p.s. I am seriously unfit - I was dying on Days 1-3 of the Shred, but amazing how quickly you feel fitter, isn't it?

knottyhair · 16/05/2011 09:52

Hi ManicAnnie! Well done on completing your first week!

Just did a Level 1 Shred after a Jillian-free week due to illness - found it surprisingly tough Blush! Am planning a L3 tomorrow, the whole NMTZ on Weds, L1 6W6P on Thursday and possibly a L2 6W6P on Friday if I can gird my loins enough Grin.

flatmouse · 16/05/2011 09:58

Trying not to plan too much ahead here - as that just opens me up to disappointing myself!
Welcome Manic ! As i understand it 2 days "off" from exercise during the week is a good idea to give your muscles time to recover/rebuild.
L1D3 done this morning - i'm really noticing the achiness using these 2kg weights - i didn't really get this with the 1kg weights - so it makes me feel like i'm achieving something!!
And i totally agree with whoever commented that the first lot of weights/strength in L1 is the hardest out of all 30DS !

Wow notyummy that's impressive, especially with your dh away so much.

Feeling a bit meh today. After doing the first 2 days of level on on Thurs and Friday, I went running to the loo on Friday night and have been off colour since Sad. Add to that dd1 ending up at A&E last night (turned out to be a case of croup - it had got far better by the time they were seen so dh was a bit Blush) so hardly any sleep for me last night and no time to do anything this evening (I go out on a Monday). So, I've done 2 days and now missed 3 Blush and feeling a bit useless.

threestepsforward · 16/05/2011 10:15

Morning all and hello to ManicAnnie! It doesn't take long for you to start feeling fitter does it?

Well no Shredding for me over the weekend because of my ankle. It feels loads better today but I'm going to leave any exercise until tomorrow so it gets a proper chance to rest. I may do some of the L3 strength moves just so I don't feel I've done nothing though!

I have bravely ordered 6W6P. It will be waiting for me to start in a few weeks time [scared emoticon]

knottyhair · 16/05/2011 10:35

Crafty, it can be so hard when you start getting into it and then you get ill, or other stuff happens. Hope you get better soon and your DD is OK. I've done my first Shred in just over a week this morning as I had a cold/cough and whilst it was nice to get back to it, there was no way it would have done me any good whilst feeling minky Smile.

Jacksterbear · 16/05/2011 11:43

Ok I have ordered BFBM and NMTZ - decided on these rather than 6W6P mainly because I want to work on my legs and bum not my tummy, so need to a) lose weight overall, hence cardio - BFBM, and b) tone my bum and thigh muscles with NMTZ. Should be here by Wed!

Jacksterbear · 16/05/2011 15:16

Jacksterbear on Sunday 17th April at 12:18:00:
"D6L1 done and feeling on a bit of a low ebb again after really buzzing on days 3-5. Now I'm just knackered! And my shoulders/arms are like lead (and that's only with 1kg weights - Lord knows how you do it with 2kgs!)."

Just wanted to share the progress I've made in a month - L1 done today with 2kg weights!

gracelesslady · 16/05/2011 16:37

woo woo jacksterbear!!!! it is amazing isn't it?! i did L1 with 2kgs (apart from the last side lunge/lateral raise thing. back to 1kg for that because it is rock hard) and i LIKED it!! amazing... :o

crafty don't feel useless - we've all had days (sometimes lots of days) when we couldn't do it but it's the overall commitment that makes the difference. i kept a little diary for the first 6 or 7 weeks and even with work/sore knees/kids etc, i managed way more than i thought i had. and this thread is amazingly supportive. hang in there matey :)

sorry about your ankle threesteps hope the rest has made a big difference when you get back to it.

and hi everyone else - have to dash to get kids!!

xxx

threestepsforward · 16/05/2011 19:45

Thanks graceless Smile You sound like you're doing great. It does feel more than a bit amazing when you power through a level you'd struggled with or 'gargled your heart' doing the last time round doesn't it.

Definitely on the mend but am taking it easy.
Today I did L3 but any ankle-enemy bits I substituted for something else. So I did shadow boxing all the way through the cardio bits [boring] and V-raise thingies for the jumping lunges [nightmare].

Didn't really feel 'worked out' as such, but am just pleased to have done something today, however small it felt.

Have ordered 6W6P, which has just dispatched apparently, and might try level 1 of that, if I'm brave enough, once I'm back in full working order Smile

Hope everyone is having a lovely evening

ManicAnnie · 16/05/2011 19:49

Hi all. Thanks for the welcome! Getting inspiration just reading all your posts.

I have had a dodgy tummy today (tmi, sorry!) so haven't done any exercise, but am starting to feel better, so am back on the Shred tomorrow.

Aiming to do it five times this week and to go up to L2 at some stage. Shall report back.

notyummy · 16/05/2011 20:05

Jackster - that is great! Really shows the progress.

5 mile run today as less time. Trying to get my time down to 37 minutes....but its just not happening!

chocolateshoes · 16/05/2011 20:42

L3D3 done - it seems to be getting more difficult!!! How many calories do you reckon we burn off per shred????

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 16/05/2011 21:28

I was going to do a few more days of 30ds, but my new JM DVD's turned up today and I couldn't resist. So off I went on 6w6p. Glad I have done the shred as the cardio wasn't too bad (except the burpees), but wasn't doing full sets on some moves as was trying to get the form right, I struggled on balancing for the side planks. I await trying to get up tomorrow morning with interest!

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 16/05/2011 21:34

chocolateshoes, I've seen some estimates of around 180-200 cals for shred, not bad for only 20 mins.

threestepsforward · 17/05/2011 08:36

Morning all!
ThisisaSign how are you feeling this morning after 6W6P?

knottyhair · 17/05/2011 10:02

Gordon bloody Bennett. Just did a Level 3 Shred and it was HARD! The last time I did it, I managed all Natalie moves. Today, I had to do Anita style pike crunches, a few Anita travelling push-ups and the rock star jumps hurt my knee so substituted them for more star jumps with weights. Did manage 2kg for everything apart from bizarrely the boxing cardio thing - had to use 1.5kg for those Blush. I'm really noticing my Jillian-free week last week. Was going to do NMTZ all the way through tomorrow but think I might do Level 1 6W6P instead for fear I may pass out Grin.

craftynclothy · 17/05/2011 11:18

Dd1 getting a bit better so am keeping my fingers crossed she'll go to bed ok and stay there this evening and I can fit shredding in.

I'm currently using tins of beans for weights, does anyone have any recommendations for proper weights?

Jacksterbear · 17/05/2011 11:59

chocshoes, My Fitness Pal says 185 cals burned for a 25 min "intense aerobic" session, which I reckon 30DS counts as!

gracelesslady · 17/05/2011 14:15

L3 done, have lost count of which day as it's becoming obvious i'm not just doing this for 30 days, i'm very definitely in it for the long haul! i feel quite proud of myself - felt really rubbish before, very tired and quite sad but i made myself start and now i feel knackered but better :)

how's everyone else today?

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 17/05/2011 17:28

threestepsforward, I'm ok , bit aching around the obliques. I'm either going to cop it tomorrow as the day after the day after is usually worse or because I was paying a lot of attention to getting the moves right I didn't do as many reps (I wasn't phoning it in though honest!) so have not put myself through the full horror. I'm just going off to do nmtz now, so one way or the other I think I'm going to be in for pain tomorrow!

chocolateshoes · 17/05/2011 18:10

am thinking off phoning in tonight I'm afraid - got promoted today Smile and have already had a glass of white with DH to celebrate!!!

notyummy · 17/05/2011 18:18

Congrats on the promotion Choc!

Thisis- well done on sticking with it! Hard work like this will definitely pay off.

Nothing for me today. Just finished a run of 5 fairly intensive days on the trot, and today and tomorrow are manic at work so nothing until Thursday.

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 17/05/2011 18:57

yep, I'm going to feel that tomorrow and probably the day after. although no cardio did manage to get quite a sweat up but did do all circuits with 2 or 2.5kgs apart from 2nd set of surrenders which I had to drop to 1kg. Glad I have been doing 30ds as I don't think I would have coped.

Quite like the old school mat work at the end, I have 6 weeks before I need to buy that wetsuit and present a slightly smaller target for the whaling fleet so I'm determined to keep going.

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 17/05/2011 19:00

choc well done on the promotion, definitely a valid reason for phoning it in!
