threestepsforward, thanks, I'm getting better. Exercised today for the first time in a week and did a Davina to see how it went, and it's so easy after Jillian! Back shredding tomorrow I think. And can I just say, I'm completely in awe of notyummy, in the (incorrect) words of Jillian, "she's aspirational!" Grin

notyummy · 12/05/2011 18:47

Thanks Knotty. I love the difference that hard exercise has made to my body. I am smaller/more toned now than at nearly any other time in my adult life, and although there have been a couple of times I have weighed slightly less than now over the last 20 years, it is generally because I was going about it in a unhealthy and unsustainable way. I still have a pair of jeans that I bought when I was 21 and have kept as a 'barometer' and I easily fit them now (was not always the case!) And I eat some cake everyday. Grin I am not Elle Macpherson - would say I am size 10 in most shops, and 5ft 10 so not teeny tiny - but I am happy with myself. (Would still swap for smaller arse if I got half a chance though!)

God, I hope I don't sound like a smug bitch. Really not what I was intending to do.

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 12/05/2011 19:05

notyummy, think I will mix and match once I have done a few sessions of level 3 and got my new DVDs. I can't manage more than 2.5kgs at the moment.

JelliBelli · 12/05/2011 19:14

Notyummy we know you're not smug Grin.

Balloon Don't feel Sad

It is hard. And it stays hard. Even after the three weeks. I think it'll always be hard (if Notyummy agrees).

It took me a few days to get into the exercises - remembering which leg and how you move (eg the down then twist and stretch up ones and the squat twists) etc. Did you do it without weights today?

If it makes you feel any better at all, I am reasonably sure that there are at least 2 breaks in the DVD where they all get to rest but we don't so you are having the hardest workout in the room and not them and you're allowed to be a quivvering, jelly mess. Remember they are a) young b) fit and c) dance for a living, I am guessing you don't!!! I think it is a bit of a lungefest too, my glutes ached for the first few days. Also, i don't think there is much of a difference between Maddy and Bea so it's pretty hard to take an easy option all the way through.

Have a think whether your knees are actually up to it. I would be cautious. I wouldn't like to attempt it with an injury either. Is it worth trying again, if you think your knees will cope, once you have recovered from your other injuries. I know I sound like DH my mother but is it worth buggering up your knees just because the DVD exists? You are allowed to not do it you know....Wink

Having phoned in JM yesterday I am off for my C25K run before it tips down again. DH away again (just a couple of days) so I will have to go alone [scared emoticon]!

Jacksterbear · 12/05/2011 20:30

First day off without exercise in 30 days and I'm feeling... twitchy! It's definitely become a bit of an addiction! Confused

Well done everyone else, keep going. Balloon Sad sorry you felt so shitty.

JelliBelli · 12/05/2011 20:48

Yes Jacksterbear I had the same yesterday. I was on my (walking booted) feet all day yesterday and didn't get home till nearly 6pm when I was hoping to 6W6P. But when i took my boots off my feet started to throb and I just couldn't face it (knowing I also had C25k to do today) and i phoned it in Shock. I genuinely felt truely guilty as if I was letting someone (me, I guess) down.

i still felt a bit Hmm today....

Dysgu · 12/05/2011 23:26

I did L1D5 earlier this evening. I now seem to have two additional coaches in the guise of my DDs (aged 4 and 2) who like to pass my weights and jump along with me! DD1 takes is very seriously and is keen for my 'big fat belly' to go so I can show my tummy 'like those ladies on the telly.'

DD2 just bounces about shouting, 'me jumping, me jumping too!' and loving every minute of it.

DP is NOT allowed in the room when the DVD is one but is very encouraging when I am turned into a sweaty mess and about to jump in the shower.

I did hunt out the tape measure today so have the full list of measurements - gosh, it was not pretty reading but am looking forward to those numbers going down over the next few weeks.

I am coping okay with the achy legs and arms but my feet are really tired - I need different trainers, me thinks. Shopping on Saturday!

JelliBelli · 13/05/2011 00:24

Dysgu I'm glad you're getting support from your cheerleading crew.

You might also like to think about a good sports bra too. I bought a Shockabsorber on eBay (~£10) and it has been amazing - it's straps my norks (32Gs) down fantastically - so much so I now run in public!

BalloonSlayer · 13/05/2011 08:06

I am so touched at all the lovely supportive comments on here from everyone... thank you SO much.

I shall have another go today and see how I cope. I think I was lulled into a false sense of security by 6W6P level 1 - in my head, however hard the exercises are, if I'm lying on the floor I'm having a rest. As soon as it went into the Long Lever Crunches I thought "Aaah lovely!" So I was dismayed to find very little lying on the floor in Level 2 Blush

Now I know what to expect hopefully it won't be so bad. Although I did have an "aaargh bloody hell" moment from my knees when I sat down on the loo in the night.

knottyhair · 13/05/2011 08:25

BalloonSlayer, I know exactly what you mean about lying on the floor Grin!

trumpton · 13/05/2011 10:04

D9 L2 - Could not do yesterday morning so tried it in evening with a lack-lustre result. So back to morning slot. DD very disheartened as she says has not lost any weight or inches and yet ( to me ) she looks < different> . Can't explain why to her.

She has another 3 weeks until they go away and she wants to be trim for then so there is still time if she can motivate herself. She is BF 8 month old whilst doing BLW so is doing fantastically well.

craftynclothy · 13/05/2011 10:26

Did L1D2 today. I got up early and did it while dh gave the kids breakfast. It was easier today because I knew the moves this time round and I felt better after it (i.e. less dead Grin) but I am more achey.

Dh did it last night Grin while dd2 giggled at him and dd1 shouted "I can do that" at everything and jumping around a bit. He seemed to be finding things easy until I corrected how he was doing them Hmm. I was very relieved that he too was a sweaty mess afterwards cos he's fitter than me, so I didn't feel too pathetic after that.

sjm123 · 13/05/2011 10:56

L1D3 today, found it easier again. Still a bit sore though, particularly muscles around hips and stomach muscles, and chest. Well, lots of bits are a bit achy actually!

Just found out a friend is unexpectedly coming to stay tonight so going to do a whole-house blitz clean before I pick my youngest up from school, which I'm sure must count as a lot of exercise too!

flatmouse · 13/05/2011 11:18

Balloon I fell out with JM completely on 6W6P - i could do L1 (with difficulty particularly the side planks) but didn't really ever get to love it like 30DS. L2 - well, indeed, i did it once - maybe one and a half times. Was not a happy bunny.
Returned to 30DS to get my JM-mojo back (which i did, but then my leg cramped up and i had to stop again).
What with one thing and another i'm up to about a month now without shredding/running/any form of proper exercise (that doesn't mean i've had improper exercise - i mean general walking around running around after kids etc!).
I have a plan to start afresh with 30DS on Monday - back to level 1 again (altho i have to do low-impact cardio - physios orders!), and start some running again maybe at the weekend.
I do intend to re-try 6W6P at some point - but want to complete the 30DS again and get some running in first so i'm a slightly leaner and meaner going into it. (In other words i'm very stubborn and won't let it defeat me, but i'm going to build my confidence back up again first!!)

Boo - was supposed to be starting L3 today but fainted at Drs having blood test and really not up to jumping, planks and whatever treats JM has in store for me on L3. Am annoyed because I haven't missed a day for ages and because I'm not at work today so had the house to myself for once. I do think my skinny jeans look alot better but my C-section flab is going nowhere still.

Love checking this thread- you are all keeping me motivated x

notyummy · 13/05/2011 12:35

For those of you who have caught JM on The Biggest Loser, here is another idea for a whole world of pain from the other trainer on the show:

Ultimate cardio Body

knottyhair · 13/05/2011 12:56

Chocolateshoes, hope you're OK. notyummy, now I'm on YouTube looking at Bob clips! I feel an Amazon order coming on...

knottyhair · 13/05/2011 12:58

Gutted, looks like all his stuff is only available on US import Sad.

notyummy · 13/05/2011 13:03

Bugger! Forgot to check that out. Seems like they are missing a trick there.

gracelesslady · 13/05/2011 13:07

have just done L1 shred because i wasn't in the mood for L3 Hmm and really enjoyed it! used 2kg weights for all but the last side lunges/anterior raise thing where i went back to 1kg, and i was hot and sweaty and out of breath, but did natalie versions of everything, my knees didn't hurt and i felt (like scary jillian says) that i was strong and this was easy for me!! still need to work on my proper push ups - can get half way down and back up again, but the progress there is just amazing. STILL no weight or inches or anything lost, but i love the way it makes me feel :o i'm so glad i found this thread - like other people have said, it's so motivational and i'm not sure i would have persevered and kept getting back in the saddle after days off, without you lot. so thank you :)

chocolateshoes · 13/05/2011 16:26

Gracelesslady that sounds really encouraging. I'm definitely with Nat on the cardio, with Anita on the abs, and somewhere between on the strength at the moment, but really hope that by the time I'm half-way through L3 I'd be able to keep up with Natalie on L1.

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 13/05/2011 18:29

L3 day 1. That was interesting! Found it slightly easier than l2 even though been doing l2 for a few days. mountain climbers are a bit of a challenge though. I posted on another thread about JM v Davina, and said I would interchange them, but now I'm not sure, the Davina ones have never made me work like JM.

knottyhair · 13/05/2011 19:04

Thisis, I tend to do a Davina if I'm feeling a bit under the weather or fancy an easy ride Grin. I did one yesterday as I still had a bit of a cough but I didn't really feel like I'd done anything!

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 13/05/2011 19:32

knotty, yes, she 's a bit like an exercising comfort blanket. having said that I think you could make her workouts a bit more difficult by using hand weights for some of the cardio like you do on l3 and also get really low in the squats

JelliBelli · 13/05/2011 19:54

Balloon How did you get on today?

Flatmouse I noticed you've been a bit quiet for the last while. Glad to hear you'll be back on the 'treadmill' next week.

Graceless do you really have weight TO lose? Is your BMI 'overweight' or more? Just wondering why you're not losing inches or lbs...... Confused
