Sorry sweat in my eyes ! 3 hour dance Grin

chocolateshoes · 22/05/2011 11:16

L3D7 - done! Despite not feeling 100%. DS has dodgy tummy and I think I might be on the way down too...Still finding level 3 hard - hate the mountain climbing things followed by sumo squats!

Jacksterbear · 22/05/2011 14:08

Good work everyone!

Oh no choc hope u are ok!

NMTZ done (all the way through) for the 1st time today - hard work! Out of interest, are any of you on MFP and if so what would you log NMTZ as? Tempted to put it down as cardio not strength as not going through all that for no calorie benefit!

notyummy · 22/05/2011 18:26

Not on MFP I am afraid! Is there a 'easy aerobics' option? You could try listing it as that.

Did levels 2 and 3 of the Shred today and it felt easier than usual. It may have been the effect of only doing Yoga yesterday and a good nights sleep, but we both powered through. Think I may try buying some 2kg and 4kg weights and stepping it up. I usually do 3kg throughout apart from the V raises where I drop to 1.5, so I would be good to step up a KG overall.

TooTiredToArgue · 22/05/2011 19:53

hello all

Did Level 3 again today. Wimped out of doing 6w6p. Two things niggling at me:

  1. What in damnation is a 'cake walk' (that JM goes on about in her intro)?
  2. I keep waiting for 'the magic to happen', expecting a magician to jump out of the tv, wave his wand and leave me looking like Elle Macpherson, but it just doesn't happen. Sad

Hey ho. Tomorrow's another day, and an in-service day here

Jacksterbear · 22/05/2011 21:50

I assumed cake walk just meant easy, a la "a piece of cake", although not sure where the metaphor comes from!

Jacksterbear · 22/05/2011 21:52

Ahhh, a mixture of "a piece of cake" and "a walk in the park" according to urban dictionary!

TooTiredToArgue · 23/05/2011 08:04

Ah. So that's it! Thanks, Jackster. There was sceptical old me thinking she'd made it up. Notice 'phoning it in' also makes an appearance there. Right, can sleep happy in my bed tonight.

Screaming started downstairs so I'd better go and break it up investigate. Have good days everyone. Smile

knottyhair · 23/05/2011 08:14

It's my 21st 43rd birthday today, and my present to myself is butter on my toast followed by a Level 3 Shred. That's OK isn't it??

Jacksterbear · 23/05/2011 08:44

Happy bday knotty! I reckon a shred burns about the same amount of cals as a slice of buttered toast so go for it Smile.

TooTiredToArgue · 23/05/2011 09:02

Happy birthday knotty! I had butter on my toast this morning, and not my birthday . Enjoy your day. Think of me when you're doing your jumping lunges (I'm shredding later on).

BalloonSlayer · 23/05/2011 12:41

Happy Birthday knotty!

I always have butter on my toast, birthday or not, so I think you need to think of another present you can give yourself. Wink

I did my usual thing of leaving it almost too late to do anything, then cramming in a L2 Shred, and having to belt up to pre-school, the last one to collect, and treating the world to the sight of my varicose veins < shudder > because I was still in my exercise trousers.

My scales (see posts above) continue to taunt me. Angry Has anyone else got Weightwatchers' scales? Do they go a bit funny when they are running low on battery? And where the Very Elephant did I leave the spare battery?

gracelesslady · 23/05/2011 12:42

hi everyone

had busy few days and not shredded at all but am getting back on the wagon today. happy birthday knotty! hope your toast was lush and your shred was easy. haven't had a read through of what everyone's been up to, so hope you're all well fit and happy. off to do some shredding! :o xx

knottyhair · 23/05/2011 13:22

Thanks everybody Smile!

Jacksterbear · 23/05/2011 15:32

Weigh-in today: 3.5lb lost in a week since I joined MFP plus continued to Shred combined with NMTZ and BFBM! (Have exercised 5 days a week for last couple of weeks.)

Dropping my calorie intake has obviously really made all the difference!

Too knackered to shred today, about to go off and phone it in do a less intense workout, maybe Davina!

Jacksterbear · 23/05/2011 16:13

Damn you Jillian! I now seem incapable of phoning it in on any workout - I get a voice in my head shouting "you're only cheating yourself"! Have never found Davina so hard - but then was giving it all and doing Jillian style intervals not the rather pathetic Davina ones!

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 23/05/2011 18:07

knottyhair, happy birthday, most impressed with you shredding on your birthday!

did first 5 circuits of nmtz as lack of time ( knee better), I cannot do those surrenders with any weights at all, pathetic really. I don't really understand why as I can do the other exercises in that section with 2 or 2.5 kg weights, and I'm sure JM only uses 3lb ones.

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 23/05/2011 18:10

jackster good weight loss - how many calories have you dropped by? I went on to MFP and it said drop to 1600 per day for me.

Jacksterbear · 23/05/2011 19:02

Thisis I find those surrenders by far the hardest thing in NMTZ too! Glad your knee better.

My calorie allowance on MFP is 1200 plus exercise calories, so usually around 1400 on a day I exercise. I wasn't counting before but I know I must have been eating way more than that, as the allowance seems very low, have really had to cut right down on snacks and on portion sizes to come anywhere near it!

knottyhair · 23/05/2011 19:40

I'm not on MFP but something similar and I'm on 1130 before exercise, to lose 1lb a week (5' 4", currently 9st 11lb). It makes you do the bloody exercise every day, that's all I can say! I also find the surrenders really hard. Can just about manage with 2kg but I am nearly crying at the end of them Blush.

notyummy · 23/05/2011 19:50

Surrenders are really hard!

1130 doesn't sound like much at all! Can you add to it if you exercise?

notyummy · 23/05/2011 19:51

Oh, and well done on the loss Jackster!

gracelesslady · 23/05/2011 20:18

jackster i've started MFP too!! also supposed to do 1200 every day, but it really varies - on days i work i eat loads more and end up about 1600, but prob because i do a 13-14 hour day/night and i just need more. have been told off today for only eating 1100 and something, but am not hungry. hey ho. am finding it peculiar to log food and think about it rather than just eating what i want, but the first week, i lost 3lbs and an inch off my bum. who'd have thought eating less and exercising would cause you to lose weight and shrink... Wink

did L1 again today, i think it might be my favourite :o

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 23/05/2011 21:00

I couldn't survive on 1100 calories. I struggled with 1600 particularly when adding the extras in, for example milk in coffee etc. I'm cutting out snacks and watching portion size, the weight is slowly shifting.

knottyhair · 24/05/2011 08:18

It's not too bad actually, particularly if I exercise. A typical day would be cereal & skimmed milk or a piece of toast for breakfast, fruit mid-morning, some kind of soup (under 200 cals) for lunch, maybe a ryvita with something on or a few crisps if I'm still hungry. I usually have a biscuit after the school run, and I've got a load of recipes for dinner for between 350 and 500 cals depending on what I've got left. Plus I have enough for another piece of fruit and 100 cals worth of chocolate in the evening. I also factor in skimmed milk for coffee during the day. For me, I have to structure the day around the way I eat, i.e. I'm a "picker" so I make sure I spread the calories to include snacks etc., and if I allow myself things like a little bit of chocolate, a few crisps (I have to weigh EVERYTHING!), then I don't feel like I "can't" have anything IYKWIM. I only drink water or coffee so I don't use up any calories on squash/alcohol/fizzy drinks etc. I've also found a biscuit (Bahlsen Afrika) which is only 22 cals but good if I really fancy something sweet, they're tiny! If I have a day like this, and do a Shred or another Jillian DVD, it seems to work. I've lost about 1.5 stone since the end of Jan, so it's a slow loss, but I've lost every week bar two. I'll stop waffling now Blush.
