??!!

am off to meet a friend for a coffee.... will try and step away from the cakes Wink

BalloonSlayer · 15/04/2011 12:03

< crawls on to thread >

< staggers to feet >

I did L2 shred and L1 6W6P again today. I shouldn't have, I had to keep pausing it. I was - am - exhausted.

I have never sweated so much in my life. BUT !! Just before I got in the bath I only weighed 9st 2 1/2 lb so that's something.

I am not sure what's best for me:

Shred is good for cardio, which I need as am very unfit.

6W6P is good for abs which I need as they are disaster area

Neither on its own is really enough

Both together = knackeration

Hmm
Jacksterbear · 15/04/2011 13:32

Balloonslayer - bloody hell, well done! If you want a shorter ab burst to add on to the end of a 30DS session, my faves are the ab section from the "10 minute solutions: pilates perfect body", or the "pilates cool down" section (bit of a misnomer!) from Charlie Brooks' "Before and After". Or Tae Bo "Abs and Glutes" -although that is 20/25 mins. Don't know if you have tried any of these?

graceless The Davina 3x 30 mins ones are (obviously!) shorter, although pretty easy if you are fit so you might need to do them with arm/ankle weights. Also the basic Tae Bo workouts are only about 25 mins long if you are looking for shorter workouts.

(Am new to shredding but have spent last 4 years doing various exercise DVDs and have a vast collection! Grin)

stringbean · 15/04/2011 15:27

Maybe you've found the answer BalloonSlayer - to do both DVDs. Am very impressed!!

gracelesslady · 15/04/2011 21:54

ooh thanks jackster just did the buff one which took an hour... will look into the 30 min ones, although my knees are still giving me grief :(

need a bath :o

febes · 16/04/2011 07:43

haha I thought you did the dvd in the buff!! That would have been interesting!

gracelesslady · 16/04/2011 09:53

:o :o :o interesting isn't really the word i'd choose!!

flatmouse · 16/04/2011 14:38

Just done 30DS L1 D1 with my 2nd weights... Still struggling with press ups and the heavier weights made the side lunges with arm raises that bit more challenging! Feel good tho (although shaking arms now).

flatmouse · 16/04/2011 16:47

Lol at autocorrect - obv I mean 2kg not 2nd !

OP posts:
knottyhair · 16/04/2011 16:53

Yes yes flatmouse, those side lunges are much harder with the 2kg. And I can't do the v fly wotsits on Level 2 at all with 2kg, have to go back down to 1.5kg Blush. When I do L1 now, I also use 2kg weights for some of the cardio, as in level 3.

JelliBelli · 16/04/2011 21:41

Hey hey! I had a weigh in today (like I do everydayHmm) and I am now 'heathly' and not 'overweight' according to my BMI (24.96) so am pretty pleased about that. In January I started off having a BMI over 27. (I won't mention eating pizza in front of HP7 with the kids this evening ......)

Flatmouse glad to hear you are having more success again.

I think those two moves (side lunge with anterior raise and the v fly squats) are my least favourite of ALL the Jillian stuff I've done. Even worse than burpees.

Labradorlover · 16/04/2011 22:18

Hello, not posted for a bit. Had sore knees, so didn't shred for a few days and am now doing it every other day. Have to say V squat things are getting easier ( second time round ) although, still using 1kg weights. From hating level 2, I now quite like it........

febes · 17/04/2011 02:57

Did my Day 1 Level 2 today and found it much harder than level 1. I didn't enjoy L2 much the first time round but I kind of enjoyed it today. It is really tough though- all those planks! Only 9 more days to go.

knottyhair · 17/04/2011 09:03

Morning. Bit short of time this morning, so I've just done 4 circuits of NMTZ. Don't really feel it was enough to be honest, so I think I need to keep this one for when DS is at school and I have more time. I've done it all the way through once and was a heap of sweat at the end! If I'm short of time, I think a Shred or 6W6P is better for me. Still, better than nothing!

Jacksterbear · 17/04/2011 12:18

Well done everyone! Jelli good news on your BMI.

D6L1 done and feeling on a bit of a low ebb again after really buzzing on days 3-5. Now I'm just knackered! And my shoulders/arms are like lead (and that's only with 1kg weights - Lord knows how you do it with 2kgs!).

Best motivational Jillian line so far: "When it starts getting uncomfortable, those are the ones that really count"!

flatmouse · 17/04/2011 16:22

Well done Jelli but i'm afraid i have to disagree... nothing is worse than burpees Wink
Jackster first time round i struggled to do some of the stuff with 1 kg weights - but second time round I couldn't feel it working - and i have to feel the burn!
Knotty i'll have to somehow struggle and make myself do with the 2kg - as it'd take me 5 mins to unscrew the ends and take of a disk each end!
Today's positive notes (30DS, L1 D2): Mother was watching me - so there was not one second of phoning it in! (not that there normally is as i'm sure you'll understand) and first set of press ups i managed 5 almost proper ones before collapsing to my knees to finish the set :)
I am JM-enthused again ! hoorah!!
