No room at the part two inn - so here goes part 3!!

6W6P level 1 day 8 done...
... And I still hate burpees!

gracelesslady · 11/04/2011 13:26

just did L2 D6 - it felt so hard!! i keep expecting it to just get magically easier but even though i've done some sort of exercise every day for 5 and a half weeks i'm still knackered! anyway, just trying to focus on feeling proud of the commitment.

seeing as i've not lost a pound or even a bit of an inch anywhere, and my muffin top is still sitting there, being muffiny, i've decided to address my diet. i'm a veggie, eat pretty well (lots of veg and fruit and drink loads of water), but am a bit partial to just eating what i fancy (tea last night: massive bowl of pasta, generous glass of wine, half a tub of ben and jerries Blush) jillian might be good, but i doubt she could do a 20 minute workout that would deal with that....

hopefully that'll sort out the muffin top and then my abs will be marvellous :o

DontCallMeBaby · 11/04/2011 15:51

Levels 1, 2 and 3, back to back, would just about put paid to half a tub of Ben & Jerry's. :o

Ugh, I could murder some Phish Food ...

gracelesslady · 11/04/2011 20:12

hahaha!! :o i've been very restrained today: nutbar coffee and smoothie for breakfast, homemade lentil soup for lunch, apple and some more soup while the kids were having their tea, and then a massive vegetable stir fry with some brown rice [and the rest of the bottle of wine but it was a VERY small glass. honestly] for tea. hurray. i am an angel Wink

gracelesslady · 11/04/2011 20:13

oooh ps i did davina's buff abs this afternoon as well, even though the baby was sitting on my tummy for a lot of it wanting me to sing twinkle twinkle little star....

febes · 11/04/2011 21:03

After 5 days on the trot with my restart of shred I missed a day yesterday- Gutted!! I was called for work at 6.45am yesterday (supply teacher) and was in a mad rush getting the DCs to my sisters then wroked all day. My 3.5 yo DD pooed herself at nursery which is really unusal for her so she was poorly so when I picked her up I had to deal with whingy clingy kids until bed time. DH work 12 hours so got home after the kids went to bed but he had arranged for a insurance broker to come and sell us medical insurance. That took 2 hours so we didn't eat until nearly 9pm. We were so knackered we were in bed by 9.30 so no shredding for me. Back on today though. I have also lost 2 more pounds after stalling for a few weeks so happy days!!

knottyhair · 12/04/2011 09:04

Graceless, LOL at you singing "Twinkle, Twinkle" whilst doing abs exercises!

Febes, hope your DD is better today, and well done on your loss Smile! I've just attempted completed Level 2 6W6P for the first time. Gordon Bennett. I thought Level 1 was hard. I'd say you need a certain level of coordination for some of the moves that I just don't possess! Liked it though Grin.

flatmouse · 12/04/2011 15:19

Afternoon all! Reporting in for duty (OK maybe later on today). Missed Thur/Fri due to illness and Sat/Sun/Mon due to fab rugby tour :) Need to get back into it (particularly due to all alcohol consumed last few days!).

Now then, was on 6W6P L1 D8 and frankly not really enjoying it. Question: do i continue and get to D15... do i move on to L2 and give it a go for a change (Jelli surely you're on L2 by now - i didn't notice a report from you about it? But knotty hmm, i'm not the most coordinated outfit in the cupboard - sounds like i'd struggle to cope) or do i return to 30DS but with the heavier weights.... Dilemma! Views/opinions please!

Welcome all those who have joined in my absence and well done to you all for continuing on!

OP posts:
knottyhair · 12/04/2011 16:34

Flatmouse, I'd give it a go! There's only a couple of moves that I struggled with co-ordination wise, and you might be fine anyway. I did find it hard, harder than any other one I've done of Jillian's, but that might be because it was new. I did enjoy it though, don't want to put you off! But otherwise I think Shredding with heavier weights would be good as well. I really recommend NMTZ as well, if you fancy a new purchase, I think it's my favourite Smile.

flatmouse · 12/04/2011 18:00

Note to self... Don't listen to knotty !
Good grief I was exhausted by end of warm up ... And burpees in the warm up!!! Really struggled with the entire thing (particularly balancing during chops)
May attempt it a few more times before retreating tail between legs to 30DS.

DontCallMeBaby · 12/04/2011 20:34

DD has just done the whole of BFBM with me.

JelliBelli · 12/04/2011 22:35

Flatmouse I did do a write up Confused - you must have overlooked meWink, I know I am too late but I wrote

I have attempted 6W6P L2 D1 today, it felt quite hard compared to L1 but of course I have been practising that for 18 days! I did get interrupted 4!!! times though which didn't help. Blummin' kids! There seemed to be a lot more standing work and it seemed to contain more cardio type moves than L1 which has quite a lot of 'on the floor' stuff. I don't feel that the first day is all that representative though as I miss the first few moves while I am watching what to do. I expect to be a sweaty heap tomorrow! On the whole I didn't enjoy it too much but I do know that I prefer the ab work to the cardio so I am not surprised.

There is a section with bicycle crunchies in it which I did think "oh good I can do these", so hats off to Jillian for pulling me through the workouts as when I first did them on 30DS they seemed impossible but here I am doing them almost happily! Isn't it clever?

and then

I've done D2 of L2 of 6W6P today, it was hard work, I felt a bit flakey (and phoned it in a little towards the end, but don't tell her), the worst I have felt since my Jillian rebirth. Hopefull I will get better like I have on every other level I've worked through.... My glutes are sore today too, I wasn't sure if it was the workout or the garden, as I did a few hours out there yesterday, but having done the workout again this morning, it was the workout, it felt like a lungefest! I will have 'rock buns' by the end of this level !!!

Today I did D4. It is not as difficult as on D1 and D2. But I noticed that I was trying to work with Beasheera Bashira Bee all the time and pretty much ignored Maddy, so today I allowed myself to not try to work with Bee for every move as I am only on Day 4. On L1 I couldn't work with her from the get go so I need to be more realistic with L2 and allow myself to work with her when i can.

I don't really have a co-ordination problem but trying to balance during the chops is hard for me too and have resigned myself to going more slowly than them on the second go round (at least for the time being).

It is for me the hardest Jillian workout that I have done though.

BalloonSlayer · 13/04/2011 07:41

Hi guys!

Well with the holidays here I am getting really frustrated as I don't get my usual opportunities to Shred.

I also think I need to do more combining of 6W6P and shred like I did last week, I shredded yesterday and although I was tired I was hardly sweating. Perhaps this is why I am not losing weight, maybe I am not burning enough calories. But finding an free hour, or more, as I definitely need a bath/shower afterwards is not easy*

Hmm, will give it some thought.

*yes I have already said I am a skank, but as I say the shred doesn't make me sweat too much so I don't always shower, but shred and 6W6P together is something else entirely!

We went to legoland at the weekend and what with the baby rides and all there was quite a lot of sitting with knees tucked in. I kept seeing my reflection in unexpected mirrors and there is a roll of fat on my tummy that looks awful Sad

I need to diet!!

DontCallMeBaby · 13/04/2011 08:54

Oh great, DD is 'full of energy', wants her own may, and would like to do 'one with weights' today. what have I done?!

flatmouse · 13/04/2011 10:56

Sorry Jelli i did miss your write-ups - have now read and digested :)
I have an overall feeling with the 6W6P that i am phoning it in - I do get as sweaty as 30DS but i just don't feel as positive at the end, a kind of "well i suppose i made it through" instead of "Yeah! i did it!" Glutes are feeling it a little today - and glutes need work so i will endeavour to do a few more days of L2 to give it a chance. Suspect by next week i'll return to 30DS, but we'll see.

Balloon i feel my tummy looks worse at the moment even though it is better than it has been IYSWIM - before it was all puffed out and fat so smooth - now the underlying muscles are toning up so i have rolls. Not the best look but i take encouragement that things are working towards good.

OP posts:
BalloonSlayer · 13/04/2011 12:12

Ah thanks Flatmouse, that makes me take heart a bit.

I did a Level 2 Shred followed by 6W6P this morning, but I "phoned in" quite a few bits, I felt ever so tired. However, it seems to be the way to go for for me. That's the trouble - finding the whole hour!

On the positive side, I have discovered how to pause the DVD (am using DS1's playstation and so it doesn't have the usual buttons) so I don't have to rely on a time when I have no interruptions to do it. In fact I may hang a sign on the door saying Grateful for Interruptions. Grin

Jacksterbear · 13/04/2011 14:25

Hello all, don't know if I am too late to join this thread?

Just started shredding, did day 2 of L1 today and am seriously aching (mostly back and arms)! Don't know how the hell I am going to be able to manage it again tomorrow!!

Anyway I am 6 months post having DC2 and still have half a stone to lose (or a stone would be even better Grin) and am due back to work at the beginning of June so would like to be in top shape by then. My tummy is ok but the damned chubbiness won't shift off my bum and thighs grrr.

gracelesslady · 13/04/2011 15:23

hello!!

no shredding again today cos my knees are still really sore. not chuffed about this at all and very much hope they ease off soon. did do my davina buff though which i found totally fine knees-wise and actually overall a LOT easier than last time i did it. might stick with that for a week or two until knees sort themselves out and then get back to jillian. much as i love davina you just can't beat getting it all over and done with in 20 mins!

food wise i've been pretty good and have not gone near the tub of phish food in the freezer :o accidentally had a cheese ploughman's sarnie this morning after work, but was starving and had at that point been awake for 25 hours. it filled a gap Wink

gracelesslady · 13/04/2011 15:23

ps hello jackster hang in there with the aching - shredding actually makes it feel better! xx

JelliBelli · 13/04/2011 15:37

Hi Jacksterbear, of course you're not too late, come on in and join the madness... we all ached at the beginning too (don't despair it's just your muscles repairing and growing bigger Smile). Stick with it and it'll go within a few more days, it'll be worth it I promise and you'll be looking great by the time you get back to work.

Flatmouse and BalloonSlayer i totally agree with the wobbly/flabby belly thing. The tape measure tells me that there is much less flab there but somehow it does look worse. I think there are probably several reasons including

a) more awareness and observation
b) more distinction between muscle and flab
c) increased expectation

Flatmouse I think I know what you mean about finishing L2 6W6P and not feeling as though you've conquered the world. I think it's because it's really quite hard and we have really only just started the level. Are you trying to stick with Bea? I am trying to allow myself to work with Maddy (although of course there is not much difference between them on L2 - perhaps that is our problemConfused). I daresay that by the time we are on days 12-18 we will find it significantly less hard (I hope!)

knottyhair · 13/04/2011 15:43

Now JelliBelli, you know the achiness is actually "fear leaving the body" Grin.

JelliBelli · 13/04/2011 16:06

Grin - silly me I forgot!

Jacksterbear · 13/04/2011 16:35

Thanks for the welcome, and the advice - good to know I will get through the aching!

The strange thing is, I don't actually find L1 that hard (ok it's quite hard, but not impossible) while I'm actually doing it - and that's doing somewhere in between the Anita and Natalie levels for most things - but it just aches like hell once I'm finished!! The first day, I was actually quite disappointed: after reading some of the threads on here I was expecting worse... that is, until about 12 hours afterwards when the aching/stiffness kicked in! Grin

flatmouse · 13/04/2011 18:41

No sorry but 6W6P too advanced for me - particularly L2.
Am reverting to 30DS from Friday (won't have time tomorrow). Need to refocus and recommit. Will get 2kg weights ready.

Will maybe return to 6W6P once I complete 30DS again!

OP posts:
notyummy · 14/04/2011 08:18

Did NMTZ yesterday for a change - I think I have only done it once since I got it months ago! Didn't get an out of breath feeling v often as quite cardio-light, but some things felt tough, and sure enough I am a bit achey today.

DH did L2 of 6W6P on Tuesday and has declared it 'pretty tough' - so it must hard!!

JelliBelli · 14/04/2011 10:12

Notyummy's DH - phew - am glad to hear it and it's not just me! Will get DH to try it on his return and see what his verdict is too...
