Hi ladies.

Got back on the Shred today despite having a long and stressful day. Managed to squeeze it in before picking up kids. Feel so much better for it.

Not sure how I'll manage to do it tomorrow unless I get up at about 5am, as have hectic day. Got a long walk up and down hill with hefty 2.5 yr old in a buggy after nursery pick up, though, so a bit of strength and cardio at least Smile

threestepsforward · 17/05/2011 19:38

yes Choc, fantastic news about the promotion, I reckon that's a well deserved night off Grin

Notyummy your exercise days sound full-on, and really impressive! I used to be a total gym bunny in my 20s - sometimes twice a day, but I don't think I could muster the energy now, although Shred has put some spring back in my step!

Thisis thanks for the info, just arming myself with what I need to know before I start 6W6P...I've read that L2 is awful and hard!

Do you 6W6P'ers feel you get as much from that as the Shred? Or more even?

Did L3 today after the house invadors finally left. Didn't really work up much of a sweat, although I didn't think I was slacking, but I could have been subconsciously toning it down because of my ankle, which seems to have held up well which is good news...

Keep on keeping on, everyone sounds like they're doing great Smile

trumpton · 17/05/2011 21:08

Moved up to L3 today. Yuk Yuk Yuk but walked to school and ran 4 dance classes . Managed to hit 11st 7lb from 11st 12lb when i started 20 days ago. Trousers much better.

littledolly · 17/05/2011 22:00

Well done trumpton - that's fab!

I did L2 D4 today - did days 1 and 2 last week, but hadn't done Jillian since last Wednesday when I got back to it yesterday and found last night really tough. Tonight was better though in that it seemed to go faster, but I still sweated like mad - I don't think I ever fully understood the meaning of the phrase 'sweat dripping off you' until Jillian came into my life!

Am really focusing on my eating this week, as I have about 2 stone to loose, and want to get at least half of that off before I go to Spain in early July.

For those of you who do other exercise on top of Shredding, do you find it makes much difference to your weight loss, or is shredding enough on it's own?

trumpton · 18/05/2011 08:11

D2 L3--- in a rush. Going to have shower because I am a sweaty lump. Gosh it makes me feel gooood.

knottyhair · 18/05/2011 10:27

Just done a L1 6W6P. Definitely phoned in the last set of mountain climbers, but did manage the little jump after each burpee. Can't quite face attempting L2 again yet though. Maybe next week....

threestepsforward · 18/05/2011 15:33

Afternoon All Smile

Well my 6W6P has arrived and I may try it this evening after everyone has left the house.

Knotty and all you other 6W6P'ers, can I ask you, does this only target abs, or does it give you a pretty overall workout rather like the Shred?

I'm debating: if I have time this evening, should I stick with another L3 Shred or brave level 1 of 6W6P?

Am quite excited actually [saddo emoticon]!!

knottyhair · 18/05/2011 16:40

threestepsforward, I've only done L1 really so far (tried L2 once and nearly died Blush), and I'd say whilst the emphasis is on the core, it definitely works other areas. There are a few squats, lunges and lots of plank stuff which obviously does arms & legs. And although it's not cardio heavy, I definitely work up a sweat. The warm up is mainly cardio actually, and she incorporates mountain climbers and plank jacks into the main workout, and as usual with Jillian, the pace is quick so you do feel like you've worked bloody hard. Or I do anyway, I guess it depends how fit you are!

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 18/05/2011 17:47

threesteps, did work up a bit of a sweat with 6w6p but not as much as shred.

littledolly I don't think the shred on it's own will shift much weight. I think you have to pretty strict with your food as well. I've been doing various JM dvd's over the last 3.5 weeks and I've lost about 3lbs. That's from being quite careful in cutting out snacks and portion control plus I walk about 2.5 miles 3-4 days a week (quickly) and do a couple of bike rides or around 15 miles. What I have noticed though is that I have lost inches and my clothes are much looser. I think you have to get away from what weight you are and focus more on what you look like (and how you feel). Measure yourself each week. I wasn't going to do any exercise today but having written this I'm off to do DVD, question is which one?

threestepsforward · 18/05/2011 17:50

Thanks knotty Smile

Builders left house earlier than expected so I did it!! It was good and bad. I hate doing something for the first time as I don't know what she's on about and you waste lots of time watching to find out what you should be doing.

But I certainly worked up a sweat, even though there doesn't seem to be as much cardio as in Shred and... [whispers]... I liked the burpies... I've realised I like the exercises that have jumps in them!

I found it quite difficult to keep up as I didn't know what was coming next, but I guess that aspect gets better the more you do it...

Feeling all bouncy now Grin
Happy evenings all

Jacksterbear · 18/05/2011 18:05

Well done 3steps!

Still waiting for new dvds to arrive, in the meantime did a L2 shred today. Was feeling all pleased with myself for doing all the double jump ropes in circuit 3rd for the 1st time - but had forgotten about those damned plank twists afterwards!

VenetiaLanyon · 19/05/2011 14:05

Hello, Shred virgin here just stopping in to say hello!

Level 1 Day 3; am trying to combine it with calorie counting to lose a bit of weight (about 20lbs) as I've plateaued on low carb diets, and also to get a bit fitter / some more energy. Am getting up earlier before work, and desperately hoping that I can keep this going...to this end it would be massively helpful if results started to show sooner rather than later...Grin

trumpton · 19/05/2011 15:09

Checking in to say D3 L3 done. Weight not changing much but I am feeling better in my skin IFYWIM. Grin

threestepsforward · 19/05/2011 15:36

Thanks Jackster Grin

Trumpton, I know exactly what you mean! I haven't noticed much change in my body for a while, but Shredding definitely makes me feel better in my skin...

Hello Venetia Smile ...stick with it, I reckon you will start seeing results between 1 and 2 weeks, although everyone is different. I'm sure after around 1 week, I noticed my waistbands on my jeans were definitely looser.

Well, if I can tonight, I've decided I will try L1 of 6W6P, followed by L3 Shred Shock. I like the cardio element of Shred, and also like even more that L3 seems to target the bum!

Having said that, when the time comes around, I may well be found sitting on said bum eating m&m's!

Hope everyone's having a good day Smile

notyummy · 19/05/2011 17:04

Threesteps - good luck with that plan!! I have never attempted anything after L2 6W6P - I am not sure if I could tbh. Might be better trying L3 Shred first -then try L2 6W6P. Either way, don't do yourslef an injury...that is a BIG ask, if you are using weights/hard version for both. You will deserve a lie down afterwards!

have just done NMTZ. Using 3kg was officially HARD WORK - however I do find the last couple of circuits pretty easy tbh. Could finsih all the surrenders with 3 kg - had to drop down.

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 19/05/2011 18:10

not yummy 3kg on surrenders! I had to give up the weights totally, can see I'm going to have to get going. I 'm having a night off though, done 4 days in a row, am letting my muscles rest and repair!

notyummy · 19/05/2011 18:19

OMG - meant to say I COULDNT finish all the surrenders with 3 kg!! Did about half and then dropped down to 1.5 kg.

TooTiredToArgue · 19/05/2011 18:20

Hello all

Got my 6w6p yesterday, and tried it out with trepidation. Have to say, initial impressions not good. I miss the Shred 3-2-1 circuits (I like to know what's coming) and strangely missed Nadalee and Anita. The new girls seem a bit bland in comparison, somehow. And was all over the place when she ups the tempo and does everything in double time.

Hate, hate, hate the burpees! And more mountain climbers! Yuck, yuck, yuck.

I definitely wasn't as sweaty at the end as I am with the Shred. Has anyone else found that?

notyummy · 19/05/2011 18:33

I don't sweat as much after L1- I definitely do after L2 6W6P! I think it takes longer to 'get!' than the Shred as the routine is a bit more complex.

notyummy · 19/05/2011 18:35

I hate to say it but generally when I really hate something (like jumping lunges... ) it is usually because they are working me REALLY hard. And that's probably a good thing, isn't it? Just not fun at that exact moment...

threestepsforward · 19/05/2011 19:18

Notyummy - don't worry, level 1 6W6P, not level 2!! I'm treating L2 like a dangerous caged animal that I won't be approaching for a good while yet!

Well done you on 3kg! I use 2 kg and I certainly struggle with some of the Shred strength sessions with them. I think my arms would fall off with 3 kg!

Tootired I definitely haven't sweated as much with 6W6P L1, but reckon that might be because I'm still a bit behind all the time as it's new. I did manage L1 followed by L3 Shred tonight as I didn't feel pushed as much as I have been with Shred.

I reckon following it with a Level 1 or 2 Shred might be harder actually as level 3 has lots of lying down Grin

Am off for the weekend tomorrow so will check back in next week. Hope everyone has a great weekend Smile
x

chocolateshoes · 19/05/2011 19:43

back on track after 2 days off Blush L3D4 done. Actually managing to keep up more with Nathalie apart from the abs. Am with you Trumpton - can't see any differnece but surely must be doing some good. Tried on bikini today ready for holiday and it looks so awful. Problem is it doesn't motivate me to do something - just makes me think I'm wasting my time.

TooTiredToArgue · 19/05/2011 20:12

chocshoes don't be down heartened. I had exactly the same moment in a changing room soon after starting the Shred.

I definitely think it is worth it. Although I've got a way to go, and still hate jumping lunges/mountain climbers/burpees with a passion, I do feel better and more energetic generally. And my clothes are definitely looser.

Threesteps hats off to you following on from 6w6p with L3 shred. I struggled maintaining a standing position afterwards (despite def phoning it in on 2nd round of burpees and mountain climbers). And is it just me, or has Jilllian overdone the fake tan just a tad?

chocolateshoes · 19/05/2011 21:42

how long have you been doing it TooTired? Back from Zumba now. Shattered. Too tired to hold my arms up to wash my hair but I better had!!

VenetiaLanyon · 20/05/2011 09:41

Morning all; Day 4 of L1, and just want to say that there's a moment when Jillian says "just a couple more", and then carries on for bloomin' ages afterwards that I'm beginning to hate....apart from that, I don't seem to be quite so stiff this am -could my muscles be starting to resign themselves to this torture...?
