Hi all. Did NMTZ (first 5 ) on Tuesday using mostly 5 kg and I have just about finished aching today... Couldn't use 5kg for the lunge with side raises, surrenders or sumo squats with arm raises.

kittyfisherfoundit · 15/07/2011 09:28

hello all you jillian addicts! I did NMTZ yesterday and did really really enjoy it although it was hard work! My backside is killing today :-)
notyummy 5kg weights?! really. I thought I was some kind of Arnold Schwarzanegger power house doing 2kg. I need to up my game!

Does anyone else snigger every time she tells you to push your "tailbone into the waarrrrlll"

VenetiaLanyon · 15/07/2011 09:33

Jackster and Choc, thanks for your plank twists suggestions; tried getting into more of a plank this am, but still can't master the knee into the armpit thing....will persevere....

Well done for shredding in the face of adversity, Choc, too....

Kitty, I have NMTZ, but still can't pluck up enough courage to open DVD case

threestepsforward · 16/07/2011 11:54

Hi guys Smile
Just checking in - have been Shredding...just! Managing 3-4 Shreds a week which isn't too bad.

Hope everyone is well and having a good weekend...
Catch up with the thread properly next week

chocolateshoes · 16/07/2011 12:55

venetia - NMTZ is easier than Shred I think

knottyhair · 17/07/2011 11:25

Hi all! Had a fab time in Devon, and have only put on 1lb so not too bad. Did manage 3 Shreds and a couple of walks but also had ice-cream and cream tea! Had a quick read through and will try to read the thread properly later. Chocolate, that sounds really painful! Take care and hope you recover soon. Managed L1 6W6P this morning with 3kg and I really enjoyed it! Nice to be back x

notyummy · 18/07/2011 07:54

Well done on keeping it up on holiday Knotty - I find it is easier in most ways to exercise on holiday as I have more time and dont feel as guilty that I should be answering work emails/tidying the house/playing with DD.

Did a long run on FRiday. 12.5 miles on what was a hot day. Felt HARD. Bit of yoga on Saturday and then Levels 2 and 3 back to back yesterday with DH. Trying to step up the weights so mostly 5kg, except for things like the squat and v sits and also the pendulum lunges. Used 7.5 kg for those clean and press thingies, and they still felt like the easiest exercise of the lot!

Happy shredding all.

febes · 18/07/2011 08:23

I managed thw whole of BFBM this morning!!! I am amazed at how my fitness levels have come on. I have been doing alternate days of NMTZs and BFBM and although I'm quite tired and ready for bed fairly early each night and muscles have a nice ache going on. I hope it reflects in the scales too. I have already noticed it in my clothes after doing this everyday for the past 4 days. My plan is continue through my holidays (rest of July) and see some real difference!!
In NMTZs I have been using 3kgs weight for circuits 2, 3 and 6 and 2 kgs for 1 and 4 (shoulders and triceps) cause those are haaaaard but I am seeing improvements there too. I have proper little biceps now Grin.

knottyhair · 18/07/2011 08:47

Wow, notyummy, that is VERY impressive! Febes, sounds like you're making real progress and I always admire anyone who can manage the whole of BFBM! I've managed to pick up a tummy bug since yesterday afternoon, so won't be doing anything Jillian related today. Trying to take it easy and hope to back to it tomorrow.

GeekLove · 18/07/2011 08:58

As a Shredaholic what is NMTZ and BFBM? I want to know please!

notyummy · 18/07/2011 09:09

NMTZ - No more trouble zones

BFBM - Burn fat boost metabolism

6W6P - 6 Week 6 Pack

All various Jillian instruments of torture....

febes · 18/07/2011 09:11

Burn Fat boost metabolism and No more trouble zones. They kind of go together as they are set up with 5 min warm up then 7x6min circuits and 5 min cool down so 50min in all although you can choose a few circuits to do if limited of time.
BFBM is all cardio and needs no equipment apart from a mat and NMTZs is strength stuff and needs weights same as shred.
They are awesome and my fav at the moment. I have 6W6P too which I like but have only done level 1 so far.
Shred is more intense than NMTZs or BFBM but seems a bit short if I do it now but definately good if you are short of time and want a balanced workout.

febes · 18/07/2011 09:13

Has anyone got or tried Jillians single bell weight dvd? the reviews are really good but maybe its only in US version still? The bell weights are quite expensive though so maybe I'll wait a while....

VenetiaLanyon · 18/07/2011 09:27

Morning all. Am now scared to read notyummy's updates on the weights front; you are in a place that I will never be Grin; and Febes, you sound like you're catching up with her fast....

Choc, I'd assumed that NMTZ would be harder than Shred, so might pluck up courage to deviate from the one true shred this weekend

Hope you feel better soon, Knotty, and congrats on achieving consistency of shredding, Threesteps Smile

Thought we should have a vote for most difficult Shred move; think that I would go for squats with a v raise on level 2....or maybe plank rolls with a leg kick....

JelliBelli · 18/07/2011 19:42

Just thought I'd pop in to Hi!

I'm back to 6W6P as it was unsatisfying to do just some of NMTZ (although I do need to tone my naked shoulders some more...) as I do it before work and don't find time for all of NMTZ.

I am still running the other three days per week and I am in the middle of a 10 programme, having graduated from C25k a month ago!Shock Some days I contemplate entering a race Shock Shock Shock!!

chocolateshoes · 18/07/2011 20:18

Venetia I agree that the squats with V raises are horrible. I actually like the plank rolls with leg kick although at the moment am having to do them on my knees. Am doing level 3 Shred but replacing most of the cardio with press arms. My arms are killing me now!! Maybe I should get BFBM when I get back from holiday.

febes · 18/07/2011 21:40

Jelli- well done on the running! I have been contemplating doing C25k.... I think it will be my next mission. I'll wait till I have my next dip in motivation. That seems to happen every few months. First time I started 6w6p and the next time it was changing to NMTZs that got me through. Next time it might be having to face the world!!

VenetiaLanyon · 19/07/2011 09:32

V impressed with the running, Jelli - 10k is a v long way Shock

Choc, your arms are going to be steel by the time you can use your leg again Smile. I am still mostly doing plank rolls with leg kicks on my knees, as find the Nadalee version impossible....

All the sotto voce comments in the background of the shred; is that Natalie speaking? Or someone off camera, do you think?

notyummy · 19/07/2011 09:49

Ooh, I have never heard the sotte voce comments (probably the noise of my own heavy breathing covering it up!!)

Went for a 5 mile run last night and although that is quite short for me, I felt pretty 'heavy legged' after my double shred with heavy weights on Sunday. I am having a rest day today, and then have the fun of 6 Week 6 Pack at 6 15am tomorrow morning. Hmm

Well done with the running Jelli - would urge you to give it a try Febes. It really is the best calorie burner, and mixed up with something like the shred/NMTZ then you have the receipe for really working your body well. I find I can eat pretty much anything I like and maintain my weight as long as I run. I try and stay away from too many processed carbs - but I do like a few biscuits or slice of cake everyday!! I find if I overindulge on holiday then a few days on a stricter no carbs regime generally gets me back to my 'fighting weight' Grin. (Am not a v skinny person btw. 5 ft 10, 10stone 4. Size 10.)

chocolateshoes · 20/07/2011 19:46

haha Venetia - that's a good thought. Actually I wore a sleeveless dress out with friends last night and had lots of compliments about my toned arms! Was going to write exactly that Notyummy - I make so much noise moaning and groaning that I wouldn't hear anything quiet!! Will listen hard next time.

Going on holiday tomorrow for 2 weeks - yippee!

notyummy · 20/07/2011 21:09

Chocolate - enjoy your holiday!

Did 6W6P at 6am this morning and my body DID NOT like being woken up that way.....

febes · 20/07/2011 21:31

My sister wanted to try Zumba last night so I went along with her. I did not like it very much. I wasn't very coordinated and didn't really 'get' it. I can see why others like it though- its like a proper disco but I'll be sticking with Jillian for the time being. I've having a day off today after 6days of BFBM and NMTZs.
Hope I don't miss it too much. I'm normally a bit twitchy if I don't exercise now days Hmm

chirpchirp · 22/07/2011 15:13

Hi all! Just checking in. Glad you are all good!
So I did my first 10 days of level one and didn't die so stepped it up to level 2. Why must there be so much plank position! I'm too tubby to hold my own weight for that long! ha ha. Still battling along with it though and even went to a step and abs class this morning. I'm on day 13 and have lost 7lbs. I now totally understand how hostages can fall in love with their captors as I think I might have a bit of a girl crush on JM. Is this normal? Hope you all have a great weekend and have a lovely holiday chocolate.

JelliBelli · 24/07/2011 13:32

I've never heard the sotto voce either - again too much grunting etc on my part!

Chocolate hope you're enjoying your holiday.

Notyummy my body doesn't like being woken for exercise either (which is why I don't manage all of NMTZ before work - I talk myself into staying in bed "just 5 minutes more",then "just 5 minutes more..." I've usually actually got up in time for all of 6W6P!!

ChirpChirp congratulations on your 7lbs!! Did you take your measurements too - with a tape measure?

JelliBelli · 24/07/2011 13:34

Oh I meant to ask if anyone suffers from stitches?

Towards the end of my running, but not Jillianing, I quite often get a stitch and I wondered if anyone has any wise words to share?

Thanks.
