No room at the part two inn - so here goes part 3!!

6W6P level 1 day 8 done...
... And I still hate burpees!

OP posts:
gracelesslady · 24/05/2011 13:03

did L2 just now. just doing whatever level i fancy - am aiming for a shock-and-awe approach to my muscles and i think i achieved it... had forgotten how much i hatehatehate L2!!

knotty - you sound really organised. well done on the weight loss - i reckon being organised might be the key... my ad hoc approach to everything certainly hasn't worked!!

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 24/05/2011 18:50

knotty you sound far more organised and prepared to put the effort in than me, I can't be doing with all the weighing! I think a fairly slow weight loss is better in the long run, it's also about re-educating yourself to realise that if you want to keep it off you have to fundamentally change what and the way you eat, mind you if it were that simple we wouldn't have all these weigh loss plans!

I did level 2 of 6w6p today. I'd only done 2 days on level 1 but although it felt like I was working out I don't know whether it was having much effect on my stomach. when I first start a new routine I expect it to hurt alot the next day, I didn't get a twinge, so decided to go for broke. definately felt I was exercising, my core was burning in some of the exercises and I was pleased that although it's not an out and out cardio routine it was enough to get my heart going. So we'll see to tomorrow whether I can get out of bed!

notyummy · 24/05/2011 18:59

I also did L2 6W6P today. I actually quite enjoyed it - all apart from those moguls....

Knotty - you sound very disciplined. I don't need to lose weight (10 st 5 at 5 ft 10/size 10....although wouldn't say no to a couple of pounds off my bottom Grin) but I can't do any routine where I actually get hungry. I tend to steer away from bread, crisps etc and only v small portions of complex carbs (apart from in the morning when I have a big bowl of porridge.) I find soup and salads with plenty of lean protein are great for filling me up without actually being bad for me. I only drink occasionally now.

I still have a couple of biscuits or a piece of cake everyday though - which I know are naughty in terms of carbs/sugar, however if I have been 'good' the rest of the time then I figure, why not?

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 24/05/2011 19:07

The moguls I didn't find too bad. What I couldn't do was the one where you lift yourself up and twist to the side, I think she might have called them t raises but I'm not sure. I do the routine on a hardwood floor and I can't get the grip, plus my balance is probably crap so I did some side plank raises instead.

chocolateshoes · 24/05/2011 20:23

hello! L3D9 done! I don't know why I feel so excited about nearly finishing....you can't see any difference at all. Need to decide what to do next...am thinking level 2 with gusto a la nathalie, maybe alternating with level 3. I guess I should get NMTZ as well

BalloonSlayer · 25/05/2011 12:48

An ominous parcel has just plopped on to my doormat.

I think it is BFBM.

< quails >

Or did I order t'other one?

But I think I can hear a faint voice bossing away from the depths of the padded envelope: "C'mon, open me up! You don't get to look like this for free! You're only cheating yourself. C'mon - time to get started! Beautiful!!" Confused

TooTiredToArgue · 25/05/2011 13:18

Didn't shred yesterday and ate cake at toddler group. I have no self discipline. It's official. Blush

Am never going to shift my wobbly tum at this rate. I'm sure I have some muscles underneath the main roll of flab, but not sure how they are ever going to see the light of day.

threestepsforward · 25/05/2011 15:34

Hello all Smile

Don't beat yourself up TooTired about the cake at toddler group, remember that the Shredding/exercise will be counteracting the calories, so there's a positive to it. I think the odd bit of cake is beneficial so you don't feel like you're depriving yourself Smile

I'm terrible with chocolate. Bought 2 giant bags of M&Ms for builders to find out none of them like chocolate - so guess who's been scoffing the lot Blush. Ate tonnes of v v bad food over weekend too - pizzas, muffins with mountains of butter, chocs...I am one hell of a pigleto!

Well I am seriously out of the zone! Had a long weekend away so haven't Shredded since last Thursday... Am going to do L3 Shred tonight if there's time. Looking forward to a bit of cardio [saddo emoticon]

Will check in later if I survive it after such a long break!

threestepsforward · 25/05/2011 15:35

Ooo and go for it Balloon [ra ra ra

TooTiredToArgue · 25/05/2011 18:04

You're right, threesteps. Nothing like a bit of Jamaican Ginger cake to lift your mood. I'm a sucker for a bit of cheap cake.

Good luck, BalloonSlayer. Sure it won't be a cake walk!

TooImmature2BMum · 25/05/2011 18:35

Hi people,

I have restarted the Shred after spending a week in Greece eating and drinking like a hog. I am now on L1D3 and have done all 3 days without a break, hurray! I have made myself a little chart with 30 days marked on it and various other landmark events such as Going Back To Work and Birthday Party (not my birthday, someone else's), and I am drawing little smiley faces on it every time I Shred. So far it is helping.

I am also on the last day of a 3 day mad diet which is supposed to make you shed 10lbs in 3 days. I don't really believe it is going to do that, but I thought it might give me a bit of a kick-start.

Does anyone actually know how many calories the Shred burns? The calorie counter website says that 20 minutes Shredding burns 88 calories (glamourdiets.com), but that doesn't seem enough to me!

Jacksterbear · 25/05/2011 19:37

Well done on re-starting tooimmature! Hope u had a lovely holiday. MFP says between 180-200 cals depending on whether you log it as "high impact aerobics" or "circuit training". (That's also logging it as 25 mins which I'm not sure whether to do, i.e. counting the warm-up and cool-down.) (Also, I think MFP calculates it according to each individual's BMI.)

chocolateshoes · 25/05/2011 19:53

What is the diet TooImmature? I really don't want to diet but despite finishing L3D10 today (!!!!!!) having only missed 3 days, and with 3k weights, I don't think anything has happened to my body! I can't bear dieting - am a foodie, love cooking & eating..But maybe I could cope with a 3 day diet....

Jacksterbear · 25/05/2011 20:52

Woohoo chocshoes well done for finishing! And kudos for the 3k weights! I am not a dieter either but mfp is not really like a diet, more a fun strategy game u try to win (but sometimes lose) each day!

threestepsforward · 26/05/2011 08:39

Big congrats Chocshoes Grin Are you going to keep on with it now you've done the 30 days?

Hello tooimmature Smile. The chart sounds like a good idea, good inspiration to keep you going, and motivated...

I managed L3 last night and although I wasn't sweating that much I was very out of breath during the cardio and some of the strength stuff - does that still mean it's doing me good lol?

Hope to be able to do another level tonight...
Have a great day everyone

fearnelinen · 26/05/2011 10:48

Well hellllooooo ladies! And count me in!
DH and I have are on L1D4 shred and so far I am loving it (please don't break my naive innocence!) We get up at 6:15 and get 30 minutes together before DCs get up and we mostly just laugh! It's a great way to wake up - we start barely able to string a sentence together and finish 30 minutes lates smiling, high fiving and laughing! If I don't lose any weight, at least we'll feel a little closer :)
I have done my ankle in though and I am aching a lot! Please tell me it gets less painful at some point?

chocolateshoes · 26/05/2011 11:43

welcome fearnelinen - what a great idea doing Shred together. Wish I could persude my DH to do it - want him to feel the pain!!!!

Am going to def carry on - may try to up the weights slightly or just make sure I really push myself. Went for a swim first before Shred this morning and have Zumba tonight which will probably finish me off!

I think I'll have to face up to some sort of diet tho. Have cut down on wine and chocolate but as my nickname suggests I am rather dependent on it.

However, all that good work done I'm going out for lunch with DH in a minute. Hehe!

TooImmature2BMum · 26/05/2011 15:31

DH is lying on the floor going 'let's go to McDonald's'! No no no!

I have not Shredded yet but am refusing to get dressed until I have - oh my God, it is twenty past three! I am still in my pyjamas! Blush I thought it was only about 1 o'clock. This what happens when you have nothing in particular to do all day and no reason to leave the house.

Chocolateshoes, the diet was called the British Heart Foundation diet (Google it) and it is basically a diet of around 900 calories a day. The version I had was American and called for you to eat beef franks/hot dogs on Day 2, so I compromised on Tesco Finest beef sausages, which are a lot more calories (my total for Day 2 was about 1300 calories as a result). I have lost 2lbs in the 3 days, which is nice, even if it isn't the 10 lbs promised.

Am off to look at MFP.

TooImmature2BMum · 26/05/2011 16:58

Yay, have done it! Day 4 down - only 26 to go! Tomorrow is my last day of girly push ups - I told myself that after day 5 I have to try proper push ups

threestepsforward · 26/05/2011 19:51

Tooimmature I'm still doing girlie push-ups after 2 months of Shredding, I don't ever think I'll be able to do full blown ones! Well done on day 4! - are you finding it getting a bit easier with each day?

Level 2 for me this evening and I'm finding it hard going after my 5 day break [wimp]! I'm also having to Shred later than I'd like at the mo because of people working in house during the day - am SO looking forward to getting our house back. We've had days and days where no one turns up so the whole thing is just dragging on and we're surrounded by chaos, dirt and dust, arrrgh!!

Sorry for the rant Blush

Have good evenings all

TooImmature2BMum · 26/05/2011 22:06

A little bit easier - I have been counting push-ups and I managed 17 on the first set and 12, I think, on the second today. Yesterday I only managed 15 and 8. The strength sections are definitely hardest! The cardio is knackering but I don't have that same sense of not actually being able to carry on that I get with the strength bits.

chocolateshoes · 27/05/2011 08:15

well done on real push ups Tooim!

My legs are killing me after so much exercise yesterday - could hardly walk up the hill home after Zumba. Going out for coffee after school drop but then need to get on with today's Shred and then a swim. Am going to do L3 again today but really need to work out what is best to do next...

Thanks for diet info Tooim - will look into it

knottyhair · 27/05/2011 10:16

TooImm, I still find "proper" push-ups hard. I can usually manage a few, sometimes a whole set, but often need to drop to my knees for the last ones Blush. But weirdly I can manage the walking ones and the travelling ones in Levels 2 & 3. Bizarre. Just done a Level 1 6W6P. Still can only get up on my elbow for the diagonal get-ups, but can now do full sets of proper knee raise side plank things. Must pluck up the courage to give L2 another go...

gracelesslady · 27/05/2011 10:21

good morning shredders. i have just noticed that my biceps are here. they've gone big. it's really wierd. i must say i was more concerned with the bingo wings and making them go away (and jm does do a lot of bicep curls and there's not a great deal of direct attention to triceps) but nonetheless, it's muscle and i am pleased!! did L3 again yesterday. having a day off shredding today because i'm working tonight, but plan on cycling through the levels again as of tomorrow. hope everyone's have a happy friday so far :o

notyummy · 27/05/2011 10:22

You'll get there in the end with the press-ups - just keep going and always challenging yourself and you will gradually get stronger. If you gradually up the weights in the Sgred you will find it makes you stronger and able to do press-ups - I found Body Pump years ago made a BIG impact on my press-up ability.

DH and I were Shredding together last Sunday when 4 year old dd joined in for L3 and did all of the first strength section (properly, Natalie style) with utterly no problem, whilst having a chat to us!! Shock We were agape.
