hiya jellibelli - not really. i weigh 8 st 12 ish, sometimes a bit more sometimes a bit less, and before having the last baby was around 8 stone, again give or take a few pounds. i don't really care how much i weigh, it's more the size of my arse that bothers me!! i've got flabby bits round my tummy waist and bum and really wouldn't mind swopping a few pounds of fat for a few pounds of muscle and just getting a bit firmer all over. i've got loads of size 8 clothes, and can't get into them. or i can get into them, but the muffin top is really unattractive Wink

i suspect the reason for my intermittent annoyance is that being a decent weight and being only a flabby size 10, i thought a few months of exercise would whip me into shape. and it hasn't cos i'm still exactly the same. after the first two babies, i lost about a stone very quickly (over 6 weeks or so) as soon as i stopped breastfeeding. i thought that would happen this time and it hasn't.... anyway, thanks for asking. i'm a very stubborn woman and am determined that three kids will not prohibit bikini wearing when we go on holiday in august!! :o xx

BalloonSlayer · 13/05/2011 20:53

Hi Jelli, thank you so much for asking about me!

I did a Level 2 Shred instead today but I Tried Very Hard and got more knackered than I have ever done before with it.

I will try again with L2 6W6P when I feel I have the chance.

I am SO grateful for your - and other posters' - support and encouragement. I can't tell you how very much it means.

littledolly · 13/05/2011 21:18

I went to the gym this morning so no shred today. Managed 30 mins running on the treadmill and felt brilliant all day - haven't run so far in years! Actually missed Jillian today though so looking forward to shredding tomorrow, even though it's level 2!
Still trying to focus on my diet to try to shift pounds, but have def noticed a HUGE reduction in my cellulite. Given that I booked flights to Spain in July this week, that can't be a bad thing!

threestepsforward · 13/05/2011 21:54

Evening all!

Not had a chance to read through properly but just checking in to say hello.

Managed to fit in a L3 Shred today but did phone it in a bit. Have had a twingey ankle and an old muscle strain that feels like it's flared up again on the side of my thigh (is that still your thigh or is it called something else Confused). But the stupid stubborn goat that I am pushed on to the end as I haven't done anything for 2 days.

If anything is sore tomorrow I will leave it for the weekend and see how I'm feeling on Monday. Jacksterbear was it you who said they were feeling twitchy after missing a day? I totally get that!

Onwards and upwards Shredders Smile. Hope everyone has a fab weekend...

Jacksterbear · 14/05/2011 09:08

threesteps, yeah that was me!

knotty and thisis agree re Davina; after my day off on thurs I did super sculpt last night, and was not anywhere near as sweaty and out of breath as after a L2/3 shred. Also annoying how they stand around for ages in between sections. I love how the shred pushes me right to the limit of my endurance: every time I do it I get that feeling of "I can't, I can't, no I can and I will, oh wow I've done it!"

Having said that I do now realise how much I'd been phoning it in with other dvds and it made me put much more effort in. Great JM lesson:don't phone it in, you're only cheating yourself!

flatmouse · 14/05/2011 10:25

Why wait til Monday? I restarted shred today D1L1 with 2nd weights. Did low-impact cardio and actually found it harder work than the norm
With the added benefit of keeping calf intact!

It was somewhat obvious from the scarlet faced sweaty mess I became that I was put of practice.

So to cool down i did a 1 mile jog around the block (with DS who prob ran twice the distance as he'd run at his pave then double back to me etc)
My legs are jelly now but once again very pleased calf ok and gave a baseline 1 mile time with plenty of room for improvement!

All in all, I'm a happy bunny :)

oh goodness - did L3D1 today and it was HARD!!!! I thoguht you all said L3 was easier than L2. Ouf!

BalloonSlayer · 14/05/2011 13:45

I did a Level1 Shred today and I still think the circuit 1 weights and cardio are the hardest things in the whole shred. My legs felt like they belonged to someone else afterwards.

notyummy · 14/05/2011 19:02

Chocolate - I think L3 is quite hard cardio wise, so if that is not your strong point then it will def seem tough.

I have had a hard few days exercise wise. L2 6W6P plus some tough pilates on Thursday. 10 mile run yesterday and then Ls 2 and 3 Shred this morning with DH (used 3 kg apart from the V raises.) I have decided that tomorrow is going to be slightly less punishing - possibly some yoga and then a quick tabata session on the cross trainer. (Although that is 4 minutes of hell....but only 4 minutes so doable.)

chocolateshoes · 14/05/2011 19:21

My goodness Notyummy how do you fit it all in? Am glad that even you can't manage the 3k on the V raises. I could do it if I did alternate ones with JM but could never keep up with her on 3k for that killer exercise. Am hoping that day2 tomorrow will be better for me on L3 now I know what to expect!

notyummy · 14/05/2011 19:30

Fitting it all in is a challenge! I work Monday to Thursday with a 2 1/2 commute, plus DH is military and away all but 4 days a month at the moment. (Sigh...) DD has now started school so I can fit my long run in on Friday. If I work from home (which I usually do 3/4 times a month) then I fit something in then, and I always do something on both Saturday and Sunday - if DH is away then I can't run but will do a DVD or use the crosstrainer. I leave home at 6 20 everyday so I don't do anything in the morning, but if I get home with DD before 5 30 (which occasionally happens if I have a meeting near home) then I try and do a 20/30 minute workout after her tea at around 6 15 before bath/stories. I am not good at motivating myself to do anything in the evening beyond 7pm. I just want to switch off then!

gracelesslady · 15/05/2011 06:37

Shock (bows down low to the wonder of notyummy!!!) i think jillian would be very impressed as well!!!

TooTiredToArgue · 15/05/2011 09:06

Indeed bows down to notyummy. No wonder you have a six pack!

Haven't posted for a while. Have rather run out of steam on the whole Shred thing. I think it's because I finished the 30 days and then wasn't sure what to do next. Have done a day here and there, but not every day like before. And I still can't do the vile jumping lunges. Gah, i hate them.

Can someone help re-invigorate me? Will 6w6p help transform me into some goddess on the beach come August? Or am I destined never to lose the flab and should I just accept the fact and move on?

notyummy · 15/05/2011 14:49

Tootired- 6W6P is good and really works you hard. It depends what you feel you need- apart from 6W6P , most of the other JM ones are a bit mor biased to either cardio or strength, and not as mixed as the Shred. I also highly rate Billy Blanks Bootcamp workout.

Less high impact day today. Great yoga session followed by a v short (but tough!) tabata session on the crosstrainer.

TooTiredToArgue · 15/05/2011 16:05

Thanks, notyummy. 6w6p on order from amazon. Think I should alternate that with 30 day shred, and up my weights. Blush to admit I'm still only using 1kg weights at the mo - maybe that's why my results haven't been as good as some of you others.

I know I should try to exercise early in the morning, to get it out of the way, but my DC don't sleep well (or all night), and I'm loathe to get up even earlier than I currently do.

Last week tried shredding after dropping DS1 off at school, which meant I hadn't showered or washed my hair. My school playground is full of very smart yummy mummies, so I tried the arriving-last-minute-and-running-off-technique, but it still wasn't ideal. Ho hum, excuses, excuses....

Jacksterbear · 15/05/2011 16:35

notyummy which bootcamp one do u recommend? Searched Amazon and there are a few. Am already a Billy fan through tae bo so would be interested to get more of him. Can't decide which JM dvd to buy! 6w6p looks seriously hardcore! But nmtz and bfbm seem to need to be alternated so I'd need to get both I think!

notyummy · 15/05/2011 16:51

This is the Billy one we have. It is hard!

chocolateshoes · 15/05/2011 17:24

Very impressive Notyummy! As JM would say 'amazing job'! L3D2 today - hate those rock star jumps at the end. Need to start planning what to do once I get to the end.....am noting all suggestions!

notyummy · 15/05/2011 17:33

Jackster - L1 of 6W6P not too bad. I REALLY noticed a difference with L2 though. It gets easier when you master the routinne - but the exercises seem complex at first.

Jacksterbear · 15/05/2011 18:32

Thanks notyummy Smile

JelliBelli · 15/05/2011 18:35

I like L1 of 6W6P Grin as there is lots of lying on the floor involved Grin

I agree with notyummy in that L2 is much harder and that it does get better as you get to know the moves. i still think it was jolly hard work but I was pleased with myself for finishing without phoning it in.

TooTiredToArgue · 15/05/2011 19:43

Ah, then I should be Ok then Jelli. I'm good at lying on the floor Grin

ManicAnnie · 15/05/2011 21:01

Hi all. Can I join?

I have just finished my first week of shredding. I haven't lost any weight or noticed any difference in my figure at all, but I do feel much more flexible, energetci and just fitter, so not all bad Grin.

In fairness I 'only' shredded (L1) on Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri and today. I had Weds off as my day was hectic, and did Darcey Bussell pilates vid for an hour on Sat morning.

I am going to attempt this week to:

Shred at L1 Mon, Tue & Wed
Then go up to L2 on Thu for rest of the week.

I've been usig tins of beans as weights, but have ordered a set of hand weights as the beans arent really cutting it.

I'm trying to lose about 10 lbs and get a bit fitter. Would really appreciate some support/banter, so hope it's OK if I crash in to the thread without knowing all your backgrounds!
