Well done Venetia. I think you are right and your muscles are growing.

Most of us took measurements with a tape measure as you are likely to lose inches and not lbs to start with. You will be shifting the flab but at the same time you are growing muscles so you may not see a change in the scales for a while. So it's reassuring to see the numbers change on the tape measure. Someone (?) suggested measuring in cm too and not inches as it's more satisfying!

She does that "almost done..........

..........just five more" type of thing quite a lot - grrrrrr!

Keep going though - it'll be so worth it

knottyhair · 20/05/2011 10:38

My favourite is "when it starts to feel uncomfortable, that's when they're doing the most good". Bollocks is it!! I do love her though. Just did a NMTZ and I really like it, but I did phone in the last set of windshield wipers Blush. It's my weigh-in day today and have lost another 1.75lbs, despite a weekend of going over my allowance as we were staying with friends. Have lost almost 1.5 stone since end of January, trying to do it slowly but steadily which works better for me.

flatmouse · 20/05/2011 10:39

TooTired that was my reaction to 6W6P - i percevered (can't spell but hopefully you'll know what i mean!) with Level 1 but got v disheartened with L2.

3Steps not sure i can talk to someone who LIKES burpees Wink

Missed 3 days due to general madness but managed Shred L1D4 this morning (2kg) - still finding hard with these weights and still hopeless at pressups!
It's the big 4-0 tomorrow, and i bought a dress (i don't generally wear dresses) and i was pleasantly suprised by the look. Bless JM and her extreme torture :)

Happy Birthday for tomorrow flatmouse! It's mine on Monday, but I'll never see 4-0 again Smile.

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 20/05/2011 20:24

flatmouse happy birthday for tomorrow - have a day off and revel in your awesomeness.

It will have been a month since I started my JM DVD spree tomorrow, hoping to see a few inches dropped. did 6w6p for 2nd time today, definitely put more effort in and got a much better work out from it as was more familiar with moves.

chocolateshoes · 20/05/2011 21:38

happy birthday for tomorrow Flatmouse. Checking in L3D5 done. Now zonked on the sofa

notyummy · 20/05/2011 22:23

11 mile run today whilst a bit achey from my NMTZ yesterday. Pleased with time though- managed 8 minute miles throughout. Yoga tomorrow!

Happy birthday Flatmouse.

TooTiredToArgue · 21/05/2011 07:53

Morning all

chocshoes I've been shredding for about a month and a half, i think . Have completed my 30 days, anyway, and 1 day at 6W6P, which was pretty horrendous!

Flatmouse Shall we start a 'I hate burpess' club? They are vile things. Can't seem to get my hands in the right place and my wrists end up hurting. Any tips, anyone? Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Have a great day, and a Wine or 3 2 tonight. You deserve it.

On a more positive note, saw 2 friends yesterday I haven't seen for about a month. Both commented (without prompting) that I looked thinner and 'more toned'. Oh, the pleasure! You see, it is worth it, and that's all with 1kg weights Blush

Knotty Do you prefer NMTZ to 6W6P? Is the format more similar to the Shred with the different levels/circuits. Can't decide whether to try 6W6P again this morning, or stick with 30DS Level 3, which I can do and really like. Oh, decision, decisions..... Smile

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 21/05/2011 08:08

One month in, 5lbs dropped , 8.75 inches gone, am glad all the pain is paying off. Only an inch from my hips though, maybe am destined to have huge arse! Have noticed firming up in other places that are too difficult to measure though, that bit between your armpit and top of bust, much less flabby, all those planks and press ups!

Carry on shredding!

knottyhair · 21/05/2011 08:20

TooTired, I like both to be honest, and still like shredding. NMTZ is 7 x 6 min circuits, strength based stuff with weights and mat work, although the warm-up is cardio. But you do work hard, with it being Jillian, there's no rest! It's about 50 mins including warm up and cool down. 6W6P is about 35 mins including warm up and cool down, and she takes you through the routine once, then repeats it at a faster pace. There's a bit of cardio in there (plank jacks, mountain climbers etc) and the first few moves are done with a weight. That's Level 1, Level 2 is a whole other story! I've only tried it once and it was really hard! I think notyummy has done it more often and is probably in a better position to comment than me Blush! If you like cardio stuff more than strength, then BFBM follows the same format as NMTZ but doesn't use weights and is more aerobic. HTH.

knottyhair · 21/05/2011 08:21

Oh and great results Tootired and Thisis Smile!

TooTiredToArgue · 21/05/2011 08:22

Well done, signofthetimes. Great progress. 'Amazing job', our Jillian would say!

Oh, and just to say I completely agree about Jillian's 'nearly there', 'just a couple more' lies! I find this particularly when I'm lying on the floor doing the scissor crunches in Level 3 and she says, 'nearly there', and my stomach is trembling with effort, 'just 10 more', she says, as my whole body quivers in agony. Surely must be the slowest 10 seconds ever.....

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 21/05/2011 08:34

tootired, I like both 6w6p and nmtz. I've started rotating them all but tend to arrange so that I do nmtz at weekends when I have more time. Think I might get bfbm as well though. those last 10 secs of scissors are a killer, especially as you are trying to hold your stomach in. I must say every time she says "just a couple more" or "another 5 seconds", I just think "you lying cow"

TooTiredToArgue · 21/05/2011 08:45

Thanks for feedback knotty and thisisasign. 50 mins seems like a very long time , but more doable at weekends.

Must stop posting and get cracking. Sun shining and no school run to contend with. Hurrah!

knottyhair · 21/05/2011 08:49

50 mins is a long time! But with BFBM and NMTZ you do have the option of just doing certain circuits. I tend to do all of NMTZ when I have the time, but often do just 4 circuits of BFBM, which takes about half an hour. I've done it all the way through once, and it nearly killed me was very challenging. I definitely prefer strength to cardio Blush.

Jacksterbear · 21/05/2011 10:47

Happy bday flatmouse! And well done on the results thisis!

My NMTZ and BFBM dvds arrived, have just done BFBM, first 4 circuits only. And I finally know what burpees are!! Also, those 180 degree things... wtf?!!

BalloonSlayer · 21/05/2011 13:05

Hi all!

Well done to everyone.

Knottyhair, your reviews of the other Jillian DVDs are useful, as I am thinking of ordering another one. I think I might go for BFBM.

I got on the scales yesterday before doing 6W6P and saw to my delight that they said I was 9st on the nose. I was so chuffed! My goal weight is to get under 9 stone. I thought I should easily manage to sweat off a quarter of a pound, so I tried really really really hard at 6W6P and breathlessly weighed myself afterwards to find I was . . . 9st 1lb. Bastard scales had obviously just been teasing me! Grin

However, I do need to make a new hole in my belt so I am very pleased about that.

I feel so much fitter too and proud of what I can do. I am so pleased I started shredding and grateful for the help, advice and support on this thread.

notyummy · 21/05/2011 13:45

Great results Balloon and Sign!

With BFBM it is def worth doing all the way through to see what the circuits are like because some are much harder than others IMHO. If you are short of time then you can choose the 4 hardest and push yourself a la the Shred. The same applies to NMTz- last circuits quite easy, so if short of time then could leave them out.

Did my yoga today. Was nice to have a stretch after 2 hard days!

Jacksterbear · 21/05/2011 14:48

LOL Balloonslayer my scales do exactly the same thing (although in my case they hover around the 10 stone mark). Conspiracy! Grin

chocolateshoes · 21/05/2011 17:58

well done Balloon Slayer - a hole in your belt is pretty good!!! L3D6 done. Yay!

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 21/05/2011 18:01

My scales do that as well, it is a conspiracy!

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 22/05/2011 09:07

Went out for bike ride yesterday and by the time I got back my knee was hurting and still is this morning. Don't know whether it's just the ride or all the other stuff as well, so I'm going to have to be careful over the next couple of days, think I shall just do some ab and arm work. At least having done all these routines I think I can manage to put something together, won't be the same as having her shouting "don't you quit on me" though.

notyummy · 22/05/2011 10:25

Was going to try and do a run this morning whilst DH is here, but I think I would literally get blown away. I am going to double shred with him instead (deep groan - it's good in a way, but soooo hard as I can't let myself slack off AT ALL because someone else is doing it too and I am inately competitive!)

notyummy · 22/05/2011 10:27

Oh and 6W6Pers, DH has started doing it whilst away in the week for work and says he particularly hates the spider press-ups straight into mountain climbers on L1. He has only done the first half of L2 thus far because he finds the cordination too much (to be fair, he was doing that straight after L1, so not really wimping out!)

trumpton · 22/05/2011 11:12

D5 L3 done. Missed sat as was just too lazy buzy but today was fun. £ hour dabnce rehearsal today but mostly blocking out so not really energetic.

DD also doing it most days her shape is def becoming more definrd.
