... And I still hate burpees!

OP posts:
gracelesslady · 08/04/2011 12:30

L2 D5 (i think) done. i actually gave jillian the finger on every up bounce of those jump rope things... and swore at her quite a bit towards the end. poor woman, she's only trying to help :o

still quite sore knees. not sure if it's just the shock of repetitive stuff almost every day. am still doing my squat variations instead of all the side/pendulum lunges, but managed nat's version of plank jacks (probably what started the swearing...)

am crawling off to die quietly somewhere Wink

TooTiredToArgue · 08/04/2011 13:26

Well done graceless (I too detest the jump rope thingys) and welcome to DandyLioness. The more the merrier, I say. There are so many success stories here that help to keep me motivated when it just seems like such an effort. I think once you get the first day out of the way (and the initial aching), you'll be well on your way. Good luck!

Knotty/Balloonslayer Can you remind me how long the 6w6p workouts are? Already thinking of the future, but love the fact that the Shred is over so quickly. Also currently reduced in price on Amazon

Oh, and bad luck with the trousers, BalloonSlayer. Maybe they shrunk in the wash? Wink

knottyhair · 08/04/2011 13:44

TooTired, 6W6P is 35 mins inc warm-up and cool-down, so about 10 mins longer than the Shred. Go on, I dare you.... Hi DandyLioness! 6W6P might be a good alternative if you've got a dodgy knee, very little jumping/high impact stuff, only mountain climbers and plank jacks I think.

knottyhair · 08/04/2011 13:53

I'm awaiting delivery of No More Trouble Zones, and just had a look at - eeek.

Right. Have shredded. Just finished and sweat still trickling down my temples. That must be L2D6. Definitely having day off tomorrow.

Big glass of water and then my first Wine of the week. Can't wait!

Have a nice evening everyone Smile

stringbean · 08/04/2011 18:43

I'm on level 3 day 5 (having done 7 days at L1 and 10 days at L2). I've done it every day, not missed any, also been to the gym. So why aren't my jeans any looser Sad?

hey lottie and early - some suggestions... why don't you focus on ab work, upper body stuff (you could do loads of weights but sitting down?) maybe even some lower body stuff that doesn't involve weight bearing (admittedly am struggling to think but will try and come up with something Wink) and try and be very gentle with yourselves with your eating? it's beyond awful when your body doesn't play ball. i have had some times when i couldn't walk because my pelvis has problems, so i completely get how you start to feel angry and resentful, but compassion with yourself is the best way through. and you'll get better and be strong again soon. big hugs xxxxx

Hello everyone - found the new thread. Haven't been around for ages as had a weeks holiday in Suffolk & then a week of Internet being down. But also haven't shredded in that time either :(. Started Dukan diet on Monday & that combined with hayfever kicking in big style (2 months earlier than normal!!!!) has made me feel totally knackered. Hoping to get back to it on Monday. Was on L2 about day 5 when I stopped. I HATE level 2, so may go back to L1 for a couple of days to get back into it & then move on to L3.

On a good note, I've lost 3lbs in the last few days on the attack phase of Dukan & definitely feel a bit slimmer. I think it's probably the water retention going more than anything. If I can just get back into shredding too then I will be well on my way to looking ok for my niece's christening at end of may and brother's wedding at end of July :)

TooTiredToArgue · 09/04/2011 08:37

Nothing very constructive to say, ladies (am a novice at this whole exercise lark), but just passing on my sympathy to lottie and early. I am imagine how frustrating it must be. Hopefully you'll both be on the mend soon.

If it makes you feel any better I hardly slept last night. Not, for once, because of the DCs, but because my whole body ached so much I couldn't find a position I was comfortable in! Feeling pretty grumpy this morning, but maybe a second Brew will cheer me up.

Stringbean not sure what to say

knottyhair · 09/04/2011 10:36

Yay! No More Trouble Zones just landed on my mat - will give it a go tomorrow, as I've already done 6W6P today.

JelliBelli · 09/04/2011 13:09

Sorry to hear of your injuries Lottie and Early, you must be very frustrated.

Tootired I think most of us are all novices at this exercise lark.

I have attempted 6W6P L2 D1 today, it felt quite hard compared to L1 but of course I have been practising that for 18 days! I did get interrupted 4!!! times though which didn't help. Blummin kids! There seemed to be a lot more standing work and it seemed to contain more cardio type stuff than L1 which has quite a lot of 'on the floor' stuff. I don't feel that the first day is all that representative though as I miss the first few moves while I am watching what to do. I expect to be a sweaty heap tomorrow! On the whole I didn't enjoy it too much but I do know that I prefer the ab work to the cardio so I am not surprised.

There is a section with bicycle crunchies in it which I did think "oh good I can do these", so hats off to Jillian for pulling me through the workouts as when I first did them on 30DS they seemed impossible but here I am doing them almost happily! Isn't it clever?

The good news is I had a measure in yesterday and I have now lost 15.5cm since starting 6W6P and a grand total of 15 inches (bust, underbust, waist, hip, thighs, upper arms) since starting 30DS back in January. I have lost a total of 10lb and a dress size so far.

So stick with it ladies, it really is worth the sweat and tears Grin

Duna · 09/04/2011 14:54

Hello, please can I join in? I've just done L1 D2 of the Shred and don't feel like I'm even able to walk anymore, I feel all shakey like my whole body consists only of jelly Grin

I'm getting married at the end of June and the thought of wobbling around in my wedding dress has frightened me in to some serious action...I must keep doing it...I must!!

JelliBelli · 09/04/2011 15:30

Hi Duna, and welcome.

If it makes you feel better, we all felt achey for the first few days but it soon wears off and you really can notice a difference in your endurance by the end of the week, just like she says!

Congratulations on the wedding - you'll have to keep us informed on how that's going as well as how the body improvements are coming along.Smile

My biggest tip would be, if you haven't already, take your measurements with a tape measure and if you can bear to, to take a photgraph(s) of yourself. I really wish I had done the photo thing as I would love to see just how far I've come in just 11 weeks - you've still time before the big day.

You're doing tha hardest bit now i think, so stick with it Grin

JelliBelli · 09/04/2011 15:34

Hi All,

Just thinking ahead, does anyone have BFBM and NMTZ? How do they differ from each other and/or to 30DS and 6W6P?

How long are you supposed to follow them for? I mean in days and weeks, not how long the workout is.

Thank you

Duna · 09/04/2011 15:51

Hi Jelli- Thank you Smile I'm glad to hear it does get better....I've just had a rediculous time getting on and off the loo, much to the endless amusement of my fiance in the next room Blush

Yes, great idea re the measurements and I might, just might(!) take a photo. I'm lucky to live in a country where getting dresses made is super cheap (Hungary) so I'm going to the dressmaker every 10 days or so- I'm hoping she'll have to be pulling it in a bit everytime Grin

Wedding preparations are going well, if I try not to think about how complicated it is getting all of DPs friends and family over to N Yorks which is where the wedding will be! Oh well, nowt like a bit of stress to drive me on Wink

knottyhair · 09/04/2011 18:31

Jelli, I've got both of those. They are both 7 x 6 min circuits (with warm up and cool down, they're about 50 mins each). I've only done the BFBM one so far, once all the way through and the next time I selected 4 circuits. BFBM is quite cardio heavy, no weights. I found it hard, and it's not my favourite, but my friend who loves cardio prefers it. NMTZ from what I can tell (clips on YouTube & reviews on Amazon - it only arrived today!), is set up the same but more strength/weights type stuff, so I'm looking forward to it! May give it a go tomorrow so I'll report back if I survive it Grin.

knottyhair · 09/04/2011 18:32

Sorry, hello Duna!

TooTiredToArgue · 09/04/2011 19:56

Hi Jelli
Just a quickie to say that I looked at BFBM on Amazon and the reviews weren't that great. Most people seemed to say it was a bit boring and uninspiring, and didn't recommend it.

Oh, and hello and welcome Duna. Jelli is right, get the first few days out of the way and you'll be hooked. I am, but having day off today. Almost miss it in a funny way.

Right, off to have kitkat as treat. Will be back on Shred band wagon tomorrow am, before 4 hour drive to my mum's where we'll be staying for a week. Not sure how she'll react to my new fitness regime. With raised eyebrows I expect! Probably a bit like this Shock!

DontCallMeBaby · 09/04/2011 21:21

Do you mean BFBM TooTired or are you getting it muddled with one of the others - cos I see 4/5 stars on both UK and US Amazon.

No Jillian torment for a while here. Went to zumba this morning, and for a run this evening, but I wimped out of the run (week 6 day 3 of C25K, or suchlike, I did 10 minutes, then just couldn't be bothered with the second 10 minutes). I think two significant chunks of exercise in one day may be over-optimistic.

Now I have to do some actual work, only my cat has arrived to knead my belly and generally get in the way. Bless him, you can see his little brain wondering why the belly is not QUITE so satisfying to knead as it used to be. :o
